Killzone 2 - Gen. Discussion & Info
My apologies if its been asked/answered already but is there a list that shows the badges, weapons, and perks and how to unlock them?
go to ur online statistics and switch tabs with L1/R1, you'll get an unlock list.

That engineer part of the flowchart is wrong. It goes Turret Specialist than repairs. I can't seem to get 5 kills with my turrets though, any tips? :(

Otherwise just unlocked tactician and loving it. Probably my favorite class so far because of the spawn points heh.

I think I'm going to have to jump on this game if it hits a $40 sale price anywhere...So people are running about 6h through single player on normal?

does killzone.com work for anyone? I uploaded my stats through the game a couple of hours ago, and neither my singleplayer nor multiplayer stats have shown up.
I honestly doubt it will ever be $40 since Sony never drops the price of their games. Uncharted is still $60 :/
There's a difference between drop and sale. LBP has been on sale for $40, and Uncharted has definitely hit sales for $40.
Anyone else think that the ability unlocking is a little convoluted? It was handled better in COD 4.
No. It keeps it fresh because you have to change classes to unlock certain abilities, so you're not just rocking M16, Stopping Power, 3x Frags.

I found out that the top 10% rankings were just based off post-patch.

tips are to put them in high places over areas of heavy traffic or next to open fences since the turrets have good site on sides of fenced platforms. also you'll have higher chances getting the 5 kills in levels with all game types instead of just body count.

I hate tactician... I want to unlock the secondary ability for my engineer but it's a bitch to kill people with the air support... I might settle for C4 ability as secondary for my engineer.

To get the 5 turret kill ribbon play in smaller games like 8 v 8. The reason is because each side is limited to 4 active turrets at one time so if you play in the 32 player rounds, chances are there will be other engineers that will use up the slots. Always put your turrets where they have some overlapping firing arcs. Put your turrets overlooking areas if possible, they'll have a higher chance of getting head shots. Don't go running off after you place your turrets, find a spot where you can keep an eye on them.

I was in a game last night were a tactician snuck into our base and dropped a spawn point where we spawned, the firefight there was completely insane.

in terms of hit points (or life energy) is there any difference from the Solider, to medic, and any of the other classes.

I believe the only one who has a different health system is the Assault class which has armor, basically giving them two health bars.
Anyone unlocked Assault yet? I'm pretty close but wondering what his standard weapons were.
Grenade launcher and two kinds of rocket launchers.

Just played the first level in single player and I like the atmosphere of the game. I can't say I like the controls though, but I'll get used to them I suppose.
Anyone unlocked Assault yet? I'm pretty close but wondering what his standard weapons were.
Think it is a grenade launcher.

Got to get some badges to swap out personally because this class seems to be able to take a lot of damage. Got surprised a few times as they guy kept coming at me even with I hit him with sniper rifle.

Did you get a weekly ranking trophy NamPaehc?
I think you're ranked higher than anyone here.

I've only got two buddies ranked higher than TheRock88 and you're on top.

That is a valid point. I remember that one of my main complaints from COD4 is that everyone used the same weapons. In this game there seems to be a nice mix of LMG, AR, SMG, and Shotty users.

I am sure that once I rank up the variety will increase, as well.

No I don't think so. Not sure how it works, but there are people with lower rank then me with them. at least if the colors behind their rank has something to do with it.

You had to have gotten one Stark. If not you got robbed. Pretty much the only times I played were with you and I got the 10% one. And I only played for a few hours after the patch.

To check your last week rank, go into friend rankings and tab over to last week.

I was surprised how low my score was compared to my overall.

Gawd, I've been receiving SEVERAL network errors. I can't even sign in to the PSN. I wish there was some kind of indicator to show the network quality of the servers. I know it's not on my side because I don't lag on my PC when playing PC games. Or the 360. And so on.

So I've played through...3 levels of Campaign right now, and the only complaint I can level against Killzone 2 atm is the narrow range of vision you have in comparison to other FPS's. I don't know if it's because it's dark or because you can walk through enemies but not teammates (which get in the way at the times), but I find myself dying randomly and I don't know where I'm getting shot from.

Zew - what's your pro-tip for aiming? Even after playing through the game and doing a bunch of mp, I feel like my reticule swings wildly when I try to shoot at someone.

I tried the highest speed setting at first, thinking higher speed would let me get an advantage, but the thing with KZ2 is that it's tough to get the gun to stop aiming when you want it to.

So, I dropped the speed setting to about 50 or 60%. Much better for me.

Also, make sure you're always aiming for the head. As you gun kicks up from firing, you should constantly be re-adjusting the aim height in a firefight. Headshots are a life saver.

Also, shoot in bursts instead of holding down the trigger. Makes shots more accurate, less kick, and conserves ammo.

That's what works for me, you can try it and see if it works for yourself.
The movement lag is likely due to the deferred rendering technique they use, to leverage the cell to get the amazing lighting. Just a guess, but I have read a fair bit of tech docs on deferred rendering, and I think that this is likely it. It was most likely a concious design decision by GG.

They might be able to tweak it better, but I would guess that it is likely a fact of life.

~S
I don't think it's because of the processing since the lag is noticeably less on multiplayer.

I think they just went about it wrong, after reading some comments from GG, it sounded like this was their method for forcing you to use a lower sensitivity setting. After all, the lower your sensitivity is, the easier it is to compensate for the delay.

I think they should just patch it to simply let people choose whether they want it laggy or not. I'm almost 100% certain the game will be much more fun with it not laggy.

As for the last level, now that was a fun level :)
Though I noticed throughout the game the difficulty of fighting against rocket launchers. They were a pain in the butt in killzone liberation as well.

I want to like this game, I really do.. but the movement lag is seriously, seriously hindering my enjoyment. The movement lag is tolerable, but the jumping is just.. awful. Nearly a full second delay.

A couple of things I noticed when playing online tonight.

#1 - Horrible Spawn locations. I kept getting spawned next to the bridge on this one map and I just kept dying and it wouldn't let me move. It's a total deathtrap that should be moved.

#2 - How does someone firing a rocket not die when the rocket lands 2 feet from where they were firing? Ridiculous.

#3 - WHERE ARE THE MEDICS WHEN YOU NEED THEM!?

#4 - Why when I try to go to Killzone.com through the browser does it say I need Flash 9? Do I have to manually upgrade it myself or what?

#5 - 16 v. 16 on some of those maps is just plain wrong and having that many people on some of those maps is just a mess.

There is only two spawn locations, one at each base. Those other random spawn points are set by tacticans. I tried to put my spawn points in a corner or somewhere with some cover instead of out in the open.

I agree, some of those maps are way too small for the larger matches, and some are way too large for people with a smaller matches. I wish they could cut some of those maps in half for 6 vs 6 since that's what I generally play.
#1 is probably because we were putting spawn points next to where you guys were spawning. So that's on a fault of us I guess for griefing :p
No, I was talking about that one level where you spawn on the right side of the bridge where you can't go up, and you basically go under the bridge or down into a river. I don't get why you can't go up there, or if you can, why it isn't so obvious.

You mean on Corinths Crossing? The ship level thing? Or the dust level? If it's the ship level you just go around the right hand side and that's where most of the action was, otherwise the dust level is pretty damn terrible so I believe you in it being gimped on spawn points also.

You were spawning at a Tactician's grenade spawn. Spawn somewhere else next time.

The Assault class uses rockets. They basically have twice as much health.

lol, it's sure fun as hell to fuck around in lower ranked player rooms. just start the round throwing random spawn points in places and let the chaos unfold.

I'm 400pts away from general. mainly been trying to just unlock 2ndary abilitys so I can use them on my engineer. I really want the C4 ability but that one is genna be a bitch to unlock.
Ugh, I'm actually tempted to find someone to boost the turret/air support skills with.

The things are just so damned useless :wall:
ur probably putting the turrets in the wrong places.

Why are you jumping so much?
There's no delay, the character actually bends his legs first and then jumps to give it more feeling. The whole game is about immersion, and I certainly don't jump with my legs straight.

If you're trying to jump over a railing or something, just press the button slightly earlier. It's all about timing.

I was able to get a turret ribbon in almost every game last night, I'm only 1 away from getting the medal. You just have to place them in the right places. Think about where the enemy are likely to come from or high places where the turrets can have a chance to get head shots.

I want to know, with the complaints about spawning, how come no one uses squads. Even if you don't talk or work together at all every person on every team should squad up, as it gives you an extra spawn point usually near the action.

I heard something about a patch to change the aiming or the control configuration... or both? Any truth to this?

That's because people are too retarded to destroy them. When I played multiplayer the other day, I could swear my friend and I were the only ones taking the time to destroy them.

So yeah, right now it shouldn't be difficult to rack up kills with them. Once people start getting the slightest bit smart though... I could see it posing a problem.

Indeed, squads are great. Although I only join one with a friend, so it's kindof limited. So if you happen to start a full squad, the squad leader should stay behind his squad so he doesn't die and his squad members can continually spawn on him. A pretty good tactic and it's pretty tough to defend against in ojective based matches.

There's also other ways out of bases too from what I've seen, but people don't seem to realise this yet.

They're already doing that now. That's why sometimes I stick around my turret and baby sit it so I can replace it and/or take out whoever shot my turret because more than likely, they took some hits and I can finish them off with a few shots.

Yeah, I really should squad up more than I do. Gotta remind myself to do that before every game. I just don't like being the squad leader because I tend to charge in 'leeroy jenkins' style too much.

I didn't know turrets explode when you shoot em' down. So one time I just bullrushed one cause it caught me by surprise. I'm so suicidal.

I can't seem to get the 5 turret kill thing either. I just have to find a game where the opposing team is filled with dummies who wont bother to take them out.
