The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

Unless you have CRT's that support RGB... Because that's still a superior image quality. My PVM has better image quality than the framemeister puts out, and I'm not just being anti-upscaler. I have both a XRGB3 and a framemeister, neither one really touches the PVM, though they're infinitely better than non-RGB CRT's for sure.
That's true. But I'd gladly make that incremental trade in image quality in return for the incremental gain in image size, since I doubt they ever produced a 70" PVM.

Oh, for sure. At one point I had a 36" Sony PVM. It weighed 400lbs. I sold it to a local arcade and never looked back. I've got a 25" on my desk, and the framemeister setup on the LED in the living room.

I think it's cause the CVs are often stars. There's a huge difference in advertisement between Japan and the US too. Japanese commercials are basically walls of text being read by a star.

and its also your responsibility to adhere to the laws of the country you live in whether you find them agreeable or not.
I don't even wanna get into this, but the content being censored is not illegal. Unless you're in germany or australia or something. Let's face it, pornography, hentai, vns, and erotica are not illegal in the US. The games often discussed here are a little ecchi at the most. The reason these games are being censored is because of pressure from the esrb and companies wanting to get their products on the shelves of walmart, gamestop and other big store brands to sell.

Time to wish for the other plus games to go on sale. C'mon TK, don't let me down.

I bought the LE of Stein;Gate for PC, but I wouldn't mind getting it again for Vita. Seeing the pic posted above, the game looks like it is coming along well. Hopefully it comes out soon.

I am thinking of biting the bullet. What I would give for Plus Collection on PSV or PS4...

Why do JRPG's always have the worst trailers? The kinds where it shows a character and their voice actor saying a line and then the next character and in the whole trailer there's maybe 2 seconds of gameplay hidden in somewhere?
Time and Eternity had much better trailers!

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen for $14. Yay or Nay? A bit on the fence about getting it since a new one is coming out :|
New one may be nothing like it. It's a great buy for 14, but you may be able to find a physical copy for 20 if you look around.

I'm gonna put all my faith in this thread to give me the most up to date info.

Do we know time it's supposed to come up? And where are they selling it this time?

Good, that they let the store open for us to make our accounts and everything to get ready for the craziness lol. Im just wondering how they are handling multiple orders.

I just realized I never got around to opening my Rebirth 1 LE lol....not sure if I even want to now.

Also that leak seems fishy given the images already shown of the N3DS launch date

Sony is having a sale today to celebrate Playstation Anniversary.

Here's a few. There are many more.

DanganRonpa - $19.99

Disgaea 4 -$19.99

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/01/13/playstation-anniversary-sale-starts-today-60-games-discounted/
Persona 4 Golden, P3P, and many other Vita-compatible PSP digital games (including the top mainstream PS1 classic JRPG's) are also included in this sale. Don't fall for the trap of FF Dissidia 1, that game's story is included in Dissidia 2 once you beat the Dissidia 2 story.

Also beware that physical copies on Danganronpa 1 are OoP now and are skyrocketing on Amazon and EBay so this will likely be the cheapest you can get that game until it's next digital sale.

true but how often and closely they follow said source material varies. Look no further than the crap that was soul eater and blue exorcist >.>
I think those two were both great in their anime or manga incarnations. Kinda like how fma & brotherhood were both good imo

True most anime is based off manga, but does it mean it'll be the the manga's plot to a 't'? Not always. Most recent example is Tokyo Ghoul Route A. They're going off on a tangent either because they want to milk the series and not compete with the manga, or they realized they can't do the manga justice (I personally think it's a combo of both). Honestly, Tokyo Ghoul's animation is shit and I highly recommend you JUST read the manga.

fma was actually decent for the most part despite not following the manga. outside the plot hole involving wrath envy and gluttony anyway. The only issues I have with brotherhood were some characters got less screen time with lust and the fuhrer being completely different between the 2 and preferring some of the new characters but missing the old. fma lust was an amazing character and her character in brotherhood is a shallow mess of what her fma counterparts was. I was majorly disappointed on that front. The fuhrer was amazing in brotherhood though. Also feels like hughs armstrong and the teacher all got limited screen time for brotherhood in comparison to the original outside minor stuff at the end.

That and I much prefer fma's movie ending vs brotherhoods ending.

soul eater and blue exorcist went off canon shortly after coming out due to running out of materia, were then rushed and ended quickly with complete nonsenical endings. Not like it matters in soul eaters case as the manga ended unfinished anyway.

part of could be censorship too considering even japan has limits and things they aren't comfortable with like xenosaga.

Good luck to everyone who wants in on the Rebirth 2 LE tomorrow.

I just gotta make a few points though.

After the fiasco of the first one, everyone who either got it or missed out will be trying to get in this time. Also, having it so close to the release date and not giving out the price yet, it seems like they are not giving much room to those who mull over whether to buy it or not due to the price. They changed the time it is available for buying drastically this time too, making it much more accessible, possibly just due to a screw up the first time. They are also not giving out an exact number of copies, for all we know they have much, much more this time but everyone is still shook up after the last one. I might be overthinking it but it seems like everything is lined up for this game to sell well just on hype itself. Regardless I'll be watching this one closely, and if it sells out again, it just paves way for the future collectors editions.

Will this be worth money???

well yeah maes hughs event happens in the first episode in brotherhood whereas in fma the entire first half story arcs with his event.

Both series are fantastic.  I understand why people love brotherhood. But I guess I prefer the Americanized FMA version a bit more.  It felt like there were too many (periphery) main characters in brotherhood. Esp with the two chinese protagonists shoehorned in, they felt a little out of place. and yeah, Lust was an amazing character.  The Hohenheim in brotherhood seemed off as well, but I can't remember what it was.  irrc he wasn't much of a good guy.

and you're right, there was very little major armstrong or teacher izumi in brotherhood.  the major's sister was cool.  the crimson alchemist was kind of lame.  it was just weird how so many of the protagonists that were fleshed out in FMA were just given a passing thought in Brotherhood.

I'm sure people who watched the series in the other order have different feelings.

Wouldn't you like to know!

I'll see you guys at the sale tomorrow when we're all buying the CE for more than it'll be worth. wdyt, 4k or 5k copies this time?

This is going to be one of those sales where everyone rushes out to go buy it and more than half of the buyers immediately list it for sale, the market crashes, and sellers undercut each other until hundreds of them are selling for MSRP + fees. No one makes any money selling their copies and any fan who waits to buy their own will have to pay the aftermarket premium only because it sold out to speculators and flippers. That's my guess. We shall see.

In any case, the LE1 thing won't be happening again.

Let me get this right. They have not stated the price and or even created a store front to pre-order Re;Birth 2 LE at the moment correct? Re;Birth 1 LE was sold from them on Amazon are they not doing the same thing this time? I ended up getting Re;Birth 1 LE but I had to wake up at 2:50 AM just to order it.

They are creating their own store on their own website and selling Re;Birth 2 LE on it correct? How do they not think this is a bad idea? They should create the store and make it go live before announcing Re;Birth 2 LE. What if the store has problems, which it is definitely going to. Then we have to hurry to put our shipping and payment information in and the people that are faster than others will have that finished and checked out leaving those that fumble with presser lose time and lose the LE.

Someone needs to sit this company down and talk to them about business management, or at least something.
