I'm getting quite worried now my phone won't connect to my PC at all now. It just resets and iTunes freezes.
Make sure you have the newest version of iTunes and restart your iPhone...mostly just restart your iPhone....you jailbroken and/or unlocked?

Nope its 100% legit.

Current version of iTunes. I bet it has something to do with me installing the new software yesterday then it asking me to do it again earlier.. something much of went wrong.

The phone just arrived today. What a waste of 10 days. Turns out it's just a jailbroken, software unlocked phone. I figured as much when I opened the box and immediately noticed that it wasn't sealed, despite being advertised as "new, never opened" and "officially unlocked from factory." They even put a sticker on top of it that says upgrading the software will relock it permanently. If I don't hear back from them by the end of the day, I'm probably just going to file a chargeback instead of wasting time with eBay/PayPal. :(

They're a power seller with 99.6% positive feedback (over 5,200), so I don't know why they'd try to scam people like that.

I'm having a hell of a time waiting for 2 purchases from the same scammer to be refunded. Been almost a month since I opened the dispute. Paypal said it has been resolved and I should see a refund within 5 days. They returned the smaller amount, but still waiting on an $1100 refund from the second. You would think it would be simpler, considering ebay basically forces you to use paypal.

When you say "the same scammer," do you by any chance mean Digital Sound? The guy that was responding to my e-mails kept on trying to get me to keep the phone in exchange for a discount, and acknowledged that they made a mistake in the listing, but I told him I just wanted a refund. I wound up taking the phone to FedEx less than two hours after I got it.

Did you really think Apple allowed their phones to be jailbroken and unlocked at the factory? REALLY?
Apple sells unlocked iPhones in Hong Kong fuckhead
Thanks for the info! I'm not the smarty that got scammed so I don't see how the "fuckhead" description applies. Again though, thanks!

Did you even read what I wrote? REALLY? Factory unlocked iPhones don't require a jailbreak, moron.

iPhone 3G & iPhone 3GS purchased at the Apple Online Store can be activated with any wireless carrier. Simply insert the SIM from your current phone into iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS and connect to iTunes 8.2 to complete activation.

once again...im not the moron, you are a moron if you got scammed and you are a moron if you pay more than $400 for one of those phones....

i can walk down to att right fucking now and buy the phone for $200 and immediately cancel the contract for another $200 and then unlock the phone myself

or better yet go here: http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/cell-phones/refurb-phones.jsp and then buy the phone for $50 and then break contract for $200....$250 for a jailbroken/unlocked phone......and I'M the moron....

Sorry to change the subject. I can't remember if somewhere in this thread I read it or elsewhere. If your looking for a cheap, and I mean really low priced case or iphone car charger check monoprice.com. Got the car charger for under $3 and the case for like $1.20. Reviews are good. Should have it this week. I apologize if it was here that I originally was directed to monoprice but thought I'd share the info in case it was another site.

You can't buy a 32GB iPhone for $200, nor can you immediately cancel the contract without also having to return the phone, unless you pay full price ($700) for it.

I bought one from the Apple store a month ago, unlocked it with purplera1n/ultrasn0w, and took it back two days later because I didn't feel like having to wait for the Dev-Team to release a new fix everytime Apple updated the software, nor did I want Cydia on my phone.

Getting scammed is something that was completely out of my control, so yes, you most certainly are the moron. What part of "I don't want a jailbroken/software unlocked iPhone" do you not understand?

You dont have to put Cydia on the phone when you jailbreak. Getting scammed is completely within your control. You fell for it. No one's fault but your own.

Wow. Is the fact that I don't want a jailbroken phone just not sinking in? That's one of the dumbest selective responses I've ever read.

I am having a problem with streaming audio from Pandora, AOL Radio, Last FM, NPR etc. Basically it works fine for about 10 minutes or so then just quits streaming. Sometimes says buffering and other times it idles out. The connection (wifi) is strong. I don't know if there is a setting I need to adjust or what. Any help?

wifi/3g/edge can be funny. if the wifi cuts out for a second instead of keeping the connection on wifi and waiting for it to come back it tries to switch to 3g or edge and it can kill connections. ive had trouble with downloading large files because of this. the wifi stops for a brief moment and the phone tries to switch. (though this my or may not be the problem)

restore it to 3.0.1 and redsn0w it

Anytime you update you lose them, unless you get that one app that supposedly keeps them, although I've never tried it myself. I don't download that much crap for it to be worthwhile.

all you have to do to not have itunes delete your "apps" is to turn the sync with itunes option off in installous after you are jailbroken

also, thanks to having account settings and the app store right on the phone i dont even sync with itunes anymore..i dont keep music on the phone cause i just use pandora and pocket tunes. the phone is also set not to sync IF i plug it into the pc

I've been thinking of picking up an iPhone, but hear that AT&T kinda prevents it from being as awesome as it could/should be. So, what say you, iPhone people? Should I pick one up, or go with a Verizon phone?

AT&T is supposed to be up to speed with the iPhone by November.

I have Verizon and I love my BlackBerry but the iPhone is special.

AT&T and Apple might prevent it from being as awesome as it could/should be... But YOU can make it awesome... E.G. My Iphone 3G 3.0.1 on T-Mobile and w/ internet tethering on Edge. Edge may not be the fastest thing in the world but if you're in a pickle it can sure as hell help your ass out.

Yeah I love the phone but man...its a pain in the ass being with at&t. the service is fine but their lack of mms and internet tethering is lame. forces you to install a different carrier id or something. I forget since its been awhile. either way you can get internet tethering in 3.0.1. I am not sure if they offer it legit yet through at&t.

I think I will stay with 3.0.1. that new app verify process seems pretty lame. I could live without those apps...but they are still nice to have incase I dont have my nds w/ professor layton nearby.

if you get the phone and jailbreak you can do everything you want to with it..i have had tethering for a while now and had copy & paste WAAAAY before the new fw

I'm assuming that's a yes? I have no idea man, I still have only a classic, and the spinning harddrive broke on me. I can no longer add songs to it.
