Humble Bundle Thread

My guess is they'll do a QuakeCon bundle of some sort on Thursday. Typically when they skip a week they'll say "No new bundle this week" or similar, and they havent done so. Could also be this week's bundle is not ready to launch yet.

They have a Quakecon sale going atm. Quakecon bundle would kinda defeat the purpose.
Hasnt stopped them before. They can also put shit in the bundle thats not in the sale. + QuakeCon doesnt start til Thursday. They do week long bundles for special events often.

That said, when you go to humblebundle.com it redirects to the store page. Looks like no bundle this week except for monthly.

Haven't they skipped several weekly bundles on the week that the monthly bundle releases?
Last month the PC and Android Bundle was still ongoing when the Monthly hit. I think the Sonic bundle was as well or had just ended. I dunno about May or June though. I don't think theres a method normally in that they specifically take off when a monthly is hitting.

Looks like this month's exclusive title.

Wow, that looks really good. I always wanted to watch cats get murdered by saw blades with Minesweeper in the back ground. - Gilby
Odd. I was thinking that looked like a FoxyPie sort of game when I saw indef's post. Not sure why, though.

Looks a bit frustrating for my taste.

A walking simulator. Just what I always wanted.
Not a fan of the genre either, but The Stanley Parable seems to be the best of the bunch (and actually interesting unlike most others) from what I've seen in letsplay's of it. Not sure about The Beginner's Guide, though I'll probably buy it if it goes for 75% off or more (or appears in a cheap enough bundle). Not really worth "gambling" with the Humble Monthly for it though IMO.

Looks like one of the games in the new monthly will either be The Stanley Parable or The Beginner's Guide.

I'm inclined to agree with the commenter in the link; Stanley Parable was in the Humble Jumbo 4, and while I can see Humble recycling stuff from monthlies to go into regular bundles because they have and they will, recycling stuff from regular bundles to go into the magical mystery bundle would really turn off a lot of subscribers.

I don't have either of those and Squatch played that F2P one during his Extra Life and it looked cool so I would welcome either.  I wasn't interested in the BTA for the Jumbo 4 so I skipped it.  I don't necessarily mind if BTA games end up in Monthly bundles because Humble BTAs have been getting ridiculous nowadays anyway so it's not a no brainer to BTA unless you want multiple games in that tier.  - Fox AKA The Humble Gilby

No problem, they just got all those subscribers to go for the 12-month plan.

One creepy unlock in the vampire books bundle:

Yeah, you lost me at "Vampire erotic novel"

And there's a "start your own tech company" pile of hot garbage too. Seriously, they probably just could have run the puzzle book bundle for another week. If this is the quality of some of the prospective game bundles, it's small wonder they've taken to skipping weeks.

That and Black Ops III Demo? Ouch.
If its The Beginner's Guide (and it pretty much has to be since Stanley has been in a regular bundle already and is 3 years old), I don't think its necesarily an ouch (yet). Yeah, The COD thing sucks, but they're easy to sell off (easy $4-$6) if you don't want it, and the other games could make up for it so far. I'd even go so far as to say The Beginner's Guide is a good start.

The COD thing is only bad for all you nerds who love ARPGs. Us real gamer bros appreciate it and think it's a real solid headliner.
Eh, I like shooters and thought it was a poor headliner. Assuming you put a $5 value on the starter BOIII full game costs $20. Not bad, not stellar. Not sure I would have bought the full game if I had known there was only 1 zombie map without DLC.

I've yet to see anyone asking for it at 4 bucks... I think you're valuing it too high.

The Beginner's Guide is like an hour and a half long according to steam... I hate to judge a game by its play length but your going to have to play it twice just to get your card drops. Also, I doubt it's got much replay value.

Just, ugh.

I put the value at $2. So $17 for the full game which was $3-4 less than it had previously been available through either shady sites or if you happened to luck out when the Amazon price bottomed out.

It's a strong headliner and I think it would have been stronger had they had the option for full upgrade directly on Humble sooner. The zombie thing is just COD nowadays. You want zombies you need the season pass or to buy DLC.

Another look at Disc Room, the Hamble Original for the August monthly.

Well that explains it. Some of those disc movements remind me of someone pouncing in agar.io. That's why I thought of Fox when I saw that tweet.

Wait. You put the value at $2 then say it is a strong headliner? Which other headliner would you say was worth less than $2? Would you generally be happy with the monthly, sans headliner, @ $10? I feel like you are either trolling or should be trolling.

Update: Got Black Ops III starter pack by trading yet another Hard Reset Redux copy. I just love Devolver Digital so much!

They're all $2 to me. I mean I tend to look at it as a whole really. Not to say one game is worth $5 and another $1, etc. I usually just say, okay am I happy that i paid $12 for these games?

Like, The Forest and Rocket League for $2 each? Absolute steals. Dungeon of the Endless or Wasted for $2 each? Not so much. Lukewarm at best. $12 over for both the Forest and Rocket League? Considering I paid more for each individually and considered my money well spent, then I thought that was a great bundle.

So I guess I would more so say it's a bit premature to judge, but I just don't distribute my money spent on the bundle in those chunks. I mean at most I would value the starter pack at $3.75 (75% off retail) if I had to break it down like that.

I sold mine for 3 keys this past weekend (which I can sell at $2 a pop or keep and use as trade currency), so the option is there and you can easily get 2 keys for it at anytime from the re-sellers who are buying in bulk on SG. I dont hate the idea of the COD thing, but I own BLOPSIII so it was nothing but a way to get the monthly at a discount by selling it off.

If The Beginner's Guide is a good game, then the entry point is fair IMO considering almost always the Monthly games are re-sellable. Its an easy sell off for $2 if you dont want it. $2 for a 2 hour experience based on average # of games in the monthly is fair value for a short high quality experience. You're gonna pay more for a movie rental most likely. If its good then I dont see a problem espc with 4-5 other games in the monthly. As for the card drops, thats what idling is for if the game is too short to get them in one playthrough. The thing about the Monthly is even if someone hates everything in the bundle (which likely wont happen) you can get your money back pretty easy.

So are we expecting a new game bundle today since Humble never said they weren't releasing a weekly bundle this week?

Apparently, there have been weeks they've taken off and not said anything. No, not expecting one, nor would I be surprised if there was one. I say the chance is low.

EDIT:

They actually commented to someone on Facebook about it on Tuesday, so nope, no new bundle

We're sorry for the disappointment! There's no new game bundle launching today, but we'll have a new bundle next week!

Yeah I am not surprised. I am pretty confident there were at least a few instances where they skipped a weekly bundle the week that the monthly bundle came out.

Hamble ended weekly/Thursday bundles five months ago (last one was March 3).

It's just Tuesday game bundles and Wednesday book bundles now, with the occasional Monday mobile bundle and of course the monthly bundles.

is Black Ops 3 free weekend multiplayer only? I'm assuming it is, I'm just wondering since it's only 1 steam game now rather than 3 (SP/MP/Zombies)

Ok the dude from steamgifts may have been slightly off. Andreas also worked on Random Access Murder which will be releasing today. Seems more likely than The Beginner's Guide. Making their debut in a Humble monthly, lol.

I'm not sure which one would have been the better game honestly.. but hey, this one has online MP.. so bronight tonight?

Meh, I hope it's The Beginner's Guide, though that debuting in a Humble isn't beyond the realm of possibility. It's a game jam award winner, and not saying game jam games can't be good, I believe Robot Roller Disco Derby was a similar situation, but I'd prefer something more polished as one of the main games. But maybe it's just one of those added bonus games, which in that case I wouldn't mind.
