Here's something to consider: With Weinstein being Blockbuster rental exclusive, and BB going predominantly Blu-Ray with rentals, you have to wonder if that will factor into the equation.
With Fantastic Four on HD DVD and Ghost Rider coming soon to HD DVD...wonder how long until we get the Spider-Man trilogy on HD DVD...
Never.

Last time I heard Sony has worldwide rights on all 3.
With Fantastic Four on HD DVD and Ghost Rider coming soon to HD DVD...wonder how long until we get the Spider-Man trilogy on HD DVD...
Yeah Sony would never let that happen. Which is fine. The first one aged badly and they just got worse.
Yeah Sony would never let that happen. Which is fine. The first one aged badly and they just got worse.
Well, it doesn't matter what Sony says if they don't own the rights in another country but like I said, last time I heard they have the international rights all wrapped up.
Looks like here are some Blu Ray exclusive movies that are newly announced for HD DVD in other countries:

- Pan´s Labyrinth
New Line hasn't announced support for either format right? So that title wouldn't be exclusive to Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. This is the first time Pan's will be available in HD w/ subtitles though. (French Ultimate Edition before that)

I'm still thinking if I want to upgrade to HD. The SD transfer for the movie is already gorgeous.

I want my A2 to come now, so I can watch 300, Casino, & Batman Begins in HD glory.....................

then build up my library with:

Hot Fuzz
F&F: Tokyo Drift
Lucky Numer Slevin
The Big Lebowski
and more I don't feel like listing..............

But at least Transformers will be coming, and Grindhouse in 1 way or another. Im gonna wait a while to see specs for the foreign HD DVDs, and to se if they announce a domestic release

im still waiting to jump on a deal on 2 fast 2 furious and tokyo drift non combo whenever it arrives..

that fantastic four cover looks bad ass.. too bad i already have that and ghost rider on br..

i also had already jumped on the saw trilogy on br since i loved the movies

almost through with dsk 2 of heroes...getting rather interesting
im still waiting to jump on a deal on 2 fast 2 furious and tokyo drift non combo whenever it arrives.
Please be soon. I want Tokyo Drift so bad.

Oh hell yeah. I kept myself from watching any of it when it was televised. What a fucking awesome show. The hard part is keeping myself away from season 2 and waiting for the HD set to come out next year. That's gonna be excruciating.

BTW, guyver (I think it was you), I also got that error code in disk 2 today when I tried it on my add-on. What's odd is that I left disc 2 in there a few other times, started it up and it booted right to the menu. This time (I was watching chapter 6), a cookie menu came up and then it tried to download something and failed.

yea im dying to get smallville season six. i never have the time or patience to catch any shows on tv. It is soo hard to wait until they are released...

heroes is pretty bad ass.. they have a sneak preview of season 2 in the web features..

New Line announced Hairspray for both but eh, how knows when they are going to jump on board.

And you are wrong about the whole first time Pan will be available in HD thing.

It's coming out in the UK in November.

Based on Hidefdigest.com's amazon tracking release list thing, they are starting to take pre-orders on some of the Warner's downgrades. About $24.50 per movie, which feels a little high for a non-combo disc at this point.

I've got a feeling last week's promo was also a quick way for them to clear out the old Warner combo discs.
So nobody can beat amazon right now for Heroes hd dvd? I guess I will go ahead and buy it since BSG doesn't come out till like December.
I used the fye.com $ 10 rebate deal, which came to about $69 before rebate.

Here is my collection...Sorry, the Blu-ray discs are also in the picture, lol. Planet Earth is there to on the far right hand side but I got her cut off.
I still have several movies en-route to my house as well. I REALLY need to stop buying so many damn discs.

So far it has not meant anything. Clerks II is on HD DVD, along with Pulse and several other Weinstein movies (And I mean several. Weinstein hardly releases anything for HD DVD). Don't forget, Paramount and Dreamworks are now HD DVD only. Studio support for each side is getting around even now, and Blockbuster soon may stock more HD DVD in their stores (I would be shocked if they didn't by Christmas time).

That's what Im worried about, i really don't want to import Death Proof & Planet Terror if I don't have to

Where would you get that impression from? If there's anything I know, it's BB. They aren't quick to do anything, and they'll be sticking with this BD decision for awhile.

Huh? I'm guessing you read my post wrong. Anomynous' post listed a bunch of HD-DVD's coming out in different countries.

The Optimum UK release was what I was referring to, in regards to his post.

That release will be the first HD release of the movie with English subs. The French Ultimate Edition had HD/SD versions of the movie, an extras disc and the soundtrack. None of the films in that version had English subs.

Just got done watching the Dawn of the Dead HD-DVD. I dont know why this movie gets such a bad rep. Yes its a very loose remake, but its really good. I had a question though. Someone on here mentioned that two of the characters from Dawn of the Dead were in Land of the Dead. I looked on IMDB and I didnt see any characters with the same names. Anyone know which two people survived (by the end credits, it didnt look like any of them would've).

I wasn't aware it had a bad rep. In fact, most people usually preface the "all remakes suck" statement by adding "with the exception of Dawn of the Dead..." Sure there's gonna be the dissenters but when even rotten tomatoes has it rated at almost 80%, I wouldn't say the movie get's that bad of a rep.

all these movies came before blockbuster announced their blu ray support

but yea they weren't really releasing anything anyway.

the last two movies they put out were feast and harsh times which came out back on june 12th for HT and april for feast

they released a lot last year around dec/jan (clerks 2, slevin, wolf creek, pulse, derailed, matador, scary movie 4) but thats about it for them

Guess I did.

I thought you were saying the German verison (which Anomynous is talking about) will be the first Pan's Labyrinth with English subs.

It usually gets a really bad rep from fans of the original. Mainly because they took all of the social commentary/character development out and turned it into an action flick with zombies.

Yeah, I suppose. There's a lot of people that can't accept that, while based on similar plots, they're entirely different movies that can exist together. I'm a big a fan of both movies not because of any deeper social meaning but just because I like zombie movies and they happen to be 2 of the best.

I never understood the complaints myself. Hell, most people also shred Land to shit as well. When push comes to shove, I feel that Synder's effort in Dawn was far better than 300.

I guess zombie fans hark back to the golden age and nothing but golden age zombie movies will do. Which is a shame.

The remake was an excellent companion to the original film. Its sorta funny in a way, without the remake showing that zombies (and to a degree Romero's name) could still bring in some cash...Romero wouldn't have gotten the funding to create Land.
I never understood the complaints myself. Hell, most people also shred Land to shit as well.
Well, that's because most people never seen Day Of The Dead and their eyes glaze over as soon as they think of zombies that are anything more then death machines.

My beef with Land is that it was never meant to be a Of The Dead movie. It's was originally titled Dead Reckoning which makes alot more sense since most of the movie is focused on that vehicle thing.

I thought the remake was horrible if you thought of it as a remake but was fairly decent if you thought it as it's own movie.
Well, that's because most people never seen Day Of The Dead and their eyes glaze over as soon as they think of zombies that are anything more then death machines.
As much as Ive grown to love Day, I wish we could have had Romero's original version with Zombies in army suits that are being 'trained' by humans. The original script has been posted online for those interested in reading it.
So far it has not meant anything. Clerks II is on HD DVD, along with Pulse and several other Weinstein movies (And I mean several. Weinstein hardly releases anything for HD DVD).
Don't be too hard on Weinstein, they're a small studio with limited resources. But to be perfectly fair, they, along with Lionsgate, have released the highest percentage of their titles to their chosen format. The last time I counted (which, granted, was a month or two ago), Lionsgate had control of 350 films, and had released 27 on Blu-Ray, for a release percentage of around 8%. At that time, Weinstein had control of 113 titles, and had released 11 on HD DVD, or 10% of their catalog.

To put that into perspective, MGM has control of around 3300 titles, and has only released 11 on Blu-Ray. The exact same number of titles as Weinstein, but a pathetic 0.3% of their available catalog. Seeing as they actually HAVE money (that TWC doesn't), they should be ashamed.

The one thing you really CAN fault Weinstein for is they don't Day & Date anything. If they do decide to grace us with an HD DVD release, it's ALWAYS ~3 months after the DVD hits. That, to me, is unacceptable.

Exactly. If you think of the new Dawn of the Dead as a remake its a complete failure as its NOTHING like the original. If you think of it as it's own movie that got a little "inspiration" from the original then its just plain awesome.

Ocean's 12 is easily on my top 10 worst movies I've ever seen list. The "gimmick" on how they pull it off at the end makes me want to choke someone.

That said, I'd buy the first one and maybe the most recent one, so I'm glad it's not a box set, even if the newest one is a combo.
You don't watch a lot of movies.
Bullshit. "Glitter" was more enjoyable than that piece of crap, at least there was some unintentional entertainment value gained from it.

However, "The Next Karate Kid" remains firmly atop my bad list.

I stand corrected. You have a fucked up sense of entertainment value then.

One minor plot hole ruins the entire movie for you? I didn't think it was what Ocean's 11 was, but that's because of the Julia Roberts expanded role.

It's still more entertaining than ANYTHING Mariah Carey. Except maybe her top falling off.

What was the gimmick again? I only saw the movie once and I chose to forget about everything in it as quickly as possible.
Was it Julia Roberts pretending to be Julia Roberts? I remember that part was pretty groan-inducing
Hahaha!!!! Now I remember. Good stuff. And more specifically, it was
Julia Roberts pretending to be a pregnant Julia Roberts (I think...I can't remember the movie that well)
