Humble Bundle Thread

The BTA on weeklies used to be fixed at $6, so it isn't really that high... either for a weekly or Humble in general.  Some of the crappier ones used to allow you to sneak in with a BTA around $4-5ish if you were sitting in front of a computer when they went live; otherwise, yeah, I'm not seeing how this is a particularly high BTA.

It was cheaper during the steam summer sale if you got it from a Russian and got a coupon from trashbot (around $2.50-$3).
Very True. Man I really want all of these "Endless" games, especially Endless Dungeon. However they are all too expensive. Hopefuly we will see a "Endless Bundle" in the next year or so.

Endless Space is lots of fun though. Don't be put off by the complex look -- it's really not.
I think it's already been well established I'm a lame Big Fish grandma, so there's that, but I found it not very friendly for a newcomer to the space 4x genre and for me it didn't do a very good job or explaining things or showing how to play at all. They just threw up some still images with text embedded in the image itself that was kind of hard to read and called that their tutorial.

This was back in the alpha/beta days (yes I Solid Snake Eyes'ed it) so admittedly maybe they changed it and I should try it again. But some of us did make suggestions on a better tutorial back then when they were supposedly soliciting feedback and they didn't seem too interested.

I'm still waiting on a space game with a Civ V level of accessibility. I don't know that Endless Space was quite Paradox game that would be harder to learn than flying a plane level but it sure wasn't Civ V level either, at least for me.

still the same... high learning curve but rewarding when you pass the Grandma hump

I can't speak to the progress because I didn't play it early on. In fact, I bought it during the glitch last year and didn't play it until Playfire told me I had to.

I'm not a 4x'er myself (though I want to like them). The hardest part, for me, was figuring out how to assemble my ships and which upgrade paths were worthwhile. What connected with me was that the general node possession felt a little like Star Control, which I love. Had the combat been action-oriented like SC then it would have been a home run. Playing out the battles manually and automatically turned out to be okay though and I had a good time with the game overall.

To me, it felt like a 4x-lite. I can see how it would annoy the 4x crowd, hoping for a deeper game as well as the grandma crowd, hoping for more simplicity.

I'm not good at 4X and strategy games in general, and I generally had Endless Space down by the second game. If you've played Civ V it's really not a big step past that.

Just start on a lower or the lowest difficulty. That allows you to explore the gameplay and learn. It's not tough at all.

I'll try it again I suppose. Like I said I bought it really early on cuz FAKECAG so it didn't even tell you how to do the very most basic things like, uh, move and buy stuff and crap like that. Maybe I just need happy Advisors up in the corner telling me what to do next. I don't know.

For some reason I feel like a tard since it seems Im the only person who can never win an ES game even on easy. Ive followed all the suggestions out there of lowering taxes to make sure everyone is as happy as possible, dont expand too fast, etc etc, yet the ai still always jumps ahead of me somehow

Don't feel too bad. I can't win them either.

I enjoy base-building and turtling in strategy games. Forcing me into combat before I've completed my "fortress" makes me anxious. I tend to play Endless Space that way -- building up my economy and tech trees -- and then suddenly it'll say something like "(insert enemy name) has accomplished (insert amazing achievement) and will win in X turns"

Same here. I want massive epic battles, not a few guys destroying everything because I'm building my base. When I played BFME2 with friends, we would either play 2 hours of base building or king of the hill dividing the map into 4ths so you could build peacefully in your territory. I think you had to hold the hill for something like 10 minutes straight, so if you wanted a chance you had to bring a massive army. Everybody else brings massive armies to counter attack and the whole thing is great.

wat. its monday
You clearly live at wrong place.

Why, are you getting withdrawal due to lack of overpriced shit to buy on Steam so you're looking for overpriced shit to buy on Humble?

Ah. Break it means something super great is coming.

Humble Origin 2? HiB12? Humble Activision? Humble Bethesda? Humble PC & Android?
