Unless it's something I know that absolutely won't drop in price soon, ala GTA 4, Mario Kart, Brawl, or whatever, I simply wait.
I wait for a sale, new or used, they always seem to pop up. I got 1 - 2 month old 360 games at EB for $35 used with that coupon... Lost Odyseey looks like it was never touched, at all. Perfect condition. Gamestop looks to be doing these coupons every 2 - 3 months too, so I'll wait for the next one, and grab some games like Bully dirt cheap when it happens.
Dark Sector is $40 next week at Circuit City... real glad I waited. Bully is $35 right now. Both games are a month out from release.
There is simply too many $60 games, and consumers are only buying a handful of them, so most of them drop, and drop hard. It's the only way to get them to take notice.
The next game I pay full price for is Ninja Gaiden 2, and then MGS 4. Unless it's something really niche or huge, I simply wait. If it's an online game, there will still be a community two months after launch if it's decent, and if there isn't, well... I guess it wasn't worth playing.
Its more then simply being down to 40 dollars in months, its the fact that almost always the early adpoters get

ed over.
Games lose there value so much, bleh.
I might just skip the generation after this one because I could still play alot of awesome games I did not get.
I mean nintendo skipped out on this generation, why can't I skip out on the next one.
sounds like thats the version most are getting i cant wait to try out free mode and cops and crooks

I think this is how GTA will go.
1. Everyone is Uber Hyped for GTA4 from the reviews and media.
2. Everyone buys GTA4 and then plays it.
3. Everyone talks about how much they like it.
4. Suddenly out of nowhere people talk about how bad of a game it is, and you are stupid for liking it, and some other game is the shit.
5.???
6. PROFIT.
