Classic...
Yes I am a CLASSIC and you should respect me as that.

Wait... your refering to that shitty Stallone film, right?

"Forever Hardcore." Great documentry on the rise and fall of ECW from the people that WWE didn't get on "The Rise And Fall Of ECW." Well worth buying just to fill in the gaps - its nice being able to hear Shane Douglas's side of the whole infamous incident of him throwing down the NWA World Title belt (yeah that same one that Raven is now wearing lol).

Oh, and I must say that the Chris Candido tribute is damn funny yet touching. Its some behind the scenes footage of him helping out Jeremy Borash doing a taping of TNA Xplosion when he was doing the whole "injury" angle in the wheel chair. Really nice of TNA to allow this to be included on the DVD.

Best extra however is the word association with Joey Styles. You'll just have to see it for yourself.... :applause:

I'm totally stuck on the "...of the dead" movies lately - my DVDs have been working overtime! THis week I watched Shaun..., Night..., Day..., Dawn..., and Dawn (2004)...

I also saw Die ANother Day, which has to be one of the lamest JB movies ever...

And last night my wife and I watched Old School again. Can't get enough of that one, especially the pool/dart scene.

Charlie & the Chocolate Factory

Great movie. Depp is awesome, as usual. However, I still think that his best performance is from "Fear & Loathing." (Also, it changed my opinion of Benicio del Toro. He was good in that movie.) It had such an impact on me that I now think of his roles as performed like Hunter S. Thompson. Makes for some weird thinking...

As Willy Wonka:

"I'm closing this fucking factory down! Because of you fucking spy pigs! You're the same people that voted for Hubert Humphrey... and you killed Jesus!"

Charlie was a terrible movie and Depp is normally a great actor. he was way to whiny in this flick and it just was a crappy movie with the exception of visuals.

In theaters: Howl's Moving Castle

On dvd: Cutey Honey live action movie

demomanTNA- where did you get "Forever Hardcore" from? I've heard about it and have been wanting to watch it cause I heard it was almost better then the Rise and Fall of ECW (which was a great dvdset). I need to pick up One Night Stand on dvd here in a couple fo weeks, once I"m able to drive again and all.

I've seen a whole slew of films recently, especially when my internet was down and with my other dilemmas. I'll start off with War of the Worlds for this post and slowly post the others today.

War of the Worlds - Excellent film. I truly enjoyed it. Spielberg shows his directing capabilities in this film, though the ending was very cheesy and did not suit the overall film. I felt that the film should have been darker, but I enjoyed the direction that Spielberg took with it. Best adaptation of the original story IMO. the visual presentation of this film is second to none. It truly amazed me. I was really enjoying the scenes with Tripods and their destruction of Eart and wish that they had more screen time. To me, there was this overall feeling that there was something wrong with the overall pacing of the film. It felt like it would slow down, speed up, and so on and so forth. I felt that the majority of the actors in the film acted wonderfully, especially Dakota Fanning, who for some reason I can never stand the movies that she is in. I can only compare her to my fealing of Jack Black and how I dislike him and his movies. I just don't really like her as an actress and I don't know what it is, but in this film she was bearable. Tom Cruise was great as usual. The only actor that I had any cripe about was the actor who playeed Tom Cruise's son in the movie. He was absolutely terrible and the character truly wasn't needed. He was just an idiot that ended up ruining the ending to an overall good movie. I would give this movie an 8/10.

Brief Encounter

A fantastic romantic drama from David Lean. I thought everything about it was excellent, but I'd like to give special recognition to the lead performances, especially Celia Johnson's, which was outstanding. Highly recommended.

Equilibrium - Best movie you've never seen nor heard of. I don't care what you must do, but go rent, buy, or like I said, do what you must to get this movie. It's the meaning of awesome. Incredible effects with some of the best actions sequences I've ever seen. Even better than the Matrix's scenes and definitely better than its story, at least the last two. It's like a sci-fi cross between 1984/Brave New World and an action movie. Christian Bale again proves that he's an excellent actor. He's quickly becoming my favorite actor in Hollywood now. The pacing of the movie is also well done. Very thought out. You must go and find and see this movie.

The Jacket - Eh...didn't like this movie much. Adrien Brody and Keira Knightly aren't bad and seem to have a good on-screen presence/chemistry, but the plot was pretty weak and thin. I felt quite bored while I was watching it. It was very similiar to Jacob's Ladder, which I would recommend over this movie.

The first word that comes to mind is 'awesome'.
For a second I thought that said Point Break.
Equilibrium
I saw it the week it released in theaters.

The Machinist - Amazing psychological thriller. Had me on the edge of my seat for the multitude of it. Again, I must commend Bale on his acting and his portrayal of the character. He really worked for this role and made the protagonists very gristly and sickening. I wonder how many pounds he lost. Funny thing is is that right after this role, he took on Batman which he looks ultra buff and huge in. This movie will keep you guessing from beginning to end.

You must have been one of the few since the movie only made a $1.1 million dollars, which if marketed right and released during the summer season, I could have seen it going on to make at least $50 million if not more. Really, I don't know how this one went under my radar at the time. I don't even remember seeing it theatres anywhere here. I've borrowed my friend's copy a couple times and only recently bought a copy for myself. Like I said, people need to see this movie.

SPOILERS?***********

Actually I thought The Machinist was different from most "psychological thrillers" in the way that it made it completely obvious that he was batshit insane thoughout the whole film.

Yes I agree, but it did have me fooled on the first watch with the Ivan character. I was pretty sure that he was made up and in his mind apart of some multiple personality disorder he had, but I wasn't really sure. Even though I thought he was crazy through out, I didn't think that Maria and Nicholas were made up until the end.

Equilibrium is awesome. I make sure to watch it every so often. I think in a lot of respects it bests the Matrix.

Wasabi was my last, with Dark Star in the player now.

The Day After Tomorrow - 1.5/5

A good movie to watch after you wake up from a concussion.

Million Dollar Baby - 4/5

A great movie (production values, acting, mood...) but over all it was dull. MDB seems like Clint Eastwood read "How to make an Oscar winner for dummies" and used every single step. Great movie but it was uninspired almost to the point it became dull, IMHO. This will be forgotten soon just like most other recent Oscar flicks. Not a bad flick but MDB is tired & trite.

Scarface

"I kill a communist for fun, but for a green card, I gonna carve him up real nice."

"All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break them for no one."

"Me, I want what's coming to me."
"Oh, well what's coming to you?"
"The world, Chico, and everything in it."

"You know what capitalism is? Getting fucked!"

"Who put this thing together? Me, that's who! Who do I trust? Me!"

"You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." So... what that make you? Good?"

"I told you, man! I told you, don't fuck with me! I told you, no fuckin' kids! No, but you wouldn't listen! Well, you stupid fuck! Look at you now."

"Say hello to my little friend!"

Make way for the bad guy!

I was hoping you were watching Hawks' version miraculously, but when you were away for over 2 hours, my hopes were crushed. :(

The Shop Around the Corner

A great, enjoyable comedy. It was darker than I would have expected in the middle, and much of the movie was pleasantly subtle and sophisticated. My biggest problem was having it set in Hungary. It was apparently adapted from a Hungarian play, but it could have just as easily been set in most any American city, giving everyone Hungarian names and calling the money by a different name just seemed stupid.

Hide and Seek - Eh...not bad. Decent 6/10. Nice little plot twist there at the end, though predictable. Mostly boring but Robert Deniro is great. I'd call this one definitely a rental.
