HUGE YMMV-TRU Markdowns starting Thursday December 2, 2004-HUGE YMMV

CAGiversary!
This is the markdown list for a store in the Atlanta area. Most of the prices ending in .95 or .99 should be nationwide while the .98 and .48 prices are the YMMV. From what TubTub stated apparently it depends on what isn't selling at your local TRU, so I guess the solution is dont buy games from TRU for a few months and mabye we'll see a 99cent Halo 2 LE or a going out of business banner...here you go.

Yeah TRU, coming through in the clutch. Aww the first Tenchu was a hell of a lot of fun. And if its that cheap I wouldn't mind picking it up. I am thinking about picking up Demon Stone as well, though I think that is sticker price (a nice and low sticker price at that). Is TRU going to do anymore Buy2get1 frees?

That is the sticker price on Demon Stone as BB had it for $29.99.
I went in today to one of the TRU's in the DC area, and there were some sales but nothing like that have been listed in the OP by the OP. Anyhow, I'm a little dissappointed, but I never ever seem to be able to find deals at TRU.
Which TRU did you go to in the DC area?
You were wrong OP.

Devil may cry was $4.98.
Xenosaga rang up $13.98.
Also, Maximo Army of Zin was $7.98.

Thanks for the post, OP.
Maximo was $8? Did I even see it? I'll go back tomorrow and see...

This was kinda of a strange sale. There was several hot buy signs out and decided to pick up DMC and MAOZ for the heck of it. Strangely, they rang up for less than the hot buy price. After they rang up, I went back for Xenosaga but it rang up the hot buy price so I decided to shelf it.

Additionally, the green tag clearance items had an additional 50% off. I thought about getting Eternal Darkness as a gift for ~$9 but decided against it.

I went back to TRU and noticed that they were slow to pricechange the games. This guy was re-tagging the clearance games. I was able to pick up XIII and Siren, but I wish that I picked up Gladius. It looks interesting. Anyhow.....any word on Fatal Frame II.

I stopped by my TRU tonight and scanned a ton of games. Picked up:

Beyond Good and Evil - $4.98
Fatal Frame II - $17.98
Siren - $10.98
Sword of Mana - $8.98

They had some others, like Castlevania LOI and Bomberman Generations for GC for really cheap, but I passed. Also, the PSOne/LCD Screen combo was only $39.98...I may have to go back for that one.

can someone clarify?

I went down to TRU tonight again to pick up some green tag stuff. I didn't find anything really good(at least not till I get the $10 coupon in the mail) so I found some green tagged legos for my little brother. I go to checkout and they ring up at green tag price. like I said before, around the store there are tags to the effect of 'get an additional 50% off green tag price' with 'additional' bolded and underlined. I saw some right next to the regular green tag signs so I figured it meant you could get 75% off. so I get to checkout and the employees say green tag is only 50% off and the other signs(...'additional'...) are saying the same thing as the earlier signs. I took them and showed them the two different signs next to each other and asked the difference(why would they have two different signs that in the end say the exact same thing) and they just said 'the signs mean the same thing'. I decided to say 'fuck it' and just left. was I correct in assuming that it means 75% off green tag items? if so, how can I get this through the employees' heads? thanks.

The green tag sale is still just 50% off. There were a select number of stores that upped this to 70%, but only about 50 of them. The ad says an additional 50% off green tag merchandise because green tag merchandise is 50% off the marked price. Green tag merchandise is mostly old stuff thats marked down so you get an "additional" 50% off the clearance price. Most people may not know about the green tag sale so it makes more sense for them. For CAGers, they've known of the sale since August so additional to them means 50% + 50%.

It's all a part of marketing and getting people into the stores. Did anyone else notice this week that Dragonball Z games are $5 off this week, but all the signs in the store say in huge letters "Save $5 off" followed by in smaller print "any playstation 2, gamecube, or gameboy advance dragonball z game". Dragonball Z is put at the last line though so most people assume its $5 off every title.

Was Fatal Frame II for PS2 or Xbox???? Thanks!

Hey when you guys were at TRU did you find any Nintendo DS? I heard its one of the secret places to find them (as far as most people don't think of TRU as having them but they do)?

FF II was $24.something. I thought about it at that price considering its relative rarity, but I opted against it. Oh well. But boy oh boy, I'd love to get one of those PSone bundles.
Indeed, the PS2 version it was.
Hey definace_17, btw which TRU are you heading off to where there is this motherload of stuff?

Let's just say it's in a city everyone has heard of, but I think I'm the only CAG here. I don't want to give away my secret locations, but the one here actually isn't that great. It's the one closer to my parents' that is constantly stocked with all the good stuff, I just don't get to that one very often.

Come on fella. This is CAG, we are here to share the info. I was just curious. It is interesting for me to see where geographically deals are and found.

Well, if no one lives in that city, then you don't have anything to worry about. If people weren't willing to share good deals and tips, this site wouldn't exist.

Back again: this time I got-

Fatal Frame II - $19.99
Sword of Mana - $12.95

scanned Maximo: AOZ, it rang up $15

at Eb, I got the last copy of Onimusha 3 for $15 and Eternal Darkness for $5.

OK, I picked up three PSOne/LCD combos tonight--1 for me, 1 for eBay (I know, I know), and 1 for a friend. The good news: $39.98, and they still have (not kidding) probably 15-20 left.
I would be happy to pick some up for people, but I'll need non-credit card PayPal up front. After tax and shipping/insurance, it will probably be about $50, but I'll look into it further. PM me if you're interested.

PM left.

I told my friend to get me Siren, and it ended up being $15 :(. It was the last one though, so I cant complain too much.

Definitely have to check my local TRU tomorrow. I could really use one of those PSone/LCD combos. I already have a PSone but for that price in my current circumstances it would be a step up from only being able to use my portables (Lynx, Game Gear, GBA, DS) for gaming. I just found out today about a six month contract position that I'd definitely need to get an apartment nearby to avoid a killer commute but I wouldn't want to live in this area any longer than necessary. So the bulk of my stuff would stay in storage.
damn anyone cheked any TRU in northern Cali?
In the Central Coast of Cali TRU I found:

Siren $29.XX (damn it!)
Beyond Good and Evil $10.XX
Tenchu $13.xx (Xbox)
I told my friend to get me Siren, and it ended up being $15 :(. It was the last one though, so I cant complain too much.
I think Siren for $15 is worth it.

I better get down to one of the three TRUs in the Portland area to pick up a few games! Before DigitalSpace does! Sword of Mana is looking good!

The Tucker location may be 'on to us'. I was there today and one of the staff said 'oh no, not again'. Now, I took it was just random talk and left it alone. Later on I heard the same person say 'I just know he (referring to me) is going to ask us to 'check the prices' on all of those in his hand. If you want the damn games, just buy them for crying out loud.' With that, I placed all that I had down and left the store. I went to GS and got Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime, and Viewtiful Joe with their BOGO deal.

You should have grabbed another dozen at random, just to make them feel relieved when you only asked to have your original selections checked.

They have a lot of damn nerve resenting price checks. If it was really such an onerous task, why not just mark the shelves correctly and be done with it?

I would have told them "If you kept your pricing current and basically did you job I wouldnt have to do this!"

Then proceed to ask for a manager and nail his a**.

Or they should place a price checker machine for customers to use in the R-Zone. I hate how at all the TRU stores I have been to, they have price checker machines all over the store except for in the R-Zone

There's one in Augusta where my girlfriend lives. They have the old school paper slips for their games, and you can take THOSE to any scanner in the store and have them scanned for price checks. I may just end up going there when I take my next trip down there and buy the games if they have any listed. And yes, it IS gay that the scanners aren't in the R-Zone. If I hear 'it's priced as marked' one more time, I'll go crazy. And besides, here's an oxymoron for you: the TRU in question was crowded. A TRU crowded? A sight comparable to the Loch Ness monster: many have claimed to see it, but few believe it.

I also make it a point to leave ANY store the minute I feel threatened or pestered. I mean, I know most employees get the Christmas chip on their shoulder, but shit...

I wouldn't mind picking up Sword of Mana or Fire Emblem at cheap prices, but I dunno if I want to take the trip down to my TRU (like a 20 minute drive) for a YMMV...

And, for whatever reason, I feel weird telling my parents that I'm going to Toys 'R' Us. And to buy games? Shit, my parents are still trying to get me to "grow out of it."

I say you might as well go and at least see, rather than be one of those that post here and say 'oh no, they had XX and I didn't go get it... I should have went sooner.' What's 20 minutes nowadays?

Thanx. Hopefully I'll get around to playing it after all the other games I have sitting around :)

Here is what I saw in Northern CA:

Xbox
Techu- $12.99
Medal of Honor Rising Sun - About $11 (I dont remember exactly the price)
Manhunt - $25.99 (the OP said he saw it for under $14)

So my findings are different

In Grand Rapids, MI (Alpine Ave) I picked up:

PSOne with working LCD screen - $49.98
Fire Emblem - $24.98
Sword of Mana - $9.98
And the cashier conveniently let me use the "$10 off 2" coupon to ease the pain.

They had a number of other games marked down; I remember:
Soul Calibur II (PS2) $4.98
Red Faction II (PS2) $4.98
Hmmm. My memory's going. I can't remember any others.

For those interested, the 28th St/Beltline store didn't have any markdowns, no LCD combos, no Fire Emblems.
