Indiana Deals Thread
Hey guys, is the Indy Comp Usa closing?
I don't think it is. I haven't gone there to check it out in person, but I recall someone posting a link in the CompUSA clearance thread concerning stores that are closing and Indy was not on that list.

Good, I really didn't want to drive down to Indy again so soon anyway. Thanks for the info.

Another Gamecrazy bites the dust...

Gamecrazy in Munster IN will be closing it's door shortly. This location had one of the best crews around and I sincerely hope that they catch on somewhere else in the area. Thanks go out to Shawn, Mike, Alex and the other members of the crew for years of great deals and great service. You will be missed.

I don't/didn't get out to that location very often. Is it worth making a trip out? I am primarily concerned with finding 'kid games' for niece and nephews.

For you NW IN guys, the Vidette-Times newspaper is running a huge indoor garage sale next saturday the 31st at the Porter County Fairgrounds expo center in Valparaiso (1/2 mile south of US 30 on RT 49). Expect to get there early for the best deals!

It would be a wasted trip anyway if you're looking for games. I wiped them out of any good clearance games months ago and the last couple times I went back, they hadn't restocked anything. The console game section has been reduced to about one aisle and if they're still even ordering new games, it's in very small amounts. I'd say this store is pretty dead for video game clearance deals from now on, even if they aren't closing.

If you're just looking for deals on electronics, they do have those on occasion. The same time I picked up the clearance games (around Christmas), I got a portable DVD player with LCD screen for around $30.

The only reason I ever stop in this store is when I'm already in the area because of a sale at TRU or Half Price Books. I've been very disappointed on my last few trips.

How big is huge? I might drive up if I have nothing better to do that weekend...I have the garage sale itch already and there's no outdoor ones yet. I went to the indoor garage sale in Tipton a couple weeks ago...it wasn't that big but I did manage to buy a few hundred comic books for cheap. The only games I saw were Atari, which I passed on.

I've been doing a little cleaning and I got some game related stuff that I want to get rid of. It's not really anything that would likely sell in tradelist. Do you think I should do a garage sale or would it be is easier to put it on craigslist? I have a box of atari 2600 and some intellivision games I'm looking to get rid of as well as a telegames storage container for the atari.

Intellivision games not pictured.

Some of those instructions are included with that bundle of games. I threw away that controller in there since it was broken. This does include the lid.

This stuff I got from a little dumpster diving a particular game store in a big box. The two or three konami t-shirts might be worth shipping by themselves, but none of that other stuff really is, unless I did it as a lot.

I got some other stuff as well, a few pc games and some game boxes. Would any of you guys be interested? I'm looking for local buyers so I can avoid shipping costs if possible. I'm just looking to get rid of some stuff, get a little money, and not have a big hassle. I just thought I'd give any local CAGs the heads up before I'd do a small garage sale or put the stuff on craigslist.
What Konami Game is on the shirt???? Also what Size and How much for the shirt or all shirts??
I just checked and the Konami shirts are all Large, with Dance Dance Revolution on the back.

atari games really dont sell at yard sales anymore. I picked up around 30 of them last year for free . Funny they started at buck each. then 50 cents then 25 cents then 10 cents then said

FREE PLEASE TAKE THEM ALL.

i just got them tossed in my attic

Well, the paper says that they have over 200 dealers, but I wouldn't drive 3 hours just to go there. On the other hand, there are a couple of nice open air flea markets up here too that are just getting going.

Since I live in Valpo, I might take a trip over just to check it out. Then again, that all depends if:

A) I can find the power to wake up early enough.
B) I still have money.
C) Work doesn't call me in early.

If all three are true, I might as well head on up to see what the deal is.

Well, it's not 3 hours if I'm already in Kokomo to visit my parents...thanks for the info.

What's the addresses on those flea markets or do they have a website? I'll e-mail the info to my dad at least...he's an antique dealer, so he drives all over the place looking for deals.

Cool, thanks. I sent that info to my dad...he said he was going to Valpraiso this morning if he felt up to it but wasn't sure if he would since he has outpatient surgery yesterday.

Well I went to the Indoor Garage Sale thing and let me tell you, you didn't miss much. The place was so poorly organized and crowded that nobody was able to move. People were bitching and moaning about everything and the lines to get in the place were up to 1 hr, they just couldn't pack anybody else in the building. That being said, I didn't come away empty handed: Got a Virtual boy w/3 games for $30, Mario Party 5 & Super Smash Bros Melee for $10 each, Parasite Eve II for $3, 3 more gamecube games (Luigi, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Wrestlemania XiX) for $10, and a bunch of CDs and DVDs for $1 each.

Oh yeah, if there are any Star Trek Enterprise fans looking at this, there was one vendor who has the complete series for $125, I would have bit, but I already have them.

i wondered if

a. they were bootlegs
or
B they got them off walmart for 25 bucks.

still though i wonder why they would sell them for 125 when they could very easy get 200+ on ebay.

did you pay 10 each for those gamecube games (or 3 each) for the yu gi oh. Few years back someplace was selling that yugioh new for 1.99

The GameRush at County Line Road and US 31 had a copy of Saint's Row clearanced (after 50% off it's $30). The other GRs that I've been to didn't have it marked that way though.

ANOTHER INDIANA GAMECRAZY bites the dust:

I was down in Lafayette today and the Gamecrazy there on 38 is now closed. That makes 2 IN stores this week...doesn't look good for their survival.

Also, the Cash Loan & Security pawn shop on 52 and Union had a premium xbox 360 for $249 when I stopped in today. If there's anyone looking for one cheap, this might be your answer.

That sucks I was just at that Game Crazy not to long ago.

Brian do you live around Lafayette?

Nah, I live up around Michigan City, I do travel down there quite a bit though hunting for deals. I attended Purdue for 3 years down there, so I know the area pretty well.

Is it closing, or closed? Any idea what they are doing with the inventory?

I've hit up the GameRush in Lafayette on 52, as well as the GameRush in Indy at 82nd and Allisonville. Both have a decent selection on their clearance table, and it appears that both will be de-GameRushing. Per the employees they'll still be doing some games, but not as much. I expect they probably won't stock new titles anymore (at least not premium new titles).

personally i think they should change the game crazys into mcvan type places (where there are trade fees) they also should have a lot more touraments and other things. They have their own bulidings so its not like they dont have the space.

bad thing is Game crazy mostly does new games and really dont have jack crap in used games around here and when they do have used games they are like 5 bucks cheaper then buying new.

My problem with Game Crazy is their locations in Fort Wayne. Whenever I'm in Fort Wayne, I rarely go there because they are on the NW and NE side of town, and I live on the SW side of town (near U.S. 24 and I-69). It's just too far of a drive for me to bother.

Are you talking about Lafayette IN?? I was around there 8 days ago (to pick up After Burner for PSP, at Best Buy), and I thought it looked open.

E_G_Man, are you a student at Purdue (I am though)? There might be more Purdue students and Alumni here than I thought, because I've received PMs from a few asking me stuff. I'm probably the one here who does the most posting.

Oh, the Lafayette store is definitely CLOSED. I asked the guys at the Kokomo GC when it happened and they said monday of this week was their last day (just like Munster in NW IN) The kokomo store also appears to have received the majority of the Lafayette store's inventory with the rest going to the two remaining Indianapolis stores.

What are the two GameCrazy stores still open in Indy?

I see there's one on 38th and College and I visited the 38th and Lafayette Rd. (by the old TRU), but I don't recall if they're still open.

Looks like I may need to take a trip to the Kokomo GC. Haven't been there in a while, and need to trade some games in.

Kokomo game stores have had me pissed numerous times!! I hate to hear that stock will be going there!! The Kokomo GC Store screwed me out of a lot of good penny guides!!! They Refused to sell them to me......BUT it was ok for them to take them home!!! He had a stack behind the counter! The Game Xchange there also screwed me one day...The guy said they had a FFVII and he would sell it to me...then I get to the counter and he told me he wanted it and wouldnt sell it to me!!!! No More business in Kokomo for ME!!!

I just stopped by Cash Loan & Security, and they didn't have a 360 labelled $249, but did have one with no price that had a comment saying the door stuck. I checked the Manufacture date and it was 4-17 2006, so it should still be under warranty if anyone's interested.

Sombody must have got it then, I knew that one wouldn't last long. You snooze you lose I guess...

In related news, I spotted a used 20 gb PS3 at the Ameripawn pawn shop in Lake Station, IN with a price tag of $399. I tried to get the guy down to $350, but no luck. I'd definitely call first if you're planning on making a trip (219-962-5455) because he said that there had been a lot of people looking at it today. Happy shopping!
Kokomo game stores have had me pissed numerous times!!
Kokomo Gamecrazy is a dump off store in the district, basically they get all the crap that nobody else wants, plus they get all of the "defect" games that other stores send out to be "refurbished."

I'm good with Game Xchange now though, got a Marvel Vs Capcom 2 there for $30 the other day.

GREAT findon the Marvel Vs. Capcom! Some of my confidence got restored in Game Xchange today...I picked up Castlevania SOTN and my buddy got Castlevania Chronicles!!!

Anybody go to the coin-op auction today at the State Fairgrounds? I picked up a WWF Wrestlefest arcade machine for $65. The monitor probably needs replaced since everything looks green, but it works. Hopefully there's a way to tune it and nothing's wrong. I've wanted one for at least 10 years so I couldn't resist.

The one on 38th St. near TRU is gone. Tru is also gone. As are most of the other businesses in that area on 38th St., such as Circuit City. There are more empty buildings on that side of town every month...the city really needs to start some sort of reclamation project over there before there's nothing left.

I almost went to the coin-op auction but skipped it as I have no way to bring anything home and no extra money since I just paid my taxes and my 1st quarter estimated taxes. $15k down the drain...

I own several old atari arcade cabinets that need more electronic skill to fix than I have, anyone know any repair people in northern indiana that you can suggest?
I am looking more for quality than cheapass, as a couple are rare. any help would be very appreciated.
thanks

Yea I have been at Purdue for 3 years, with at least 2 left thanks to my major shift. I would of answered your question sooner but my thread subscription never alerted me that people were posting. Oh well.

Is there a website or way to get notification of these auctions before they happen? I live near the fairgrounds and never heard or saw anything about the auction...

I don't know how northern we are talking here. In my home town there is a guy who my parents bought their pinball machine that fixes arcade games, but we have been after him to fix my parents machine and he has been taking his sweet ass time. So I wont recomend him, although he does do good work when he actually does something. Anyways to the point I was trying to make. There is (maybe was, I haven't driven by in a few months) a store in Ft. Wayne called something like Eisner Sales..... Im afraid Im not positive on the name, but Im 86.43% sure that is it. They buy and sell arcade machines and I believe they advertise that they repair the arcade machines on their sign. So if Ft. Wayne is northern enough you might want to look them up. If I think of anything else or more info on the place Ill edit this post.

I went to the fairgrounds' website (search Yahoo for the IRL) and brought up the events calendar. The next one isn't until October 13.

There is an arcade repair guy on Bluffton Rd in Wanedale (suburb on the south of Ft. Wayne. I think it's called Playfair coin-op amusements or something like that. I called them when I was starting my MAME cabinet about buying a cabinet or parts. The guy was actually really helpful and pointed me towards some wholesalers who could give me better on buttons and switches than him.
There is also a Game Room supply store on W. Jefferson between Jefferson Point and the park.

Thanks for the help on the arcade stuff.
I will be calling them about parts. If I would have had less wine before posting I would have said that I needed someone in the Elhart/ Goshen area to physically look at a vector-generating monitor. I was looking for parts too however and since I work in FW the previous information will be helpful.
Thanks

I can finally help you CAGs out.

They received a shipment of 24 Wiis and when I left the store they were deciding if they were going to sell 12 today (Must keep 12 for Sunday's ad) . But I know some of the employees were wanting to purchase them too.

At the very least there will be 12 on Sunday and they will be handing out tickets.

Good luck!
