I know it's selfish... but this is my story! GGT #45

I wish I had an HDTV to play GTAIV on, but I'll be forced to enjoy it on my Commodore 64 screen that actually has damn decent resolution for a SD TV.

Once I get my internship and then toyline done this summer I'll probably/hopefully have an HDTV >_<

this is not a pic I took, but this is exactly what my TV looks like >_<

at least I have a surround sound system, but then again that needs updating as well since it's about 5 or 6 years old >_

I have no shame answering any of this:

colleg student + everything I've owned in my life I've payed for it myself + most spending recently has gone to consoles...

the next big thing on my list to buy is a car and after that an HDTV, but it all depends.

also, if I finally get my arthouse toy and clothing line done over the summer I'm good for an HDTV definitly.

oh, and it dosn't help that I'm diabetic (not the fatass type) and need to constantly pay fro my insulin and whatnot.

damn crazy
but thats awesome how u can at least afford the consoles and games

im going to college next year and i need to get a job.....yeah im a slacker

also gl on the ty and clothing line u definitely talented with art:)

you know I've only played one Dragon Quest ever...

and it was the very first one when it was released on GBC as a two pack...

I never beat part 2

and I bought part 3 but I had a hard time playing it coz the wormlight on my GBA was too inconvenient and I couldnt see the screen very well, lol.

my parents jus got satellite TV and I think they wanna buy an HDTV soon... most likely with my money unfortunately (I make more than them lol)
Simple, my dear Watson! I played the games and didn't like them lol.

For example, I got DQ8 for $10 at CC during one of their clearances. I still felt ripped off...
That sucks you didn't like them. It really is a shock that you don't. Color me surprised!

I played a little Final Fantasy IX, but I probably won't have time for anything much until this weekend cause I'll be hella busy with work. At least my FES shipped yesterday. Now, if I can just get UPS to respond to my lost package everything would be golden.

They probably will. It's easy money.

Was stuff like DQ4 all that good, though? I loved 8, but it seems quite a bit different from the others.
Where's the love for FF1?
Man.
You kids got no respect for the classics.

Especially no respect for DQ.
*sigh*

DQ4 and 5 for DS though, that should be awesome... at least I think it's coming out on the DS?

Can't talk to my former coworkers anymore about their projects. They had problems with leaked information...
I didn't get into RPGs until FFIV. Any RPG released before FFIV, I just have too hard of a time getting into (one reason I did not keep FFIII on DS, really wanted to like it, but just too old for me).

DQIV is really good. A buddy and I played alot of it back in the day on the NES. Never beat it though. It had a really good presentation for a NES game and great story. From what I can recall, the game has 4 or 5 different chapters where you play as different characters. Then, in the last chapter, all the main chapter characters form a party. Something like that anyway. Been awhile.
Some people like to call it dated but I think it's a great system that doesn't need a lot of tinkering. It's just that people always expect outlandish crazy battle systems.
It needs tinkering. I don't expect an outlandish, crazy battle system. I just want more than Attack, Magic, Defend, Run. And no, charge up doesn't count.
random thought... anyone ever play that dreamcast game from the shin mugemi tensai guys, Maken X? I toally forgot I had that.
I won it in a contest. It was pretty cool, but quite hard. It really needed a 3rd person perspective, which the PS2 port added, but of course we didn't get the PS2 port.
They just announced a release date for DQIV in Europe.
DQ has been performing better in Europe, since I remember DQVIII doing way better there than here.

If DQ IV doesn't release here, I will import the Europe version. It's one of my favorite RPGs of all time, and I have such fond memories of it. Yes, it is old school, but it isn't hard old-school. The story is great and the characters are a lot of fun. The gameplay is simple (just choose fight, magic, item, run, etc) and the whole chapter system is unique.

Gamasutra put out a DQ retrospective a few months ago that is an awesome read for anyone who loves DQ or is interested in knowing more about each games, or go here if you just want a little info about DQ IV specifically.
Yeah, I loved those games too my H.S. years.

Anyway, I just found out Meijer has 20% off General Merchandise on Friday/Saturday. You better bet I will buy a game with this. Right now I'm debating if I should use it on Rock Band, and get it for $136.

But then I remembered, Meijer does do ad matching, and I wonder if I could bring in the CC ad, bringing it down to $150, then getting 20% off of that (getting Rock Band for $120). I'm tempted.

Or, I could just buy a DS3 for $44.
They are?!?!? Dang, I've gotta stay away because I don't need to spend anymore cash right now.
But, it might work since the discount comes off automatically when you scan your card so I don't think a pricematch would override that.

I kinda skipped out on the last GGT, I can't keep up with these things!

echochrome demo today for everyone without a JP psn account!

echochrome demo today for everyone without a JP psn account!
Yeah, when I called my Mom last night, she told me she got a call about it. I plan to buy a bunch of mailers while I'm there too. I'm tempted to get Rock Band, but I'll probably just get a Dual Shock 3 (I already have two PS3 controllers, but oh well). I'd love to get Mario Kart Wii with it, but it comes out a day later. :whistle2:(

Problem is, I can't really think of much I need that Meijer caries.

I have the echocrome demo, but I will download again.
Thanks for those links Krymner. Good stuff. I'm praying that the V and VI remakes come to the U.S.
No prob. I am also praying, and am prepared to make human sacrifices if I think it will hlep.

At least we ain't as fast as the OTT gang. Those $$$$as can go thru 1-2 500 post threads a day.

I was just reading about the news of 3 key Retro employees being escorted off the premises. Aren't the rumors saying they are supposed to be working on a Kid Icarus game for the Wii? Personally, I believe whatever game they are working on is a FPS using the MP3 engine.

I went over to my friend's house and played some halo 3 last night. because we couldn't have done that over xbox live... oh well. It was arright.

It's all balanced in the game and there's enough depth to still make it challenging without having to grind (although there are a few exceptions).

That's why it doesn't need that much tinkering.

Like SF2 Turbo... it doesn't have guard crushes, supers, parries, custom combos, tag systems, juggle combos, perfect defense, instant kills, ETEG but it's a damn fine game to play.

For example, I'm pretty sure there was a boss in DQ8 that had 3 main skills: an attack all for moderate damage, attack individual for high damage, and a skill that wipes your buffs. And at the time, you only have a single-target heal spell for moderate damage.

What should you do with your healer?
-A: Set tactics to "Defensive" so that you can heal "on reaction" and attack if you don't.
-B: Cast Acceleratle to ensure you get first healing in the next round while buffing your allies
-C: Psyche up to increase your heal on the next turn
-D: Defend, so that if you get hit you can heal it completely

These types of tactics make DQ totally fun. And I like how most of the bosses aren't gimmicky and just plain tough.

markman=pirate

confirmed?

I wish that collectors edition wasn't $90, because it looks real nice.

MM is part of the press, or a game dev.

We don't know.

If you want pirates well there is this other thread on CAG.

Joe: great analogy using a great game. ^_^

No, I'm not a pirate btw, work got GTA IV in the other day. I've been watching coworkers play, and it really is AMAZING. From what they told me the play mechanics (such as shooting and shooting/while driving) etc, have all been improved. Doesn't feel as sluggish.

The Collector's Edition is $90!? I reserved it without knowing the price lolol...

It looks like solid 30 unless a lot of shit is going on lol, you know how that is. It has it's drops. Nothing as bad as Assassin's Creed (from what I've watched so far though)...

Only watched for about 30 minutes...

I might dig into FES tonight.

I guess lost odyssey will be put to the side.

I think alot of the characters give off the uncanney valley feel to them.

Something is just unsettling about it.

Its like they all have ps2-esque animations in cut scenes.

I guess my sarcasm wasn't clear.. I know markman's not a pirate, he gets things early all the time..
