Thanks for the save point skit tips ya'll.  Playing with a guide holding your hand sucks a lot of the fun out of a game, but I'm also paranoid I'll miss something.  Looks like it'll be fine for Graces f though, thanks!

And is it just me, or was that interview about boobs really really creepy?

Wasn't just you, hell I wouldn't be surprised if they had some Dead or Alive type costumes for her.

Now recently Dark Cloud 2 which overall was really good, even though it got stale towards the end,and the bad guy being Phil from Rugrats. Also near the end of Valkryria Chronicles 2 which gameplay wise is way better than the first, though both have pretty bad main characters.

So far, I am enjoying Final Fantasy XIII a lot more the second time around than I did the first. Some characters are still annoying (Hope and Snow), but Vanille, Lightning and Sazh more than make up for it.

I remember Hope and Snow having a pretty awesome segment together. And then you also get Fang, who's the best.

Whoever translated for that article made it sound a lot worse than it actually was.

I think I'm the only person who actually liked Hope in that game. As opposed to every other JRPG in history where the teenage boy protagonist is angsty and tortured 'just because', Hope actually had a pretty decent reason, with his mom dying right in front of him at the beginning of the game and all. Besides, as the game progresses and he buries the hatchet with Snow he becomes a lot less combative (an actual character arc, what's that about?).

Finally got to a difficult boss on Hexyz Force. Most of the game has been a  cakewalk with little grinding or even strategy needed. What's the point of elemental attacks and weakness if just a random smash works just as well?

I think I'm about 2/3rd done with the game. Starting to drag a little, but I really should try and finish it.

I didn't dislike Hope, but that whole part where its him and Vanille was just poorly written. The scenes with him and Lightning are a little better, but not much. After that, Hope's part gets better.

Confirmed, lol.

The translation makes it sound like he's so excited for it and knows all the techniques, whereas in the original version everyone's a little bit more roundabout.

Big difference between "Yes, they jiggle!" and "I asked the head of the character creative team that question, and to sum it up, he said, 'Yes, they jiggle.'"

Ni no Kuni is $20 on Best Buy, not sure if I should jump on it...

I hear it's pretty shit and personally hated the demo, but if you're a big fan of Ghibli, $20 is probably low enough to decide for yourself. Some people loved the hell out of it.

I really enjoyed Ni No Kuni (though I have yet to beat it.  I'm daaaamn close too).  It is very, very slow, especially to begin.  Seriously, for a game revolving around monster catching, you can't even catch any for like the first 5-10 hours depending on how you play, and things don't really open up (full party, with full monster roster options and catching) for close to 20 hours as I recall...

Still, it's very charming, and I love classic RPG's and Ghibli so that definitely helped me.

$20 dang I freakin spend $90 for it last weekend...

granted it came with all of this:

About 45 hours into Dragon Quest VIII and I think I am going to call it quits. The game is just so slow. Ordered GOW: Ascension off of Amazon for $20. That should hold me over till Xillia.

Haha, nice haul.

Ni No Kuni is worth it at $20 no question. I have some problems with the pacing, when you get certain spells/abilities/basic defend all, and a few battle aspects, but the positives far outweigh them in my opinion.

What?

Noooooooooooo how can you quit DQ8?! Especially 45 hours in?!

(I think I beat the game at 45 hours, actually.)

I am still thinking about Ni no Kuni but if the pacing is slow then... hmm. I have a very short attention span nowadays so a game needs to engage me quickly and have me wanting to play consecutively, otherwise I forget about it and then I don't know what's going on and I don't want to restart. (Xenoblade, did you say something?)

Don't do it! Such a great game. Definitely one of my all-time favorites! In fact, the thought of it (and Rogue Galaxy) one day being playable on the Vita is the biggest reason I haven't sold my Vita.

Any tablet/mobile RPGs to recommend? Android only please.

I'm sort of playing through Symphony of Eterenity, Deadly Dungeons, I need A Hero (more of a match 3 game) right now.

There's several on the google app store but most look like just sort of generic MMO type games.

Final Fantasy Dimensions was an awesome game. Story isn't the greatest but it had awesome mechanics.

Busy RPG filled week next Tuesday for me....

Tales of Xillia
Dragon Crown PS3
Dragon Crown Vita
Mario & Luigi RPG 3DS (8/11/13)

No clue what to play first though :)

But it is neither cheap ($2 or less) Or Free.

I guess I should have added those two qualifications.
how much disrespect do you have for your free time if you were willing to eat caca just becoz it only set you back $2?

to answer honestly tho, I have been meaning to check out Neuroshima Hex for a while. ($2.99)

it's the only game on my list of iphone games that I want that's also available on adroid.

I'm seriously considering waiting on Dragon's Crown til I get through Xillia at least. Between Xillia, Earthbound & Dream Team that's more than enough rpg at once...

Looked at Dragon's Crown but I didn't like art style.

Because of the SGDQ marathon, been looking a lot at speed runs. The FF4 one by Brossentia shows me how little I knew about the game.

So, now that I've got Snow and Fang on teams, I like Sentinels more than I did my first time playing. I'm also still hating Hope. He is getting more annoying with each passing dialogue scene.

So I started playing Dragon Age 2 last night.

Does the game take place during the first Dragon Age?

Here's what I dread, some dwarf is telling a story about where the Champion is to a Seeker.

I picture the dialogue going like this near the end of the game.

Seeker:  "Tell me! Where is the Champion!"

Champion: "I'm right behind you!"

Dragon Age 2 takes place (kinda) after Dragon Age Origins. After certain events in DA: O, that is. Though by how long, I do not know. They kind go along each other for a bit, but it gets a bit muddled.

Alright, the new FFXIV benchmark let's you create and save a character for the actual release, and I didn't want to be that guy, but I don't think I can resist playing as a Miqote:

The begining takes place right after the Battle of Ostagar (that first major event in DA:O). You play for about an hour or so before it goes forward about a year to right after the end of the first game.

And I still need to finish SMT IV on my playthrough that I managed to get the Neutral route for as well as Shadowrun. I want to start those, but if I stop playing anything else... it'll never get completed.

I'm about 15 hours in and a little past that. I've been getting to sidetracked with FFXIII because Sazh is the the best Final Fantasy character not named Auron, Tidus, Rikku, Sabin and Celes.

Agrias and Cid Highwind are not on that list. I call shenanigans.

I've never played Final Fantasy VII past the second disc. It bored me when I was playing it several years ago. I would like to try the HD PC version at some point. As for Agrias, I never paid attention to any of the characters in Final Fantasy Tactics.

What the hell is a Cid Highwind and how the hell is he a good character?

Honestly, I don't even remember him getting any development other than when you're in his hometown for like those two things you go there to do.

It's all about Balthier.
Forever the truth.

My favorite character is still Rydia though, for whatever reason.

It's probably all the green.

I really like Balthier, but I wish he had first shown up in a better game :/

Why does it have to be all about character development? He doesn't really have any more than Sabin.
