Killzone 2 - Gen. Discussion & Info
Don't worry Rolento, I rack up 40+ deaths per match but always end up in the top three in any match I play :p
same here... I'm always in the top 5, usually sitting at #2 or #1.

death is less of an issue here.

I'm going to be entirely honest in saying this is the first FPS i've ever played where the online component is actually fun and makes me want to keep coming back. CoD4, CodWoW, Halo (any), and all other FPSs have failed at it... not that they are bad.

small rant...

finally got my repair gun.....i love it, i was on corinth crossing and you know how theres 2 gun placement on each side well i would repair both....it seems that people don't realize that you can blow them up so they can repair and use it.. i try and nullify all there ammo cache and gun placement so they dont use any.

a tip that i would give in getting the repair gun is to put down more than one turret in a good corner and cover the area well
 I'm good at dying.

Someone can be a great player in any FPS but die alot. I'm not great, but I die alot.
Yea, also this game isn't all about TDM. So somebody can have a 3.0 K/D ratio and may not be helping their team at all since they're just sniping and killiing instead of going after objective.

I'm really starting to hate the Search & Destroy points being so close together, especially on some maps, in which case I've never seen them destroyed.
I'm really starting to hate the Search & Destroy points being so close together, especially on some maps, in which case I've never seen them destroyed.
Visari Hammer has the best S&D points because they're always a good deal apart. The rest of the maps it just becomes a explosion traffic jam.

I have to side with Rolento on the usefulness of Turrets. I've faced death from his many a time (Bloody headshots) and used them to great avail myself. It's all about the placement.

The airbots though, ah, I get like 4 kills max each round I use them, 1 short of a ribbon. They're odd. I don't think they need a boost, but something needs tweaking about them.
They could actually have them shoot people, too.

I kill one every time I see one and it doesn't even shoot at me.
they do turn and face you sometimes though when you start shooting them, but by the the time they start shooting you they are dead already...

maybe they just need longer life spans or better health?
Turrets are decent, but my biggest gripe is the limit of four for a team. That's why I don't even bother with the Engineer class anymore. Everytime I get into a game, the limit has been maxed already.
This is why I keep my eye out for other people's stupidly place turrets and I blow them up so it frees a slot. And I got my first engineer ribbon yesterday. All it took was a mission game that lasted for like 40 minutes.

I am playing through this right now and it is pretty fun. Way less gripes than I thought I would have. Just a few things:

-Why is Sev so fucking short? I walk up to people and am at the most shoulder height. WTF?

-Why do the characters keep blocking my way? We have a whole hallway and I am getting my ass shot off and this moron is standing right in the middle and I can't get around him. I usually resort to shooting him a few times and he freaks out and I get around.

-I can't get the sensitivity on the controller right. Nothing feels perfect for me. I love the alternate 2 scheme but wish I could use that scheme and swap crouch and melee. I don't know....I am just not a fan of the PS3/PS2 analogue sticks in general.

All in all this game is pretty badass and I am playing it on a 65" 1080p tv which is (I have to admit) amazing with this game.

I thought this too, its kind of annoying, but I never notice it. To rationalize it, if you look at their guns, they are at the same height. I think its more a case of Killzone 2 got the height perfect and all other games make your character taller.

the perspective never bothered me, felt more like I was holding a gun than having a gun pinned to my head.
Got my 2nd turret ribbon today. Maybe I can get this thing after all .. in like a month.
I got it in a day. just learn to place ur turrets in better places, that's all it is really.

I got 4 or 5 torrent ribbons within a day. I probably would have got the repair ability yesterday. But I did pretty shitty at during the CAG night game...

For the turret ribbons I got most in pistols only matches - you end up with a lot of weakened people walking around and they won't destroy the turrets as fast. Placement is very important also placed above people is generally better.

For the air turrets, remember that they are the secondary ability, which tends to be less valuable across the board, even as they are now I would probably take them over the healing and maybe the engineer also (teams only need one and even then I rarely see people use the ammo things). I haven't gotten the later second abilities yet, so I don't know if they will be much better.
They have to fix this bullshit about Network Error's around 8pm. I'm sick of it.
agreed last night i was playing and was on the winning team with about 51 kills...and the network errored. The points obviously didn't collect and i had a lot of ribbons earned in that game...when that does happen i drop the game for a couple of days due to disgust in wasting my time. Oh well. I hope they get it fixed soon.

Got my upgraded sniper scope.

I'm up to 4 now. It's not so much a problem of me putting them in bad spots. It's just that I was only doing body count before. I've been doing mission games lately and it's way easier. Especially if I don't have another engineer on my team. Most times though I have to abort engineer to be the tactioner since it seems nobody ever wants to be one but the team absolutely needs one to win.
rocksolidaudio's a damned ninja. killed me a whole bunch, and I don't think I saw him once.
I only noticed he was there when I shot him in the face with a shotgun...

I got the repair ability and the Tactician tonight. Now I need to work on Field Mechanic medal and getting Air Support. that shouldn't take too long I guess.

Seriously, more people need to play Tactician. Tactician is really fun to play and MORE SPAWN POINTS, GWAR!!!

I got my 8th Repair Specialist Ribbon tonight, so that means...I could gimp my engineer if I wanted to. Also I performed a miracle by getting my 2nd Air Specialist Ribbon.

Oh, and my XP level IS OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!

Nappa: What, 9000!? There's no way that can be right! Can it!?
Seriously, more people need to play Tactician. Tactician is really fun to play and MORE SPAWN POINTS, GWAR!!!
I was just about to post that. I was the only Tactician on my team for every single game. :bomb:

I'm in the same boat. I usually start as a Tactician then switch to another class, but when I do I have to switch back to Tactician because no one else is Tactician.

I think it would be more of an incentive if they strengthened the aerial support. Also, it would be nice if they provided a countdown so the tactician could see how long a spawn will last.

fucking precisely. Man, that's really annoying.

Maybe, but it doesn't really matter as the Tactician is a pretty sweet class. And if I got my 8 Air Specialist Ribbons I could combine it with Boost, which would be a very deadly combination.

I'll probably use it when needed. I used it once to set up a Spawn point and went back to engineer to repair the torrents.

Anyone wanna give me a quick runthrough on the multiplayer? It seems so much is going on and I dont really get it all. Specificly the level progression...

Basically you gain XP to unlock things? Where do the ribbons fit into that, badges?

I've been playing the game for close to a week now. I have no luck at all at turret placement, and Tactician's flying bots seems pretty underpowered. The medic class is pretty overpowered, imo, especially when you unlock its secondary ability.

Since I've unlocked that badge that give you more points for body count kills, I've been "grinding" my way up to general by just hopping from one "TDM only" game to another as a medic. When I get bored of that (and I do get bored of mindless TDM quickly too, might I add), then I'll try to score some Warzone as either a Engineer or as a Tactician, just to get those out of the way.

Who knows, I might just get the hang of these two annoying abilities, get the unlocks, and form up what I've been told was a "one-man-army" build: Engineer with Tactician secondary.

PS: I do believe that a well played Tactician can really turn the tides, especially with well-placed spawn points. I've personally seen my team win with the cap-the-flag, territory, and defend/assault variants by planting a spawn point very close to the capture point, and quickly degenerating that match to a war of attrition...
I'm so fuckin stuck!!!!!!! I need help!
how do you beat Radic and all those damned Helghast soilders
Just keep on shootin'. :p

But seriously, hold out as long as you can against the soldiers until something huge crashes through the windows so you can kill the guys with rocket launchers. Then it's up to you to put Radec out of his misery. Be sure to use the shotgun. I'd try and stay near the enclosed area with the weapon rack instead of being out in the open though.

I've got the full bot build, it's fun but also a bit of work since everyone has everything now. Not like the first week craziness. Still don't have all my air support ribbons. I do miss having the repair ability though. It's nice that you can repair the turrets the engie builds so they can hold on during big assaults.

I want to be able to ride the ISA's airbots like big floating hoverboards. That would be cool. Maybe if you could remote pilot them they'd be a bit more effective?
Also, it would be nice if they provided a countdown so the tactician could see how long a spawn will last.
I could really use this. I switch classes depending on game mode, and for things like S&D where a tactician and a engineer are useful I'm always flip flopping after each death to make sure the spawn point stays up. Is it just me or is the tactician's spawn point not timed, but has a set amount of spawns?

Oh, now that I've reached General, the postgame point screen is such a downer. Sure I have ribbons to work on, but seeing all those points go waste just makes me sad. It would be cool if we could spend them on cosmetic stuff like how our classes look or something.

It'd be nice if the tactician got a mission point every time someone use his spawn, but then I think everyone would try to spam tactician.
It'd be nice if the tactician got a mission point every time someone use his spawn, but then I think everyone would try to spam tactician.
it would break the point system. I'd say a point for every spawn point thrown.
Well, a engineer with repair gets a point for every turret and ammo box they build.

People need incentives to play a class.
but that is limited. spawning is too great... people would have people spawning like crazy from them netting at least 50 pts from spawning alone.

I don't think the tactician needs a boost in point gaining abilities. They already start with the basic rifles, and at that point in leveling, you have a lot of other classes to gain points with as well.

Yeah, only 2 of the classes can earn extra points for doing things on the field right now right?

I don't like the spawn point idea. I don't think anyone really plays an engineer to earn points repairing things either.

Yeah I know what you mean. It used to be so great watching that bar fill after games before I got to general.

You haven't met my friend Xecutioner.

That's all he does and he is usually in the top 1 or 2 spots with minimal kills. So many mission points from repairing.

Or continue to repair and kill people.

No need to limit yourself to just the beginning of the match.

He averages 150-200 points a game, mostly from repair.

you don't get points for re-repairing stuff.
