Killzone 3 General Discussion & Info - Out NOW

I wish i had this beta but i didn't join psn+ until the undead dlc came out for rdr.
Can i get a beta code anymore? I though kz2 online was trash for a long time but its actually the best 1st person console shooter since the first two double 007 games on the N64. Never really played halo except the first one which didn't impress though.

Been away from CAG for a minute, but it's good to see some KZ2 heads still in here (Invin what up). I'm super-hyped for KZ3 and will be all over it day one.

I'm not in the beta (asleep at the wheel on that one), but hopefully I'll get an invite at some point (I've been in tons of their betas and I'm also a PS+ member).

there was a post in the deals section earlier that people found a way to get the beta by creating an account and saying they were from india. i think its dead now though.

Head's up: the beta will be closing soon. GG has gotten the feedback they need. Let's hope it is improved for release. It went from "day one" to "wait and see" for me.

Hi all,

We want to start off by thanking you for contributing to a successful Public Beta Trial so far. So here goes: “THANK YOU!”

Seriously, thank you for all the time you have spent playing the Beta. Thank you for your honest and sometimes brutal feedback. Thank you for all the creative, workable and sometimes unimaginable, but fun, suggestions. Between all the Devs, we have read all of them and responded to half as many as we would have liked.

Thank you, because we now have what we need. Actually, we have received so much feedback, suggestions and bugs, that the general discussion part of the forum has served its purpose and has been closed. There is enough info on there to make six Killzone games, not just one. We know what your opinions are; we know what you think should be altered or different altogether. And we know what we need to focus on to make Killzone 3 all it can be when it launches in February 2011!

During this Beta we’ve had a good mix of participants to help us out: people who were new to the franchise, but also a lot of hardcore Killzone 2 veterans. To those of you in the latter group, please know that we recognize your share in keeping the Killzone community alive and bringing new players to the game. We appreciate your continued support and feedback. Your comments on features such as Matchmaking, Controls, Server lists (or Custom Games) and Tactical Spawn Areas (or Spawn grenades) have been most valuable.

And while we may not be able to implement every suggestion you’ve offered (for instance we can’t “…just implement Killzone 2 spawn grenades-code” – that’s just not how it works!) that doesn’t mean that we aren’t listening to you. Your comments and suggestions form the basis for the changes we are currently making to Killzone 3, along with your bug reports and telemetry data from the game.

While it’s impossible to specify every fix, update and change that we are working on, the game is already in a much better state than what you are playing now. We would have loved to bring all of these changes to you via additional patches, but this would have taken us a lot of time that we’ve chosen to spend on development, fixes and tweaks instead. We will continue to incorporate your feedback up until launch, so the next time you see Killzone 3 it will be a much-improved experience.

We have already improved on a number of things that you listed. These are just a few:

• Matchmaking improvements - lots and ongoing
• Tactical Spawn Areas - functionality and additional TSA’s where needed
• Weapon damage, recoil and range
• Weapon distribution over careers
• Added Weapons
• Exo's - count, health regeneration and damage
• Spawn camping
• Career Abilities (like Recon)
• HUD icons, readability, options
• Tweaked turrets, sentries and drones
• Running speed, stamina tweaks
• Player health

Finally, it’s important to note that we’re nearing the end of the Public Beta Trial. We do not know exactly when the beta will shut down yet. But somewhere in the next couple of weeks the online service will be discontinued. The good news is that you will still be able to play and practice in Botzone after the Beta ends.

The Bug Section will be still open to report bugs. So you can still report issues. Also, don’t be afraid to use the Survey we’ve set up.

In the meantime, have fun with the Beta. And be nice to the new people coming on board! We hope to see you all in February 2011.

Thanks,

Guerrilla

With it ending soon I should probably play it. i've barely played it so far. We should get a CAG game going before it ends.

Beta closed
The Killzone 3 Public Beta Trial has officially ended. Thanks to everyone who participated - your feedback helps us improve the game!
Killzone 3 MP feels and looks good, but boy do they need to tighten the screws on their servers. In this day of high speed internet, lag should only occur when someone is seriously downloading too much porn.

If MAG and Warhawk could do it, why can't everyone else? Give us solid servers, or the ability to use our own and expect a very committed fan base to keep on playing.

As for Killzone 3 SP, I'm mad hyped! Loved the grittiness of KZ2. Guerrilla Games has a lot of expectations, Radec Boss Fight was an awesome way to finish.

FYI, Sony sent a preview build of the single player to press recently. The embargo for preview articles is lifting Thursday. I'm planning to replay it tonight so if anyone has any questions, I can answer them through my write-up.

Splitscreen campaign coop confirmed and looking very good! I don't think anything has been said about online though. Looks like a boss battle, so don't watch if you don't want any spoilers.

So I've been playing through Killzone 2 a bit, seems a bit clunky.

I usually play my 360 games without aim assist and it seems fine, this just takes it to a whole new level though, the controls don't feel really well done. Maybe it's just the Ps3s controllers. Hopefully I can get used to these, or they change it up for 3. x:
they change the controls and they will lose more fans than gain.
The controls themselves are fine, the movement, such as camera turning and hard aiming, could use some touch ups.

You must NOT play another FPS game while playing Killzone 2. I recently played Killzone 2 for a second playthrough and it took me a while to get back into the controls. I had been playing MW2.. and I had to put MW2 down until I completed KZ2. One thing I like about this game is that, when online, if you shoot someone, they're dead... and that's it.

I don't have much access to PSN, but I played a few skirmishs, the shotgun is fucking beastly, and the beggining pistol is weak as fuck.

I just got to the desert, this is the only game I've been playing, still not that used to it. D:

for those of you who have played kz2 was it slow to you at the beginning? i got this a month or so ago and i just cant get into it. does it improve over time or is that pretty much it? are there any decent holy shit moments?

Yeah, I just beat the story last night, the controls just feel to riggid. There are some cool moments and set pieces near the end, it's not a long game though, took me 4 hours and 12 minutes to beat it.

The controls are still kind of clunky to me, the AI was pretty bad throughout the whole game, it was funny cause in one certain area, we were on a balcony defending against on coming waves, and the AI up there with me would literally look down at the floor the whole time, shooting it.

Wow, you must have played on the easiest difficulty. It probably took me that long after I completely memorized the game and played on "Recruit" in order to pick up the last few trophies for a Platinum. I thought the AI in this game was much more clever than in any shooter I've ever played.
The game is pretty slow though. The better levels are probably towards the end.

I just got a Slurpee and I saw that there is a promotion on Slurpee.com where you can get DLC for KZ3 by trading in points. There are two featured, but one is the "Unlock and Load Pack" and it only costs 4 points, which is one extra large slurpee.

The other map pack is 10 points but there aren't any details about what maps it has.

It has been a very long time since I posted in the PS3 forum, but lets just say I'm greatly considering returning back to my old CAG night leadership, which I lead the CAG Killzone 3 clan (like I did for CAG KZ2) and game night.

Hey Mana, good to see you posting here. It'd be great if you're up to managing the clan and game nights. I didn't care much for the MP in beta but playing with CAGs should be fun.

Also, anyone who might be interested in playing KZ3 with Move needs to check out this video. Very informative.

So is anyone getting the Helghast edition? I can't find many reasons to get it, unless I get the Halo 3 helmet prop and have an intense stare off between them in my room back home.

Idk if I should get the collectors edition since it's almost next to my birthday.
Anyone think it's worth it?

i think the more pressing question is are you going to buy the kz3 sharp shooter?

Multiplayer Open Beta Feb 2nd to Feb 14th !
Hello PlayStation Nation! Killzone 3 launch is now just 30 short days away, but for those of you who just can’t stand to wait any longer, we’ve got some good news: The Killzone 3 Multiplayer Open Beta will be available for download on the PlayStation Network on Wednesday, February 2nd.

This Open Beta will be available for free to all North American PS3 users and will run from Feb 2nd-14th, giving you the perfect chance to get hands-on with Killzone 3′s brutal online warfare and try out the revamped precision controls. You will also have the option to play using the PlayStation Move and stereoscopic 3D.

The Open Beta will offers exclusive early access to the MP05 ‘Frozen Dam’ multiplayer level from Killzone 3, including all three online multiplayer modes: Guerrilla Warfare, Warzone and Operations, along with the offline multiplayer mode, Botzone.
“Frozen Dam” is a sprawling asymmetrical map set in an old dam facility, the playing field in MP05 has been carefully tailored to fit each of the multiplayer modes. Here are the four multiplayer modes included with the Open Beta:

Guerrilla Warfare (16 players)
Guerrilla Warfare is a standalone multiplayer mode similar to classic Team Deathmatch: You and your teammates must try to kill as many of the opposing team as you can before the timer runs out. In this mode, only the downstream monitor houses and repair bay are accessible, giving the map a very frantic pace.

Warzone (24 players)
If you’ve played Killzone 2, you may already be familiar with Warzone. It’s a round-based multiplayer campaign that consists of five randomly ordered mini-missions. In this mode, the power house and penstocks directly under the dam are accessible as well, so there’s more room to come up with different strategies and approaches to your goal.

Operations (16 players)
Operations is a new multiplayer campaign which aims to deliver a more cinematic, story-based gameplay experience, similar to that of Killzone 3′s single-player mode. It consists of a sequence of linear mini-missions, in which the ISA must try to secure the docks and destroy the dam, while the Helghast must try to protect the dam facility.

Botzone (one player and up to 15 bots)
Botzone is an offline multiplayer mode ideal for those looking to get to grips with the controls, the weapons or the map layout before going up against live players. Each of the aforementioned multiplayer modes can be played offline, against CPU-controlled opponents.

And of course, the open beta is just a taste of what you’ll get in Killzone 3′s multiplayer experience. For more details on Killzone 3′s multiplayer maps, check out the full briefing on Killzone.com.

We’ll unveil more details on the Killzone 3 Multiplayer Open Beta soon (along with some other surprises). So stay tuned!
