Since Ibotta has been regularly having Best Buy and Microsoftstore.com offers I've restructured this thread a bit. I have also added an FAQ below.

Current "CAG Friendly" offers:

- Best Buy (in store and/or online):

$5 for spending $100 (can be multiple purchases)* - Expires "02/10/15 at 12:59 am",

*On occasion some users get different offers so it may vary - you won't know until you open the app.

- MicrosoftStore.com (online only):

$10 for spending $100 (can be multiple purchases) - Expires but has been ongoing regularly

- New users can also get a $2 bonus (read below).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ibotta is basically an instant rebate app for smart phones that allows you to get money back for certain items (typically grocery). The money can be deposited into your paypal or used for some gift cards.  It is an app actually worth checking out anyway but these deals are certainly bound to speak to some CAG folk.

You can download the app through their site (or read below if you'd like to thank me for sharing this offer with you): https://ibotta.com/. There is no bonus to using my referral link in my signature but if you'd like to as a thank you for posting this I certainly won't argue - your rebate will go through all the same but yes, I get a bonus too.  To do so correctly make sure to register at the below link and then sign in with those same credentials once you install the app.

New Ibotta user you can earn an additional $2 bonus for redeeming your first offer. Simply redeem your first offer (this offer or any other) within 10 days of signing up. Once you redeem your first offer (again, you must do so within 10 days of signing up not just installing the app) you will get a bonus $2 welcome reward.

General Ibotta FAQ

Q: How do I unlock a rebate?

A: Each rebate has a couple of task that must be completed before it is "unlocked" and you can redeem it. Most of these task consist of a poll or "learning a fact" but on occasion they include posting to Twitter or Facebook.

Q: How long can I submit a receipt?

A: Receipts can be submitted for up to one week from the purchase date. I.e. a receipt from the 1st can be submitted up through the 7th. Offers do expire though, and an offer may expire before a week's time preventing you from submitting it.

Q: How do I complete an online offer such as BestBuy.com?

A: Once you've competed the "task" to unlock the offer there will be an option to click a button to "shop." You will then have the option to send yourself a referral link to use later or to shop directly from within an in-app browser. Online purchases tend to show up in your account in 2-3 days.

Q: I bought something three days ago and a new rebate has been added for that same item! Can I still submit my receipt?
A: Yes, you can submit any receipt less than a week old, even if the offer didn't exist when you originally purchased the item. For example, if you spent $100 at Best Buy on the 1st and an offer for $10 back when you spend $100 was added on the 3rd, you could submit the receipt from the 1st.

Q: How long do rebates take?

A: They can vary a bit, and receipt photos that are hard to read seem to take longer (most likely are manually reviewed) but often times rebates post to your account within an hour.

Q: How can I get the money I've earned?

A: Once you've reached a minimum of $10 you can "cash out" a number of ways including sending the cash directly to your Paypal or even gift cards such as Best Buy and Starbucks (among others).

Q: How come some people have a $10 for spending $100 and others have $5 for $100 or $20 for $100? Why don't I have the same offer as someone else?

A: Ibotta does seem to periodically offer different offers to different users. This appears to be from a combination of different reasons, everything from geographical location, how long you'e been a user or even if you redeemed a previous offer for the same store.

Q: If I pay with a gift card will it still count? Can I use other coupons and still qualify for an Ibotta rebate?

A: Ibotta really doesn't care about the form of payment or other coupons used (with one exception). So long as you bought the item and it is on your receipt it will qualify. It is possible to buy a grocery item that is on sale for $2, use a $1 off coupon and get $1.50 back in Ibotta rebate. The exception to this is the "Spend $$$ to get $$$" offers. Since the final total paid is what matters. If you lower the total with coupons/sales/reward certificates (for Best Buy) will result in less money being counted as "spent."

Q: How do "Team Bonuses" work?

A: Teams are fairly new and still a little unclear but the primary way they work is that everyone you invite to Ibotta and joins through your link winds up on your "team." Once your team has received a certain dollar amount in rebates and you've also redeemed a certain amount you qualify for a bonus. For example, a hypothetical Team Bonus might require that your team redeems $20 in rebates total and you redeem $10 in rebates personally. Once both conditions are met you'll receive the bonus for that month. This will typically unlock a "level 2" where you can gain another bonus when the next levels are met. So far there have not been more than 3 "levels" of Team Bonuses.  It may be possible to add others to your team through Facebook.

Q: Can multiple accounts on different devices send to the same Paypal account?

A: Short answer, yes. Ibotta does appear to have realized that some households may have multiple phones but maybe only one Paypal account so you could, for example, have yourself and your spouse both cash out to the same Paypal. Having more than one account per person is almost certainly against the terms however so do so at your own risk.

Thanks for the head's up, had gotten out of the habit of checking the app - seems like most of the rebates they offer in places like Target are not things I buy, and the iPad version of the app doesn't work with my supermarket for some reason.

In any case, I got the $20 from $200 offer again.

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up. If I remember correctly I made two purchases last week, one Tuesday and one Wednesday. Unfortunately Wednesday's purchase didn't cross the $50 mark but Tuesday's did, so I'm gonna look into how to submit this tonight.
Each purchase doesn't have to be over $50, that's just your total to get by the expiration date. So you can submit both of your purchases.
Also last time they had this I got store pickup receipts to work, YMMV though.

GamerDude316 is right in his comment below. Doesn't have to be one purchase, just has to add up to $50. Everyone who has signed up through me previously is also likely to end up qualifying for the Team bonus this month too thanks to this so that's an added bonus.

I use ibotta on occasion and last time the best buy thing screwed me over when I submitted $100 worth since I used GCs. I think I'm gonna go buy something over $100, get the bonus, then return the item since that happened.

It always helps at Kroger, so I love the app.

hmm im 52.5 away from the 200....so it doesnt work on best buy gift cards for sure? .. ive done amazon before and it worked, wonder if visa cards work

I checked my account and had a $10 for spending $100. Just sent them a receipt of my Visa prepaid card i got last week with the BB CC promo and they just approved it. Not bad for a extra $10.

Does this work with bestbuy.com purchases or only in store?
Just wanted to clarify I made purchases this week that were shipped to me, not picked up in store. I see that doesn't work though I don't see why they wouldn't accept those.
I've had store-pickup receipts work, but it took some wrangling. they specifically state bestbuy.com orders dont count, but having a store pickup receipt sometimes works.

Ha ha...whoops. I just submitted two receipts twice: I didn't see it show up on my activities page and so I accidentally sent each receipt individually and then both receipts at the same time...here's hoping that doesn't fuck me.

Well, looks like it went through, but man is that "activity" tab confusing at first glance.

I earned $.25 at Wal-Mart for buying a gallon of milk, for one.

Then it says I earned a $.50 Welcome Aboard bonus.

Then it says Best Buy receipt processed.

Then it says "You spent $74.01 of the $100 needed to complete "Earn $10 when you Spend $100 at Best Buy"

And then it says $10.00 earned at Best Buy.

So I guess they processed the second receipt worth $3x.xx after the first receipt but didn't notify me of it. Weird.

Happens every now and then. Sounds like you submitted two back to back so my guess would be the notifications somehow got screwed up.

Was there a start day for this or would a receipt from last saturday work as long as its submitted before this saturday?
$20 off this mac mini would be a nice bonus

As long as it has been in the last seven days, you're good. It should be accepted.

Has ibotta gotten smarter with connecting paypal accounts? I keep getting a message that says "incorrect" info. I use multiple apple devices with different accounts. I have no problems getting receipts approved, just that I can never connect to paypal.

They wouldn't accept mine because the receipt was too long. Fail.

It's not Target.
You don't have to get it all in one picture scan. You can add sections of the receipt one at a time. I split my receipt into two sections just this week and still got my $10 bonus within an hour of submitting.

i sent a snapshot of my dog by accident and got rejected, so they do check receipts

my old shitty android phone won't load ibotta though, and if I borrow my wifes phone it'll start a whole chain of "ARE YOU SPYING ON ME" dammit why is the whole world going mobile whats wrong with a nice desktop PC :(

You don't need the whole receipt. Just get from the top down to the total/what you paid. You don't even need to do the multiple parts feature, that's just there if your receipt is so long you can't get all the important info in one photo.

I connected a 2nd phone to the same paypal account I use for my primary phone today and transferred funds without issue.

This is true but like I said, you only need the important information. So like the top 1/4 of a Best Buy receipt.

Damn looks like I missed out on my $20 back on $200, I could have sworn I read the end date as 8/31. Oh well.

EDIT: I just read the updated title of this thread lol, I wonder why they pulled it early.

yeah - OP - unless you're going to check it every day, maybe dont hard-code the date/deadline into the original post, or you're gonna have some upset people when they realize that the deal they thought was going on for another 2+ weeks is already expired.

Mine started out 8/31, then bumped up to 8/16 early last week, and was down to 8/10 as of last friday.  It probably has to do with how many people are redeeming it.  More people = move up the deadline, (they probably have a targeted amount to give back, just my uneducated guess)

Actually they don't usually bump up the expiration date (and once you've redeemed it on the app you can't see it anymore). Last two times they've actually extended it past the original date. General rule though, never wait on a deal, get on it right away. I'll update the OP, but this is the first time I've ever seen Ibotta pull a rebate early. Must have been something else wrong with it.

That's... one weak offer but $5 is better than nothing. Luckily I have a receipt from the Walmart shuffle >.>

Thanks!
Yeah, this isn't one of the best one's they've had (clearly just trying to entice weekend shoppers) but it's cool to see them outright having a bestbuy.com deal since they hadn't before.

We were just talking about this in the general BF thread.  Heads up to anyone purchasing online for this but we were trying to figure out how you would submit the receipt since it has to be in before midnight tomorrow.  In the terms of the offer it says you have to use "Ibotta's Redemption Link (available in your BestBuy.com gallery)" to make the purchase (whatever that is).

I think its a link in the ibotta app itself where you have to go login to your bestbuy.com account and stuff, i vaguely remember something about it when I was screwing around last time i did an ibotta deal.  I only bought $60 of stuff from BB (another $50 but EA like you) so probably gonna pass, don't see anything else I want

There is also this article on the unboxed forums but it doesn't really say anything useful

Tried asking this in other threads but they go by so fast. So I'll ask here, will buying a gift card or VGC qualify? I remember using gift cards to buy a gift card and it worked in the past.

I still don't see the link Ibotta is talking about in the Bestbuy.com "gallery." Sent an email to their support email. I'm not expecting them to contact me in time, and the promo will be expired already.
