so anyone getting mario kart wii?

for some reason im extremely tempted to get it now even with gta looming :bomb:
I now have a hatred for that game. Before I just didn't like it, but now I have to work the midnight opening for it so I hate it. Especially because no one is going to show up for it. It's such a waste of time.

Just got done with my Gamestop shopping at 35% thanks to coupon and Edge!

Got these games for $35.75:

Burnout Paradise (all the free DLC entices me)
Lost Odyssey (though it's scratched to hell, I'll exchange it with one of the others at the store)
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (woot, $35 for a game that came out last month!)

And then grabbed The Darkness for $13.

I'm not sure if I'll keep all of them, but I'd rather have them for $35, then regret them and not get them for cheap for awhile.

I was going to get FES after thinking about, but I like the concepts and plot of Lost Odyssey a lot more... plus I wanted to play it now, so while FES is always $30, LO isn't always $35 (yet, will probably be $15 in a year like Blue Dragon lol).

I just need to finish Resistance first! Which is a damn fine game on it's own. Then my PS3 backlog is no more!

I love (well, I just "like" Double Dash) and have every Mario Kart made... but for some reason I'm just not excited for this one.

It doesn't look like this one will be better than Mario Kart DS and it's just too soon after Brawl for me.

With all that said, I have a $30 Wal-Mart gift card so I might pick it up.

same i have a 2 gift cards at best buy
though im still undecided if it should burn a $30 gc or $40 on it since its either i use the $40 on mk and burn the $30 on fes or just get 1 or none of them
im also kinda waiting on the gametrailers review of mk to help make my decision

I don't get it, what is with this "Too soon after Brawl" stuff? It's been a month since Brawl, with no other major releases in between.

That's like if Fable 2 comes out in October, and someone says "Sorry, no Gears of War 2 for me, it's too soon after Fable 2". Or "Sorry, no GTA 4 for me, it's too soon after Vegas 2".

I think a month in between first party releases is plenty of time... espicially since most people have done all there is / can in Brawl by now anyways.

I'm not just pointing at you 2fast, but I see it on a few different forums, and it just seems like such an odd complaint, because people only say it against Nintendo and not, well, anything else.

Depends on the game. If Gears 2 came out a month after Halo 3, I'd have said it was too soon.

I guess, but that's because it has online multi.

Brawl has shitty online multi that's broken... I don't even bother with it anymore.

I do see your point though if you have people over and your playing Brawl every day, but for me, Brawl was fun for about two weeks (an awesome two weeks it was, though), and I haven't touched my Wii since, since none of my RL friends game or the ones that do aren't interested in Brawl.

Just got my Xbox Live Gold code from this Ebay seller ($39, woot) so I just re-upped my Gold account too. And I got about 6 games on the top 10 Live games (that are top 10 week in and out) so I'm good to go for awhile. Luckily my fiancee is out of town until Tuesday, lots and lots of time to game ;)

It's too much in the same vein as Brawl, IMO.

Nintendo fanfare, emphasis on multiplayer, crazy shit going on all the time, etc.

It's not the same as releasing the two games you mentioned because those are markedly different. Brawl and Kart are pretty high profile releases, but I don't think anyone can disagree that they're a little too similar.

Personally, I don't play my Wii as much and have reserved it for exclusives, high profile releases, things I really like, etc., so that definitely dissuades me from buying MK so close to Brawl (since I already have something to keep me occupied on the system).
so MM u think mario kart is worth gettin then?

even with the battle mode problems and the 150cc rubbernecking >
I think it IS worth getting if you have friends to play with. Or if you're a fan of the series.

It doesn't bring anything groundbreaking/superfresh to the series IMO. The jumps/tricks are fun at first, but it's not really NEEDED.
ic i think i'll wait for a sale then though since most of my friends play 360 and i only kno like 2 people that own a wii and actually use it

i guess that and im probably going to play gta nonstop...now to resist my impulse buying...i resisted dmc 4 ce at $40 i can do it again!
so anyone getting mario kart wii?

for some reason im extremely tempted to get it now even with gta looming :bomb:
I want the game, but kind of want to get finances straight before I buy. If it were out on Saturday (along with Meijer carrying it during their sale), I'd buy it on impulse.

I mostly want it, but I just don't want to be disappointed like I was with Double Dash (along Mario Kart DS was liked much more by me). Wipeout HD is the racer I want most right now, but I don't mind buying a new racers within a short time. ;)
I just need to finish Resistance first! Which is a damn fine game on it's own. Then my PS3 backlog is no more!
Yeah, I enjoyed Resistance myself in single player (or what I played). I did not completely finished, since I mostly concentrated on multi-player.
Mana Knight is causing me to wear out my mouse's scroll wheel.
If you read the report I just wrote for senior design (over 50 pages), you'd really wear out your scroll. ;)

Anyway, I just started playing Eternal Sonata for a bit. Can't say a lot right now, but I'm enjoying what I played so far. I'll play it more once I finish, although deciding between LO and Eternal Sonata will be difficult.

I'm working on finishing it, because if I start the multi, it'll be tough doing the SP, haha.

It is an awesome game though, full of polish.

But I expected awesome things from Insomniac, and they didn't let me down. R&C was great, Resistance is too.
Does it basically replace the DS version? Or are there still appreciable differences between the two?
IMO it totally replaces my appreciation I had for the DS version (sans snaking).

I kinda liked snaking, but it sucked for ppl that couldn't/didn't use it.

I might give Resistance another shot. I really tried to like it, but it just felt like everything I've played before.

I've had my PS3 for almost a year and only have Resistance and Uncharted, maybe it's time I get something else. I'm selling back my books tomorrow so I might stop by Gamestop and pick up something for PS3 or PSP. Probably not necessary, but I might do it.

Also think I'm going to sell GH3 w/ the wired guitar for 360 to a friend for $55, good deal?

Yeah, that's why I'm pretty pumped about Resistance 2, because Insomniac IMO is definitely one of the better devs when it comes to improving series.

Yeah, playing online first can harm single player, because I did that for CoD4 and just can't get myself to play single player. But in my situation, not a bad thing since I have enough single player games anyway. :)

The CAG PSN Gaming Group, we don't really play Resistance anymore, but will definitely get into the sequel when it comes.

Ratchet and Clank is really good... as is Hot Shots Golf. I also like Sigma (but I never played any NG previously), and Motorstorm. I got in on Motorstorm when EB had it for $16 or something as a used deal of the week.

To be honest, I can't think of any other PS3 exclusive game that's interesting to me that is out, so don't really feel bad about owning two games.

You're right about Resistance, but it doesn't ever try to be anything more than what it is... the plot is real good (the way it is told is great, imo), and it's just a quality game with a lot of polish.

Mana Knight, CoD 4 is like 5 hours long, I'm sure you could finish it ;)

It's gonna be nice... I've got two finals tomorrow, but they shouldn't be bad at all, and then there's one more I have on Monday. But, this weekend should be a lot more fun than before just coz I don't have all this shit to think about. Hrm... though I always go through a few days to a week where I feel shitty coz I'm like "o dam, I should be reading something."

Maybe finishing MGS2 again (the game that I started a few weeks back) will be what I need. God I love that game.
I disagree, I felt it was a step forward. The 2nd one just felt like a traditional turn-based RPG trying to be more free roaming in battle. It was like I had to select an enemy and attack, and not try to just hack at them like in Star Ocean 3. Also, the battles in Star Ocean 2 felt kind of 2D (despite being on a 3D plane), while Star Ocean 3 felt completely 3D due to being able to attack enemies from any direction. I also felt the fury gauge was a great addition.
Meh, fury gauge was garbage. Let me attack without penalty, damnit. Also SO2 had better killer moves and therefore a cooler battle system. And the skill system melded perfectly with the battle system, making it more broken and fun.

I felt Fayt was pretty emotional because I could relate to his feeling being separated from Sophia. I really wanted to see the two back together again. And there are a few Fayt quotes, which kind of changed my life for the better.
Um, you only knew them for 30 minutes, 25 of which is probably wandering around in that hotel? The game just started...

It was never really hyped up as being a big real-time world IMO.
Are you kidding me? That was the whole system surrounding Radiata Stories, the fact that every NPC had a schedule. That's like saying "MGS wasn't hyped up as a stealth game."

The more I read your posts, the more I feel that you have a set image of how you want your games to proceed and that they're penalized for not meeting your image, and that you're making characters a bigger deal than they really are...

My finals are not until May 5th. Thank God for that. I'm not getting GTA IV until my finals are over. That way I won't be tempted.

Mana Knight, CoD 4 is like 5 hours long, I'm sure you could finish it ;)
I dunno, I buy exclusives and most multi-platform games on my PS3 (due to PSN friends and some other factors), so my PS3 collection is kind of big (24 games, 14 are exclusives). IMO, whatever platform someone will dump their multi-platform games on, usually will have the most games (I choose PS3, so it makes my PS3 collection kind of large while my 360 collection is not as big, and if someone chooses 360 mostly, the same will happen on the other end). In my case, there are a decent number of exclusives I like (Hot Shots Golf: OoB, R&C Future, Ridge Racer 7 (well, I am a big RR fan and the 7th is my favorite) Uncharted, Warhawk are my 5 favorites).

Lol, there are 3 hour games I haven't even finished. :whistle2:(

If there's any backlog I should concentrate on first, it's my Wii since at the moment, I only have Super Mario Galaxy to complete and part of NiGHTs: JoD. 360 has a few games, and PS3 has a bunch. I just haven't been playing many single player games as of late because I mostly play Warhawk multi-player, CoD4 multi-player, Burnout Paradise multi-player (although not as much as of late, Hot Shots Golf: OoB, and Tekken 5: DR Online. I need to cut-back my multi-player time to play more single player. Or, am I just finally getting sick of single player since I'm just investing more time into multi-player (in the past, I next to never played multi-player)?

Wow, this GGT is filling up quick. Guess everyone likes the title I posted (last time I did "I've been having these weird thoughts lately"). ;)

Just my opinion, but I like battle systems with an extra gauge that fills up, allowing me to do something special (like Limit Breaks in FF games). Star Ocean 3 didn't have double attacks, which is kind of a soft spot of mine (can't explain, I just really like them). ;)

It wasn't just the hotel and the ship, just by looking at the two on the boxart, gave me a particular feeling, which I believe I wrote about somewhere in the review. But I dunno, Fayt's a lot like me, both like the same sport, and just someone I can really relate too. Kind of the same way with Sora and I.

I actually kind of mis-understood what you said earlier, but I thought it was kind of cool with the NPCs having a schedule. That was one thing I liked about it because I would get up in the morning, plan out my day to visit NPCs at a particular time. I didn't have a problem with it personally. Like I said before, I didn't like Radiata Stories anywhere near as much as Star Ocean 3, but I still liked it. It wasn't even my GotY in 2005 (I believe I gave it to Xenosaga Episode II due to the storyline alone, although Atelier Iris, Digital Devil Saga, DQVIII, Radiata Stories, etc. were others I really liked that same year).

That reminds me (if I got the names right), the scene I was thinking about in SO3 was
Ameena and Dion. That scene was extremely emotional seeing the two die, and their last words IMO.
Speaking of SO3 makes me want to play the game again, but I have my PS2 in the basement right now probably not hooked up.

It's pretty tempting right now to just buy a used 360 at Gamestop.

I'm done with this semester as of today, work is slow, I want to play: Lost Odyssey (have about 25 hours done), Condemned 2 (which just arrived in the mail yesterday), Forza 2 (I need a new car and want to buy something sporty so I have been test driving), and of course, GTAIV next week. Not to mention other stuff in my backlog like Mass Effect and Orange Box.

Ugh, my 360 couldn't have died at a worse time :(

That's right... I'm at the very last dungeon in Lost Odyssey, and I haven't played it since my 360's at home and I can't really commit to it since I'm at school most of the time.

I should finish that soon. It's such a good game.

I have such a small backlog on other systems... only one left on the DS is Etrian Odyssey, only one left on the PS3 is Resistance, and only one left on the Wii is Fire Emblem. I got 3 games for the Cube, two for the PS2, and one on the PSP (soon to be two because Jeanne D'Arc is shipping soon).

But there is about 11 on the 360, due to all these sales =O

I'll finish Resistance soon though, and keep cranking away on Etrian... so soon the only system with a backlog left is 360.

Jeanne D'Arc is an excellent game to get IMO. It was definitely worth it at full price (which was $29.99). Very high polished, although sometimes a battle could be a tad tough if I made a mistake (but then again, most SRPGs seem easy now after playing Wild Arms XF).

LO is a great game but there's no denying I was ripped off a bit in getting in. Not that LO wasn't good enough, it was because I traded in like 14-16 games at GS to get it (since I got 20% bonus when trading in games towards LO).

Ouch, and now you could have gotten it for $35.75 after the coupon + Edge... every store here has at least three copies of it, which I found bizarre for some reason. There was tons of every recent 360 game... guess the 360 people trade in games like crazy.

I'm getting to the point where unless it is an absolute must own day one 360 title (like GTA 4, for me) I am just going to grab it off Ebay, or wait for another coupon, since GS seems to be doing this every few months. Hell, you can get copies of Vegas 2 on Ebay for $40 shipped right now! There just seems to be an extremely high turn around on 360 titles.

Both Gamestop's I went too, cashier's were upset seeing I was getting one to two month old games for $35, and it was too late for them to cash in one the deal since they closed soon and the coupon expires today... you think they would know about their own company's coupon? The store I got Vegas 2 at, the guy literally said "Holy Shit!" at the price and checked the used rack for another copy.

I got Jeanne D'Arc from Amazon for $20 shipped.. they told me it would ship May 9th, but they just sent me an email telling me it's shipping Monday, so I'll get it Wednesday.
^same here
my gs is well stocked with used recent 360 titles
I mean, it's hard finding DS or Wii stuff... but 3 out of the 4 Gamestop's near me carried a nice mix and match of the following:

Dark Sector, Vegas 2, Burnout Paradise, Lost Odyssey, DMC 4... and not just one copy, usually 3 or 4?

Beats me... I can't really put my finger on it, because no other system in my area has this amount of turn around time.

You can't beat the 11 copies of Vegas 1 this one GS had, and both of them I visited this week had at least 9 copies of The Darkness each.

I wanted Dark Sector too, but the limit was two games per coupon, and 4 games is enough... I think Dark Sector will get close to $35 anyways for a new copy really soon.

As a GS employee I can confirm that we get a lot of new 360 titles back quickly. But honestly, it happens with every console at my store. There is a large amount of people that buy a game, then trade it in as soon as the next big game comes out.

My store is going to be a treasure trove after the GTAIV launch.
I hate people that do that shit.

at least they save us money when coupons come out
I hate people that do that shit.

They don't care. They just want whatever game is popular ASAP, and they don't want to even bother with the last game they were playing.

Last time I worked I took in at least 5 Vegas 2's in trade towards GTAIV.

Yea, that's what I told Botticus when we started talking about it, that those people buy whatever is hyped up, get sick of it in a week, and trade it in towards the next big thing, because they are "saving money" in their eyes.

But it works good for me, let's me get new titles for $35 with coupons + Edge... I really hope Gamestop keeps issuing a 360 coupon out every 2 months (last one was in Feb), I adore these coupons.

Hell, I actually renewed my Edge after 5 months, and already made back everything it cost to renew plus more in extra savings.

I told him people will be trading in GTA 4 like a week after they get it, for whatever reason. And what gets me, is these titles have tons of replayability thanks to Live!! I just don't get it.

There might be jazz playing in the hotel, but it would be better if the Utah Jazz was playing and you could unlock the secret character John Stockton along with the armor Old School Shorts.

e-motion 2003, son.

fuck yeah, John Stockton was a straight-up ghangsta. If that son busted outta the hotel and was just dunking on fools, Star Ocean 3 would be at least 40 times better than it was.

just watched the gametrailers review got an 8.4 and a 7.7 on gameplay :cold:
basically said the skill is taken out of the game and its like the racing is based on luck and they also talked about how badly battle mode is gimped

bleh guess i can wait on mk
