Since everyone is asking for people to get them one when they can't find one on their own, let's try to keep the requests to this thread here:

Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!
Lol, not sure, it's the real HP site I believe,though...
Shipping is high, but considering the item you're getting...worth a shot. I'm sure itll be cancelled anyway. It's definitely a url glitch/exploit probably?

Im gonna order from here just to be safe. Then when HP notifies me theyre back in stock, ill place another order.
Gave it a shot, after some cursory checking to see if there was anything obviously fishy with the site. Worst case someone steals my low-limit credit info and I have to go dispute.
Gave it a shot, only downside was the shipping was $21 something, but still, $128 is worth it... just hope it goes though.
Same here, lol. If I happen to luck out with the 32gb touchpad I'll be sure to sell this one at cost, just my $130 + actual shipping.

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has received any shipping confirmations from PCRichard's yet? I ordered one on Friday, received the confirmation email, checked that my credit card has been charged, and my order still says processing on their website. :/

I really hope it doesn't get cancelled, I'm really interested in trying one out. *crosses fingers for Android port*

Meh, I think I'll just wait. I do not feel comfortable putting my information into a website people are not sure whether or not it is legit.

I can wait.

Ordered one from B&N last night, but my billing address was wrong, so I had to call and change it and now my order is just pending, but no cancellation. Guessing I'm just at the bottom of the cancellation pile right now. Going to on the lookout for the rumored restock at HP "early this week", unless that was the small business thing. Really wish this started this weekend instead of the weekend I moved in to college and was busy the whole time...
Just got the cancellation notice from B&N like most here. But a glimmer of hope for me, the order I made with SMB may actually be good. I still get a "We are unable to process your order..." message, but my bank confirms that $165 was actually withdrawn from my account, not just placed on a hold. Been on hold with SMB for about two hours now to confirm, but it's past 7pm central, they're closed. Hopefully they won't just go home, leaving customers hanging on line.
Don't worry, THEY DID. Hung right up on me.

****ERS!

Probably the safer bet. ;)
I'm on the hp smb site through that link and the lowest shipping is 45-200, what's that about?
I think that cart is glitched. My opinion? Don't bother. They're out of stock.
I think that cart is glitched. My opinion? Don't bother. They're out of stock.
QFT, that ish sounds too fishy to give it a go.

Yeah, seriously expensive shipping on HP small & medium business.

I'm still hoping for another Amazon Prime eligible deal to come along. I doubt it will, but you never know what'll happen when it comes to this deal.

I gave it a go. Got a legit email from HP saying my order has been confirmed. Whether or not they will ship it? Thats another story. The link is legit, though, and HP is aware of the glitch as well.
I figure since theyll get more shipments in this week, they might honor my order. Shipping was $20, but I heard of people getting it refunded , for free shipping. These are the people that placed their orders yesterday or whenever.

Orders made through the hp direct to cart hack today will probably all get cancelled b/c they don't have any stock.

However, hp claims they will have more in the next couple of days. So they need to decide whether to reserve them all for the countless cart hacks and anger their customers waiting for more supply (unlikely) or just cancel the cart hack orders (likely).

I used that HP link after my B&N order was canceled. I selected 2 but on the order confirmation it says 4, and sure enough Ive been charged for 4. I called HP and the lady I spoke to saw the order in the system but said she can't change the quantity as it's not in the production line yet (or something like that) but she will monitor it and let me know via phone or email tomorrow.

So yes that link is legit.

Also, i dont need/ want 4. I ordered 1 for me, and my brother in law (who ordered another for his wife but might be canceled). long story short, if i end up with 2 extra, I'll resell them at cost to some fellow CAGs.

It's completely legit. Add items to your cart through that link. Now close the link and open google and go to the official small business website throgh google. Your added items will be in your cart.
QFT, that ish sounds too fishy to give it a go.
Glitched carts? Insane unexplained shipping hikes? Shady online retailers? Dubious ebayers with "confidential" information for "sale"? Orders made to a site whose business address was confirmed to be that of a Pizza Hut?

Come on guys. We all want to get in on this deal, but we can't let our desire to get in on this completely cloud our judgment.
:booty:

Very true, however it's a chance Im willing to take, since its my CC and not debit.
Since they seem to charge your CC right away , I think it might be easier to just give everyone a tablet when they're back in stock, rather than issuing all these refunds and making people angry that their money is on hold for a week or so...but we shall see.

Thanks man and you're welcome.
I received confirmation from Best Buy as well. I have my 32 GB I picked in store now, then the 16 being delivered is going to my mom as a christmas present. I'd say definitely a good $250 spent. Now i'm just waiting on my screen protectors and case to arrive from ebay. Thanks again for that case recommendation Paul, I ended up ordering it. Enjoy your touchpad when it arrives, i'm really liking mine.
fair enough, mcnutsack. the glitched cart is legit in the sense that it is an hp order but if hp actually lets the thousands of glitched cart orders go through they'll look like liars in the press b/c they won't have that incoming shipment that they promised.

so it could go either way. good luck.

Anyone else reading this stuff?

Quote from davel.usa :
Where is your proof that this was a marketing ploy or strategy? Yes they handled it poorly but they suffered the SD effect. Veterans of this site know that you win some and lose some but it isn't worth getting so mad over it - jeez.
this is not the first time. B & N pulled the same dirty trick a few months ago over an alleged "price mistake" for a Nikon D90 (50% off) -- it's not really a price "mistake" if you take orders for well over 24 hrs.....

Barnes and Noble scammed us all to get marketing on those that may want some sort of tablet device????

"Placed an order with HP about 20 minutes ago. It went through to the end. I then called them to ask about the high shipping costs. I was told my order would be cancelled, because the Touchpads are OOS. Oh, well...I tried."

Oh well indeed :D

It seems like half the internet is down.. I hope tablet makers take notice and drop the prices on their products.

Just ordered 1 from insight for $170 after tax for the 32gb. I used my debit card, so If they put a hold on the funds but end up canceling it after a week or so, ill be pissed.
Finally got through the Onsale's hold line and was cut off after 25 minutes of holding. Guess the waiting game continues with that one.
I have a lot of waiting games right now. Still waiting for BB and OnSale, and just put in one through HP SMB cart glitch for the heck of it. Figured I'll wake up tomorrow and by happy or meh based on my emails.
Gave it a shot, after some cursory checking to see if there was anything obviously fishy with the site. Worst case someone steals my low-limit credit info and I have to go dispute.
It's legit. Same site I ordered from Sat and I received my shipping confirmation today. $237 total was my total for 2 16gb (me and the wife). $20 shipping is what they billed me
