I know it's selfish... but this is my story! GGT #45

Now that I've ordered my sound card, I can't wait for it to get here... despite that I refuse to put the card in until my speakers are here.
I don't know what a good quality duffel bag would be like anyway... for all I can tell, the only real difference is brand name, and I'm not one to look flashy with an Jordan duffel bag anyway =)

It's all good, gas already shot the savings from Fry's to hell anyway. It was an excuse to go to my favorite ice cream store too.
Well, I'm not saying you get a brand name one, no need to be flashy. What I was trying to get across is that the GTA bag might be poorly made and therefore less durable than a regular gym bag.
Persona 3 FES tore me away from Tales of the Abyss.

At this rate I'll miss the entire PS3/Xbox360 generation.
It's all good. Go ahead and enjoy FES. You're not missing out on anything on the PS3/360 that you can play later(possibly cheaper too). Only thing you'll be missing out on is online competition from when a game is new/fresh(assuming said game has online multi).

SO HAVE FUN!

I NEVER FELT LIKEEEEEEEEEEEE

I think this is the last generation where I end up getting every console on release.
Its not worth it to get burned on 60 dollar games to find out that they are fucking 30 dollars in mere months.

I am gonna hold out on my xbox360/ps3 for another 6 years before I buy anything.

I hope to god that microsoft does not release another xbox in 2 years.
Its WAY to fucking early to be thinking about buying more hardware.

Unless it's something I know that absolutely won't drop in price soon, ala GTA 4, Mario Kart, Brawl, or whatever, I simply wait.

I wait for a sale, new or used, they always seem to pop up. I got 1 - 2 month old 360 games at EB for $35 used with that coupon... Lost Odyseey looks like it was never touched, at all. Perfect condition. Gamestop looks to be doing these coupons every 2 - 3 months too, so I'll wait for the next one, and grab some games like Bully dirt cheap when it happens.

Dark Sector is $40 next week at Circuit City... real glad I waited. Bully is $35 right now. Both games are a month out from release.

There is simply too many $60 games, and consumers are only buying a handful of them, so most of them drop, and drop hard. It's the only way to get them to take notice.

The next game I pay full price for is Ninja Gaiden 2, and then MGS 4. Unless it's something really niche or huge, I simply wait. If it's an online game, there will still be a community two months after launch if it's decent, and if there isn't, well... I guess it wasn't worth playing.

well, I'm back.. been gone all weekend with my cousins. was nice since it took my mind off the wait for GTAIV.

I'll be at Gamestop at 6pm tomorrow... anyone know wtf they plan on doing? I'm just wanting free crap.

We need to setup some online GTAIV GGT online matches this week.
Why on earth would you be there at 6 pm?
I was going to ask the same thing. My store isn't letting people get their pickup slips until 9:30-10.
I got a phone call from the scary GS girl saying events will start at 6pm till midnight... I guess it's games and prizes or something.
Some customers here were saying they got that call too. We had no idea why since we have nothing planned lol.

Holy shit, I would never spend 6 hours straight in a Gamestop... I think I would probably blow my brains out, the combination of the smell, the fanboyism, the boredom, it would just be too much.

I guess it's different behind the counter Rei... I could never do your job. Actually, I worked for EB for a total of one day, and I quit... was horrible. I didn't even last the whole day. So yea, I definitely couldn't do it lol.

I'm just going to get to Wal-Mart at about 11:55 pm, and hopefully be home by 12:15 - 12:20. Hell, most of the people at the Gamestop's here probably won't even have their game yet, because they all so painfully slow.

Depends how they do it. My store is the busiest in the disctrict, and one of the busiest in the region. We have over 500 preorders for GTAIV, and we'll most likely have everyone out of there at 12:30 at the latest.

We have people start "buying" their game at 9:30, then at midnight you just show your receipt, pick up your game and leave.

As for the job sucking, I'm with you on that. In fact I had a huge fight with my boss today over how much the job sucks. So bad I'm still in shock he didn't fire me. Only one more year of school and I can leave...

They hired me for seasonal, filed out the paperwork, did all of that... then they forgot they hired me. I kid you not. They told me they would put me on the schedule and call me when I could come in and train... a week goes by, no call.

I go in, talk to the manager, who tells me that she forgot to put me on the schedule, so I would have to wait until NEXT week to start working... I knew right then and there this isn't some place I wanted to work. The manager tells me it might even be longer, because she's quitting because the company sucks, and that I could do a lot better for myself, so I pretty much quit right there.

As a bonus, she let me use the employee discount I had (since I was hired) on anything I wanted... I got Portrait of Ruin at the time because I had it preordered.

From looking around at these stores, I think I made the right decision... not knocking your job, but yea, I definitely couldn't do it. I worked R-Zone at TRU for a few months, and it really just killed my drive to game, since I didn't even want to look at them dealing with the stupid questions I got all day about them.

The store I went to for Guitar Hero 3 in NY did the same thing, and it STILL took forever... but damn, 500? The Wal-Mart I'm going to will be lucky to have 10 people, lol.

it takes me 5 min to walk to my gamestop, so if nothing happens after 6pm, I'll walk back home and/or watch a movie to kill time. I set aside this entire week for this.

Man, I really wish I could just take my Business Law final now because A) I'm going to rape it like I did the last test and B) I want to go home.

I'm thinking that I want to play Oblivion (start a new game) tomorrow... not sure why I wanna play that game so badly now, but I do. I'll finally get a chance to check out them shivering isles.

I worked that too. I actually really enjoyed it. Unless it was Christmas time I had to deal with only like 4 customers a day, and the managers there were awesome. They'd buy us lunch all the time and shit.

I so should have stayed there...

Its more then simply being down to 40 dollars in months, its the fact that almost always the early adpoters get fucked over.

Games lose there value so much, bleh.

I might just skip the generation after this one because I could still play alot of awesome games I did not get.

I mean nintendo skipped out on this generation, why can't I skip out on the next one.
sounds like thats the version most are getting i cant wait to try out free mode and cops and crooks
I think this is how GTA will go.

1. Everyone is Uber Hyped for GTA4 from the reviews and media.
2. Everyone buys GTA4 and then plays it.
3. Everyone talks about how much they like it.
4. Suddenly out of nowhere people talk about how bad of a game it is, and you are stupid for liking it, and some other game is the shit.
5.???
6. PROFIT.
Ice Cream Store!!

I went to PinkBerry last nite for my 2nd time ever...

the 1st time I went I was like "got damn this shyt is so overrated but I'm intrigued by that shaved ice"

so I go again and get the shaved ice and I'm like "wtf this is not even that good"

so now I'ma never go to pinkberry again
yea son, mega overrated.

i do like that style of yogurt though. so maybe one of these days, a pinkberry ripoff will be better than the actual thing.

i love the sour pangs of real yogurt...

360 because I'm not foolish enough to buy a PS3.. ;)

And not the "they saw me coming and i've got too much money" $90 version either.

Yes, Persona 3 and Team Fortress 2 rock. They're both better than anything you're playing. So there.

yeah I can't wait to start lost odyssey again, i'm getting a package from back home that includes my hard drive and my 360 games that I had left there

i just got lost odyssey on friday and its great though i have no idea how im gonna beat it with gta looming

btw the dreams are very well done

yeah I got about 10 hours into lost odyssey before I left for wisconsin almost 2 months ago. A weekend visit turned into semi-permanent residence.

Every uber-hyped game goes like that- the 2-3 week later backlash is always funny.
Am I the only one who is not going to buy/play GTA4?
Yes. go revel in your uniqueness and we'll all get to work on making you a crown-we agreed on the engraving today- "King of all things not along with the grain"

Gamers are predictable as clockwork. Every big hyped release, there's always guys who "Am I the ONLY one not interested? bhaw, bhaw, guffaw!"

Maybe he just doesn't like GTA... I don't understand it, but to each his own.

Thanks. I don't like open-world and most 3rd person action games. I have played GTA3 and I have San Andreas but I just can't get into it. It seems that EVERYONE else likes this series/style of game. am i doin it rite? Maybe I will go try it again. I didn't mean to upset you.

well that's a bit more reasonable of a response. No, not everyone likes this style of game or any style of game. It is fun just to screw around in the game and make your own style of play, like trying to lure cops into the lake, or taking turns with a buddy running from the police, or whatever you happen to think of that makes the game more fun beyond the missions and things Rockstar has put in. That open-ended nature makes some of the game's best qualities difficult to define.

GTA has a lot of "intangible value" that just comes from playing it that varies from person to person.
Am I the only one who is not going to buy/play GTA4?
I'm not going to buy/play it right now , maybe in a few months when it's on sale , or when I've cleared some more of my backlog. Not like the game is going anywhere anyway , and maybe by then , I'll know whether the much talked about DLC for the 360 version actually makes the game that much better than the PS3 version.

I'm a very patient person.:)

Haven't kept up with the news but is midnight release for gta4 happening tonight (in ~22hrs) or tomorrow night at midnight (~46hrs)? I was thinking the second option but I think I got it confused with ship date but haven't got a clue.

If anyone else picking gta4 wants to add me on xbox live they can (can always use more friends).

.
It's not really that they lose value, it's that every developer and publisher thinks their game will be the next Halo 3, the next Gears of War, so they charge the same price. Also, studies have shown that if your game comes out at $30, the average consumer thinks it's of shitty quality and just skips over it. Yea, people on CAG buy it, but the average consumer skips it.

Like I wrote earlier, it's not so much losing value, it's just this is companie's only way to stay competitive. I guess it's better to be on sale for a week and still retain value, then pull a Sega Superstars Tennis and become worthless.

It's also because, if you take a look at most stores, they simply don't have room for a lot of these games.. and if your game isn't selling, it's better to drop price and have it sell, then the retailer gets stuck with it and never orders your product again (see SNK, nobody is touching their fighting compliations with a ten foot pole except Gamecrazy now, because they all got burned on the first 4 games).

Unless it's a super hyped game that gets good reviews, it's going to drop, and quick these days. Publishers would rather sell out of all the excess copies of say, Bully, to stock more GTA 4 and not so much Bully anymore. If a store sells out of say, 15 copies of Bully, they will probably get restocked with 2 Bully and 13 GTA 4's now, since they want the space for product to sell.

I'm really surprised the industry just hasn't collapsed on itself, to be honest.

Wow... looks like they finally got the gameplay down in GTA. I watched the video review on Gametrailers and that shit looks good. Reminds me of Shenmue in a lot of ways, for whatever reason.

I'm still gonna hold out until they announce the PC version and see if that's got any exclusive content or anything...

So we went to best buy today to get a new 360 headset since ours broke, and I witnessed a mother with her bratty 10 year old asking the clerk about when GTA4 was going to be on the PS2.

Tears ensued.

Eh, I won't skip out on good games. Don't really care what "generation" they are in.

Although, I must say that stuff NES-era and older generally looks like shit and is harder to stomach with all the awesome HD quality stuff we have now.

Heck, even MGS on PSOne looks like a blocky, pixelated mess. But it's still pretty fun to play despite that.

This is why Stylized> Realistic.

Sure Realistic looks slick at the time, but it does not hold the test of time.

Look back at Windwaker it still holds up, and I will argue its one of the prettiest games Nintendo ever made.

I wish they would make a good windwaker sequel.

I also need a new Futon Mattress.

Would anyone like to inform me on what a good futon mattress from amazon consists of?

Yes , windwaker was a very pretty game , too bad so many people couldn't get past the art design. Also , was I the only one that thought the windwaker story was one of the darker zelda stories (second only to Ocarina of Time)?

I think the chance of a (good) windwaker sequel is pretty good. They already did phatom hourglass which seems to show that nintendo may be considering keeping the OoT/WW continuaity seperate from the rest of the games.
