FFX quote FTW, from Tidus!!

Anyway, FFX is a game I just really like.

I gave it 5 stars. I actually wanted to use the quote:
FFX related:
"This is my story. It'll go the way I want, or I'll end it here."
, but this is close enough.
What's your story, Mana Knight? Yeah, yeah, it's a quote from FFX and all... tell me a story.

1 star.
I agree. I was promised a story and I demand one.

I just beat Assassin's Creed. I really enjoyed the game. The ending was weird. Now I really want to play AC2. The last hour or two of the game was really fun.
i knew who made this topic the moment i saw the title.

damn nomura lover. =)
Haha, yeah I am a big Nomura lover. Next GGT I make will have nothing to do with Nomura (unless I do something FFVII related).

Well, there are a ton of RPG series I like, but the main ones my heart is closest to are (ones which always get 20+ hours of play time):
-Final Fantasy IV-X
-Grandia series (I even liked Xtreme, but have not beat III despite being almost done due to a hard battle)
-Kingdom Hearts series
-Star Ocean series (I'm a big fan of the 2nd and 3rd)
-Xenosaga/Xenogears series

Expect GGT titles from those RPGs.

I really like Tales, Lunar 1 & 2, Atelier Iris series, Wild Arms series (well, except the third and Alter Code F), etc., but those 5 are the main RPG series I like.

If everyone wants me to tell a story, I will because I have tons. ;)
Lunar and Grandia owned my life in highschool
Yeah, I loved those games too my H.S. years.

Anyway, I just found out Meijer has 20% off General Merchandise on Friday/Saturday. You better bet I will buy a game with this. Right now I'm debating if I should use it on Rock Band, and get it for $136.

But then I remembered, Meijer does do ad matching, and I wonder if I could bring in the CC ad, bringing it down to $150, then getting 20% off of that (getting Rock Band for $120). I'm tempted.

Or, I could just buy a DS3 for $44.

I love RPGs but have fallen way behind in playing them. Out of those you mentioned:
Final Fantasy IV-X - Still need to play V , IX and X.
Grandia - Have one and two , haven't played either.
Kingdom Hearts - Have one and two , haven't played either.
Star Ocean - Have 2nd story but haven't played it.
Xenosaga/gears - Beat Xenogears and loved it. Haven't played any of the saga games.
Tales Series - Have a few , haven't played any.
Lunar - Have all three , beat the first but not the second or third.
Wild Arms - Beat the first , but haven't played the rest.

Man that list seems really pathetic.

Well to put a more positive spin on things , many of the RPGs I have beaten , I've beaten several times. FFVII I've probably beaten half a dozen or so times. FFT over a dozen with various goofy teams. FF8 about 3 times , once being a low level challenge (which was quite fun). Xenogears about 4 times (once being a low level challenge too I believe , or some kind of specialized challenge).

No Devil Summoner for me. Case was all beat up (yes, it's "new"), someone apparently took all the stickers off the case with their fingernails. Not to mention the GTA: Vice City ("new") with generic GameStop cover art. Yay used-to-be-EB Games!

FES shipped though, that's rounds out my good day.

Hey, wheres the Suikoden love! I really need to get V but there's so much out that I need to finish or get that it will be a long long time.

Just remember, the first 10 hours is pretty boring. It's like a huge introduction into the game. However, once you get past that part the game becomes super awesome.

I'm 30 posts too late but: I'd camp out for a new system, except:
1. No one would go out there with me
2. Launch games blow.
So, not worth it.

I actually bought a Dreamcast at launch. I went out to Wal-Mart at midnight to get mine.

I also got my original Xbox at launch, but went to EB as soon as they opened (8 AM).

I got my Dreamcast about a year after it came out for about $100 from Wal-mart (again with damn wal-mart:roll:) mainly cause my mom was working there at the time.

I got my xbox free from taco bell the january after it came out. If it wasn't for that I may not have ended up being an xbox supporter.

I'm tempted to pick up a ps3 when that MGS4 bundle comes out but I don't know if I should.

I got my Dreamcast on day one at EB games along with Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventures, House of the Dead 2, Blue Stinger, and NFL 2K. Good Times.

Where's the love for FF1?
Man.
You kids got no respect for the classics.

Especially no respect for DQ.
*sigh*

DQ4 and 5 for DS though, that should be awesome... at least I think it's coming out on the DS?

Can't talk to my former coworkers anymore about their projects. They had problems with leaked information...

I like FF1. I like every FF except for 11, even ones like X-2 and XII. I cannot wait for FFXIII.

And I want a Dragon Quest for PS3 or 360. I loved DQVIII, and I just imagine what they could do with some real power. Just look at pictures of the new Naruto PS3 game and imagine a DQ that looks like that. . .

I've been playing Lost Odyssey, but it's slow going so far. I just can't play it for more than 30 minutes. It hasn't gotten its hooks in me yet. But I've been an ADD gamer as of late, shotgunning through game after game. I've been mowing through my shmups, with the occasional fighter.

schedule for my evening:

shower
do sum math problems
play FES

poor Rondo of Swords... I wonder how much attention I'll be able to give it now that I got FES

I actually managed to go all day without playing any games.

I watched Taxi Driver for the first time, and I just realized what a fantastic movie that it is.

I did play some Bleach DS today so my earlier statement is false.

Bleach DS rocks. I will play more on the ride to work tommrow.

FES will be here tommrow along with my evangelion platnium collection.

That is it I am done with buying games until MGS4. (I am literally going to get my girlfriend to hide my debit and credit cards). Yay for no willpower.

I didn't play any games last Saturday and Sunday. Having a bachelor party, wedding rehearsal, and wedding all crammed into one weekend kinda killed any chance I had of playing any games. BTW, it wasn't my wedding. :)

InuFaye, from my experience they don't(gameplay wise). They're very traditional. The presentation is a bit different in each game though.(Chapter based story etc.)

---

Not only is 2008 the year of the fighting game. It's also the year of the arcade stick. ^_^

It seems like I will be content with just beating out DQ8, and waiting to get DQ9 on DS sometime next year.

I loved DQ8. 118 hours of playtime, and I enjoyed every minute. I put about 50 hours into DQVII and I got stuck. I never did find what I needed to find, and now I don't remember anything about where I am. Which sucks.

I wonder how long DQIX will be? I don't want to spend 100 hours playing my DS. My eyes will be fried.

Although you don't see large sweeping changes like Final Fantasy, there are subtle changes that do affect the game.
3, 6 and 7 have a class system
1, 2, 4 and 5 are more conventional with their levels
And 8 kinda mixes the two.

The DQ3 remix introduces personalities that affect stat growth.

4 was the first to introduce that wagon system and tactics.
5 was the first to introduce the monster party system.
7 added monster classes in addition to a lot more hybrid classes.

The constant addition of new skills keeps the game fresh every time.
Some people like to call it dated but I think it's a great system that doesn't need a lot of tinkering. It's just that people always expect outlandish crazy battle systems.

Best think about DQ is the scenario design. They can really develop individual stories for each town. Despite the terrible graphics and shoddy translation in DQ7, there were a ton of depressing towns because of the atmosphere and dialogue. You don't really get that feeling in most other games.
Never liked DQ. I keep trying them, and they keep sucking.
/shocked!

May I ask how you came to this conclusion?

!

:cold:

I've never played a single dragons quest... don't know if I ever will...

random thought... anyone ever play that dreamcast game from the shin mugemi tensai guys, Maken X? I toally forgot I had that.

Simple, my dear Watson! I played the games and didn't like them lol.

For example, I got DQ8 for $10 at CC during one of their clearances. I still felt ripped off...

I played it. It was pretty fun. I don't have it though, I just borrowed it from a friend. I never beat it, but I got pretty far. The real question: does it hold up?

I played it about 6 months ago, and yeah, Maken X dosn't hold up well at all.

side note: all this GTA4 leaked footage is making my head spin. glad I'll be out of town this weekend to make release come sooner and easier for me.
