I know it's selfish... but this is my story! GGT #45

Picked up Sylpheed and Stuntman today. I didn't like the demos for either of them, but I'll try out stuntman first.

I tried to play Quake Wars with my tablet just to get some kind of entertainment value from it. No dice.

I did manage to kill a Strogg by throwing an ammo pack at him. I am 1337.

Yeah, Quake Wars was mega-disappointing. I'm glad I only played the demo and didn't waste money on the actual game. At least the other multiplayer shooter, UT3, was excellent.

The only reason I'm getting GTAIV on 360 is the DLC. Ok, that and most ppl I know and can play with given my timezone have 360 and Live.

I will try the MGO beta tonight, but I'm not real hopeful of "success" given the tech problems they've been having...

Edit: wow, if Valkyrie Chronicles plays as good as it looks:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/33274.html

dayum.

I can't wait for Valkyria Chronicles.

As much as I've been down on GTA IV, I'm actually getting a bit more interested in it now, but we'll see (PS3 version for me due to friends).

Also, to let the GGT know, I played Resistance for the first time since last year, and Roufuss killed me online 250-0. :p I don't care since I just play for fun (I'm not a hardcore gamer), but the 2nd match was a lot tighter.

Going to play Warhawk tonight with CAG, and I host the server.

As much as I don't like FFIX, I loooooove the remixes of the song Vamo 'alla Flamenco...

Plus I'm jammin' to Turnabout Orchestra / Jazz...

And I still gotta cop me the Xenogears soundtrack somewhere...

Man. When did VG music get so good?
I'm pretty tempted to preorder Mass Effect since it's only $40... I really hope this game is as good as people have been saying...
I heard it wasn't really that great after the initial hype wore off. Kinda like Bioshock in that regard I think. Still a good game, but it was a wee bit inflated around release.

Blasphemy. Mass Effect was easily one of my top 3 games of 2007, and it's good enough for a second playthrough to get to the DLC (which I also picked up).

I liked ME better than Bioshock (which I thought was also very good) but that game ended up grinding on me to a point where I didn't really want to play after a while. Still not sure I'll ever finish it and wondering if I should just sell it off.

I better start downloading the MGO beta now or I'll never get to play it later tonight... :p

Once Bioshock's environment oohs and ahhs wore off (which took a while, as they're very, very impressive) and you realized that the game itself isn't that fun ro anywhere near as creative as it could have been, it was kind of a let down.

MGO beta was running smooth for me earlier today.

lies. the story was flippin' awesome.
since i chose to save all the li'l sisters, i was way into it when i started becoming a big daddy so i could protect them and ultimately save them... and i had so much fun taking out big daddies with the electrobolt crossbow traps and the electric shotgun shells. :D
eh, it was alright. The diaries things were really cool, but it was pretty transparent from early on what was happening / going to happen, IMO.

But, as I said, my main beef was with the gameplay, not environment or story. I wanted to explore that environment, not play Halo in it. A little more Shadow of the Colossus vibe would've helped it a lot (i.e., fewer enemies, but make the enemy encounters special). Big daddies were a start, but too many annoying splicers for my taste.
Azumanga beat me 10 straight times in Sega Tennis...
Yeah I wiped the floor with you :D
Those were some fun hours. GGs!

Lies.

Mass Effect and Bioshock were awesome. My numbers 1 and 2 games of last year respectively.

I can't really comment on FF IX other than the fact that I thought it was boring. I keep trying to replay it and I can't get through it.

This Xenogears OST is really good! It's been a while since I listened to it, and now I got awesome headphones so I can really hear how good it sounds. I didn't know how good this soundtrack was till I listened to it again. It's funny because I think the graphics in Xenogears were bad to begin with and have just aged terribly, but I listen to the music and it's some of the best I've heard...

It's too bad we'll never see a remake of that game...

"Flight" and "Small Two of Pieces" are two of my favorite pieces of video game music ever... and I've never played Xenogears.

I really, really need to get the full soundtrack sometime.

ETA: Goddamit, now I have "Small Two of Pieces" stuck in my head. See what you did to me?

Bah, now you guys put me in the mood to listen to it. I need to go dig it up the OST now...
Lies.

If you'd stop playing all those Warriors games and maybe play something real like Mario Galaxy, you could better appreciate what a good game was. ;)

See how I made fun of your opinions and stated it in such a way as to imply that my opinions are better and more right? Pretty impressive, eh? I'm training for my "Complete Jackass" degree, and I think I'm almost there.

Persona 3 FES has arrived and is sitting on the shelf in its shrink wrap. After I get Mario Kart on Sunday I'm going to stop buying games until Ninja Gaiden 2 hits. I don't think I'm even going to open Persona until after school's out in May. Although I'm trying to figure out what I'll be playing on the Playstation once I finally sit down and beat Disc 2 of MGS. MGS2 or Persona 3? I'm leaning towards MGS2, cause, you know, I've started to dig them.
Yeah, Quake Wars was mega-disappointing. I'm glad I only played the demo and didn't waste money on the actual game. At least the other multiplayer shooter, UT3, was excellent.
Lies. Quake Wars is a very good online shooter, and is only surpassed by TF2 on PC. Its like battlefield, but its more directed and the game rewards you for helping out your team.
I'm pretty tempted to preorder Mass Effect since it's only $40... I really hope this game is as good as people have been saying...
Its 50.

It will fix all of the annoying things that Mass Effect did. Like having to use a controller.

Falso, InuFaye. It is $40 if you preorder it at Gamestop.

And FWIW, I definitely liked Bioshock a lot... the second half was a little weaker than the first, but it was still a lot of fun overall. Interestingly, I hated the demo when I played it on the 360 and almost didn't buy the game as a result. No idea why the two versions felt so different...
Ah sorry Chac.

I would still wait for the 14 dollar target clearance in like 2 months.
I wanna play it nao, (or at least when it ships), so $40 is still enough to tempt me. Now that I think of it, DMC4 is only retailing for $40, too... and that's out only like a week after ME. It's lower priority since I've played it already, but I do want that extra stuff somethin' fierce.

Are you going to be the new Jer?

I guess I have gotten better with holding off on games that are not top pirority and then picking them up later.

I have so much to play now, that I don't really need to buy anything new until NG2(Which is after GTAIV)

I have no will power so I know I cant do that.
Are you going to be the new Jer?
hmmm... I hadn't planned on it. I should maybe reevaluate a few things here.
Are you going to be the new Jer?
Daroga has not told us how we all spew vomit, and just because we don't all share the exact same opinion as him we are "tools"

I also had this weird dream last night where I was just doing regular things in real life, but I was experiencing lag in my real life. It was odd.

So, I popped in FES last night. Dayum, that game is addicting. I never had a chance to play Persona 3 when it first came out and I'm really enjoying it.
We must really disagree as of late since FFIX is my second favorite FF ever after FFVII. ;) Big fan of the cast of characters and love the setting. Would love to play it again, but I have no time these days.
Yeah, the characters are what makes me love FF IX too. Especially Steiner, Vivi, and Garnet/Dagger. I'm well into Disc 2 now and fast aproaching one of my favorite scenes where you save the princess and escape from Alexandria.
I can't really comment on FF IX other than the fact that I thought it was boring. I keep trying to replay it and I can't get through it.
I do agree that FF IX does have its boring moments, story-wise. But there are some really fun scenes thru-out the game that more than make sloshing thru the boring parts totally worthwhile.

I should have two of my best online friends see the FFIX comments, because it's there favorite RPG ever. One of my friends, had a big obsession with Vivi and would sleep with his Vivi plushie.

Anyway, kind of angry because my friend called me yesterday, told me he wondered if I'd be around today. I said yes, so he said he'll call me around noon to see about doing something, and no call so far. Oh well, looks like my day will be ruined, but I may just finally open up Rock Band and test it.

I think Vivi is probably the best-loved character of the game by a lot of people. When FF IX first came out, my GF at the time wasn't a fan of video games, but after watching me play for a couple hours one day she totally fell in love with the little black mage and watched me play most of the remainder of the game (and got mad as hell if I played without her watching!).

Sorry your day is ruined, Mana. This can help:

Unlike most games I don't like, FF IX I don't really have a reason other than it bores me when I play. That's it. The plot is decent, the game is kinda fun, but I just get bored...
Bah, now you guys put me in the mood to listen to it. I need to go dig it up the OST now...
Man.
You'd think you guys would be grateful for suggesting you listen to a great soundtrack =)

For some reason the defining track for me of that game is "Bonds of Sea and Fire." It's not even my favorite track on the list but when I think of Xenogears, I think of that song. And it's a great song.

And speaking of Beatmania, even though I havent' been able to play for about a week, I seem to be much better than before. In Distorted, I'm able to clear most of the level 8 songs and even some level 9 songs now. I feel so skillful!

ugly and looks like she might just be thinking about hitting puberty.

So P3 Fes- really addicting. They were clever to put the save points just before your daily opportunity to explore Tartarus, so you never really want to stop playing, because after tartarus, you can't save until the next day, when you're literally just a few moments away from going to tartarus again..

I enjoy that the characters are interesting and realistic, and not japanese loli/pedo stereotypes or rediculously exaggerated personalities.

And Mario Kart gets a big yawn. The auto powersliding and simplification seems a bit too much, and it looks too similar to previous games. Mario Kart DS was so good and I played so much of it that I'm just burnt out, and they aren't doing enough new. It's kind of like if Brawl had come out on the gamecube in 2004 or something, I would have felt the same.

I started replaying SMT: Nocturne on Friday night....

FF IX. Good memories with that game. It's in my top 3 FF games. It was the very first game I purchased with my first paycheck ever.
I wish I had an HDTV to play GTAIV on, but I'll be forced to enjoy it on my Commodore 64 screen that actually has damn decent resolution for a SD TV.

Once I get my internship and then toyline done this summer I'll probably/hopefully have an HDTV >_<

this is not a pic I took, but this is exactly what my TV looks like >_<

at least I have a surround sound system, but then again that needs updating as well since it's about 5 or 6 years old >_
