This is a continuation of this previous thread. Since it reached 5,000+ posts making a new thread is easier to read through.

Post any deals you find, recommendations, requests for deals, etc. Please keep things as civil as possible. There's no such thing as a bad deal post and reviews are opinions. :)

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Price Drop Sites

App & Game Review Sites

Important Notes:

  1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
  2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
  3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
  4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
  5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
  6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
  7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
  8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
  9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.
iFixit Touch Repair Guide ; iFixit iPhone Repair Guide ; TechRestore
  10. Using a screen protector can extend the life of your device. Most stores carry these, but they can be hard to install. The best I have personally used are made by a company called Power Support. They have both clear and anti-glare protectors. They are easier to install because the protector is a firm yet thin piece of plastic. Two come in a pack, average price I've seen is $20. They have an Ebay Store that might save you a few bucks.

I just got my iPhone 4 and it is a slick beast. I know folks got a speed bump (probably the biggest) from 3G to 3GS, but I hadn't realized how much more responsive this (and last gen) models are. Night and day. Really looking forward to going through my games and seeing how well they play on the new kit. All games are feeling at least 2x to 6x more responsive than my 3G; no joke, I've actually timed some of the loading/screen transitions.

I just jailbroke my 3G so I can sell it on ebay and guess fucking what? The redsn0w jailbreak enabled iOS4 multitasking on the 3G!

EDIT: Ha! My 3G now multitasks, has the wallpaper options and can choose the numeric battery!
Also I wonder when Street Fighter is going to be on sale
It was on sale a month or so ago but I honestly dont see it going on sale for quite a long time. So if you really want it, you should get it. I honestly feel its worth the 10 bucks, but i paid 7 for it. :D
i activated my phone via the online process over an hour ago. still not working.
I did mine 5 hours ago, just clicked the link again, hoping it would give me a status. Said

"This device could not be activated. Call Premier Support at 1-866-499-8008, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time."

I can still use it like an ipod, but not a phone. I plan on stopping by ATT in the morning.

The puzzle game Push Push Island has dropped to FREE temporarily (http://itunes.apple.com/app/pushpush/id371054527?mt=8). It sounds very goodly:

"PushPush Island is puzzle game to get the materials through island exploration for repairing broken airplane. In this sequel, you can enjoy the game which is added new character and action.

It includes in 3 distinctive characters with 3 actions, cute and animated characteristic graphics of each region.

In the addition, there are a wide variety of over 200 maps, two game modes.

you can find the interesting game even more upgraded more than the original."

Daredevil Dave is free?! Awesome! That's one of the games I've really wanted but hadn't bought for whatever reason. CAG is the gift that keeps on giving. Thanks, Malik!
I wonder how similar it is to Joe Danger, the PS3 download game that's getting crazy high review scores.
I bought this game its really fun, Me and 5 of my friends bought it and we play against each other if anyone gets it challenge me my name is Trojann:bouncy:
I'm helplessly addicted to Words With Friends too. If anyone wants a game hit me up I'm schnuth on there too. ;)

On Words With Friends I'm crunc. I played a lot a whole back, but got burned out. It's been long enough that I'm up for games again - time work on burning myself out again. :)
any case recommendations for the 4 yet? I'm gonna see what best buy has, apple store will be too crowded and over priced.
The Apple Store here had no cases, bumpers, or even screen protectors -- the only accessory they had in stock was the dock. Sucks. I'm paranoid about even carrying it around without a screen protector. Hopefully Best Buy or the AT&T store will have something, but they were both closed by the time I got out of the Apple Store last night.

Anyone else seeing the yellow spot problem? I've definitely got some in the lower corners of the screen. They do seem to have faded a bit since yesterday, though, so I'm hoping that reports that it will go away in a day or two are accurate. If I can still see them by, say, Monday, though, back to the Apple Store it goes.

no yellow spots here.

i got a case and screen protector at best buy. ive had a hell of a time getting the two on and i think its a problem with the design of the iphone and the new flat curves. finally got two that seem to jive. the case its self isnt heavy duty so i dont know how much it will help against a big drop, but it should do the job in preventing scratches just fine.

I was thinking of maybe taking my phone to the BodyGuardz kiosk at the mall and having them put the screen (and back) protector on for me. They're a lot more expensive than just buying a protector at Best Buy, but if I wouldn't have to deal with all of the bubbles and such that invariably happen with a self-installed protector, it might be worth it. Anyone have any experience with them? If so, how durable are they? Is it worth it?

I think I'm rolling naked this time around minus the bumpers whenever they get them in.

Also, no reception problems, yellow spots, or reversed volume buttons for me
....

iTankster is also FREE for a limited time (http://appshopper.com/games/itankster-addictive-tank-game).
"iTankster is simple yet hugely addictive tank game in which players must destroy the enemy skull to collect Crystal; before the enemy tanks destroy your castle and collect the flag. iTankster is an action filled tank game for iPhone and iPod Touch that is wickedly addictive. Stop the enemy from blowing up your castle and collect the flag. It sounds easy but as more and more tanks and enemies attach, you will need strategy, skill, and luck to win."
Apparently iTankster is also bundled with 3 other games in their other still currently 'free for a few days' app 26 in 1 Game Utilities.

Don't know if it's any good, but you can judge.
Good vid, for what it's worth my 3GS started up at the 33 second mark of your video.

I also sent a couple requests for Words With Friends games. I'm FastShoes.
You sure you have a 3GS? That's super slow. I clicked it as he did, and it launched at the 21 second mark.

For sure 3GS with i4OS, and I timed it from pushing the app to non-loading screen it takes me 17 seconds.

Angry Birds takes 10.5 seconds.
anyone here have antennae issues? looks like i hold my phone "wrong".

also, my words with friends name is ramstoria.
apple released a statement saying "Don't hold it like that" or something along those lines, gizmodo was talking about it, I think they still have the full statement on the front page.

lol that it is, that it is. Of course that is just Apple for you I guess.

I love word games. So I, too, decided to splurge a buck and I picked up Words With Friends yesterday. I'm Dimms on there and I'll probably be bugging some of you for a game after work. Feel free to do the same with me.

Strange, because Angry Birds took about 11 seconds for me, Tilt to Live takes about 9 seconds. This is ensuring they're not running in the background.

Ok, just got off a 30 minute phone call and looked at the screen . . . The yellow spots are now more visible than ever. I hate to say it, but I think it's probably got something to do with temperature, and they're going to become visible again whenever the phone gets warm. I just made a Genius Bar appointment for tomorrow to get it replaced, hopefully they actually have a replacement in stock.

Edit: And, 15 minutes later, with the phone sitting on my desk unused, the yellow spots have faded again. Has to be temperature-related.

They completely sold out of cases covers when I got mine yesterday, but a lady walking by heard me asking about them and told me the AT&T store upstairs had cases and covers. I ended up getting a silicone iLuv case from the store and it fits perfectly! I am holding out for otterbox to come out with cases, so this will do, until then! :)

Regarding the guard shield, or whatever it's called, a rep at Apple actually recommended it (since they had no covers). Said it runs around 50$ to completely wrap the phone, but it has a lifetime warranty, and you only have to pay 5$ if you ever have to replace your phone! I'm still trying to decide, on it, myself. :)

Ok this thread has completely de-railed from posts about deals to a iphone 4 gush/support thread. Lets keep it on track here folks.

How long was that gameloft sale? It felt like less then a day to me, i was going to pick up Nova for a $1 but i guess it's gone now. Anyone know if that game goes on sale often?

edit: beat it to me by like 5 seconds! ack!

That's the first time I've seen a sale on N.O.V.A. personally - but one of the sites we often reference has a price tracker built in...is it App Shopper, I think?

Yes, App Shopper shows a title's price fluctuations (if any). And, no, N.O.V.A doesn't ever really go on sale. They dropped it from $6.99 to $4.99 but that was more of a price adjustment than a true sale.

I don't know about others, but me as non "real" cell phone guy; I'd love to see the new Touch be identical to iPhone 4 with a 3G model similar to the iPad setup. I would probably eat that up in a heartbeat.

Super KO Boxing 2 is free! I had a blast with this Punchout clone. Can't pretend to be a fan of them offering cheat mode as paid DLC though but whatevs.
