I know it's selfish... but this is my story! GGT #45
Good point, though I didn't think there was that much enthusiasm over Gran Turismo. Maybe because it was truly a one of a kind game back then... Forza wasn't around until about 2005.

Tangent: My first PS2 was a GT3 Racing Pack. The PS2 eventually broke, but I still have that copy of GT3... haven't played it for years (literally). The license tests in that game drove me nuts.
I thought the license tests were a lot more generous in GT3 than they were in 1... except the Super License ones, I know I struggled a lot with those but by then most of the game was open anyway.

GT4 I stopped because I couldn't pass the license test for the Ring because I'd lose my attention somewhere and then I'd go off-course and fail. Ughhh~

fuck I was browsing Gametrailers and decided to watch the G4 video review of FES. They completely spoil the end of P3 within the first 10 seconds. Thanks alot, ya fuckers.

Yea, well, alot of people did not get to play the original due to availability. It's not like it was a huge, blockbuster title. They just blurt out the spoils like everybody and their mom has beaten P3. Stupid G4. I shoulda known better.

well, I'm back from my EB that's 5 min away and I gladly found out there is no waiting line. Whoever picks up their "final payment" receipt before midnight gets a number. the sooner you pick up your receipt the sooner you get your game. I'm #8 on the list since I was there early. :)
Is soul nomad worth the $$$$?
Yes.

We win.

It took me a while to get into it (well, seemed like a while, but only a few hours of game time), but the dialogue gets me laughing occasionally and there's a hell of a lot of strategy you can dig into should you desire to.

Since I'm close to the GGT, it will be the first place to see me reveal a picture of me actually wearing a suit and tie today:
T7.jpg
(changed pictures because the original one revealed my real name, lol).

Yeah, I had to give my project presentation and I feel so much better it's over now.

I played a little Sega Superstars Tennis, but that's all.
What's nice about GT5P is that there's no License tests at all. I do hope the full game is like that. :p
Yeah, that's one thing I love about it. :D

You could pass as Denzel in American Ganster with that suit!

Also, you spend any time with the MGO beta yet? It grows on me every time I play. I guess part of that is because I'm getting better and actually killing people, but it has the potential to be a whole lot of fun if they up the speed and do something about the controls.

I also hated the liscence tests in the Gran Turismo games. They are the prime reason I never really got into series very much. I am glad to hear that GT5P does not have them, but I'm willing to bet the full game will.

Mana, that is exactly how I pictured you to look in my mind. Except in my mind, you are always wearing a suit & tie. And a Bulls uniform underneath.

I've haven't played much games today. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get back to Final Fantasy IX.

the controls are fine... takes a while to get use to. but yeah, I am slowly liking it more and more. I expected to not like it much, but I found, even with the weird control there's no frustration. no frustration even when it's very unfair. that's the first time I've felt fine with that in a shooter ever.
Mana, I always thought you were a
white guy
until I saw a pic of you.
I thought you saw my picture in off topic once. Let's just say I'm not exactly nerdy looking as many may think (and I'm actually pretty cool in real life, just don't show it around the forums). ;)

I played it a few times early on, but my gaming time has gone downhill after Friday (Saturday I was busy with a friend, did not play a game Sunday due to presentation, gone most of Monday due to presenting and seeing everyone in my major one last time).

And a Bulls uniform underneath.
Well, let's just say I wear a Bulls uniform/T-shirt a lot, just not in that picture. ;) I absolutely hate dressing up more than anything and will only do it when I'm forced to. The next time I'll probably dress up for is for an interview, but I'm kind of lazy.

A few faculty in my major told me to talk to them if I decide on going to Grad School. I have a feeling they want me to teach their classes/lab one day.

I liked GT, but hated license tests. Usually I just play Arcade mode and not worry about them. I plan to play a lot more GT5P and other games, once I catch up on sleep, clean up my apartment, and finally move on with my life.
they do have "boys mode" in GTA5...
The License Tests ARE the "boy's mode".

And nice suit mana, but you look stoned.

How else would you relax before a major presentation?
The License Tests ARE the "boy's mode".

The pictures which look a lot better (taken in lab), reveal my real full name. :p I actually posted it, but realized it was there, so I quickly changed it.

On my Facebook, I posted the pics I'm talking about (like in a note and my profile).

EDIT: I need new sig/avatar, what do I put up by tomorrow or Wednesday? I have a Summon Night Twin Age one made, but I rather wait until release. I thought about Mario Kart Wii sig/avatar, but not sure yet. I've been out of gaming due to being busy lately.
Mario Kart Wii is full of win and awesome.

It's like the goodness of DS + pretties.
but with the skill based emphasis sucked out... from what I hear.

The first dungeon in Oblivion is still annoying in that it's just a mandatory tutorial, but man... I forgot just how fun this game is. Definitely enjoying it a lot already.
The License Tests ARE the "boy's mode".
I like the License Tests more than the sim mode. If Arcade Mode had every car available I would not have any reason to play sim mode.
Sim mode = overpowered car FTW, with arcade mode you know it's somewhat balanced even with broken AI.

Oh, it's fun now.
Then you level up and it gets harder and you wonder why you bother to level up anyway and sooner or later it takes too long to kill enemies so you quit. =)

Damn this catchy music in The World Ends With You. It feels as catchy P3 music.

yeah, but how many other games let you punch rats?
yeah, but how many other games let you punch rats?
fuck rats. When I got to the higher levels, I would buff myself up with spells and punch minotaurs in the face.
but with the skill based emphasis sucked out... from what I hear.
You hear from people who don't know how to play very well.

It's no less skill based than any other MK. Items are a great equalizer, but knowing how to chain together tricks, power slides, and items is key to winning. Pulling off those sorts of "combos" are way more satisfying than snaking ever was.

I guess. I stated that I heard it from others since I have yet to play it, so I'll take your word for it now.

There's a ton of luck involved, but I really don't think it's anymore than in any of the other games.

It seems like people complaining about that don't have a clear memory of how devastating items were in the other games, or are just bitter that they changed up the power slides (which, admittedly, does take some getting used to).

coz I aint got a job to go to in the morning

lol

anyway, I downloaded this porno of these 2 girls gettin it while playing Wii

it's awesome becoz they're playing Wii Tennis and everytime they hit the ball they make a funny sound

My main concern was that the controls (the steering) would be too loose compared to past games to account for the less precise tilt steering. How does that compare (just out of curiousity-not that it matters to me anymore).

The leveling system is the one thing I don't understand about Oblivion. So I can do hours and hours of the game at level 3 (including kill NPC guards and dungeon bosses) and not even realize I'm supposed to level? Funnily enough, I don't like the game when the difficulty/leveling turns "normal".

And I'm still passing on Mario Kart.

GTA IV is good. I like it. Fun game. I am going to finish up my Elite ranking and put more time into GTA IV. My Special Edition lockbox was locked with the keys inside the box. Thanks R*. I am going to bitch to them and get a new box since mine was damaged during the unboxing.

My GTA IV story goes like this...

At around 12:05 AM I drove down to the GameStop where I preordered it... There was a line of about 75-85 people and I wasn't having any of that line. Not tonight.

Went to Blockbuster down the street, no line, no people. Bought the special edition for the 360. Now I'm home. 12:20 AM. Not bad for a lil' trip.

^

nice stuff man. i won a copy from a contest so im waiting for that to arrive...1am my game left KY and on its way to IL. Probably gonna get it on Wednesday via amazon.

it was funny seeing about 10 people log onto XBL a little past midnight, all playing GTA IV :X

My GS had a line of 20-30 people when I got there around 9:30ish. I went in and talked to my friends and didn't even look at the people in line. We BSed and had fun until just before midnight. Walking out someone screamed "this is BULLSHIT!". I wanted to say something, but I didn't want these twats giving my buddies a hard time. There were some majors douchebags waiting for GTA IV. It was worse DBaggery than when I went to the Halo 3 launch. I am glad I pissed off a line of morons. It was fun!

I've not actually used the wheel, but after about 3 races, a friend of mine was not only doing well, but starting to kick my butt with the wheel. I guess it works pretty well when you get used to it. Guys online seem to be doing well with it too. I think I'll be sticking with my current combo, though.

How's GTA treating everyone?

I decided I'll probably put up a Valkyria Chronicles sig/avatar up (or the next week), since it just came out. Just gotta find more images I like. If not, it will just be Mario Kart Wii.

Thanks for the Mario Kart Wii impressions daroga. I'm interested in the game more now.
