Home of the 2009-2010 stanley cup champions - chicago blackhawks!

Hello, I am a Chicago guy so I would like to start a Chicago thread so maybe we can help each other out by letting Chicago area cheapasses find cheap deals.
Yea, that is just straight up shady. Unfortunately it happens across America.
Its pretty much the same thing every store does. Buy something from one provider and mark it up for sale. Its just that this happened right before your eyes...but rest assured your getting gouged on everything one way or another :)
It is legit! I got my $5 Target Gc in the mail today.
When did you sign up? I signed up awhile ago and still haven't gotten mine...

What's up Chicago CAGers? Remember seeing this thread a while back and now I just happened to stumble upon it again. Thought I'd subscribe and check it out more often.

Jalopnik in their first video show interviewed U.S. Top Gear host Rutledge Wood asking him which was better: NY thin or Chicago deep dish. He picked NY, saying he had some less-than-polite symbolism for DD. He may know cars, but he doesn't know jack about pizza.
do you guys know of any chicagoland stores that sell retro gaming goods for cheap?
Slowdive's basement. I have a lot of retro stuff...What are you looking for?

As far as stores go, a lot of them have folded.

pretty much everything, im slowly building my collection. The only retro systems i have so far are genesis, NES, and SNES. Still looking for game gear, saturn, the ataris, ect.

Disc Replay is a good spot. Not alot comes in but if you aren't specifically looking for something rare you should walk out happy. The other day I picked up Star Fox, Battletoads, TMNT 2: Arcade, and a couple others from Orland Park.
Got my $5 Target giftcard today, thanks to whoever found this deal. The good thing is the gc doesn't expire.
That would be me. Yeah it is nice that you get an offical GC and not some code or something.

The DR by me in Aurora has been pretty disappointing. Not much of a retro collection and it's been sitting there for months.

Until garage sales start up again, I've been trying my luck at thrift stores. Once in a great while you can find retro stuff at them.

Oh, and I saw another dead Play N Trade. Aurora, this time.

I think I'll will be more active also this year on going to check out garage sales. I would be checking out for video games and some toys.
Interesting... so what are you planning to do with all of those NESes you've found? Willing to part with any in good working order? Curious about picking up the original Contra for it at some point, but I suppose having the appropriate hardware would help.
Yes, I will eventually part with them. I am still cleaning some and on others I am doing a security chip mod. The main reason is to prevent "the blinkies" Power on/off/on/off, but it also allows some PAL games to be played too.

I would like to do some LED mods (basically change the LED color for the power button) and eventually, I would like to do some custom paint on them.

I am still trying to come up with a fair pricing structure for them, since they have all been disassembled and cleaned. I am not looking to gouge people, but I have to take into account the time I spend on them.

thrift stores are a good place to find some old (and new) games. I noticed the salvation army stores are better for newer games and goodwill or savers for older ones.

I don't suppose anyone picked up any of the $20 PS3 controller game bundles that were on clearance at K-Mart. I am still frustrated that I did not check Willowbrook when I found out about the clearance as it was a few days later that someone cleaned them out. I still only have one PS3 controller. :\

I swung by the Kmart on Milwaukee avenue on a whim, but didn't see any.

I checked a store yesterday and they were gone. Some guy said he hit all of the Chicago stores and bought all of the bundles in the deal thread.

HIP plaza k
elston / foster k
addison / kimball k
7600 s. pulaski k
5050 s. kedzie k AND
ashland & Miwaukee K-marts and i wiped them out of all their 19.99 bundles ... 5 of the stores were empty , i got lucky at the HIP location but they are now out
that way you wont waste your time traveling to these k mart locations, cant travel to the suburbs so thanks OP !!!
Why doesn't he just say $50 shipped if you are interested... jerk

Heard it was gonna be bad tonight for people up north here. West surburbs here have been pretty clam and boring.

Has anyone been able to find Shinobido 2 for the Vita at any B&M stores around here besides gamestop? Can not one anywhere.

I don't think anyone else is carrying it at retail...But I could be wrong.

Aw man, that stinks. Still waiting for my copy to ship from best buy warehouse that is backordered currently
Target (Addison Mall) has a fresh batch of Skylanders figures today, if you guys are looking for them. Go, go, go!!!
Anyone here into this game? Is it fun and worth collecting the figures? I ask because was thinking on getting this for my son.

From what my co-worker says, her sons love playing it. She isn't to fond of the idea of buying a ton, but you can get away with it if you just buy one of each specialty a figure has like the flying ability. You can just get one of those figures and be good on all the flying portions of the game from how she described it to me.

If anyone is looking for Mass Effect 2 for either 360 or PS3. The BB on four corners (downers grove) had a ton when I went in the morning, 10+

Yo is anybody going to the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) April 13th-15th in the North Building at Mccormick Place this year?

I think a bunch of my buddies and I are going. Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine and Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria are going to be there so It would be awesome to meet them.

I'm going with my Dad, bro, and friend.

My dad convinced the radio shopping show to carry weekend passes to C2E2.

They will be $24 for a weekend pass.

I am not sure how many they have. Sometimes items can go cheaper closer to the event date, but since these are more than 50% off, they probably won't last. :bouncy:

Is this c2e2 sale site still work? It says VOID VOID VOID on the bottom of the listing. I am planning to order from there.

Yeah the void is just so people don't try to print out the page. You will get the actual plastic badges for the convention.

You need a keytag number that you get free when you go to checkout.

Basically the radio shopping show has deals for a lot of different businesses.

It's basically Groupon before Groupon existed. ;) They have gameworks and other places on there. I think I gave some CAGs some free passes when we met up at GW a loooong time ago.
