Crap, I could've sworn I saw the release date for Splinter Cell Trilogy in August. Did they move the release date or something? Now I have to figure out what other game to use my $15 coupon on...

This became the IGN forums at some point...

Anyway, my store is out of PSN coupons, so what's the best thing to use this Infamous coupon on?

Isn't this just a matter of personal want and desire? I mean obviously you can't get PSN Points Cards. Do you want any 360 Arcade titles? Would Wii points cards satisfy your desire? Have you checked out all the clearance titles?

What type of genres do you like? Maybe one of us who plays a ton of games in that genre could guide you in the right direction. We kind of need something to go on though to help you. Unless you want me to just tell you something random to buy, but I don't think they would satisfy you at all.

I'm personally letting my brother use that 20$ Coupon. Maybe you could ask if your friends could use it. Just unfortunate that the summer drought couldn't sustain anything I had desire in. Last year I hopped on with Peace Walker and rode that Coupon Train until early December.

I haven't stepped into k mart since the OOT launch and I notice my desire to shop there has gone done considerably versus 9 monthes ago. As Much as Josh wants to deny it, 15 dollar coupons are awful and not worth the time on 60 dollar games. Newegg puts all these new games on sale for 50 dollars flat for most of us. I dont have to deal with anybody not at electronics, i dont have to pay tax, and i dont have to pay gas to get there. Im actually saving money going newegg spending more on the actual title.

K marts deals have slipped in more then the dollar amount given. No add on offers. Its like suddenly its done for.

maybe it has to do with the fact that there haven't been many big titles released this summer. NCAA football 12 got a $20 coupon. It's not that Kmart is done for but there haven't been many new releases this summer. Comparing it to Newegg is sort of difficulty because any of the Newegg deals I've seen are for games that are still months away and haven't had the kmart deal announced for those games.

LA Noire was released 2 months ago with a 20 dollar coupon and a free game. And Kmart is done for? It's been TWO months. TWO.

ncaa football has been the rare one lately with 20. 15 dollars is not enough a coupon for a game like call of juarez. it just looks better if they put it on sale for 40 bucks in a week or two after launch.

Ugh, how to respond without sounding like an ass....I don't want to disrespect your post but I just have to disagree with you.

I'll just list one deal a month in retro to make my point....

Feb. $25 credit with MvC 3
Mar. $15 coup and save $30 on 4k points with Crysis 2 or $15 coup and free $20 Points with Homefront
April $15 if $40 or $60 if $120 plus save $10 on points with MK or Portal
May $20 and $20 with LA Noire
June $20 coup with I2, Duke and $15 with OoT (ok so I listed 3)

All that and every release that I can think of was quickly discounted as well that isnt on map.

I go dry for one month (and by dry I mean a $20 coup with NCAA and 34.99 LA Noire) for personal issues and I guess that means it's drying up.

9 months ago was Oct. Btw. Slightly more titles to play with.

And I'll continue to disagree that 15s are worthless. If one .com matches the performance each week and that is who I am being measured against, I guess that's the way it is. I have not see one BM location outside of BB in June that has even come close to what we have done this year. Apples to apples please.

Thanks for shedding light on that, if you know what I mean. Just kidding.

Is Kmart or Sears carrying Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition?

I've gone to one Kmart and two Sears and neither had any copies. If it was sold out I would have seen a sign with the name of the game and price like with all of their other games, but at all three stores I've seen neither. I just want to buy it there cause I have a $20 Gift Card.

Especially since the whole "no tax" thing isn't really fair. Tax isn't something kmart (or any other local retailer) just feels like doing for shits and giggles.

Plus, if you're comparing (no tax + $10 off), you also have to add in time delay from newegg to offset that plus.

$15 coupon / $60+tax / gas

vs

$50 / wait 3+ days to get it in the mail

Arguments can be made for either but it hardly means Kmart has dried up or not competitive.

----

Josh, don't let these people get to you man. If you'd have offered up $50 coupons, but then dropped it to $40, they'd still complain about it only being $40. There's no pleasing some people and I think you're smart enough to not worry about those customers.

You did that in a respectable way and while he's entitled to his opinion I don't think any people would side with him. That being said I haven't bought nearly as many games at Kmart in 2011 as I did in 2010. However, that is because there hasn't been many releases I've wanted, and that will change in the holiday season.

I spent the first half the year playing Ys PSP Ports, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Oath in Felghana and Ys 7. Also Trails in the Sky, those are pretty niche games that I didn't expect you to stock from a business point of a view much like Catherine. Bought LA Noire and Infamous 2 and that was what I truly was after for the first half of the year. I will say I price matched Best Buy for Portal 2 because my store ran out of copies super fast when I went to pick that up.

As far as I'm concerned the only other competition for games now is Amazon and even that I'm buying older stuff on Warehouse Deals. They will give away credit sometimes, but it never seems as good knowing that I can consistently chain coupons. Although I didn't partake on many of the deals, but I keep up with the thread even when I'm not posting a lot. There wasn't a single time in my head where I said. If I was buying "X" game on Day 1 I would go a different place for a better deal than Kmart.

There are some people on this site that are very short-sighted and very impatient. Please don't take that as legitimate criticism of your efforts at kmart. The $15 coupons are great and anything more is even greater. I think Kmart's biggest strength is consistency. Outside of a few niche titles, you can depend on kmart to have an offer on nearly every single release week game. Best Buy may have a random certain week with a competitive deal but week after week kmart provides great release date deals.

It's like these kids haven't ever seen a summer release list before. July is always dry as a bone and trying to push game sales in a dead month is just dumb. Save your budget for 3rd/4th quarter when things heat up again.

Kmart did not stock the title - If you own the original SSF4 disc edition I recommend you buy a points or PSN card and buy the DLC update - it's only $15.

If not, then buy the disc release with your $20 gift card and the DLC update for $15. It's cheaper than $40 for the disc edition either way.

Kmart decided not to stock AE because there was still a large stock of SSF4 from last year in most stores.

I agree. What are you going to do, give us sales for games that already had big sales? July is dead for releases. People just need to realize that and reload for the fall. Every summer I have a list of games that I've missed out on to try out and a list of games I want to play again that I don't have time for come fall. That gets me through the dry spell. Unfortunately, you can't please everyone all the time, but most of us know how hard you work Josh and how much of an impact you've had not just in terms of Kmart, but also other places trying to match, which gets more games in gamers' hands.

You should definitely go the "ass" direction in future posts. It's like going Renegade man, with less dialogue wheel and more swearing! fuck the Council, fuck the Krogans, let the galaxy burn! :hot:

But seriously, the May deal was great. Resonance of Fate for free was the deal-clincher. That game never drops in price ever it seems.

I think what the "dry" month shows is that people are fickle and have short attention spans and shorter memories. Kmart runs great deals, but Best Buy's been giving you guys a run for your money, and running some great deals too the last month or two. I bet that's why people are feeling disappointed, at least in part. Maybe that's unfair, but customers are hard to please so all you can do is keep swinging for the fences really. I think it'll be interesting seeing how things shake out for your next few quarters as you keep going.
That being said I haven't bought nearly as many games at Kmart in 2011 as I did in 2010. However, that is because there hasn't been many releases I've wanted, and that will change in the holiday season.
This sums it up for me pretty well. LA Noire/RoF + NFS: Shift 2 was my last purchase from Kmart, and that's due to me shifting focus to PC/Steam for a while and working through my backlog. Or attempting to, anyways. When fall rolls around, there's going to be a lot of games I'm going to want, and aside from a few exceptions, I'll probably be buying from Kmart if the trend set previously continues.
Thanks for shedding light on that, if you know what I mean. Just kidding.
:cold: Dear God, the puns, sadboy. The puns.

I didn't buy a game at Kmart in like three weeks. Kmart is done for and going out of business and they suck forever. I'm going to go back to GameStop where they give me awesome sales all the time and make it worth my troubles to buy a game there. They have DLC costumes, ya know. PS Will Kmart have Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition? Nobody asked that on this page yet.

Seriously though, I'm still bummed that there's been nothing for me deal-wise at Kmart lately because I'm not into football. All the games I want this month and next are all niche titles that Kmart isn't carrying. I still think it's a bummer that they aren't grabbing Catherine, but oh well. Couldn't get Oblivion there, no El Shaddai there next month either. Oh well. Just gotta prep up for the fall, right?

Hey Josh, any word on if you guys are gonna get The Cursed Crusade? I know it seems like Kmart doesn't get many ATLUS titles, but this one looks pretty good and is releasing at $39.99. I'd love to put that on my Kmart shopping list!

I"ve done some scavanger hunting over the last few weeks and picked up some Beatles LE Bundles, Buzz! Quiz Bundles and PSP clearances but I get bummed that some Kmart stores (for no particular reasons) seem to get all kinds of collector's editions (AC: Brotherhood, Tron, Halo Reach Legendary, I2 Hero Edition, K3 Helghast, etc. etc.) and others get none. And let's be honest, kmart is NOT known for discounting collector's editions at any point after release except for the fluke Castlevania LOS LE discount.

I just don't understand why they buy collector's editions if they don't plan on pyramiding the prices down to a point where they will sell after a set amount of time.

Part of me is saying this out of envy because I never get anything at my store but also many other major retailers have been competing HARD when it comes to discounting collector's editions and their is little of Kmart still selling Halo Reach Legendary for $149.99 and I2: Hero Edition and AC: Brotherhood CE at $99.99.

Also the other thing that I wish happened more is an increase in spontanous sales and promotions. Most of the promotions that I read about or see that get me to buy games I typically wouldn't are just random spend XYZ and get "X" in SYWR points that aren't necessarily video game targeted deals.

Let's be honest for a moment; Best Buy has been killing it lately. They have had several heavily discounted games in the last few weeks. I just feel like sometimes at Kmart it's either a really solid discount or offer on a new or recent release or nothing.

ok i have to say, (this is mostly directed to dumb asses like thinsfallingapart and others like him) where else on release day can you get 20 or 15 dollars of a game. try that at walmart , gamestop, or bestbuy. Josh i still apreciate all you do. i say if they dont like deals they dont have to shop there.

Nowhere... you are absolutely correct. Besides a few matches from Amazon and a few glitches at Best Buy Kmart is the most CONSISTENT retailers when it comes to promotion on NEW and RECENT releases.

I realize they have had other very good deals on hardware and accessories and a clearance drop of two but outside of new releases their just isn't much and when you run into a dry spell on new releases like we're having in July and the start of August their is little reason to visit Kmart unless that is your destination of choice for grocery and other household shopping and I will admit they have very good deals on that stuff too.

I'm a spontanous shopper and collector when it comes to video games so I really like the DOTD that amazon does and some sporadic price drops that Best Buy has had as well though. I have a huge backlog so I'm not really that attracted to new releases and new releases only.

But to each his own and you must admit Kmart has improved 10 fold the last year and a half and I've notice an improvement in customer service in all the stores I've visited in my area.

Nothing particularly noteworthy has released since OoT (the $40 game with the $15 coupon...), and Josh has mentioned multiple times that he was not around for awhile and so not a whole lot got done for this month.

And honestly why you think he would just throw away money on some of the titles that have released lately is beyond me. Even decent games like Fear, Alice, and Shadows are not exactly going to light up the sales charts, particularly when compared to all the upcoming games. There's probably 10 or so "AAA" titles still coming up this year. It'd be much better for everyone to save the killer deals for those titles. You're lucky someone like me isn't running things at Kmart because there's no way in hell I'd even do $15 for shit games like Duke or Call of Juarez...

I just want to see Josh punch a reporter.

That said- you guys complaining about a drought need to step back and blame the industry. They've done nothing but release crappy movie tie-ins for the past few months.

On the other hand though, it does feel like there have been fewer random, old game sell offs. Maybe it's because i already bought it all new, or because I don't want DNF. :)

I guess the only thing I'd like to see from Kmart is in a month like July (this July being exceptional due to Josh's personal issues Stay Strong, Man ;)) is like a "Deals Redux". This would be similar to what XBLA does with the previous year's summer of arcade games where they put last year's SoA games on sale.

For Kmart, they could pick a title (or two) from each of the previous 6-9 months (eg. Black Ops, AC:B, Dead Space 2, de Blob 2, Homefront, Portal 2, LA Noire, Red Faction: Armageddon) and either offer them at a straight $20-$25 off or as part of a B2G1. Especially for games with an upcoming sequel, it might help clear out a bit of inventory. Plus, it would give some options for those late May/June coupons during the 'doldrums'.

Just a thought. (and it was even "ON TOPIC" yay! :applause::applause::applause:)

I'm not going to say this with 100% knowledge, but I'm pretty sure just because Amazon or Newegg don't charge tax doesn't mean you don't owe that tax. My state has a line on the income tax form specifically for those missed taxes. States are losing millions on this type of evasion and are pushing hard for laws for online retailers to collect these taxes. When Kmart offers a deal go to them for it, don't pm to Amazon. If these deals aren't generating sales for Kmart then they may end.

It's really disgusting how Josh is having to defend himself after having the release day sale of the year(LA Noire) and consistently providing a $20 coupon for most games!!

WTF, How can Josh do any deals in July/early August when basically NO games are coming out (sorry to SoD,CoE and Cartel). I can't wait until September, when we have two or three games coming out a week that Josh will have $20 or even $25 coupons on each. Does everyone forget how awesome the deals were last fall? Keep up the good work and I look forward to all the deals coming up. I mean he already has Deus Ex with a $20! Now I just have to hope my SoD coupon lasts until that comes out.
lol @ thinkin the KMart Gravy Train wont start back up come fall/holiday. smh at people.
this is so true. time to save some dough.

I really love all that Josh does for us gamers with the coupons and the deals. For me this break from release games is a blessing as I have now gone through 2 games of my backlog and hopefully be able to get through a couple more before holiday season.

Keep up the great work Josh.

I don't mind that there is no deals this month. I mean seriously I am not greedy where I need new games or sales all the time. Hell, this month has been a refreshing change of pace seeing I don't have to spend much money on gaming and it gives me a chance to play some of the other games sitting there.

This fall is scaring me already. Skyrim, Saints Row The Third and Sonic Generations in the same month. It's not the fact that I will be spending tons of money that bothers me. It's the fact that there are two games coming out so close to eachother that I will be sinking tons of hours into on top of everything else . I guess though it will work out seeing the only other games I will be buying this fall is Dark Souls, Battlefield 3 (for my multiplayer fix), and Rayman Origins. Dead Island will probably be a price drop type of deal, and I don't mind Backlogging Rayman considering there is a deal.

Also I am one of the few people who would rather buy at a store than online. I mean even with no tax and free shipping, I would rather go and support k-mart. Plus where I live, it's a day out because in the backwoods of PA, there isn't anything to do, lol.

This. Not to mention I've applied all my video game money to dress clothes and I look stellar! lol

Some people seem to fail at understanding the concept of a budget. You will be thankful he's not wasting money on deals now when there is so much (as always) the later part of the year.

I don't like the fact that no one else can step up and take over handling deals/negotiations with companies other than SHC-Gamer for Kmart. It pretty much sucks for people who have coupons in the month of July when there has not been a good deal other than NCAA Fball with an additional $20 coupon. Yeah, I can go buy a points card with them, but that really wasn't my intention or what I want to do. I think that is what irritates me more than anything else.

If Kmart doesn't want to do things like Best Buy followed by a match by Amazon in doing a buy a Kinect game get one free deal, or B2G1 free deal, or older game prices to 9.99 and below then that is fine. Do I think it is the best business decision? Nope. Should SHC-Gamer have to be the only one to create these deals? Nope. Should he even worry about/focus 100% on gaming/job duties when there are a lot of other issues going on with his personal life? Nope.

But this isn't a SHC-Gamer/Josh thread. This is a Kmart thread, and as a customer I'll bitch and complain about the lack of deals because this (even though it appears that it is) shouldn't be a one man run production.

Everyone gets on here and backs SHC-Gamer every single time and trashes others constantly for their opinions if it goes against him. It is amusing most of the time to watch the hatred. I haven't seen one person post something on this thread actually blaming him for anything. He is constantly praised and obviously does a superb job. There is just no way he can keep up with this kind of pace for too long. Reading all of the issues at Kmart and all of the problems he has with coupons printing is a nightmare. I couldn't imagine having to put up with that shit.

An opinion on Kmart or how their company is run is not a bash on SHC-Gamer. But I would say 80% of the people who respond to one negative post can't get that through their minds.

It's a blessing and a curse. No other major retailer has had a rep come here and put themselves right in the middle of the community. When people bitch about the lack of deals, it's going to appear as though they are blaming Josh because when everyone is happy about the deals they give him all the praise. I think most people are quick to "defend" Josh because they understand that this is a position that he has willingly put himself in.

You all do understand that you are strengthening some of the points being made. Deals don't have to be on new release titles only. That same logic being applied means that just because no new releases of worth are schedule during the next upcoming weeks does NOT mean that there still can't be killer deals.

Many retailers have KILLED it the last few weeks dropping solid games to solid prices (that aren't new or recent releases) as well as moving some new and old collector's editions at amazing prices.

Most peoples gripes (if I'm reading correctly). Is that their are NO DEALS PERIOD.

Having LA Noire at $35.99 is great but if you follow this thread you already picked it up during its release week.

Most of the deals that have come up over the last week to two are on games that had deals during release week as well.

Example, if my store doesn't have PSN cards and I get a free one with it x purchase, Josh will give me a $20 giftcard.

Name me one other retailer who will do that. Ok sure K-mart does not have as many deals as places like best buy or target, but seriously you can't expect every retailer to have constant deals every week. They are a buisness.

True if you're into the older stuff, I couldn't really care less most of the time. I just want new stuff usually. There really haven't been a ton of deals on older titles though has there? There was the 120/60 deal or whatever it was, and there's often a sale on things that have released within a month or so, but I dont remember much for actually older titles. I could be wrong though just because like I said I generally don't care much for older titles.

Well K-mart focuses their deals on newer games which makes sense because k-mart does not have a huge electronics section as best buy or even target. I mean my k-mart near my work is no where as big as the electronic sections of target, best buy etc. I mean sure I would like to see more deals, but really I am not going to just bitch at a retailer because they don't release amazing deals every week. I mean not trying to defend k-mart, that goes for any retailer in general. The month of july is slow, and with k-mart having a constant stock of every old game in general I can tell it can be hard to run game sales sometimes.

Plus one reason why I like Josh so much is name me one other retailer that will compensate you if your deal did not go through as planned.
