It's a Wonderful Last Movie You Saw

An excellent masterpiece from Fritz Lang. Not only is it a compelling and exciting movie, but it's also well ahead of it's time, both technically and in the subject matter; not just because it's about a serial killer, but because it doesn't portray him as purely evil, in black and white, but shows some understanding of why he does what he does without condoning it, and questions whether the most obvious, and most satisfying, course of action regarding him is truly the right one.

THAT MOVIE SUCKS, DON'T WATCH IT! WAIT FOR IT TO COME ON TV!

IT IS NOT A ZOMBIE MOVIE, THERE IS NO TENSION OR HORROR, AND THE ZOMBIES ARE NOT THE MAIN ENEMY, THEY ARE JUST PART OF THE SETTING!
The last I saw was Land of the Dead as well, but I disagree. I say wait for it on DVD. I didn't think it sucked.. I was entertained, but I agree, it really wasn't a zombie movie.. but I liked it.

Plus, that whole scene where one of the zombie grabs two fingers and pulls.. yikes. I'm new to the zombie movie genre, the only other one i've seen being the new Dawn of the Dead (though I do have the original).. I prefer Dawn over Land..

I hated the evolved zombie type thing, kinda ironic that the smartest one was a gas station attendant..

Uh... Congrats. You missed the entire point of the film.

Leon the Professional

A solid, fun action flick. Plus a good performance from Reno, as well as a great debut from Natalie. And Gary Oldman was ridicuously over the top.

 j/k... but if it were a real movie, I would go see it!

CLASSIC
I love that movie. I was diappointed that it was actually tamer than the show, but it was still fantastic. Mike Judge is a sage.

Garden State - Just watched this for the first time. This movie totally lacked sex and violence, but was majestically done, the story was great and the acting was great. The first twenty minutes were a little slow but after that it was captivating and had me thoroughly engrossed. That's a lot coming from me since I tend to gravitate to movies with sex and violence. I'd say everyone should give this flick a shot

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Not a great film, but certainly a good one, it's quite fun and entertaining. Not to mention that it is often fantastic to look at, as you'd expect from Terry Gilliam. And I'm not just talking about Uma Thurman ;)

And I'm with snotknocker about Garden State; I thought it was great and I'd highly recommend it.

Damn, I haven't seen that one in ... probably close to a decade now.

I think I'll pick it up once I recover from the DDD sale.

And of course Garden State is great.

The Ladykillers

1955 version. A great, very funny crime comedy. Fine performances from the cast, and some great black humor.

Master Killer aka 36 Chambers of Death
Master Killer 2 aka Return of the Master Killer
Master Killer 3 aka Disciples of the 36th Chamber

Strangely enough, 3 isn't a true sequel. Think of it as a Final Fantasy thing. Same group of characters, different storyline each time.

The Girl in the Café - 4/5

Finally a love story that isn't the same cookie cutter shit. Good story, Great acting! I was getting frustrated with the characters, the first sign of a great flick. HBO is king shit :D

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

Pretty good, I think it's about what I'd expected. The only other Anderson film I've seen is Tenenbaums, but since I loved that one, I figured that I would enjoy this one as well. And, while I did enjoy it, it wasn't as good as Tenenbaums. I think the biggest problems seemed to be with the story, which seemed a bit half hazard to me; it felt at times to be more a bunch of loosely related scenes tied together than a strong narrative moving the film along. The other thing that bothered me was the emotional hollowness of Life, after the wonderful emotional rollercoaster of Tenenbaums, the characters in Life just seem so much more flat, and hard to get really involved in. There were still parts that touched the same level as Tenenbaums (namely the sub bit at the end, although I have a sneaking suspicion that the Sigur Ros song had something to do with what I was feeling during that scene :) ), but I found it lacking overall. Still, even with those problems, I thought it was a good film, with some of the great stylistic touches that made Tenenbaums so endearing, and a great Bowie soundtrack. Definitely worth checking out if you're interested, I recommend it, just don't expect it to be as good as Anderson's past work.

Damn, that ended up being longer than I expected, maybe it's time I got my own movie blog.

Damn, this has been getting some good reviews from you CAGs. I'll have to check it out when it hits DVD because I'm po'. :p And I fucking adore Kelly MacDonald. In fact, a friend of mine runs a fansite devoted to her.

Real Genius

"If there's anything I can do for you... or more importantly, to you, please, you let me know."

"Can you hammer a 6 inch spike with your penis?"

"Not yet"

"A girl's gotta have some standards..."

Classic Dialogue

Wedding Crashers - much more substance than I expected. I was thinking it would be the next mindless comedy ala Old School, etc., but it wasn't quite like that. Plus, you get some nice Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman boobies.

The Incredibles - just as good, if not better, the second time around.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I was enthralled by it, then with about 7 minutes to go, the reel went off the screen and we only saw the bottom half of everything during the climax. great movie, horrible theatre.
