Since Ibotta has been regularly having Best Buy and Microsoftstore.com offers I've restructured this thread a bit. I have also added an FAQ below.

Current "CAG Friendly" offers:

- Best Buy (in store and/or online):

$5 for spending $100 (can be multiple purchases)* - Expires "02/10/15 at 12:59 am",

*On occasion some users get different offers so it may vary - you won't know until you open the app.

- MicrosoftStore.com (online only):

$10 for spending $100 (can be multiple purchases) - Expires but has been ongoing regularly

- New users can also get a $2 bonus (read below).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ibotta is basically an instant rebate app for smart phones that allows you to get money back for certain items (typically grocery). The money can be deposited into your paypal or used for some gift cards.  It is an app actually worth checking out anyway but these deals are certainly bound to speak to some CAG folk.

You can download the app through their site (or read below if you'd like to thank me for sharing this offer with you): https://ibotta.com/. There is no bonus to using my referral link in my signature but if you'd like to as a thank you for posting this I certainly won't argue - your rebate will go through all the same but yes, I get a bonus too.  To do so correctly make sure to register at the below link and then sign in with those same credentials once you install the app.

New Ibotta user you can earn an additional $2 bonus for redeeming your first offer. Simply redeem your first offer (this offer or any other) within 10 days of signing up. Once you redeem your first offer (again, you must do so within 10 days of signing up not just installing the app) you will get a bonus $2 welcome reward.

General Ibotta FAQ

Q: How do I unlock a rebate?

A: Each rebate has a couple of task that must be completed before it is "unlocked" and you can redeem it. Most of these task consist of a poll or "learning a fact" but on occasion they include posting to Twitter or Facebook.

Q: How long can I submit a receipt?

A: Receipts can be submitted for up to one week from the purchase date. I.e. a receipt from the 1st can be submitted up through the 7th. Offers do expire though, and an offer may expire before a week's time preventing you from submitting it.

Q: How do I complete an online offer such as BestBuy.com?

A: Once you've competed the "task" to unlock the offer there will be an option to click a button to "shop." You will then have the option to send yourself a referral link to use later or to shop directly from within an in-app browser. Online purchases tend to show up in your account in 2-3 days.

Q: I bought something three days ago and a new rebate has been added for that same item! Can I still submit my receipt?
A: Yes, you can submit any receipt less than a week old, even if the offer didn't exist when you originally purchased the item. For example, if you spent $100 at Best Buy on the 1st and an offer for $10 back when you spend $100 was added on the 3rd, you could submit the receipt from the 1st.

Q: How long do rebates take?

A: They can vary a bit, and receipt photos that are hard to read seem to take longer (most likely are manually reviewed) but often times rebates post to your account within an hour.

Q: How can I get the money I've earned?

A: Once you've reached a minimum of $10 you can "cash out" a number of ways including sending the cash directly to your Paypal or even gift cards such as Best Buy and Starbucks (among others).

Q: How come some people have a $10 for spending $100 and others have $5 for $100 or $20 for $100? Why don't I have the same offer as someone else?

A: Ibotta does seem to periodically offer different offers to different users. This appears to be from a combination of different reasons, everything from geographical location, how long you'e been a user or even if you redeemed a previous offer for the same store.

Q: If I pay with a gift card will it still count? Can I use other coupons and still qualify for an Ibotta rebate?

A: Ibotta really doesn't care about the form of payment or other coupons used (with one exception). So long as you bought the item and it is on your receipt it will qualify. It is possible to buy a grocery item that is on sale for $2, use a $1 off coupon and get $1.50 back in Ibotta rebate. The exception to this is the "Spend $$$ to get $$$" offers. Since the final total paid is what matters. If you lower the total with coupons/sales/reward certificates (for Best Buy) will result in less money being counted as "spent."

Q: How do "Team Bonuses" work?

A: Teams are fairly new and still a little unclear but the primary way they work is that everyone you invite to Ibotta and joins through your link winds up on your "team." Once your team has received a certain dollar amount in rebates and you've also redeemed a certain amount you qualify for a bonus. For example, a hypothetical Team Bonus might require that your team redeems $20 in rebates total and you redeem $10 in rebates personally. Once both conditions are met you'll receive the bonus for that month. This will typically unlock a "level 2" where you can gain another bonus when the next levels are met. So far there have not been more than 3 "levels" of Team Bonuses.  It may be possible to add others to your team through Facebook.

Q: Can multiple accounts on different devices send to the same Paypal account?

A: Short answer, yes. Ibotta does appear to have realized that some households may have multiple phones but maybe only one Paypal account so you could, for example, have yourself and your spouse both cash out to the same Paypal. Having more than one account per person is almost certainly against the terms however so do so at your own risk.

yeah, i had to submit it a few times before it took. the first time i didnt include the paper receipt from the store pickup (the online receipt showed that i picked it up).

it was defo worth it for me. $10 rebate + $2 bonus (first time use bonus) + $5 bonus for signing up for a Venmo account. got $17 bucks back! ;)
Very interesting. I would say very YMMV though.

Bumping as this is LIKELY the last day of this promo. Though for those of you that were planning to buy Little Rascals Save the Day on Blu Ray for some reason you can get $5 back from that now... lol

Is the 5 for 50 deal still live cause I can't seem to find it?
A co-worker of mine just submitted his receipt about an hour and a half ago so the $xx for $xx deal is still live; it just varies what offer you get based on if you're new/redeemed an offer before/some sort of occult magic.

It is under "electronics" in the rebate menu FYI.

Did anyone ever try cashing out to Venmo for the additional $5?
I just went through Venmo to get the additional $5. Did a little google search on it as I was skeptical (still sorta am), but it sounds legit. My funds should be available tomorrow in my account.

Good to know.

One last bump. Technically the app says this goes till 4/2 but it says 12:59am on 4/2 so if they are using that in the most logical sense that means tonight is the last chance to upload your receipts.

Update from last post, the $15 ($10 plus the $5 bonus for signing up for Venmo) was successfully deposited in my account.

Thanks BudzMcGee for the heads up on this deal and also thanks to thesuzukimethod for pointing out the Venmo bonus.

Thanks dude! Got a Kindle Paperwhite last week for $100, so this worked out perfectly (for once). Used this yesterday and got $12 in my Paypal in like 2 hours. (Used your referral too, enjoy.)

Figures this would go up a few days after my Vita 2000 and Sony Pulse Elite purchases are out of the date range. Guess buying GCU next week and something else will push me through for it

I wonder if a Visa purchase work despite it saying excludes giftcards.  Will try with the one I bought yesterday.

Sadly, they do not.
YMMV with this. I managed to use a store pickup receipt to push my total over $100 last time. It probably hhelped that i had a receipt with $87 on it already in a previous submission (i.e. only needed a small amount to tip it over)

i scanned the store pickup receipt and the online receipt and attached it as a 2 page document. It took a couple submission attempts and it took a lot longer to confirm, but it eventually went through. I wouldn't spam them with these receipts, but if you already picked it up, it might work.

If you haven't picked it up yet, just do a return re-buy right there in line. the rebuy receipt will be normal.

re: store pickup receipts
i should be clear, i dont think the fact that it's store pickup is the problem. The official store receipt doesn't show a total, but it shows what you picked up and the date. The online receipt shows the total, and that you picked it up.

I scanned the store receipt, but i took a snapshot of my computer screen that showed the $ total and the "order picked up"....eventually that made sense to someone. i have no idea if it will ever work again. we'll find out next week when i pick up watch_dogs. i will ask them to print a duplicate receipt when i'm in the store though.

Thanks, I thought somebody had mentioned it going through last time. I picked up Wolfenstejn and Lightning Returns via store pickup last night so I will try those receipts when I get home.

Why they don't just add store pickup is stupid IMO.

I for one hate having to walk around the store, spend 5-10 minutes looking for the game, bringing it to the front, and checking out, when I can just reserve the game online, it's set aside for me, and I take 2-3 minutes and am in/out the door after signing off that I picked it up. Store pickups are SO much more convenient.

I only ever do store pickups anymore.

Very YMMV. cert most of the time will not work for best buy gift cards. but then again, I've heard stories if other crazier shit so ymmv
yea it will work fine like I told him but if he planning to buy a $100 giftcard to get the $10 back it will work but it will make him un eligible for the $10 back if he use a reward certificate since it will lower the amount below the $100 threshold since reward certificates act like coupon and not currency in best buy system.

Does anyone know if you could use RZ certificates combined with a GC to buy a Best Buy GC?
You can't use a RZ certificate to buy a gift card.

This is the other issue you would face. Buy something for $100 at Best Buy using a $50 certificate in the process and your receipt will say you only spent $50. Also, technically, the deal isn't valid for the purchase of gift cards. So that is two potential issues.

That makes sense...I have more than $200 in GC and multiple $5 RZ certificates. I have never tried combining both though to buy a BB GC.

If really desperate just walk into a store, walk up to customer service and say, "Hey, I have this gift card for $230. Could I please put $100 on a separate gift card?" They SHOULD then sell you a new gift card for $100, use the old one to pay for it and now you've got a $100 receipt to submit. You can recombine them later if you really want.

You can't use your my best buy information or they will turn you down because it is considered double dipping.

Bought a ps4 a few days back and submitted my receipt. Got my $10 rebate in about five minutes. Thanks!

Edit-also got the $2 new user bonus

There really is no rhyme or reasons to the offers they provide.  Redeemed my $5 one last night though using my receipt from Wolfenstein. That has really turned out to be a great day 1 deal when all is said and done ($20 certificate, $5 gift card, $5 back from Ibotta) Trades back in for $33 with GCU.

Are you allowed to make purchases with giftcards to get the $10 back because Bestbuy has a $10/$100 offer and I was going to use giftcards on Watchdogs and Mario Kart transactions this week?

How do they track the "one per user"? Is it by login email adress, paypal account, device or something else.

I will be spending about ~1000 throughout the month and would like to be able to submit multiple receipts if its possible

Fun fact. I pre-ordered Watchdogs in store today and decided to try submitting it. I got $5 put towards my $100 receipt. I used my receipt from when I picked up Wolfenstein for my $50 offer (only went over $50 when the pre-order deposit was factored in as payment) so you can kind of double dip here. Scan the pre-order receipt and then scan the receipt from when you pick up Watch Dogs if you are planning to do so.

Ibotta doesn't care how you pay, you can spend $100 in gift cards and you'll still get $10 back. The deal, technically, just doesn't count if you were to buy a $100 gift card.

Ibotta does pay attention to device. When I got my new phone I just transferred over my Ibotta account to the new one and then tried to sign up my old phone with a new email so I could get myself the referral bonus. Didn't register me as a new user though because my phone had Ibotta installed before. So at the very least, on Android, that won't work. If you have an old phone you could get away with it using that. Far as I can tell the Paypal email is the only thing they don't track by (though I imagine if you had multiple accounts sending to it, it would be a red flag.

It should be noted, they absolutely do suspend and ban accounts. The first time this Best Buy offer appeared I managed to get quite a few referrals from CAG's. Ibotta actually froze my account and I had to show them this thread as proof that I was legitimately earning those referrals.
