Since everyone is asking for people to get them one when they can't find one on their own, let's try to keep the requests to this thread here:

Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

Richard Kerris
VP webOS Developer Relations

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

Wow, that's crazy, an earthquake in PA. I'm assuming y'all guys are okay since y'all are posting in this thread :)

Colorado just had one yesterday (link). What's going on down there?
Fanks.
Any idea when these "shipment" trucks will arrive? Today?
Varies from store to store but the word going around is that most stores get trucks Tuesdays and Thursdays with inventory being put out at different times.

Had 4.something earthquake in Northern New Mexico yesterday. Thats the first earthquake i can ever recall in my lifetime in this state.
Lol earthquake on the east coast. People freaking out about it like people freak out about rain in SoCal.
Earthquake better not delay my shipment.
I had a delayed shipment once where the status said something along the lines of "delay caused by natural disater" back when they had those SoCal wildfires in 2003. Never had a delay because of an earthquake though.
There was a press conference in NYC and the guy speaking was like "It's okay, it's okay, I've been through many earthquakes in Seattle before."
Did he add "stop being bitches"?

Actually, it wasn't an earthquake: they're now reporting that it was actually a stampede of nerds headed for a Walmart that advertised the HP Touchpad as in-stock.
Maybe we will get an aftershock?
I'd want this deal to get an aftershock rather than the earthquake.
Lol earthquake on the east coast. People freaking out about it like people freak out about rain in SoCal.
good thing our eartquakes dont kill us ;)

EastCoast is BestCoast

I would have believed a stampede of Sd'ers

Nerds are indiscriminate devotees when it comes to technology.
Was anyone charged twice by HP?

I am sure this is going to get lost in the shuffle.
Yeah during massive site meltdown I was charged twice. They're all pending.

Yeah you just get hurricanes and blizzards. No biggie.
Hurricanes, earthquakes and $100 TouchPads....signs of the Apocalypse?
No its not dec 31st 2012 first sign maybe

Did anyone else order from Sears? I received my order has shipped e-mail this morning and my partial refund showed up in my account :D I'm glad I didn't have to deal with the HP website or hunt one down at BB.
Once again, due to the crazy ass earthquake segway, I just want to point out:

Office Depot has the accessories at half off.
Yep saw that one too. I just can't see spending $60 to $100 in acc. for a $99 touchpad. I can use something laying around the house to put it in and just plug it in if it needs charging.

My order status for a 16GB from HP.com might be getting fulfilled? I ordered way late yesterday using the cart trick and figured it had no chance of being honored but my status has changed from processing to "Your order is approved and being sent to order management."

Or it might just be getting canceled by order management? Oh well I guess just a heads up to anyone else that ordered from them.
LOL. Exactly! SoCal peeps can sleep through an earthquake but once the rain comes, everybody suddenly can't drive and accidents clog up the freeways!
Ain't that the truth. LOL

I'm with you on that one. I'm going to wait it out on buying accessories for this.

Nope. Bryna said SMB have no stock and she specifically tweeeted those new orders using basket trick ain't getting it. Sorry dude

Awesome. Thanks!

Ordered the case and docking station with free shipping. FYI, these are still full price in store. Price match in YMMV, as far as I can tell (the local manager recommended I order it online when I called a minute ago).

Side question: Anyone know if the keyboard can be used with other devices (bluetooth)?

Went to my Best Buy to pick up an order and amazingly, they had a surprise delivery of Touchpads. Had numerous boxes containing 8 or so TPs. Picked up a 16GB as well as Deus Ex.

Was quite a lucky break for me.

Edit: Not sure if other BBs had surprise deliveries as well but maybe it's worth a call.

i hit the trifecta of bad stuff today:
1) Earthquake
2) Bank down the street from me got robbed
3) Cop that lives down the block killed in motorcycle accident

I can see how the earthquake will contribute to this ongoing Touchpad madness:

"Due to the recent earthquake, our east coast distribution centers housing our remaining touchpads have been destroyed. Consequently, we will be canceling all orders! Sorry for the inconvenience, but we hope you shop with us again soon! Sincerely, _______ (add company name here)"

Those clearanced iPad cases aren't seeming like they're 'in the way of the games', anymore, on those Target end caps now that my Amazon order is on the way. Hmmm... I wonder if they have anymore...

Did I type 'games', above? Games? What's that?
You guys better stop talking about Earthquakes or cochesecochese will burst a blood vessel.
Dawwwwww still mad that no one cares to humor your pseudo-intellectual ranting and raving outside of VS?

Too bad.
