What does that mean if it rings that way?

I have no idea. I was going to buy it but didn't go through the hassle. Maybe the Target thread has some info on it. Just jump on it quick. I'm not sure how long those are going to be there.

I'm going to call the FYE at the HIP first thing in the morning and see if they still got any more copies left so I don't have to waste my time. I'll update tomorrow.

Hey everyone.

@ The Chicago Auto Show at the Ford Section. I was asked by one of those floor models if I want to get a free 75$ for test driving a car. To be more specific she was on the turn table of the Ford Mustang Bullet(green) just near the Mustang King of the Road edition. They took some information of mine and you get contacted by email. I am guessing its like the other Ford deal for the 50$ BB GC where you really dont even need to test drive the car just get it signed by the dealer. I am still waiting on the email but if any CAG that planned on going out to the auto show try to look for that when your in the Ford section.

Edit: got an email finally. take it to the dealer to get it signed and they you go to another website to request your 75$ mastercard giftcard. Free game. :D

So, where is the game deal?
Is their anyplace in Chicago where you recommend to check out for cheap games?
Disc Replay and Cash Converters (great pawn shops that usually sell things wayyyy underpriced)

Past Woodfield Mall!!!

That's a hell of a gaming deal.... oh wait... PHAIL!!!

Target at the Brickyard had 2 Megaman X Maverick Hunter left for $15, if anyone is interested. It's not a clearance price, seems to be a markdown.

The tilt at Ford City Mall is still open(7601 South Cicero Avenue). Their newest games that I remember playing there were King of Fighters XI, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum and Metal Slug 6. I'm hoping that they get Street Fighter 4 if it sees a US arcade release.

Thanks for the info on the arcades.

If anyone in the Chicago area (hollywood video at elmwood park in harlem ave) is interested they had a copy of beowulf and blade runner on hd still availbe . Call ahead just in case.

The 2 for $20 deal.
Just as a note, Diversions in Chicago has been closed for a year or two now. It used to be behind the Lincoln Village theater by Kimball/McCormick and Devon (or Peterson). I posted a comment for it on the classicgaming site so others are aware as well.
Whoa, Diversions. I feel like I'm 14 again.

I wonder if Novelty Golf (Bunny Hutch) in Lincolnwood still has their arcade open. I used to hit those batting cages after work to relieve stress.

I believe Bunny Hutch looked open whenever I drive past it (does the course close for winter?), but I haven't been back to see the games inside since Street Fighter II was still in vogue. Maybe I'll stop by 'n' see (though I hear the food was atrocious). For those who don't know, Bunny Hutch/Novelty Golf is located just behind the Shell station on Devon and Lincoln.
nickel city @ northbrook
Indeed. Use a coupon from a local phone book or look online for a CAG-ish discount (the two-dollar cover they charged the last time I went can't be beat for nickel-run and even free arcade machines; Capcom games are everywhere, even if the floor space seems to have shrunk over the years):
You guys find anything good lately? Any nice .01 Best buy finds? Target clearance?
I actually got some guides from the last Best Buy drop. I missed the last few before that. I got just about every guide I wanted from the drop and the ones I didn't find, I traded some dupes from the drop to get them. Got them from the BB on North and Sheffield. They had practically all the pennied guides when they dropped Monday. :D

All I got this time was Kane & Lynch. I think the kid who works in the game section at the BB by my house buys all the pennied out items. Last round he followed me around the game section when he saw I was carrying several guides (FF III,Gears, etc). He kept asking me what guides I was buying and if I was looking for any other ones and kept offering to ring me up. I said "No thanks...I am still shopping", because I figured he would tell me he couldn't sell them to me. After him asking to ring me up for the third time, I noticed another customer who was looking for help that this kid was ignoring while following me like a lost puppy. He asked me once again if I "needed help" and I replied "No, but that guy over there looks like he could use some help". I then walked briskly to the front of the store - using the other customer as a c-block and checked out my penny guides! :whistle2:\"

Does anyone know any gaming magazines or websites based in Chicago? I have to do an internship for school and it would be cool to do one at one of the above places.

Midway is located in Chicago, if you want to check them out.

I think the EA office is closing/closed, so Midway is the only game in town.

I would go for devil's due publishing in Ravenswood. They are the company that brought back GI joe comics. They used to have an area on the site for internships.

:whee: I WON A PS3!!!!!!!!!!! :whee:

Your Playstation 3 and Family Guy video game valued at $420 will be mailed to you via UPS.

(Yes it is real...it is from a local radio station contest.)

Which station? And congrats! That's the only way I'd ever get a PS3.

So do you guys/gals ever get together to swap guides? Is there any coordination of hitting stores. If we organized we could keep the lurkers and hoarders from getting the deals. The CheapAssGangstas j/k. But we could hit the stores more regularly. Just an idea.

BTW I saw a wii at the Clyborn BB last night (you have to ask for it). I actually see wiis pretty regularly if someone still wants one. It is not worth the eBay/paypal/shipping fess for me to resell them.

Does anyone know what movie is being filmed by Fullerton/Central Park? There's a whole mess of trailers and movie production trucks. It's weird that they would choose to film on the "ghetto" side of Chicago when they usually film around downtown or the suburbs.

Maybe it's a movie that takes place in the "ghetto" :)

But I'd like to know, also.

Fullerton & CP is the ghetto? My friend, you need to get out and visit the south side once in a while. :)

Anyway I'm thinking the movie was "Humbolt Park" since that's the name of the area as well - too much of a coincidence that another movie would be shooting there.

Believe me I know how bad it is in the south side. I was just saying that for the people involved in filming this, they must feel like if this is the bad side of Chicago. (Assuming that they are used to filming on the nicer areas of the city.)

Thanks. Sounds like a movie about gentrification!

And, I live in Humboldt Park so I'm ghetto! :)

But seriously, I am trying to buy a condo so I think I'm going to need to get rid of some things to save some space, and make some quick cash. Anyone interested in buying some comics? I have 3-4 half boxes, and 2-3 full boxes. Mid/late 80's to 90's range. Alot of "desirable" Uncanny X-Men. Alot of Spider-Man. A few of the (once) valuable early Valiant titles. Some are not mint/near-mint condition. I'm willing to sell them cheap but only all together. I'll have to get a list going and check the ones that might actually be worth more than a buck. Anyone interested?

I'd be down for a meet-up. I have a few guides that I need to get rid of.

I may be interested...How cheap is "cheap"?

mann i'm so oblivious. didn't even try checkin regional forums until today. sweeet. i passed on a lot of things and/or didn't know if anyone was lookin for em.

recently i got:

FEAR Platinum Hits (360) - $3.00 - None left @ Kmart Addison/St Louis (near Kimball)
NHL 2K7 (360) - $12.97 - 2 or 3 left @ Kmart Elston/Cicero
Xenosaga Greatest Hits (PS2) - $6.97 - 1 or 2 left @ Sears Stratford Square Bloomingdale
Xenosaga II (PS2) - $6.00 - 1 left Kmart Des Plaines (Oakton and something)

that's what i know as of this weekend, someone might have gotten to them. FEAR was pure luck. everything else there was above the posted prices in the kmart clearance thread.

anyway, i'll check back every now and then with what's good.

EDIT: oh and is anyone gonna go to the BB on Clark/Diversey? months ago i saw DW5: XL (PS2) there for like 19.99. can someone confirm if it's still there or around that price? don't wanna pay $26.99 used from gamestop.
I may be interested...How cheap is "cheap"?
I'm trying to get an idea of a price range that is fair for me and a deal for anyone that wants them. In another thread, others are getting rid of their comics for 50 cent to a buck a book, with the valuable ones with various prices. But they are doing it by the bunch with 10+ bunches. I want to go a little lower than that since I want to get rid of all of them for a nice lump sum.

I'll have to get my hands on a comic price guide or newest Wizard and check the prices of the valuable comics ($10+) and knock a huge discount off them. At least half. I know I want 3 figures for the whole collection, though. So there's not going to be a deal of the century on them, but I'll be pricing it all to sell kinda quick.

I'll get the list going the next day I have off.

Oh, and by the way, these will not be shipped. Interested buyers will have to pick up the books. Closest expressway by me is 90/94.
Here is the PS3 I won from the Drive FM!!!
haha i had to read that three times. the DRIVE?! seriously? and i thought they were cool for playin one 45 at 1:45...but what you got it is freakin awesome!

didn't know they give away things like PS3s. it's always concert tickets, gift certificates, etc.
