I'm bored, let's talk fighters.
Marvel vs Capcom 2: 2nd Mix is a hacked version of the game were people went in and changed the BGM to rap, hip hop and alittle rock. Unless you like that don't bother with it. I guess people hated the BGM so much they decided to change it. But who could blame them, "Gonna take ya for a ride." I think it had the worst soundtrack ever.

As for Last Blade 2: Heart of Samurai, I think it might be the title of a pal release of Last Blade 2: Final Edition. If your not sure go with Last Blade 2: Final Edition.
yeah, the only reason I can't make myself ever buy Marvel vs Capcom 2 is due to the horrid soundtrack. The music is not bad at all, but it just dosn't work at all in a game like this. Probably the best fighters that put good use to the music are the Tekken series and Guilty Gear series. but uppity jazz and slow tunes for a fast paced Capcom fighter?... bleh!

Funny, I always liked the MvC2 soundtrack. I think you guys pay to much attention to it. I've had MvC2 since launch on DC and I've never gotten tired of it or found anything I didn't like about it.

I guess to the majority, yeah. I always liked the lady sayin I wanna take you for a ride..... then the trumpets come in and stuff. Then when it shows the vs screen, Choo choo choo choo choo.... haha I need to go play it now.

I didn't care for the music either but the game is worthy of purchase regardless IMO.

What is the hacked version for? The DC?

Yeah, the Dreamcast. Also I have a friend who knew how to hack into it so we personalized our own BGM. I remeber playing to the song of Top Gun, "Highway to the Dangerzone." Good times.

yeah, some people don't seem to mind which is fine. It's a great soundtrack for a great game, but they just don't seem to work well together for me. might just be me or maybe not.

The "Gonna take you for a ride" is maddening. My friend and I will threaten each other with bodily harm if one of us takes too long making up their mind on the character select screen. No idea what Capcom was thinking with that song - none of the others really bother me, the loop is just WAY too short on that one.

And to the Last Blade question, my version (DC, if there is another) says "Heart of the Samurai", and it's definitely not PAL. No idea what the difference is.

Speaking of DC fighters, any decent place besides Ebay to pick them up? I still need MvC2 (it was my friend's copy), Project Justice, the Capcom vs. SNK's, and the SFIII's.

I was just playing some Real Bout Fatal Fury, and I remember that there is some way to make Blue Mary stand up without her top on during a ring out or something. Anyone know the specifics?

I think you can see it when you beat the game, but I am probably wrong.

note to anyone: Anyone try the NeoGeo CD emulator on their PSP yet? I've heard King of Fighters 98 works 90% perfectly smooth on it... damn, that's one of the few games I have dreampt about playing on my PSP :) *tears of joy*

My cousin has a hacked version where it plays cheesy trance and house music for the dreamcast. Although some songs was cheesy, some came out not bad.

Thats nothing, me and my friends play Capcom Vs Snk 2 to Ace of Base! It's a very odd combo.

MvC2 music sounds resembles porno music to me. Not that I watch porno or anything.

I've never heard of that Blue Mary trick. And you're playing Real Bout not Real Bout Special, cause as far as I know Special didn't have ring outs. Plus what system or format are you playing it on.

I know in KOF 95' if you beat Yuri and King with some kind of special move their clothes rip off. That was the first time I learned King was actually a woman. How come SNK never had Choi or Chang's clothes rip off?

Also speaking of Real Bout Special does anyone else find the "2 plains" switching annoying? I hope SNK learned their lesson on that one. To bad GG Isuka added it in.

uhm dude, why do you want to see chang's man boobs?
MvC2 music sounds resembles porno music to me. When she described the "weird porno music" I knew she was talking about the second one.

What sucks the most is that MvC2 is one of the few fighting games in which you can't turn off the music... oh well, I usually just switch the sound over to the TV speakers and then blast some unrelated music from the computer.

this reminded me about a question that has baffleled me for many years... wtf is Bao (from KoF 99)? is he/she a girl or a boy or both?

I am guessing boy, but after looking at some of the pre-production art for his character, it looked like the artists were trying to make a sexually confused character.

Sexually ambiguous character design is all the rage in anime and games. There is a character from Samurai Shodown IV I still can't figure out (the name escapes me at the moment). It I have to look up Bao, I don't recall much about that character.

Bao is a boy. I thought he was a girl at first. Plus Bridget in Guilty Gear XX. I had enjoyed making fun of people when they picked her and thought she was cute. I never have this problem cause I usually pick the big manly men like Zangeif, Hugo, Ralf, Paul etc.

Is Ukyo the character you were thinking of from SS4? He's got long Blue hair and keeps his sword sethed at his side, or was the character you where thinking of younger with a umbrella?

We were talking about this earlier and I did aliitle research on the "Mary loosng her top" thing (I know it might be old news.) This was copied and pasted from a friend so I can't take credit for it. Here it is in detail:

Sound Beach stage, if Mary recieves a ring out on either side, she crashes into the water and her top floats to the surface. Mary herself surfaces soon after(though she's only high enough to give you the same amount of cleavage she always does). She realizes that she's topless, gasps, and dives back under.

If you want pics go to http://www.planetdreamcast.com/orochinagi/?

If you' you've never been to this site and call yourself an SNK fan then shame on you.

It's a great site for SNK fans, I thought it was the standard and everyone in "The KOF Loop" knew about it.

I played Samurai Showdown (Spirits) Special for the first time today. It played like SSIV pretty much but with a bunch of new characters. I'm not sure of what new moves each characters have. I hope we'll see a states side view of this, and if we do it'll be on the X-Box (The system most 2D fighter freaks don't own.) SCEA sucks for true fighting fans.

I keep doing that, but all that happens is that her top floats to the surface. I have blood selected on the dip switches, so I would have to believe its in adult mode. Maybe it was only in the japanese version and not the american?

SCEA dosen't stop 2d games from coming in, SNK Japan is just too bullheaded to release them for value prices in the US (which is what SCEA wants), thinking people want to pay 40 - 50 bucks for their old ass games.

I love SNK as much as the next person, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay top dollar for old games. Luckily they got smart and are releasing Samurai Shodown V (is this the US name for what you played?) and KoF 94 Rebout for 29.99.
I am almost sure it's the chick named Poison from final fight.
aha, here we go:

FULL NAME: Poison
PRIMARY SERIES: Final Fight Revenge

A carefree girl who enjoys playing cat and mouse with the cops. However, there's more to Poison than meets the eye. Poison used to be a man but had a sex change operation - this has been official in Japan ever since the first game. But since they still looked like girls, Capcom USA changed Poison and Roxy to boys in the US SNES version, but in the US made FFR Poison returned. "She" probably got a full sex change by now, and is working as Hugo's pro wrestling manager.

I found that on http://kattuggla.oru.se/dmd01/dm0103/test/shownamn.asp , so take that for what it's worth ... looks like a random fansite but they seem to know what they're talking about. This seems to happen a lot in Japanese stuff, where there's supposed to be all this sexual ambiguity but they cover it all up in the American version.

Haha, it's completely true, trust me. The reason Poison was changed in the US version was because I believe Nintendo or Capcom USA or someone didn't want to depict the violence of females in the game, so Poison became Sid, with some feminine looking clothes and a lesbian haircut. I guess after that, they decided to incorporate it into their official story.

Hey I got a completely unrelated question here: Could anyone show me what the arcade button layout is supposed to look like for Guilty Gear XX? I've been trying to think of the best way to configure the buttons for my joystick. If anyone has a link to a picture of the arcade controls, or could even just describe it, that would be great!

Guilty Gear XX has a 5-button setup.

[K] [HS]
[P] [-] [ D]

K= Kick
P = Punch
S = Slash
HS = Heavy Slash
D = Dust

The [-] is not there/used.

Thanks! Looks like it should be easy to replicate with a standard "Street Fighter" button setup (I can just ignore the middle button on the bottom row).

That KOF 11 from the link Rodimus posted looks pretty sweet. Is it already in arcades? If not it'll probably be a long ass time before we get a port to consoles.

Considering the bottom pic is a guy playing it on an arcade cab, I'm going to assume it's in arcades :D

lol I'm just messing with you, the game is still doing location tests in Japan.

Also, a collection of Last Blade 1+2 is hitting ps2 in Japan... wonder if it'll come out for Xbox with Xbox Live?

Plus, mmcafe put up some vids of Neo Geo Battle Coliseum -

Unfortuantely it goes through Fileplanet, which sucks.

Why should SNK have to release it as a Value Pack? SCEA just doesn't let them bring a 2D fighter over untouched anymore. But don't forget they brought over a couple value packs already, so it's not fair to call them bullheaded. Plus I want the games on console release fast, I don't want to wait for more games to come out so they can bundle it. I know it's against CAG rules to say this but I really don't mind paying $50 for a fighting game if I can get it ASAP (Japan pays much more on release, I've seen KOF 94 ReBout for $60.) These are the games I REALLY want, plus I like to support SNK.

Don't get me wrong I like the Bundle Packs, they're cheap and you get more games, but by the time we get them in the states I'm kinda tired of waiting and want the newer one that came out in Japan already. Think about it, America didn't get KOF 2000 until 2004.

This is the best Ken figure. I have one but mine has marks on it.

Thanks for posting that. After I saw it I immediately went on ebay to find myself one. Today I was close to getting one but lost out right before I was about to enter another bid, mainly cause I was also watching the auction for the Ryu one which I did win. There was an Akuma Jr too but I'd rather get a more fierce looking Akuma. Now I gotta get a Ken asap to put next to Ryu. Got any other cool figures to recommend? :D
