I'm heading off to Iraq in a couple days

Good luck man. You may go nuts if you can't sell a system for a whole 4 months. I fell into that category of not getting ripped when I wa sover there. The food was too good and that damn heat eliminated any desire to work out

My wife died recently. She fell off a cliff and died on impact. Thanks man, thanks a lot.

PICS?

Good luck, my cousin just got back from a year and half over there. It's hell on earth if your fighting over there. However I glad that you won't have to see that kind of action I mean what the worst that could happen in iraq...Still good luck.

He could find out that he's married to his sister:lol: but at least shes Heather Graham!

My cousin was in infantry and when he gets drunk and tells his stories. You are just like oh okay hang on I got to go throw up I will be back in a sec. It's really sad really really sad.

I unfortunately do not know you very well, but I wish you all the best anyway.

If I find any more good but cheap GBA goodies, I may send them your way.

Godspeed.

Sailorneorune

P.S. The horrible voice acting in Rhapsody may make for a great defense. ;)

Best of luck to you man! This ought to be an experience of a lifetime for you. Keep your head down but definitely enjoy yourself! Come home safe! There are always more games to play.

Heather Graham... We need to see more of her. On toopic, though, good luck OP. Don't get blown up by some pussy suicide bomber.

Good luck pal, hope everything works out, and congratulations for finally getting to do what you say you've wanted to for a long time

Hope you have fun over there. :)

Look on the bright side:
1. youll have pooloads of money to buy all the games you missed when you get back.

2.Hazard and all the extra duty pay youll get will make up for the 4 month vacation :p - Unless of course your wife spends it all before you get back ;P

3. It will be a unique experience that your not likely to experience again.

4. Its only 4 months as opposed to those who get tours that are twice as long or extended tours with a BS excuse on why they can't get rotated out.

Plus, all my pay will be tax free, so I will be making a pretty penny over there. We actually plan on saving most of it, though. But I'm definitely going to be setting about $350 back for the Revo and a few games.

Yeah, I'm trying to look at it as a positive experience, too. I'm just hoping not to go on any convoy missions, though.

The Army has definitely gotten a raw deal outta this. Especially the guys who were ready to go home and then the Army extended them for a year. That was real messed up.

Good luck on getting ripped and keep that Bible close by, God works in mysterious ways. Stay safe and take care of yourself and your gaming. As for the Cowboys....we'll see how they do, but hopefully not better than my Bucs.

Are they treating you like military? Meaning, you get to keep all of your money because you wouldn't really have to buy anything, because they feed you and provide you with necessities?

I think you're referring to our per diem. No, I won't get any because, like you said, the military is giving me food and shelter. But I will still get combat pay, hazardous duty pay and family separation pay, which will be a very nice bonus. Not to mention, my base pay will all be tax free.

Hey fellas, I just thought I'd stop by and say that I've made it here okay. I'm through almost two weeks already, and it doesn't seem like that long at all.

It really sucks over here, but us Air Force guys don't have it near as bad as the Army does. We have to be here four months compared to the Army's one year deployments.

In a lot of ways, I imagine it almost like being in prison. Well, since I've never been in prison, I wouldn't know, but it does suck here. I work about 12 hours a day and barely can stay awake long enough to watch a DVD when I get back to the tent.

The place itself is pretty trashy. No one really seems to care if there's trash anywhere, but I guess I can understand why.

It's not nearly as dangerous here as I thought going into it. You hear a few explosions every so often, but nothing seems to get too close. All the crazy stuff is happening outside of the camp.

It's really, really sad to hear about all the people dying everyday. Everyday we have a Marine, Soldier or Airman getting killed. Just yesterday, we had the first female die in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom. That was kinda freaky.

What really upsets me, though, is hearing about the insurgents killing their own people. I can't go too much into it, but they are heartless cowards.

Everytime we try to confront them and fight, they usually just run away.

Well anyway, I'm here and safe and am trying to have a good a time as I can.

I guess the one bright spot here is there's these shops run by local Iraqis. They sell pirated DVDs for about $3 a piece. I bought one DVD that had Stealth, Mr. and Ms. Jane, Fantastic Four, Batman Begins and War of the Worlds on it. Not too bad for $3.

So you're working in the Air Force, employed by the United States, and you're violating a top copyright law.. very nice, haha i'd do the same thing.

Oh, and by the way.. it's Mr. and Mrs. Smith. And unless they're really, really shitty quality, there's no way they could cram that many on one DVD.

Actually, Iraq doesn't have any kind of anti-piracy laws, so it's perfectly legal to buy and sell pirated DVDs here. The quality isn't that great. They have to be compressed a bit to fit them all on one disc.

I'd assume they'd be put on the constitution... :whistle2:k

I kid, of course.

Glad to hear that you're safe and doing well. Continued best wishes to you. Don't take any unnecessary chances while you're there! (I'm sure family members have already told you that a hundred times....)

Let us know how things are going whenever you're able.

If you compress it as non-compliant VCD at 48kHz audio, you can fit something over 7 hours on one DVD blank. I've already taught you many of my secrets, Padawan. :)

However, you chose to let Nero do your bidding... the dark side of the force.

Grave, awesome to hear that you are doing OK. Stay safe, and drop in here whenever you can. :)
