Anyone else hate Girls? People seem to love that show, and I just don't get it. I watched the first two episodes and thought it was fucking terrible. Who wants to watch a show about a bunch of entitled brats? I don't mind a show with lead characters that are heavily flawed, but there has to be something redeeming in them. I guess that is some of these same problem I have with Mad Men (two seasons in and I have no opinion or feeling for Don Draper).
Did you try it because of the Stern show?
This is the same guy who sends the planet back to the stone age at the end of LA. He also makes three-quarter court shots on the basketball court with ease.
Yeah, but wasn't that for everyone's own good or something?

He made those shots IRL. Kurt Russell is fucking awesome.

Damn straight. He made Captain Ron a good movie.

I don't know, starting WWIII seems out of character for Snake. I mean, I know he's a badass and all, but he's not malicious.
Dostoyevsky and prisons.

The jewel of America's east coast is walled off and and turned into a supermax prison where society lets criminals go at each other Lord-of-the-Flies style.

I think what Carpenter is implying through Snake is that after what he sees and experiences, he thinks what this particular society has become is no longer worth saving. Pliskin is the quintessential 80's anti-hero after-all.

The Duke of NY A#1

Big Trouble is fun but the tone of those two movies are very different, it often comes across as silly but I love it. It's one of those 80's action films crafted and targeted right at teenage boys.

My wife "hate watches" it. I have found it mostly terrible. Take for example of the Jessa character, who just went from being the die hard bohemian wanderlust chick to "yuppie wife" of the guy who tried to 3 way her because really she all-along wanted stability and the easy life, WTF?

The only remotely funny episode, IMHO, was the I Get Ideas episode and if you know the characters it's worth checking out- but I readily confess to not watching most of them, I'd rather defrag a HD or go to the dentist.
That movie was all Martin Short!
As a 12 year old, I had a hard time deciding whether I liked the mom or the daughter more in that movie.

No I watched it when it first came on. After two weeks I stopped watching it and kept watching Veep. Veep gets better ratings and is the better show, and yet it gets half the love. I only mention it because it just seems like the hype train for Girls is out of control and now they are giving Lena Dunham a second show. The first show sucks so much that she needs a second one.

That Upgrade and Save must have cleaned Best Buy out. I went to get Dredd 3D tonight figuring it would be there and they didn't have any. Checked inventory on my phone for the closest stores and the only one that had it was 30 minutes away. They were also picked clean of just about everything else. Ended up getting Seven and LA Confidential instead.

They cancelled Deadwood, Rome, Bored to Death and continue to give us disasters like John from C, renew the painfully bad and poorly received Newsroom and Dunham is going to have two shows really?

I really worry about GoT- HBO has knack for cancelling successful shows if they are niche genres, elaborate and/or expensive to produce.

You can actually see the mom's tits in the shower scene.

It's been 15? 20? years since I've seen Big Trouble in Little China. I think TBS used to show it every weekend or so it seemed. Enjoyable for the goofy, silly fun it was. Were we supposed to take it seriously or was it designed as satire and parody?

I'll probably loose cred for this but I'm pretty sure I've never seen either of those Escape movies. (LA and New York?) I've heard -of- them. But never actually sat and watched the whole thing.

Yeah, I watch BTiLC simply for the awesome special effects. It reminds me that not everything was always CG dogshit.

Don't feel bad about Escape. I saw LA before I saw NY.

Also, I own this shirt:

And I've had more people ask if it's a Captain Ron shirt than Escape.

Actually I don't think they canceled Deadwood. I believe David Milch got bored with it and stopped it to do John From Cincinnati. (Did they even do a full season of that shit show?)

BTW there was a plan to do a Deadwood movie to wrap things up but by the time the talks got in progress the set was already destroyed and all the principal actors were committed to new projects so the idea was abandoned.

Black Ops 2:

Using a Skorpion with Silencer and Rapid Fire (with speedy perks), hip firing, is really funny.

It's a good shotgun alternative (fire it at a wall to see what I mean), but the range is piping hot trash, so you gotta sprint and ambush dumbasses with it.

It's a headshot machine, too. You kill the guy in, like, .0001 seconds, but you gotta be all up in his face.

I read a few articles on it at the time and shortly afterwards, and the gist of what I got was that HBO management forced Milch to choose between JfC and Deadwood. He's had bad Luck since, pun intended.

I remember reading they offered Milch a 6 episode short order/run to wrap it up but he refused, something about Deadwood having a consistent pacing season to season and not rushing it.

There were a couple of interviews with Deadwood principles right afterwards about the movie, Olyphant has a couple of times said the movie never even came up and I can't remember which other, McShane I believe, said good luck with that and went on to infer that the abrupt cancellation left some of the cast at odds with HBO.

I hate all your load-out suggestions! They never work!

I think Brak is trolling you. I do remember loving sprinting around like a fool with dual P90s, rapid-fire, sprint, and ninja shit on right after they nerf'ed the kimbo model 1887s. I hated those 1887 a-holes people and the Type 25ers in BO#1 or was that MW3. These fucking MW games just all run together in my mind in a blur.

Temp, are you hip-firing and playing fullblown ADHD/twitch style with them?

If I ever get a PVR, I'll record one of my games and show you how I use these classes.

And, damn. I forgot all about the overpowered 1887 days of MW2. That shit was infuriating, although I lol'd hard whenever James Mac would do the Javelin glitch.

Tiem to murderize some people (digitally).

What was the bucolic MW map with the underground-bunker/spawn point dead center (surrounded by trenches, open fields and abandoned houses)?

I had a whore class just for that map: Grenade launcher, RPG, with danger-close and scavenger- my own teammates regularly called me an a-hole for that one. Once the opposing team was stuck spawning in there you could just spam grenades, RPGS and then scavenger more- all day long. I was indeed a very poor sport on that map.

Roof-top dual wielding with sprint was also glorious (it was just before then that I decided since no one else actually cared about winning that I wouldn't either). MW series is so antithetical to CS game-play despite being so similar in the general game play dynamic. I guess the different incentives change it so much. CS: Team wins everybody gets more money. MW: you get unanswered individual kills you alone get insane kill-streak bonuses. Little to no incentive to sacrifice for the win in MW.

I tried your "french tickler" load and I used it just like I use a shotty (mostly from the hip). They just don't seem to do enough damage.

Today's the day. Got the nacho cheese warming up, picking up wingstop in a bit, the beer on ice. Ready to see the Niners win it all.
Now to see if I can stay awake long enough for the Super Bowl.
I have no interest in it, really. We're opting to go to the neighbors over our friends so we both can have a few drinks. I guess I am rooting against Lewis.

I'm not pulling for the Niners, but I'm am hoping the Ravens lose.

I am really surprised that they haven't played up the Blind Side connection with the Super Bowl. I would have thought that the media would have pounced on that.

Generally, don't sports writers and their media hate that movie?

They have brought it up, but Oher shut it down pretty quickly.

I’m tired of the movie. I’m here to play football,” Oher said early during his media session on the floor of the Superdome. "Football is what got me here and the movie, it wasn’t me. I always knew how to play football growing up. It was different personalities, stuff like that. Playing football is what got me to this point.

I'm doing absolutely nothing for the super bull, just as I do every year.

Did a mock-up of my taxes this year. I owe both state AND federal. F this bullshit.

It'll get sweeter once I ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK.

ACOG scopes make guns more accurate when they hipfire.

(I saw it on a chart that someone made based on the PC port's code.)

The silenced Uzi with the ACOG is one of the most accurate hipfiring set-ups in MW2.
The silenced uzi was cool but why that long-range rifle scope? Lol. What were they thinking?
Was it an UZI or a MAC? And IIRC the scope was mounted on the suppressor and not the frame.

Whoops! I thought you were talking about MW2. I missed a billion posts in between.

Puppy Bowl is on Animal Planet right now. And is constantly repeating. Subaru commercials for boys. Puppys for the girls. (Oh they're SOOOO CUUUUTE!)

I'd have more energy if people hadn't woken up at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30, respectively.

I'm rooting for the 49ers, but rooting more against Ray "Double Homicide" Lewis. (6 kids by 4 Baby Mommas!)

when I picked up my shotgun, the salesman asked if I wanted an assault rifle. I kinda stood there and all I could think to answer was, 'I can't foresee ever having a need for one. but thanks anyway.'

that question still amuses me for some reason.

Wow, you have a store that sells fully automatic rifles?

That game absolutely blew until the lights went out. I really wish the Niners could have pulled it out, and I think Harbaugh was absolutely right to be livid about that non-holding call. Is defensive holding in the end zone like pass interference with a fresh set of downs and the ball on the 1? Or is it just half the distance to the goal?

In this instance if it's holding, because of the location, it would have been 1/2 the distance and First Down.

If it's Pass Interference, ball is placed at the 1 yard line and First Down.

I think it was a good non-call...they were both guilty. No ref (scab or otherwise) would have called that.

Ironic that the season that gave us replacement refs ended like that.

Also, the blackout in New Orleans...Payback for Roger Goodell?
