I just bought my XBOX (finally!) from a user here. My wife wasn't very keen on the whole idea but I did it anyway. I was thinking that a game that appeals to her might soften her to the whole XBOX thing.

She likes puzzle games (Super Puzzle Fighter is her fav) and has legitimately beaten me a handful of times in Super Smash Bros. Melee. When she tried to play 3D games like Zelda OoT she got lost a lot and didn't like how expansive the worlds were. Also she has put many an hour into Animal Crossing.

I was thinking of getting her Blinx because I heard it was kinda linear in design and hopefully that will solve the expansive 3D problem. Any other suggestions? We've played games like Halo 2 with friends but that is clearly out of her league.

Best suggestion, try a different system.. although I love my Xbox, I have yet to find a game my fiance will play for more than a few minutes, except Monopoly.. which is a terrible waste of money, just buy the board game.

If she likes puzzle games get her Tetris World. If she likes games like Super Smash Bros. then I would suggest to get Soul Calibur 2 which you can find for $19.99.

Yeah, my GF tends to lean more towards puzzle games, rythem games, and RPGs.

Xbox really doesn't have too many of those. Maybe Kareoke Revolution? DDR?

Maybe Jade Empire?

Cornfedwb, you're probably right...but the idea was to find something that makes her feel warm and fuzzy about the XBOX. I've got the games she wants to the cube already.

As for the other suggestions. Soul Calibur is much harder to play than smash bros. There is just something about SSBM that appeals to her.

We have considered DDR games, but as long as we live upstairs in an apartment we can't.

So far I think Blinx is the front runner. I don't think I want another Tetris game. It's a good idea, but I have several already.

i havent played it yet, but what about eggmania?

or maybe CSI, no matter how much it sucks....my gf loves the show, so its a pretty much guarantee that she'll like the game...thats just how most girls are

maybe kung fu chaos, its "funny and cute"

volleyball games usually draw the attention of girls too, maybe try doa xbv or the outlaw ones...maybe even try top spin

toejam and earl is another one that ive noticed my gf liked

other than that, im not really sure right now...other than the ones mentioned....

my gf likes halo, so we can "kill shit together"

good luck
also, you may want to change the topic title to include "xbox" before "game"
I did that...but I thought the forum that I put it in would make that obvious...

CSI - That is a great idea. My wife loves that show too and this might work. You mentioned it sucks...I'll have to see how bad.

Fusion Frenzy - I was meaning to pick this up...another great idea.

Bust a Move - I do have Bust a Move 3000 for the GC, but if I didn't this would be a good choice too

Good suggestions so far, I'm glad to know I'll have a handful of games to choose from. But keep 'em coming if you have ideas!

im not sure if the CSI game sucks personally...the reviews just say it does....ive never played it, but my love for the show and my extreme leniency to bad games would result in my failure to be a good judge of that

as for adding "XBOX" to the topic title....a lot of times i dont have time to go through each forum and i completely skip over most forums unless im looking for something in particular...so i basically refresh the front page a lot...as i think a lot of people do

If she likes Buffy try to get one of the Buffy games. My sister loved Chaos Bleeds. I thought it was decent and I don't even like the show.

you can also try "cute" games like grabbed by the ghoulies, blinx (already mentioned), tork, raze's hell, voodoo vince, etc

driving games such as midtown madness or burnout...i dunno much about driving games, but usually, anyone can pick one up and have fun...

or maybe something different like syberia

this is completely away from the puzzle games, but my gf loves Burnout 3.....surprised the heck outta me, but i can recommend that...plus it's an awesome game (20 bucks @ target now)....i got her into gaming on Halo and Halo 2, but she picked up my burnout, and now she plays it every time she's at my house.

maybe this helps.

My wife loves Burnout 3 as well - that and Simpsons Road Rage.

Her and her friend play that one more than any of my other games.
Super Monkey Ball--if you haven't already tried it on the Cube.
That's a good call, I forgot about it being on Xbox. My fiance loved it for GCN.

And I haven't played it, so someone could give a better opinion, but maybe Whacked.

i would also recommend letting her play halo with you for awhile....i started my g/f off and she was pretty bad at the beginning, but just play around and let her get the controls... pretty soon after that my g/f could hold her own.....surprised me and my friends who she beat...

couldn't hurt to try...

Games My Wife Enjoys on Xbox:

SSX3
Amped
Mojo
Fusion Frenzy
Blinx 2 ( Co-op)
Tetris Worlds
Pirates of the Carribean ( She has a thing for Pirates)
DDR UltraMix
All the Harry Potter Games ( She is a BIG Harry Potter fan)

Maybe Chessmaster.

Yourself Fitness would probably be good, but be really careful how you put it to her. If you're out shopping in the store, pick it up off the rack and mention how well-animated the character is, "She even got named Virtual Woman of the Year by one of the videogame mags, ahead of all the other videogame chicks like Lara Croft or Nina Williams. This is supposed to be really good, I was thinking of getting it for myself even."

If you just buy the game for her she may think you're telling her that she needs it. ;)

DOA Beach Volleyball

This may seem suicidal at first glance but women love the relationship management aspect of it. I've heard endless accounts of men who lost use of their Xbox to their SO's getting obsessed with the game.

If you don't have a sufficient PC for it the Xbox offers the best console version of The Sims, thanks largely to the hard drive.

If you don't have DDR on another system, get it. Even if you do already have, the Xbox versions add some features and different songs. A more subtle approach than going direct to Yourself fitness.

Your wife will love LEGO Star Wars. It's got multiplayer co-op and you don't ever die (well, you die, but you just respawn in the same spot or else restart a little bit further back). Plus, it's got cute little lego characters. My wife (who also only plays a few key games) was totally into it. Give it a try, I'm sure she'll love it.

I'm going to agree with xraytd... my girl, who sucks at anything video-gamish, LOVES Lego Star Wars (in fact she bought it... lol) It's a fun game because, you can never really die, but it can be challenging for a new gamer, and then you can go back and try to get all the hidden things throughout the levels after (which is more challenging than the game itself sometimes). My girl had a few points she had to drop out because she just couldn't do it (like the Podracing), but she enjoyed a good portion of it.

Then I tried to have her play Splinter Cell Co-op with me... that was a mistake...

If your wife likes puzzle fighters she might dig the puzzle fighter mode from Mortal Kombat Deception, which can be played online too.

I'd suggest Fatal Frame and Fatal Frame Two: Director's Cut as cures for the 3D expansiveness phobia.
