I still like the overall design in MGS1 over the later 2 in the series (MGS4 had/has great style).

Yes it was silly that in order to talk they bobbled their heads, but I liked how everyone looked more like their concept art and had those damn cool shady eyes.
I agree. That was a component of me giving up on 2, I just really didn't like the look of it. It had a very sterile quality to it and thus lost a lot of the charm that the PS1 title had. Everything was shiny and round. That was the rare game that PS1/N64/Saturn era graphics were actually put to good use.
Anway, I've just been putting some more hours into P3 FES. I'm at the point where I can choose which of the main girls I want to persue, and I'm leaning towards Mitsuru. Any suggestions?
You're allowed to start dating Mitsuru long after the rest of the girls. You should get on that.
The GGT turned into hardcore pornography so slowly, I didn't even notice.
You're thinking of the GGT of the future.

Yea it sucks. A lot of my friends are looking for jobs. I'm trying to help them out. But it's slim pickins nowadays...

Sucks. Esp in any technological based industry...

I agree. Like retro 8-bit gaming looks is still cool, I think eventually early 3D graphics will hit that stride eventually. I love the jaggies in alot of older titles. Part of the reason why I like the current portables is because they still retain jaggies and low pollys.

In terms of work, I will say it's nice to be currently self employed. Yes, the paychecks are never regular, but work is never boring since it's always something new. I will have a steady job at the designer toy company, Friends With You, this september guaranteed so it's something I look forward to in terms of experience.

Job wise for myself isn't too bad.

Fixing to get a raise since I'll be second in command at work and I get $$ for every console I fix.
Does it work on old DS'?
Yes.

And Top Spin 3 sucks. Returning it tomorrow. I don't like the new control scheme at all.

Dang, was hopping it was good. Oh well, another game I don't have to add to my backlog.

You sir have good taste. However you can't starting dating her until sometime in November... I'd say your best bet at this point of the game is to date either the team manger or the Student Council treasurer and get them out of the way.
Ninjas are overated. Pirates hump goats. Zombies are dumbasses.

I'll seriously be happy when people start to agree.
I agree.

on topic- ninja gaiden 2 = welp, looks done to me...wait, add more ninjas to every fight...okay, now lets get our lawsuit on.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma on very hard = bliss.
everyone is psychic.
THANK YOU! I'm playing it for the first time and I was wondering where there eyes went...makes sense :D
Does that mean nobody is psychic in the other games?;)

MGS2 = Everyone is Plastic

MGS3 = Everyone has Great Abs

MGS4 = Everyone but
Big Boss and the
Snake Clones dosn't smoke

lulz my PS3 80GB MGS4 bundle sold on amazon for $650. I decided it was a $500 PS2 upscaler after finishing MGS4. (which I was a bit underwhelmed by)

Suckers! And MGS4 was more of an 8 than a 10. Believe it. Back to having one HD console, like a normal person who hasn't won the lottery.

Didn't you leave?

I'll never leave, as long as I can talk some sense into this thread of japanophilia and fail.

I'll definetly be getting it when I get back on live. because it stupidly requires gold for you to download the beta..

I mean honestly, guys. We need to have a spoileriffic MGS4 thread to talk about just how bad the ending is. It's bad enough that it made me feel regretful for buying a PS3. The "nostalgia" stuff was sickeningly overdone and ruined the atmosphere of the whole thing, the movie sections drag on too long and too often cut off fun gameplay sections before they're fully explored, and the one poorly done gameplay section of the game (Beginning of Chapter 3) lasts WAY too long.

A fun game, but the story is nothing but laughably bad, and the game is not worth buying a PS3 for. 8/B+ would be my score if I was scoring things.

something tells me jer kills fun by replacing it with being too critical. there are times when you need to let go of the details. you can just say you don't like it. not everything needs a reason.

Resistance was a bit meh, I felt no urge to play more than the demo allowed, so being eager for the sequel is something reserved for a sony fanboy, which I am not. The same goes for Uncharted, which I had high hopes for but really felt quite yawn-worthy by the time I was through with it's demo. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is the same as Black with worse menus and controls- Killzone 1 sucked, and FFXIII isn't coming out for another 10 years, the way things are going.

The PS3 is over a month and a half of rent, plus I'm making money by selling it now. Why anyone wouldn't in my situation, I don't understand.

Hello, Ninja Gaiden 2 and Team Fortress 2, I've missed thee.

Being present and thinking about the things you're playing isn't killing fun. I just can't shut my brain off to things like
Psycho mantis' PS1 Memory Card flashback
destroying any sense of immersion into the game's world. I don't enjoy that. MGS4 was way too self-referential and seemed completely fake and completely without consequence.
Big Boss coming back to explain everything didnt' make any sense either, neither did raiden being put back together like humpty dumpty or some crap. The story would have ended on an appropriate and somber tone if Snake really had shot himself in the cemetary and FoxDie was a real threat. Instead, it's just another hollow element to the story that gets explained away briefly and forgotten.

every metal gear game is self-referential, and the series never had consequences.

its like complaining that you have to drive in a racing game.

your first statement in spoiler I totally agree with. that part felt entirely out of place. it's timing was too off to be a wink or a nod to fans IMHO.

as for what you mentioned in the second, I think they both happened entirely for closure of the plot. I think it was necessary. If it didn't happen at that point of the game, it would of happened at another point. MGS4 was meant as closure (ask the devs) to the plot and it did it.

You know, I'm not trying to convert anybody, I'm just looking for some intelligent responses beyond "Oh god I don't even want to hear it" and "go play your shooter games then".

I can understand wanting to resolve things and provide closure, but a little ambiguity might have done them good, or spreading that info around the other 12 hours of cutscenes instead of doing nearly all of it at the end. But that's just how I would have written it.

You know, I REALLY enjoyed
The idea of FoxDie turning into this unintentional biological weapon and Snake needing to sacrifice himself for the sake of everyone else, just like The Boss. That parallel would have been a great ending to Snake's story, in my opinion. I was dissapointed that it didn't end like that. Also, did any of the games other than portable ops really hint at Zero, Para-Medic, and Sigint starting the patriots? Really? That seemed more than a little contrived.

Exactly. You bought a PS3 for a Metal Gear game, then complained it was a Metal Gear game...

I don't want to hear it, go play your shooter games.

Though I do agree about the ending.
Was a bit too happy.

I agree with the last spoiler.
Too Hollywood-happy ending for my tastes. Kojima bitched out like Bungie did with Halo 3.

MGS4 story was a bit you know. It obviously wasn't the best (if you think it is, that is your opinion)... but what I loved about the game. It made me appreciate the series more... As it should have. ;)

I went crazy at a local TRU and bought more than I wanted to when I first walked in.

All I wanted to do was look for Beatmania for a friend!

except it worked with the ending in MGS4 where Halo 3 just t-bagged itself to chimpanzee nut cake

back on not-topic:

some work I did today... primarily all flat, which was intended...

I promised myself from now on I have to every day at least make 1 art piece. it's so I become more disciplined and expansive in my work.

I'm tempted to do a MGS4 peice...

got some $10-$5 clearance titles?

Although I can't personally comment one way or the other regarding MGS4 since I have not played it , I kinda have to side with jer. Theres nothing wrong with being critical of something if your looking to derive entertainment out of it. How is that any different from being critical and picking apart a movie your watching? On one hand you have those who feel picking about the details ruins the movie experience , while others feels it enhances it , or in the case of movies and games where major flaws are found , then it takes away from the experience.

Generally the more or less detailed something is , the more being critical of it will either hurt or help the experience. As is the case of things such as Star Wars and the Matrix for movies , and lets say MGS and FFVII for games.

I may not agree with his taste in games (not actually saying I do though) and he may not agree with mine (givin that I am a fan of "japanophiallia" as he so bluntly put it) but he has the right the be critical of the game and in turn choose not to like it.

However if the comments being made in the spoilers make any difference in the whole conversation , then feel free to find my comments null and void , as I have not been reading the spoilers of course.:dunce:

ending ties it up. it shows how snake is just an extension of the player, and the patriots are just an extension of the game designers and how you are just a tool of kojima.

There are three must have exclusive games on the PS3 past, present, and future. Only one of them is out right now. LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Final Fantasy XIII.

In terms of exclusives must have games, 360 has Halo 3, Gears, Gears 2, and Left 4 Dead. Plus all my sports games (FIFA, Madden, NBA, NHL) and CoD4 with smoother performance, better online service, and all my friends have 360. Along with the sports games, I buy all multi-platform games for 360, which ends up being most of my collection.

If they developed the 360 where the RRoD was never an issue, the disc drive didn't sound like a jet engine, there was HDMI from the get go so I'm not stuck now with VGA, and by some fraction of a chance Xbox Live was made free Xbox 360 would have wiped the floor with the PS3 and possibly the Wii this gen.

They should announce a slim line Blu-ray external drive for the 360 at E3 and then I can finally sell my PS3.

Cite examples for your assertions. I find this an interesting concept, but I'm also pretty sure you just read it somewhere else or heard it on a podcast and are uttering things to support your belief that kojima is more than making it up as he goes along.

Halo 3's ending was pretty dumb, but so is about everything about the story since the first one. At least they hinted at ties to marathon..

That's how I usually feel regarding video game reviews.

Can definitely make a case for that with MGS2 and Raiden. In fact I'm pretty sure that's what Kojima was getting at with that game.

But MGS4? No, doesn't fit there.

the whole concept with snake and the patriots always works. snake is constantly a tool of the patriots. his whole reason for life is to be used by zero, and the patriots, against big boss.

I got SC: Double Agent today. It's no MG, bS4ut it's entertaining so far.

Also ordered Space Invaders Extreme off Amazon. Can't wait to get it.
