Happy Birthday, MarkMan!!! So, are you classified as an old bastard, yet. ;)

How many TVs do you have? I know you have a big living room TV, but don't you also have a white Samsung LCD for your white PS3?

Happy birthday, markman! hope you have a lot of lol with good friends and good games.

8 hours into P3Fes and I only started playing two days ago. I'm getting that marathon play session feel from this game..
I just had to get fitted for a tux.

At least I have a respectable top hat.
I did the same a few weeks ago. I have my suit right now ready to wear on Monday. I will take pics.
I think Vivi is probably the best-loved character of the game by a lot of people. When FF IX first came out, my GF at the time wasn't a fan of video games, but after watching me play for a couple hours one day she totally fell in love with the little black mage and watched me play most of the remainder of the game (and got mad as hell if I played without her watching!).

Sorry your day is ruined, Mana. This can help:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfF_vmRIeD4
Yeah, Vivi is very much loved.

Thankfully, he finally called me and we did something. I was a bit worried because sometimes he does not call.
Today is my birthday today. :)

I'm going shopping for a new small TV later on. ^_^
Happy Birthday Markman. :D I hope you are having a great birthday. ;) You turning 26? If so, that's how old I will be this year in September.

Anyway, I think I remember telling people in the GGT how I backed out of one sale at CAG because I felt everything seemed too suspicious. It appears that person has scammed a few CAG members (a thread about it), so I'm kind of glad I did back out, although I got scammed later.

Anyway, I played some DW6, PixelJunk Monsters, Halo 3, PGR4, and so on with my friend today. Mostly just a lot of PS3/360.

What day in september?

do u have Beard Papa in SD??

you should buy one for yourself... which in spirit would be a gift from me even tho I didnt pay for it...

my motivation is the best gift of all anyways!!

I named my character in Persona 3 Beard Papa,

the old couple at the bookstore calls me Beard-Kun!!

Happy Birthday MarkMan! :)

I've spent pretty much the entire day manually fixing the reviews in the fanfiction section of a site I run. At least I had the sql backups, otherwise I would've lost them all. I hate upgrading scripts D:
September 4th. I will be 26 years old. I don't even feel that old. :whistle2:(
Seriously? Wow... I thought you were like 22 or something.

yeah, it made me laugh to think someone older than me acts like that.

Is it just me or do you guys really like rpgs?

RPG wise I've been playing The World Ends With You, so much better than I thought it would be. The action rpg combat is so much better than anything you'd find in a Kingdom Hearts game, for anyone afraid of that.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes!

I like RPGs. But not as much as some out there.

I LOVE games in general though.

Played more Final Fantasy IX and Etrian Odyssey. Didn't get much sleep because of a bad toothache. My neighbor gave me some kick-ass painkillers, so hopefully I'll be alright until I can get to the dentist on Monday. Damn toothaches suck.

I took Benadyrl last night for this pounding sinus headache and ended up going to bed at around 9:00.

I woke up at 6, and I played 4 hours of Lost Odyssey.

I just hit disc 3, and everyone in my party is level 50.

Managed to finish 4 games this week!

Ratchet & Clank Future
Resistance
Condemned
Lego Star Wars Complete Saga (to be fair, I was already half done).

Took a big chunk out of my backlog while the fiancee is on vacation... too bad I just added 6 more 360 games and a Wii game, but that's besides the point ;) The only two games I've started but not finished are Halo 3 (which I should probably do since it's short) and Etrian Odyssey.

Back to more Mario Kart!

Lawl, I ordered Metal Slug 6 from Play-Asia (along with my two controller converters for the Dreamcast) and now the status of that game's changed from "ships within 24 hours" to "ships within 1 week." I always get the last copy these guys have.

Still excited for SNK Arcade Classics on monday...
Wow, you're excited about the totally wrong game on Monday ;)
What's the right game? If it's GTA, I'm waiting for the PC version... I'm tempted to pick it up since it really sounds like they fixed the broke-ass shit from the previous games, so it should finally be the game it always should've been... but I'm gonna try to wait it out. Already got sorta screwed over by DMC4

On another note, I'm getting to know the lady who works overnight at Electronics at Wal-Mart very well.

She was there for Brawl, she was there for Mario Kart, she told me she'll be there again for GTA 4 lol.

Luckily, no one shops at this Wal-Mart... they go to the other ones or Gamestop for midnight releases. For Brawl, there was 2 people in line, and for Mario Kart, there was just one... and I got to the store at around 11:55 pm both nights.

I was out of the store in my car by 12:06 am... it certaintly beats Gamestop. I'm hoping everyone just avoids this Wal-Mart too for GTA 4, I can be back home playing it before anyone at the Gamestop's have even bought it yet.

Out of curiosity, what version are you getting?

I barely use my PC anymore... I just use my consoles for console games, and the PC for PC games... which isn't a lot, but Team Fortress 2 and some of the others are good enough for me.

It was good to see Infinity Ward give PC the finger though, don't know where that came from.

Plus, I noticed with the consoles ports, they don't have nearly the online fanbase that the consoles version do, or the netcode is shitty. For me, PC gaming isn't just worth it anymore.

I'd be surprised if Rockstar even did a PC version, at least any time soon, because if the DLC is as big as the rumors say, they'll probably be working on that. And the PC won't be getting that either...

Suko, I'm getting the 360 for Achievements (ha, I know) and Live... PSN is only really good when the developer really works at it, like Resistance or Hot Shots Golf. I got a feeling Rockstar put a lot of effort into Live, not so much into PSN. Oh, also for that DLC in the Fall too.

just saw the gametrailers review for gta and

btw for anyone who has mario kart how is it?
are the reviews right on the problems?

1up yours basically trashed Mario Kart Wii, and said that it favors random luck over skill now, and that its nowhere as good as the other games.

What are you talking about?
I got a feeling Rockstar put a lot of effort into Live, not so much into PSN. Oh, also for that DLC in the Fall too.
If Rockstar got the PS3 version looking better, I highly doubt they took a shortcut with PSN. There has been a bunch of third party devs which have done a good job with PSP (Burnout Paradise especially, where it's crazy easy to get online with friends on PS3, which I have a feeling GTA IV on PS3 does).

Mario Kart has always been about the items that can potentially turn the tables. They weren't totally down on it, they gave it mostly C scores. It does feel too soon after Mario Kart DS, and too samey. I'm not excited for it at all, maybe at a lower price.
What are you talking about?
I'd also like to know.

MK will drop in price when the next nintendo console comes out.
1up yours basically trashed Mario Kart Wii, and said that it favors random luck over skill now, and that its nowhere as good as the other games.
But IGN says otherwise....

I don't really know though, it seems that reviewers have been sort of a mixed bag with this one. However, every board I go to I can't find one single member disappointed. Whether that's just hyped up impressions, only time will tell.

Sure, they may have missed a lot of great opportunities like making freeforall battle mode and balancing items a bit more, but they also got a lot of stuff fixed like a fantastic online and no snaking. Even with all of its flaws, I'm sure it excels in the most important aspect, fun.

I just have a good feeling about this one, I'd be surprised if it's anything less than awesome. It better be though, too late to cancel the preorder.....
I'd also like to know.

MK will drop in price when the next nintendo console comes out.
Pretty much, because IMO, Nintendo is the least likely publisher (even more so than Atlus) to drop prices. What might make Nintendo games cheap is if they choose to release it at a Player's Choice, and/or getting in several used copies. Outside of that, I just have a hard time finding Nintendo stuff cheap unless there's some kind of YMMV clearance at Sears.

.....so nervous right now about tomorrow. Less than 24 hours when my future is decided.

I played some Mario Kart Wii today. It's OK. It's Mario Kart. I miss the 2 rider system. And I hate to sound like a graphics whore, but the game has a blurry ass look to it, like some kind of shitty filter is applied to the whole game, making 480p look like 480i. Mario Kart Double Dash looks cleaner, so there's no excuse. And the whole game does seem to rely more on getting screwed over by items, more so than earlier games in the series. Online seemed pretty decent, which is a plus.

REAL tempted to get GTAIV this week. It will be for PS3 if I do. $10 GC at CC plus the HYPE WAVE that's hitting hard are the two factors.

I will be @ GS for the midnight launch for GTAIV, which I haven't done for any game ever.

DLC and Live are the two main reasons I'm getting the circle version, but those are the only two features I can find favorable over the Triple (don't care too much about Achievements anymore).

Nintendo rarely disappoints their fans, so that's the positive comments. Point being if you like the Mario Kart series you're probably going to like this one.

If you didn't like it, it's not going to change your mind or if you were getting sick of the series (as I am) it's not going to do much for you either as it's just more of the same as there's not really much you can do innovative in this genre.

Mario Kart sorta is more about luck now, make sure you boost at every corner you need to and draft when you have a chance.

Drafting is MUCH more helpful now than in any other game...

Damn... I dunno about Mario Kart anymore... I mean, is it still fun? I don't necessarily expect the most competitive racing game of all time, but I don't want to play a piece of shit just because they plastered Nintendo shit all over it...

Anyway, I picked up Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath... coz CnC3 is neato.

And I'll finally have my computer back at home where it belongs tomorrow. And be done with finals.

Since my copious paypal cash still exists and is good for spending on those games, the next purchase is gonna be P3 FES and SNK Arcade Classics as soon as the latter is available.

More Lost Odyssey.

Damn this game is good.

GTAIV looks awesome, but I dont need to midnight launch.

When I get my game on tuesday I will be happy enough.

I went to two different Fry's and neither of them had FES.

Markman, this is all your fault!
You wished me an early happy birthday! =)

I'm mega-tempted to get the GTA4 LE because it comes with a duffel bag and I need a new one... but I don't even like thinking about paying $60 just for the game. Ughhhh~

Mario Kart is still FUN.

I don't know how long that is gonna last though. I'm still playing it though. (for about 2 weeks now). Just whenever ppl come over and we feel like 4 player actionz.

Joe: SORRY!

I can check the Fry's around here if we have any more if you'd like lol.

If you like Mario Kart, you'll like the Wii game. I think it's better than Double Dash (and I liked DD). Pretty sure I've already played it more than MK DS. I don't know that there's any more luck than there has always been. Though certainly with 12 racers instead of 8, you'll have more shit thrown at you.

The new tracks are really good, though.

The bag will most likely be of cheap quality. You'd be better off going to Ross and finding one on the cheap.
I don't even know why I pre-ordered the LE. I guess I didn't want to miss out on the cool stuff. Bah.
What are you talking about?
Every third party game I ever tried with PSN was a clusterfuck... either it was missing features, or was impossible to get into a game with friends. Guitar Hero 3 was the biggest offender. Even on games it does work awesome with, like CoD 4, the developers tend to favor the 360.

Live is streamlined, much easier to use, and I'd much rather just use that... like I said before, I got a feeling the 360 version will outsell the PS3 one, and with Rockstar working on that 360 DLC, they will probably favor the 360 version as well. Yea, CoD 4 is awesome on PS3, but 360 still got the patches and maps sooner (and I highly doubt it was because of the store maintence), Guitar Hero 3 got it's patches sooner, just seems like dev's favor the 360.

That's just a guess on my part. I'm sure some people have had great experiences with PSN, but in my experience other than a Sony game, it's been a bad experience.

Plus, the eventual DLC definitely sways my opinion, as does most of the people on my friends list getting the game too, so there will be tons of people to play with. For you people that are getting it on PS3, enjoy, but a few bad experiences and I'm not really willing to take a risk when I'll mostly be playing the online. Live is proven to work and work well, so I'll just stick with what works ;)

Most PSN games have issues if you do not configure your router correctly (like CoD4 for an example).

I don't know if the CoD4 devs tried to favor 360 because it runs and plays fantastic on PS3. 360 version has its own edges while the PS3 version has it own edges.

Try Burnout Paradise online, and you'll see what I mean on a third party PS3 online game can work out well. From what I've seen, GH3 wasn't bad, but that was just me.

Actually, you seem to forget there is a GTAIV bundle in Europe and the PS3 versions of games tend to outsell the 360 version throughout Europe, like CoD4 did (the GTA devs are from Europe), meaning either version could sell more (360 is more NA, PS3 is more Europe).

And not sure if you heard (I gotta dig up the article), but one developer at Rockstar North stated he preferred the look of how PS3 graphics are )Since 360 and PS3 graphics have differences).

I know you prefer 360/XBL and that's cool (I still

I don't know what a good quality duffel bag would be like anyway... for all I can tell, the only real difference is brand name, and I'm not one to look flashy with an Jordan duffel bag anyway =)

It's all good, gas already shot the savings from Fry's to hell anyway. It was an excuse to go to my favorite ice cream store too.

Ice Cream Store!!

I went to PinkBerry last nite for my 2nd time ever...

the 1st time I went I was like "got damn this shyt is so overrated but I'm intrigued by that shaved ice"

so I go again and get the shaved ice and I'm like "wtf this is not even that good"

so now I'ma never go to pinkberry again
