Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

VP webOS Developer Relations

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

Now they're sinking 50-100% of the products new price into accessories. Like old people or Joe consumer who just needs that brand name accessory that does everything for his shiny new doo dad.

With people openly saying they bought on eBay, wasting tons of time in lines, driving store to store or clicking refresh and/or on the phone. This is not CAG at least to me.

Thats a good price but how do I buy it? It just has a check compatibility button.

Edit:
Click the check compatibility button and search for iPad. Hit the "See more devices" link and select the 1st gen iPad model (should be the 1st one) and then click the back button. The accessory page should update so you can add it to your cart.
This is what I will never understand about forums - people who sit in their fucking chairs, read a forum, then click on a thread they are knowingly going to have a problem with, and then just threadcrap to satisfy their own ego. Feel free to fuck right off back to the main forum by clicking links anywhere on this page, and don't come back in here if you don't like it. Considering this thread has a shit-ton of posts, I would say that the majority of the site doesn't agree with your perspective.

So how well does it fit over the Touchpad? Anything thing that sticks out or any part exposed?

I got the TouchPad but couple questions

1. I heard numerous reports that the Technocel case WILL work with TouchStone charger, I have the case but my Touchstone wont be delivered till Monday (but I doubt it will be delivered on time since were in a middle of a hurrican Irene)

2. How do I set up an Alarm when in Exhibition Mode, because I would love to use this on my nightstand.

3. How do you use/what app so I can download to be able to use the front facing camera to take photos (Prefer FREE though)

http://www.amazon.com/Technocel-Lea...5EXO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314479859&sr=8-1

This case fits great on the HP TouchPad, nice and snug, no ports/or speakers covered. My friend has the Official HP case, but he much prefers mine since it offers better protection, and latches close. He wants to trade cases with me, but I will wait and see if TouchStone will work with Technocel case first.

Thanks!

:applause::applause::applause: that's right.
So how well does it fit over the Touchpad? Anything thing that sticks out or any part exposed?
From what I read of people who have that case on SD, it works well, but some of the holes (camera, light sensor etc) are somewhat blocked, but of course can be solved by cutting/leather punchout, I declined to get it because it DOES NOT work with HP TouchStone conductive charger.
So how well does it fit over the Touchpad? Anything thing that sticks out or any part exposed?
I don't yet know personally, but people have been saying that it fits perfectly and covers it pretty well. Judging by the pic, it looks like the corners are pretty exposed. There are probably cases that do a better job covering it up, but from what I've seen, most've them are like this.

Has anyone had a Touchpad ship from Cost Central? I have gotten two emails this week from them saying they are still processing orders and to have patience. I ordered Sunday night.

Really, there's a thread a few posts down from this about Total War @Newegg. I have no interest in that game, or the price. Yet, I was able to use self control and intellect to figure out that A) I shouldn't click on the link to read the thread, as I don't care, and B) that I shouldn't go into that thread and tell people that want to buy the game that they're pathetic for doing so.

"People got a cheap tablet"

Cheap? I would not associate that with this tablet, only if it was a chinese Android knockoff Tablet, with a slower processor, smaller screen, lower build quality. I mean come on you cant even get a shitty knockoff for this price. These Tables cost $600 & $500 , just a month ago, so who in their right mind wouldent want to snag one for 80% off? I can justify spending $20 for case and $50 for chanrger, 70% of what I spent on the Tablet itself.

IF WebOS comes obsolete I can justify $100 spent Because

*Port Android over
*E-Reader
*MP3 Player
*Movies
+Stream Movies/TV Show

It would be almost impossible to find any standalone device that does either of those that is comparible to HP Touchpad. I own an original IPad, but the browsing experience is much better on HP TouchPad due to Duel core Snapdragon and Flash.
Honestly the folks who are trolling on buying these are just jealous because they have not been able to find one yet.
I have it, it fit really well on the HP touchpad an will protect it well, Speakers are exposed to allow the sound to pass through :D . The camera however is less than half cut off...that is the only downside. Also gesture do work but not as well as it should be.
What's the best screen protector for this? There are seemingly a million available on Amazon with no reviews, and ebay has a similar problem.
i ordered the acase ones from amazon. they seemed pretty good, but were damaged so i sent them back for a refund. i'll probably rebuy them though honestly. i like the static cling kind with the double peel.

This isn't just a "cheap" tab, IMHO, and I'm really not saying this just because I got this at a low price, but it's the best tablet overall to me. I own a 1st gen wifi 16GB iPad and I much prefer this. The speakers on this thing put my LAPTOP to shame, and it has a very nice build quality. The app store has a pretty sizable amount of games and useful tools, most of which are free. WebOS is a very nice OS, it multitasks very well, I often run a dozen tabs at a time with no slowdown at all, something I can't say with any tablet I've used. Most of all, this handles flash better than any tablet I've seen. Any website embedded with flash or even sites comrpised entirely OF flash run smoothly. Basically what I'm saying is if I had one tablet to buy at MSRP, I'd honestly get this.

Yeah - I have to give HP HUGE kudos for the speakers... I listened to Pandora for a long time this morning simply because it wasn't like listening on a shitty laptop... It sounded great!

Thanks - it uses static cling, which eliminates my worry about leaving a sticky residue behind, although I wish they sold them individually. Oh well - I guess it never hurts to have extras just in case.

Thing is, I could have gotten an early order in when the deals started, but I decide I didn't really need one. With how desirable the touchpad is now, I regret not trying :)

Ok thanks poor2more, I'm going to bite on the Technocel case. Cheaper than the official and I had also read that it works with the Touchstone which is basically a must for me.

It was a hypothetical. I'm not into tablets that much in general. There were no places for me to really try this out (my BB and WallyWorld would rather have 61 iPad and Galaxy displays ). Had I had a proper "trial" with this I'd seriously consider one at around $300. Really loving this though. If I WERE to have bought one at MSRP, it'd be this. And no, IMO, the iPad is not as good as this.

I took mine to one of these stands in the mall had them put it on for $25. Not too bad, I've had one on my iPhone for over a year now and you still can't even tell its there. Thinking about going back to have them wrap the back as well. Be warned they do use sometime of solution when putting it on, not for the faint of heart as we can't replace these!

This.

The ONLY thing that trumps this on the iPad is that there are shit tons of apps available. If HP had kept going with this tablet, I really think they'd have had a success on their hands...

I like my ipad2 better than this overall, but now that I have downloaded preware and the appropriate patches, and overclocked it, I like it almost as much. I just want a netflix app....
