Hulu Plus Coming to xbox 360

$7.99 a month? Anyone that already has it or is going to get it - what your thoughts?

I'm debating...I already have Netflix...no cable/dish...is the content worth it? Seems I'd use this to stream current tv shows.

I've been debating but the selection seems to be lacking from a lot of networks not to mention Hulu ≠ Hulu+. Apparently there are things on Hulu that aren't on H+, not just the other way around. Only H+ content will be on the 360. Also it appears that what's available on one device (PC) may not be available for another (360, etc). Last major con is an $8 a month fee but you still get commercials every 6 minutes.

But... that's where a free week (possibly month?) comes in to try it out.

i did'nt like the ads if am paying for something i don't want to see any ads

I really hope there's a free trial. I'm very interested in Hulu+. I know Hulu offers closed captioning on some programs, and I cancelled Netflix because it didn't offer closed captions for its streaming service.

I'd be curious to see how the 360 and PS3 compare in options for Hulu+, and how they both compare to the PC.

Netflix is working on increasing their CC options on streaming, up to 80% by year's end:

Yea, that mistake was made once with cable/dish. I really do hope people wont be so dumb this time around. One can dream though.....

i hope its good, wanna watch fox shows i missed i.e. fringe
as word is a lot of companies including starz are pulling stuff from netflix since they are trying their own programming.

Look at spartucus, only the prequel season is left.
WTF

Regarding "Fringe": (not part of PLUS, but just the normal free Hulu via PC)

We are currently able to offer up to 5 episodes of Fringe. New episodes are added the day after air.
We currently don't have the rights to make this show available on TV or mobile devices — request to be notified if it becomes available in Hulu Plus.

I will consider it. I already use hulu on my xbox360 instead of cable but this would allow me to watch a whole season in blocks without worrying about expiration of content. IE they rotate episodes in and out of the regular hulu queue. Maybe SHOW XYZ Season 1 show 1 will be on for 3 weeks and than it drops off and another episode is available. With hulu plus all episodes of a season and some past seasons are available. More like TV on demand than. I also wonder if it will have start/stop/ff/rewind features on the 360 which would be nice. Now when I do that alot of times I lose my place in the show and have to start over.

I use it on my PC and PS3. I don't have cable or satellite so it's cool to have access to shows but it's best on the PC since the PS3 and, presumably, 360 don't always have the rights to all the media. Since my PC is also hooked up to my receiver to my HDTV, I usually just utilize it this way. Your best bet is to search hulu and see what the deal is on your favorite shows before deciding if it is for you.

An example - http://www.hulu.com/whats-happening - Availability:

Nice! I wasn't aware they were really working on their caption service, other than promises they made last year. Too bad the 35 pages of captioned products don't work on 360. I could Stream through my Wii, but I think I'll wait a bit longer until they have more captioned products available.

Pff, $8 a month on top of XBL gold cost and there are still ads? I'll just stick with my antenna/converter box for watching current network programming in HD.

Netflix however is really impressing me. Crazy good selection of new streaming content like The Cosby Show, MacGyver, Roseanne, tons of old Bond films...

Anyone think current Hulu+ users will get the free month as well when they attach it to their 360?

Only people getting 1 month trial for hulu plus are those students with an .edu email address. As for $8 a month and still seeing ads/commerials, forget about it. The worst part of it is not being able to share the account like on Netflix. Then, there is limited content on mobile devices and perhaps even on the 360.

I was not planning on getting Hulu Plus but I just found out that even when you pay there is some stuff you can't watch on anything but your computer and there is also some stuff just available in Free Hulu... WTF type of business are these guys trying to run. They either step it up or Amazon Video Streaming will kill them.

i got rid of cable almost a year and a half ago for hulu+ and netflix, there is a giant library of full tv shows (over 500 last time i checked), the continuous play is the best advantage over netflix, theres alot of web only stuff though (just to name a few rescue me, raw, smallville, sons of anarchy, chuck) which isnt too bad, the option of watching current episodes of most current animes is nice (one piece, naruto, bleach, and a few others) with older eps available in dub and sub. i dont regret it one bit, and for the ad thing if you are using it as an addon with cable i can see them being annoying, but its still less than cable has if you are replacing cable with it. ive been using it on my ps3 since launch and cant wait to be able to use it on the 360 so i can sit my kids down with netflix on one or the other and the wife and i can enjoy hulu+ on the other (plus psn being down is making it harder to do that since it wont work without being online)

also you can get 2 free weeks from anyone currently paying for hulu+ just by getting them to invite you, so if anyone wants 2 instead of 1 i can send an invite, and im sure anyone else whos already a + member would too since we get free time for refering someone also, heres my link in case anyone wants the 2 weeks http://hulu.com/r/75g6Sg

also an added perk, since psn was down they gave everyone a free week of hulu+ to make up for the issue
you mean a week?

Ya I saw that just after I posted that, the rumor had been a month, of course that's been proven false as it's only a week. Which for an existing user like myself, kinda sucks since I already have a subscription, all this week will probably do is allow my wife to log into her own gamertag instead of mine for a week to watch hulu.

If you pay for Xbox Live, you see ads.
I had it on the PS3 and was not impressed. Have they updated there database of stuff yet or is it still the same?
its gotten alot bigger, and alot more movies

Please America, don't make the same mistake you made with cable/dish. Don't pay to watch the same TV and same commercials you already do, just for a few extra options. Most of whats on is not worth watching anyways.
I bought a newspaper today and it had ads.
I bought a ticket to a baseball game and when I went to the baseball game I saw ads.
So, wait until next Thursday and make it 5 weeks total?
Total with 1 week promo? I'm not sure, because i'm saving the 1-month on wednesday.

OK. So let me get this strait.
It will be the monthly charged, Hulu Plus only? And not the ad paid, no month charge, regular Hulu? Correct?

I'll gladly take the free trial but I'm not sure why anyone would pay for this. Half of the stuff I looked at says "web only" most of their content is basic television which anyone can watch on their tv for free anyways.

depending on where you live it's sometimes impossible to get regular tv reception due to all the cell phone towers, radio waves, etc in cities. most ppl in metro areas get basic cable just so they can watch "Free" tv. $7.99 is about 1/3 the cost of basic.

In my last apt, I got 2 channels that were clear enough to watch another 3 I could listen to but there was way too much white noise.

I guess I never thought of that but I've lived in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and currently Columbus and never had a problem

I guess this is good for people who don't have cable, but want to see new shows. The ads don't make any sense. It should either be free with ads or $8 a month without.

my god this thing sucks. almost everything on my queue is "web only" on top of that it wont load the criterion collection or to check out all movie or shows. i have to restart my xbox. fantasticly pointless.
