Hell's Kitchen

Took me a while to realize what was going on. I was thinking, "Who the fuck is Lisa?".

Anyway, it seems like the only people who have a chance of being a real chef in Ramsay's kitchen are Cory and Christina. And of the two, I think it might be Cory. They rarely show her making mistakes or getting yelled at.

I loved the Original Iron chef. Especially when it was a tie and they went into overtime!

as much as most viewers might have hated lisa, and the fact that she snuck bye from week to week it appeared the judges really liked her dishes in the finale.

I think if she had proven herself throughout the show she would have won. The fact that she just snuck into the finals and that Richard and Stephanie proved how well they were week in and week out swayed the judges. At least Richard won a Car. Its no `100k but, better then nothing.

Again I was really dissappointed in the finally. Seemed like just another episode. Curious why they changed the finale format compared to last years, 2 cooks, each with a restaraunt with the contestants that were eliminated as their chefs. it gave a better view of the chefs talent. Also last year they showed what the final 4 had been up to during their 6 months away. This whole finale was just so damn rushed, why?

I'm curious about this too, and my mind always instantly jumps to "ratings assassination" whenever something like this is done.

Why they'd do that - I have no idea. But generally whenever a network screws with vital components of a show, it's never good news. Changing the time it airs, changing the day it airs, changing the format...pretty much all red flags. Of course I could be exaggerating the entire thing out of proportion, but it's hard to not notice such things when it's right there in your face.

I mean they tend to make the finale special in some way - make it longer, show the winner live, etc. But this one was so DOA. They hyped up Richard's tirade, which only ends up him saying that he choked, which (to me) wasn't anything shocking or revolutionary or whatever else they wanted me to think.

So a pretty big letdown. Eh.

Also - this page is littered with puppies all of a sudden.

Ya was hoping Richard was going to say "Well I might not have done the best tonight, but at least I'm not a lesbian" as he slyly points to Lisa. Owell. Still have the reunion show next week.

They tend to bring back all the contestants and let them talk about certain things that happened off-screen, or perhaps further explain something that was hotly contended, like any number of insults and some such. So people will probably talk about how Lisa isn't very nice, and she'll cross her arms with that defiant half-smirk shit and say "I'm not here to make friends." And then Dale will probably scream out the F word at some point.

They should also do the Fan Favorite, which nets the winner $10,000.

They might also have some kind of showdown/quickfire challenge.

It's mostly just fanservice.

I used to watch Iron Chef (original) pretty often, but I didn't like the dubbing. Also, Bobby Flay and Mario Batali are awesome. Flay is definitely my favorite chef of either Iron Chef.

I prefer the original Kitchen Stadium, but in nearly every other regard I rather Iron Chef America.

No.

No.

Sakai > everyone. Forever.

Huh. Who knew this was the Top Chef thread in disguise. :whistle2:k

I was really pulling for Richard, but to honest I didn't care as long as Lisa didn't win. I probably wouldn't have watched the next season if she won, seeing as how she was in the bottom almost every damn week, and Richard/Stephanie had 8 wins between them. I was worried when they said the winner was the one who they would've most liked to have seconds of, or something like that.

Flay owned Sakai in the first episode of Iron Chef America. In a fish battle, no less.

Doesn't matter. Sakai does more than stuff shit in a corn husk and/or barbeque a steak and then top it with whatever expensive ingredient he can get his mitts on.

Sakai's overall record = 78.6% across 89 battles. Flay is already at 69% with 29. Not even close.

I say that shit about Flay stuffin shit in a corn husk all that time, he's not the greatest chef of all time but he does know how to market himself and be the most skilled of the "TV personalities" that also cook.

So you respect Rachel Ray, then, huh?

I respect the way Rachel is able to make her hips and and ass so big and keep her titties so small. That's a skill so takes a life time to master.

So this is right around the second or so episode of this years Top Chef and between this being so close to the end and also the end of Hell's Kitchen it backs up my earlier statement that if I were to build a staff of all the people I've ever worked with my whole life, the staff would be mostly girls.

Between the two of these shows there's 8 people total and only 2 guys. Girls try harder, they feel like they're being held down. Maybe it's not. Maybe it's something else. What ever it is they really do bang it out and break it down better than the guys. Every time. I know 7 girls I could put together in any line-up and not worry. I couldn't do that with a random list of a pool of 30 guys I've worked with.

It's not his fault he owned Sakai at Sakai's specialty. He doesn't try to be better than Sakai, it just happens.

From an interview on Entertainment weekly with Top Chef Winner Stephanie

Some people are really excited that you are the first woman to win Top Chef, and others are saying that you won because you're a woman and the producers wanted that. Do you just feel like telling people to go to hell?
Pretty much. We were having the reunion show, and [show judge] Tom [Colicchio] was talking about how they came up with the decision, and I really believe that it was their decision. They compared our meals. I think [other Top Chef finalist] Richard and I are both good chefs, but he just didn't make as great of a meal that night. So yeah, people can believe and say whatever they want; I just know in my heart that I worked really hard for that and I deserved it.

Apparently we aren't the only Lisa haters.

Man. I hope someone has said this before, but I noticed Jen's superiority complex ten fold tonight. Incredibly annoying.

Everytime something was mentioned that could be done, she'd comment about how she could do it better.

X made a good dish. I can make it better!

Christina bought some clothes. I'm a bigger fashionista!

Ramsay complimented X's dish. Chef Ramsay liked mine better!

Well guess what - you got kicked the fuck off better than anyone else tonight.

I'd only watched the last 15 min last night, watching what I missed on hulu. God, even Corey was a giant bitch just like Jen. Christina and Petrozza are the only ones with any sense of class.

The Top Chef reunion show was eh, as I expected it to be.

I think I want one of those shirts.

However, immediately after they showed that, Andrew said an even more hilarious line, which I have tried to preserve verbatim:

Oh, I want to make fucking butterscotch waterfalls out of unicorn cock!

There's no part of that sentence that is not amusing.
i cant believe christina burned the shit out of Ramsay twice and he didnt go apeshit on her more
Hot bitches can get away with anything

I thought he was just overreacting as usual to create drama, but then he poured water on it and it sizzled... I was really shocked that he wasn't lying about it being hot enough to burn him.
Finally the bitch is gone :whee:

I can't wait for next week's episode. Petrozza blowing up? I don't believe.
Its the episode where they have to run the kitchen and Ramsey makes them yell. I doubt he yells out of personal anger.
Hmmm....
Wrong person went home.
That's keeping in line with the overall theme of the show.

Christina has choked twice in a row. Last week she was just lucky. This week seemed more for the drama/fan favorite factor. If these last two are any indication, she'll come out the door screamin', but once the final real challenges appear, she's going to go down in flames.

The only saving grace for her this time was that Ramsay said he considered "their entire performances in Hell's Kitchen." I guess - given that - she beats out Corey, but eh.

I'm probably with the Lieutenant here - Petrozza might pull this off.

This week's episode hasn't aired on the west coast yet (is airing now) try not to spoil anything before our episode airs -- same goes for next week. Or use spoiler tags. I'd appreciate it.

I haven't seen Christina screw up this week (yet) but she'll win. Ramsay has said over and over he doesn't care about cooking knowledge/ability, he just wants a talented person that can become the best head chef -- IMO that's definitely Christina. She's been very consistent, organized, efficient, level-headed and even though she's just got out of culinary school (was she even out when the season started?) she's standing toe to toe with chefs much more experienced. I think, by far, she'd make for the best head chef once trained.

Why would you read the thread before watching this week's episode, knowing of the time delay?

It's not uncommon to discuss TV as it airs on a forum.
Are tags that troublesome?

I think that works better with live events, where nothing can be spoiled. Tags aren't that hard to use. I'm on the West Coast too. I used my own will power to wait, rather than having to rely on strangers not ruining it. Don't mean for that to sound rude.
