can we still get in on that bb fun?

edit.. guess not they took down link
If you are talking about that Living Landscapes thing I posted, it's been dead for days.

They didn't fill any of the orders (besides 1 at the very beginning) and just gave everybody else $15 coupon.

For those interested in Heroes: Season 1, I heard the PQ for the HD-DVD version is so-so.

Hi-Def Digest gave the PQ a 3.5/5. I also know of a couple of reviewers over at DVDTalk that were a little disappointed by the PQ quality (Digital Noise, Edge Enhancement, etc)

Either way it probably is a step above the SD release and the extras are nice. I'll still be picking this up Tuesday.

I was going to get it anyway, and for $20-$25 more for the HD DVD version its a no brainer. I imagine the HD DVD version will have a better resell value then the DVD version as those seem to drop pretty fast.
this guy has some good bin prices though they are disk only

http://stores.ebay.com/Sartor-DVDs
I'm guessing he just marks rentals from blockbuster online as lost and keeps the disk. Still not a bad deal if you have a good printer and can print a HQ cover, the HD-dvd cases only cost .60-.75 each online. Most HD-DVD releases dont seem to have any booklets or chapter selection lists anyway.

There are a few websites that have CUSTOM COVERS to print. Check out DVDtalk.com for some links in the HD Forum.

As for the guy selling DISC ONLY on EBAY, if he is doing the Blockbuster LOST a DISC, that is amazing they let him go that long....I have a feeling it is other methods, but who knows.

Hell of a deal going on right now at Amazon...problem is no one is sure how to get it to work every time. Here's the thread at AVS:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=897932

The title is buy 3 get 1, but I got it to work with buy 2 get 1. I bought Mallrats, TMNT, and Shaun of the Dead for a total price that, after the 19.95 off and my 10% discount, wasn't much more than buying a combo disc at Circuit City. The problem is, no one is sure what combinations trigger it yet. I added random titles several times and got it to work more times than not, but basically...you may have to experiment.

Also, the deal is ONLY visible when you get to the final order confirmation screen, so don't just look at your cart and think it didn't work. Watch for a 19.95 discount on your final total...if that shows up, it works.

*EDIT* - MORE DETAILS IN DVD DEALS FORUM

I can't get shit to work.

Put just about every combo I want in it and it didn't work for me.

Damn it I want Enter The Dragon, Land Of The Dead, and the Bourne movies.

Yeah same here. I got one combo to work with 4 movies. It was Shaun of the Dead, the two Bourne movies, and Blood Diamond. But I rather get buy 2 get one to work. None of the combos seem to work either.

Well by god that combo worked. Too bad I already own Shaun and don't want Blood Diamond.

Ended up placing 2 orders. On HD DVD I ordered Blood Diamond, Casino, & Shaun of the Dead. After free shipping, buy 2 get 1, and the 10% off discount it came to about $11 a movie. I also made an order for a few Blu Ray titles. It seems it is a buy 2 get 1 on certain titles. On AVS they are starting to create a list of what works and what doesn't.

This promo is quite a bit of work! It seems to work primarily for 4 HD-DVD movies at a time, with the following caveats:

has to be in stock
no pre-orders
should be $19.99 or less in general, with a couple of exceptions.

I got the following to work:

300 combo
Blood Diamond
Superman II: Richard Donner Cut
V for Vendetta

It kind of sucks that a lot of us already have a number of these titles. For me, 300 would be a double dip (have Blu-Ray already), and I don't really want Blood Diamond.

I know the following does NOT work:

District B13
It works as a buy 2 get 1. You just have to have the movies they are counting towards it in your cart.
Ah, I see the qualifying titles in the other thread.

Picked up:

Night @ the Museum
Casino Royale
Open Season

And separate order for:

Blood Diamond
V for Vendetta
Dune

Edited: because my logic was wrong.

Thanks for the heads up on the deal!

I got Mallrats, Terminator 3, and Shaun of the Dead to work!

Its beginning to look like $19.95 titles are the ones that are working.

Whew, busy day between the Blades of Glory FYE deal and now this.

Order 1:
TMNT
Mallrats
Shaun of the Dead

Order 2:
Blood Diamond
Casino
Corpse Bride

Great pick on those who got Blood Diamond.

So has anyone had any luck with combo discs working? Specifically, I wanted Children of Men and Tokyo Drift.
most of the good movies on the list i already had
Same here although most of them I got from buy.com with the GGC rebate so it wasn't that big of a loss.

Ended up buying 12 Monkeys, The Deer Hunter and The Searchers. All blind buys so I will find out Thursday (Amazon Prime ) whether imdb know what they are talking about or if they are completely retarded (Crash  )

I couldn't get anything I wanted to work. Oh well.

If anyone has recommendations of sets that did work, please post. I guess I could always trade.

There is a temp list of what works in the DVD Deals forum.

http://cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150246

It's buy 2 get 1 free not buy 3 get 1 free like reported earlier.

- edit
The Searchers is great movie and it looks unbelievable in HD.
Yeah, that's what I heard.

I'm not the biggest Western fan but I figured at this price...why not give it a try?
im glad i have prime too..even though its just a trial..
You should split the cost with 4 CAGs

I ended up doing it with mr ryles so I got almost a year of Prime for only $16
You should split the cost with 4 CAGs

I ended up doing it with mr ryles so I have it until sometime next year for only $16
Split? How does that work?
Split? How does that work?
You have one guy who collects all of the money and buys the Prime account.

That guy can add 3 "family" members to his Prime account who also gets Prime access for their accounts.

Send the guy your first name, Amazon email address and birthday (just the month and day, not the year. Something for security purposes.) so he can send you an invite.

Then that guy will send you an invite and PM you his name and birthday (so you can accept the invite) After that you have Prime access for as long as your inviter does.

No security risk besides the guy canceling and taking your money but hopefully you do it with a trustworthy CAG who won't fuck you over.
why cant you get it to work..

simply select 3 movies from the lists provided and proceed to checkout
Yeah, the discount won't show up until you make it to the checkout page right before you finalize your order.
I selected Bourne Identity, Shaun of the Dead and Mallrats, no dice. Went all the way through to the final checkout screen.
Bourne Identity isn't on the list.

Only Supremacy
Well no fucking wonder I need a contact.

I'm going with Batman Begins, Mallrats and Bourne Supremacy - good transfers?
I've only seen Batman Begins but it's a good transfer in my book. I remember alot of people using it as a demo disc back when it first came out.
Whew, busy day between the Blades of Glory FYE deal and now this.
I've been looking around the boards, but to no avail. What deal is this?

Wow this has been an expensive day for me...

From Amazon.com
The Mummy
Meet The Parents
Shaun Of The Dead
= $40

Happy Gilmore
40 Year Old Virgin
The Bourne Supremacy
= $40

From XploitedCinema.com
Fantastic Four (HD DVD Import)
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (HD DVD Import)

Good stuff to look forward to though ;)
