Humble Bundle Thread

Yeah, I was thinking about it too... Probably not too seriously, but this news broke and.... Nope. Thanks Humble Bundle.

Even if there are any fairly decent games besides Alien Isolation, peeps will be trippin' over themselves to undercut each other in the cesspool trying to unload.

Edit: I like shitty bundles as much as the next moran, just not $10-$12 shitty bundles....
Hm, something might be wrong with rcsample. I can actually understand what he wrote! :p

I swear if I spent 12 bucks on this humble monthly and get alien isolation and 5 stacks of digital dog vomit i'm gonna sit and regret my purchase

I WILL SIT AND REGRET MY PURCHASE SIRS AND MADAMS

This may be the one that makes me turn on the monthly. So far been relatively pleased with them, but I don't like the way those tweets read. Sounds very much like hey, don't expect too much out of us guys, it was kind of last minute.

I"ll be satisfied if two of the games are ones I want besides Alien Isolation, given that Alien has been 12 bucks alone in sales for what feels like forever. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Alien and a bunch of crap

I should start a bundle site, and use my extra leftover steam keys to make "mystery bundles", since it seems like you guys can't get enough of that shit. $5 preorder, and for every 1000 bundles sold I will give away a copy of Fallout 4 or GTA5 or whatever the fuck you guys want. Just send the money through PayPal to [email protected].

Tomorrow's monthly will have an "exclusive" game from developer Mighty Rabbit.

I wondered about that, but the Monthly page says all games are playable on Steam. I suppose there's some gray area for games being "playable" (eventually) on Steam not necessarily meaning that Steam keys are provided at launch.

mLTL1iq.png

There was also some confusion on this due to an IGN article saying not all future games would have Steam keys, but someone on r/gamedeals got this clarification from Humble support:

All games provided in the Humble Monthly subscription will have Steam keys included, and are guaranteed to be compatible with Windows. We always try our best to be as inclusive as possible with the range of platforms we support. Oftentimes this means we will be able to include a DRM-free version, and support for Mac, and sometimes even Linux.
This game could be a "timed exclusive" such that only Monthly buyers get access to the DRM-free build, then later when the game is released on Steam keys will be added to users' bundle pages. Or, maybe the game will be on Steam tomorrow but not available for purchase, and the only way to have gotten keys would have been through the Monthly bundle. It would be like how some crowdfunded games put their backer-only alpha or beta on Steam for ease of distribution/updates without actually selling the game on the store yet. I don't know if that requires a game to have already been greenlit, though.

Either way congrats, subscribers, and enjoy the Monthly DRM-free Early Access Exclusive February Bundle.

Yeah, I saw that part on the Humble page, but Humble's wording is always vague. "Steam for windows. Sometimes more!" could mean that it could include drm-free only games depending on how you read it. We'll see, either way it's going to be a shitty game.. Mighty Rabbit admitted they didn't spend much time on it.

Maybe it's on Steam but it's humble monthly exclusive and won't actually be sold on Steam, so it could be sold to crazed Steam collectors for thousands as a rare +1! Maybe it'll all be ok! Yes, I am definitely glad I bought this bundle now.

Further examination of that screenshot I posted reveals more details.

Yea this is what I think it'll be. Then all the +1ers who passed on the bundle will have eternal remorse and never get over that gaping hole in their Steam libraries.

Might be worth about the same as a Doublefine prototype steam key.. which no one cares about. I'm all for collecting, but if the game is barely a game, I don't give a shit about it.

As a special bonus for Humble Monthly subscribers, we've teamed up with Frozenbyte to include a world wide debut sneak peek demo of their upcoming game, Shadwen. Download the demo below!
That was in January's. That's what this is.

(or I could be wrong, and then I'll rage)

Yea, when the developers start making excuses for their game before it's even released, it doesn't leave me with a lot of hope.
Holy shit... That's a really solid point.

I almost got the feeling that Humble is trying to extend the number of games they can use in these monthly bundles... Paying some company to quickly make a game for the bundle? That just seems all sort of nuts.

Went in for the Monthly. Paid $3.4 after selling Alien: Isolation. I guess there is still pretty big chance that the rest of the bundle won't be worth that $3.4.

Just think, you could of pre-pooped a Poopiez Poop-in-a-box bundle for less than half that $3.40....eh, probably not the best comparison....carry on, sir!

And even if White Rabbit or whatever the hell goes and says 'Hey you know maybe we should take this half ass jam demo thing and make a proper game out of it' they'll just pull a Nuclear Throne and use the ol' 'Oh this is the DELUXE version. NO KEYS FOR YOU!'

Wait, did I make a wrong turn and end up in the Poopees AOL 90s chat?

Also thanks for my next avatar. Creepy pervy Narukami loved the spastic cat so much I am sure he will love this one equally.

That was my main consideration. Like I'm sure I could sell off Alien Iso at some point to make some of my money back, but at this point I think the only thing that would make a monthly worth it for me would be something like SOMA

Just for reference, my tweet about the development time wasn't to imply a lack of faith or confidence in our game - it was to set proper expectations because it's not something to be played for hours and hours. It's a full game, but it doesn't have a huge breadth of content.

Since Humble hasn't explained this original game stuff at all yet (and it seems like they should have), you should all be aware that this is a BONUS game on top of the six games you're already expecting. If people are going to complain and stamp their feet (and cancel their subscriptions) over a freebie on top of what is already a great deal - I don't know what to say. It's people like that who are responsible for things like Club Nintendo going away. Even if you don't like it, or want it at all, it's free. Delete it and empty your recycle bin - move on. It didn't cost anything so who cares?

I don't think anyone has a problem now that you explained it, I just think the original concept - that it was replacing one of the 6 monthly games - was what had everyone riled up.

Makes sense and I totally figured that was the case. I could absolutely understand that.

ARK bundled already! Would look good in my backlog. Unfortunately I lack the patience and the system to play something like this.

Lots of people here already have ARK, which means I should be able to get an extra key, right?
Yeah, I'm probably moranbroing it just to have an extra copy of ARK, not sure what I'll do with it.

You want to know something funny? I Gilby's this monthly (with Alien Iso). I meant to buy it after Doomstink posted, but then took my dog on a walk (with no princess outfit, she only wears those in the house) and then when I came back it was after one. Then, I look at the games and don't really regret missing it....except for Elephant in the Room which looks to be fun. Funny how those things work.

Not terrible but ultimately nothing I'd have paid $12 for either.

Wow - ARK for next month? Steal at only $12 without considering the bonuses! Maybe we can have a full bro night of it again!
I nipped over to Steam and read some of the recent user reviews. Are CAGs still playing ARK? The last couple of patches apparently nerfed the hell out of the dinosaurs and caused users to ragequit the game.

I haven't played since Bronight, but people are still playing. The nerfing is a work in progress and last I played they were still changing things to balance things out. Nerfing was necessary though because some of them were just way too overpowered.

Another solid bundle of good-games-that-I-would-like-to-buy-but-am-afraid-that-they'll-be-bundled-plus-some-Double-Fine-shit games. Happy with this one.

Humble Monthly is getting incrementally better. Good times.

:whee:
