It's the "Post the Worst & Most Disappointing Games of '09" Thread!

I didn't play enough games from this year, my backlog is older than that. And I can't say that I play too many disappointing games. Luckily I have good sense when shopping.

I just wanted to say they killed the RE series with part 4. It's not RE, it's just an action FPS. While I completed the game I didn't like it and stayed away from 5. After reading the thread I made the right decision. Whoever says part 4 was good is a looney.

Steal Princess.

omg this game was awful... it looked cool as hell tho and I am into the whole puzzle/action/platformer mashup with games like Crush, Exit, PQ, etc.

but then the game jus had the worst controls ever and ruined everything
Worst:
1. Muramasa - This game was a preliminary contender for Wii GotY for me. But in the end, it was just a beautiful game with nothing but repetitive and stale gameplay. More importantly, I can't fathom how much better this game would look on the 360/PS3.
Jesus fucking christ THANK YOU. I'm so glad I'm not the only person who thought this way about Muramasa. I really thought I was the only one.

Also, in the OP I forgot about a game that was possibly even WORSE than all the ones I listed: House of the Dead: Overkill. What a fucking piece of shit, even for $12.99. Can't believe it got good reviews. It wasn't even fun playing co-op; the game was too easy, the level design was shit, and they tried way too hard to be funny. I'll stick with UC for my Wii rail shooter jollies.

I don't know, I thought 4 still retained the soul of the series despite having completely revamped gameplay. 5 not only did not retain any of that, it also pissed all over it.

I agree completely... I loved the art style of Steal Princess and I'm also a HUGE fan of Alundra which they also developed but ya it just wasn't fun.

Also:

Worst Game: Cross-Edge (PS3) - This is the first game in years that I've actually traded back in, basically it was so un-fun that I knew I never wanted to touch it ever again. Like everything about the game was bad, the voice acting, the menus, the fact there were hardly any tutorials, and then to top it off the dungeons sucked. I used the credit from trading this game in to get Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP) which I actually enjoyed and sunk a ton of hours into.

Most Disappointing: Persona (PSP) - Don't get me wrong this game is solid, but after playing Persona 2 which is very similar but in my opinion really improved on Persona and also Persona 3 and 4 which are amazing games I just couldn't get into Persona because the plot felt immensely boring in comparison to the later games in the series and the random encounters seemed too high.

I loved RE5 solo and I think all you people are crazy. But then I didn't like any RE before 4.

MadWorld was just insulting on every level, and I'm about as juvenile as you can get.

Dead Space Extraction was a big disappointment, but maybe just because I loved the original so much. What I really don't get are the reviews and people saying it had the best Wii graphics so far, because I thought it looked pretty awful. And I don't mean just awful for a Wii game.

Here, let me give you an ACTUAL reason to hate Persona PSP

Disappointing:
Tekken 6: All that damn loading and that awful scenario campaign. Gameplay was great but it felt like I had to wait a minute before and after each fight.

RE5: Would have been better if they did away with the co-op. It's hard going back to it knowing you have to deal with the terrible AI. Controls need a serious update.

L4D2: Might be alone on this one. Even when I get a good party going it still wasn't as exciting as the first game. Levels are too big and not a big fan of the new characters.

Crap:
Killzone 2 - Just not fun. Didn't like the online either.

Beatles Rock Band was incredibly disappointing. The songs are just not fun to play. I'll take Guitar Hero Metallica over it any day of the week.

Most disappointing game of 09 has to be Modern Warfare 2. Cod4 was so good, excellent single & multi. MW2 was so hyped up and then came all the crap.

Single player was decent at most, way to short and way to hectic at times, specially rio. Not to mention MP that just didnt deliver imo .
Like someone said it was supposed to be like the 2nd coming of jesus.... should have known that religion always fails :/

I don't get the difference between WORST and MOST DISAPPOINTING. Wouldn't the "worst" games of 2009 just be the lowest reviewed games?

Most Disappointing:
Resident Evil 5: Like most people said. It was suppose to be an epic experience topping even RE4, but I could not even play for more than an hour. It is just... boring.
----------
Modern Warfare 2: I like playing online (for the most part...) and the Spec Ops missions were fun (for one playthrough...). But the horrible single player and buggy exploitable multiplayer really ruined it. Plus, I don't like ANY of the MP Maps.
----------
Killzone 2: I like the game. I really do. But, I'm just disappointed that I did not stick with it as long as I thought I would. I don't know what it is - but I just couldnt stick with it.
----------
The first hour of AC2: I was freaking out that my most ANTICIPATED game was complete crap. Then I got to the rest of it, and it is one of my favorite games of all time. Phew!
----------
Brutal Legends: I had high hopes for this one. And I didn't even get it: the demo + the talk around it made it reason enough to not buy it. Sad.

I don't know about you, but I don't make it a habit of playing bad games. So while something like Damnation may have been one of the worst games of last year, I didn't play it because it looked like shit. Therefore the worst games I played in 09 might not be the lowest reviewed games. For example, I hate FPS games. So Modern Warfare 2 was one of the worst games I played last year. I think it was worse than RE5, but RE5 was far more disappointing because I expected it to be good.

See?

Uh, sort of. But, I think the worst game you actually played would be your most disappointing game. Because you said, "I didn't play it because it looked like shit" so you would only play games that you thought looked good. But, if it turns out to be the worst game you played THIS year then it would be your most disappointing, because you played it thinking it might be good.

And the thread is "Post THE worst - games of '09" meaning the game that is actually the WORST (which would technically be the lowest reviewed game). *shrug* Maybe if it said, "Post the worst game you played in 2009" if that is what he meant, then that would make more sense. I'm just being difficult I guess.
