It's Bigger than "The Hip-Hop Thread"
That's what I did and how I felt. I was so disappointed.
I don't follow hip hop enough to be all into the hype, but having heard enough noise about it, I decided to check it out within the last couple of days. Lots of good production, I like the soul bits they throw in once in awhile where they're all harmonizing, makes for a nice touch. With all of the skits in the middle with two of the weaker tracks mixed within them, it does feel as though a chunk of the album is missing. However, it does start and end with a good batch of songs respectively.

A couple I could do without, but I liked it for the most part.

EDIT: Regarding Slaughterhouse.

OB4CL2 is the best Wu solo album since Supreme Clientele. I been going back and forth between that BP3. BP3 is starting to grow on me. Its a number of dope songs but it is more Kingdom Come than American Gangster.

I wonder if it's better than Red and Meth's Blackout! 2.

And as for Blueprint 3, I think it's too early for people to start jumping on how they feel about it. I can never listen to an album once and form an opinion on it.

I would say it's better than BO2 but BO2 was pretty good. I like the fact that the WU is hungry again and has a sense of urgency about them the there albums lately. Something that was missing on 8 Diagrams.

I never listened to 8 Diagrams but Ghostface and Raekwon criticized RZA's production on it. They said they will go with their own feelings on the next Wu release instead of taking so much input from RZA.

I agree BO2 was really good but OB4CL2 is better. The bad thing is now i have really high expectations for the Ghost\Rae\Meth Album

Seriously. You know shit is looking good when U-God puts out a solid album, everything since seems to follow suit.

 So true! Dopium had some good cuts on it.

I would say Dopium is strong throughout cept for Rims Poking Out and some other song... The 3 remixes are awful. but I don't even count them.

Yeah, Rims Pokin Out and Hips. I actually can dig the remixes, but I don't really consider them part of the album either. The remix of Hips is actually better!

I just realized that Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3 (bought it for the price) is my first album from him since Reasonable Doubt. I guess back then I was all about underground/independent hip-hop (still am) and probably missed a lot of good (commercial/radio) records. I try not to be that way now and want to listen to what the artist is trying to put out. Here are the others I have picked up recently:
Raekwon - OBFCLII (Kiss The Ring, can't get that song out of my head)
Tame One - Acid Tab Vocab
Muneshine - Status Symbol

Listened to the first half of Survival Skills on the way home today. KRS is a bit of the weak link, but between Buckshot, the beats, and the guests, it's been rather enjoyable. Best Buy did do their best to hide the few copies they had of it from me.

I heard Robot and was like omg KRS shutup this album is gonna suck so bad... lol

I recently picked that album up too off emusic, along with new Grand Puba and MOP!!!

so far Im a couple tracks into new MOP. it's pretty good, but they sound like theyre becoming soft lol. doods getting old!!
along with new Grand Puba
that album broke my heart. For years I've been waiting for Puba to release another album and when he does, it fucking blows. Only high spot is even though Get It is a horrible song, there are some great remixes of it that Scion released
I dont know if anyone cares but Slaughterhouse is in talks to sign with Shady Records
I care! Sounds good to me if it means more records from them.

Also, anyone else listen to the new Ghostface? It's got at least a handful of dope songs.

Yeap yeap.

The auto-tune tracks are fucking awful. And I'm not saying that on some "oh I'm a backpacker purist" shit. It just sounds really bad on this record.

But like I said there is a good stream of funny/good storytelling joints on it.

I enjoyed the album pretty much, I'll be picking it up at some point.

I just found out about that album yesterday, Ima definitely check it out. Del also released another digital album last month also, but I dont think it's free... it's one of those albums u donate to obtain.

I also still gotta check out the new Warren G album!!!

most of the stuff I have been listening to recently, new Soul Assassins, Grand Puba, MOP, Tash, Cunninlinguists, Buckshot & KRS,

theyve all been good but not great.... so Im jus not feeling the hype rite now...

MOP was cool but rushed... I hear the Primo track on it wasn't even mastered.. the cuts and scratches were left off... lol

Im up to date!!! I think... lol.

started listening to STREET HOP this morning. The first track is like Din Daa Daa 2009, I wanna go to a bboy jam with the speakers bumping Royce 5 9 going BRAP B B B BRAP BRAP BRAP B B BRAP

new Camp Lo and Killah Priest out last week too! becoz both these artists obviously did not release records earlier this year lol. but not that anyone even noticed...

already listened to Camp Lo. It's real good, compared to how much Stone n Rob sucked it's almost aoty... but honestly it's a solid record, definitely check it out if u like listening to Camp Lo rap about nonsense Im sure even they dont understand.

listened to new Del - Automatik Statik. It's better than Funk Man which is good, but it's also more of the same which is :/ again, Del with the two albums in a year... 3 if u count the Tame One album

I really hope you guys check out Diamond District's In The Ruff. It's easily one of 2009's best albums, no joke. It's a trio of DMV's finest in Oddisee, yU, and X.O.

look what actually came out today!!

if shimmi still had his old sig, I would show you the face of a happy man.

I really enjoyed the latest Grand Puba album, particularly coz I listen to all Brand Nubian stuff and tend not to have very high expectations of them anymore,

but bubble man hated it, so I went back and listened to his favorite album Reel 2 Reel.

dang that album isnt even a fair comparison lol... it beasts all over Retroactive

hell yeah, Reel 2 Reel is one of THE greatest hip hop albums of all time.

If you actually like the piece of crap that is Retroactive, make sure you check out the Get It remix single that Scion released. Those 4 remixes completely destroy everything that is actually on the album
