I also had some bad luck today. While I was at the Milwaukee Ave. TRU I tried to get a Kameo and Gran Turismo 4 guide that were both pennied out but the supervisor was working the department by herself. I kept waiting for her to get replaced or go on break, etc. so I can get the guides. After waiting for so long, I had to go for it. I asked for price checks on them. As soon as she saw that they rung up for .01 cents, she immediately said she couldn't sell them and had to pull them all from the shelf :(

I guess you have to get the peeny guides with just regular workers running the registers...or even better, no where near the department.
Tried to pick up a few penny guides at the TRU on Western today, as I was back in the area to run some errands. I wanted to buy guides for Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, BLACK, Half-Life 2, and Yoshi's Island, but was denied on the ones that were actually pennied (two were and two weren't, can't remember which right now). The "R" Zone cashier simply placed the pennied ones aside behind the counter and told me she couldn't sell them to me. Ouch. At least I'm not much of a guide guy, so no big loss.

As far as games were concerned, I was tempted by the PS2 version of Karaoke Revolution Party, which goes for $9.99, but decided to hold off unless I can find a $19.99 version with the bundled mic. Drill Dozer and Sigma Star Saga hung around for the GBA, as did Polarium Advance, that single copy of WarioWare Twisted in lock-up, and a Lost Magic (DS) as well. Actually glad I could walk out of there without spending anything, as I put the full-price guides back after checking 'em out. Good luck, all.

I didn't want to start a new topic and I apologize if I am hi-jacking a current topic.
Does any Chicago area CAG's know how often Fry's put out ads and where they can be found?

The last time I looked they use to have a Friday Color Ad in the Sun-Times. Did they change? I live in the far north suburbs and would like to take a road trip out there.

Thank you to all!!
Sorry about your penny guide fiasco. And I'm kinda suprised Warioware Twisted is still there!
I'm kinda surprised, too, but I guess not everyone knew it was down there (locked away from the rest of the GBA section, as it were). With the soaring popularity of the DS, people might also be less inclined to pick up GBA games than games "native" to the DS. I hate to admit it, but that probably factored in even a little bit to my reluctance to pick up Drill Dozer or Polarium, both inexpensive games that were fairly well reviewed for the GBA. Bring out another Tactics game for the little Advance, though, and I'll be there with money in hand, no questions asked. :)

(A belated) Happy New Year,
Dan

Good question! I'd like to know this, also.

They still have the Friday Ad but they switched over to the Tribune. I think they also have a smaller ad (not a separate pullout) on Wed that covers just Wed/Thurs - Will have to check on this though.

I was just at the hip mall and the suncoast was not their anymore. Are their any suncoast still in the city?
Also the gamers paradise in the hip mall still have a few zelda (gamecube editions) in stock. And the target in the same mall have a few capcom collection 2 still in stock for $10 (games a decent) for the ps2.

Gamers paradise..is that a new store? I haven't been to the HIP in ages. Do they have any good stuff?

Sucks about suncoast, the place sucked though. DVD prices were kind of high.

I agree that suncoast did have bad prices on DVD's but they did have some interesting other stuff for sale there. I was at the HIP about 2 weeks (?) before Christmas and Suncoast was there. Maybe they moved to a different part of the mall?

Also, I was just at Fry's today and they finally had The Warriors for Xbox marked down to $9.99. I bought 2 of the 3 they had left on the shelf. So if anyone's interested, head on down there. They also had The Bard's Tale for PS2 for $8 (Limit 1).

Gamers paradise has a few video games, board games, and role playing games in stock.

GO BEARS!

Any Wii yet guys... My birthday is on the 12th and I really need to find one... :(

EDIT: I called Target in Evanston and they said they havn't gotten a Wii shipment in 4 weeks.

I think it's in the Trib every day, either on the back of the Business section or Metro section, except for the 4 page insert of Fridays

10 60gb PS3s at the Clark Street Best Buy spotted today, no Wiis. The clerk said they haven't had people lining up for them either, might be a good store to hit for the rumored Jan 21st shipment.
i'm looking for any of the Donkey Konga games but no luck in that GS near my place. anybody here spotted them at least?
Have you tried the GameCube section of the Toys "R" Us on Western Ave.? I remember seeing the Donkey Konga 1 bundles for $20 each there, unfortunately not on clearance. (Those were the DK2 bundles for $10, I believe.) Oh, and if anyone finds the DK (non-Jungle Beat) games on the cheap, I'd be interested in them, too.

If anyone is interested in PS3's. The Best Buy on Elston near Ashland had 10 60 GB today.
No Wii's though.
Makes me think I made the right choice in November. Haha.

Damn, I guess I won't be getting a Wii on my birthday then. The ones on eBay are very pricey and I cannot afford that.

Resident Evil Dead Aim should be at GameCrazy on Clark. Try calling them before going though.

I just spotted a couple copies in Fry's in Downers Grove a couple days ago, but I didn't register the price at all, since I was only mildly curious.

Ok cool. When is the last time you were there? I remember the last time I saw it at my local crazy(couple years ago) it was marked 13 dollars. They haven't done the whole Gamestop jack the price up thing have they?

I've been there 1 week ago, and they had about 3 copies.

I don't remember the price, only saw the cases.

Hello hello =D

Just figured I'd say hey to fellow chicago folk.

Haven't found any great deals lately... sadly. Looked around at our Kmarts a bit, seems like people cleared them out already. Got Wind Waker for $8 and Donkey Konga 2 for $3.50 though, so I guess that's good.

Looking for Bongos, as I have none, so I can't play Konga 2. Are any gamestop in the west-suburb area selling them for the $5 they have them online? The ones (broadview and berwyn) I've checked are telling me $10. I'd like to not go for the online deal because I've got some gamestop giftcards I'd rather use up.
Anyone want to play some gow today?
You still down? I was about to play right now.

Just send me a friendly invite. tag - bobo2k4

Hey which Kmart did you hit? Are there any more Wind Wakers or Donkey Kongas?

Hey, cuu. Like fLipEN`said above, could you share which Kmart had the DK2 still in stock? I bought Jungle Beat and the two bongos when they were $10 after Christmas, but I still need some Konga music games to go along with them.

If it's bongos you're looking for, it looks like practically every EB/GameStop on the north side's got extra bongos in stock (if the online inventory system is to be believed). The problem is that the web site prices might not match with those in stores, unfortunately. And GS still doesn't take gift cards online? Sheesh. Short of that, if you're willing to go online and wouldn't mind picking up DK:Jungle Beat for $5 as well, get the set for $14.99 off their web site. Here are the GS web links I used for the bongos and DK:JB...

Well, sadly, I got the last copy of Donkey Konga 2, but they MIGHT have some Wind Wakers left. They had atleast 5 when I got Donkey Konga 2, but that was about a week ago. Someone could of snatched them, but who knows. They seemed to have a pretty well stocked game section (see: tons) when I went, there may be some good deals still hidden there. I didn't really check anything besides Gamecube.

It was the Roosevelt (Near Desplaines Ave) Location in Forest Park.

I might bite on that Jungle Beat deal, but I kinda dont want to spend more money than I have to at the moment. I want to play Konga 2, and it totally sucks without the bongos! I might just wait for another gamestop deal or something. -shrug-

WOW! I went there today (one on Clark) and nothing was there. No Dead aims, no cases, nothing. If you saw them there, someone must have cleaned them out. The lady working there called a Crazy on I believe Kedzie but they only had the disc.

If someone cleaned these out, F U!!

Chicago cags do me a good one and let me know if you spot Dead aim with a case anywhere...please, thanks!

gamestop has their product availability online (just tried, a few in the area say they have a copy), did you try calling around to those places that say they've got 1-3 in stock?

Thanks. I'll try that route. I kind of don't go to gamestop for used stuff since about 90 percent of the time I buy a game it doesn't work or freezes constantly. I hope they didn't do a jacked up prices for it.

Thanks for the heads up!

Anyone pick up Dungeon Siege Throne of Agony PSP at Any best buys here? Was there any at the BB at the HIP?

I picked up the last two on the shelf at the Best Buy on Ashland and Armitage.

And at the Target on Touhy in Nile is Diablo2 and it's expansion for $4.98 each. One left of each. They had TONS of clearanced $13.98 games....especially Metroid Prime 2 for Gamecube. They also had $10.98 for Zookeeper DS and Ping Pals DS.

Any good clearance stuff for PS2?(is it in the regular stuff, you know with all the PS2, cube, and XBOX GH section like all the other Targets?)

Nothing for the PS2 caught my eye except Resident Evil 4 (Hits version) marked down to $13.98. I THINK they had only one of those (which I didn't buy).

They also had Quake 4 for PC (didn't check the price, tho) just in case anyone's interested.

WOW what a great game! Bears killed!

Any area deals on a 1GB PSP memory card?

The toys r us at melrose park had spartan (xbox) for $7, xbox (gameshark) w/memory card for $3, intec joystick (xbox) for $8, and a few xbox 360 faceplates for $5.

GO BEARS!

The Target on Elston Ave. in Chicago has Battalion Wars (Gamecube) clearanced at $7.48 ($8.15 with tax). They do have a few left...about 7-9 from what I remember.

Just and FYI, both Gamestops in Orland Park are running the b2g1 free sale on all used products. The employee that I spoke to said that this will go on indefinitely, but just at the two Orland stores. Are there any other stores like this around Chicagoland?

No other one's found yet, but try Gamestops close to Best buy's.
