www.KmartGamer.com (Blog is effective in all locations)

To receive gaming coupons you must be a Shop Your Way Rewards member. It's free and only takes a couple of minutes to sign up in store.

It's a wiki, please update. This portion of the OP is for anyone who notices a deal posted either at KmartGamer's blog, Facebook, Twitter or in this thread.

Shop Your Way Rewards:

It's a wiki, please update. This portion of the OP is for anyone who notices a SYWR offer. These offers can be very targeted (Geo, User, etc.) so anything placed needs to be validated.

Coming Soon:

All titles listed below I am working on offers for and the dates I think they are coming out.

3-23 :3ds: Kid Icarus: Uprising

Games Kmart will not be carrying:
 • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
 • Catherine
 • PC versions of Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3 and Skyrim
 • Any other PC game that was also released on consoles.

Earning Coupons at Kmart:
If I buy a $59.99 game and use a $20 coupon, does that mean I won't get the "Spend $40 on games, get a $15 coupon" coupon?
Yes. As long as it's over $40 BEFORE you use a coupon, you're good.

Using Coupons at Kmart:
Once a coupon is used it is gone, it is not refunded. Also, if a game is purchased with a coupon promotion and then returned the coupon needs to be returned as well.

Please don't take this as I am saying you are being fraudulent, this is a general note to everyone as I know this has come up previously. We have a new fraud researcher that has started and already has tracked down people trying to exploit the system and will soon be facing action from us. Every transaction with a coupon it tied to a SYWR account.
The total BEFORE taxes must be over the value of the coupon. For example, if your coupon is for $20, you must buy at least $20 worth of gaming merchandise. (i.e. you cannot use a $20 coupon on one $19.99 game.)
You must present coupons before making payment, and redeeming points is a form of payment.

Yeah, I hear ya. I am 37 years old myself and Kmart was the only department/toy/videogame/fashion store my family and I would go to when I was a kid as it was the only store of this kind in my community growing up. If Kmart, Toys R Us, or Sears ever go out of business I would be totally sad as those 3 stores are my favorite; for nostalgia sake. It was bad enough when PlayCo, Gemco and Kaybee Toys went out of business, but I would hate to see the other 3 from my childhood go out too.

Huh, I always thought it was called Children's Place. Anyways, no one should be too worried about your local store closing. There's only like a 2% chance it could happen. Probably more likely if you live in the middle of nowhere or if you live in an area that is poor/has high unemployment.

They're 2 different companies. Children's Place is a clothing store; Children's Palace was the greatest toy store of all time.

I had an email saying if I refer X number of friends that I'd get $75 or something. Needless to say, everybody I know is a broke ass gamer like me, so if it required any sort of sizable purchase I wouldn't have qualified.

Did anyone take part in the $50 gaming coupon deal Kmart offered the week of Nov. 8th? For purchasing $110 dollars worth of video games a $35 and a $15 coupon where supposed to print out. When I took advantage of the deal only a $15 coupon printed out. I know this thread says they will reimburse you via a Kmart gift card if a coupon fails to print so I figured no problem, I'll just submit an email with the information required as it says at the beginning of this thread. Well it has been 7 weeks and I haven't received a gift card and my attempts to get information on the status via both email and phone have gone unanswered. Anybody else have the same problem? Seems like 2 months to get reimbursed is a little crazy, but not even getting a response with some information is the most frustrating. I'm thinking kmart may have shafted me on this one.

Thought CAG didn't let you view stuff without an account? (just asking because you joined this month) anyway, if you sent them your info and I guess (been awhile since i've done it) a picture of your receipt, they should've replied. They usually go through it quick (considering I assume, the massive amounts of e-mails they can accrue)

Yeah, Kmart had crappy deals on Black Friday but overall they were the best this year as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, I'm pretty sure my closest Kmart will stay open. It's fairly busy almost every time I go in there.

The memories that name brings back...lol. I bought almost all of my Commodore 64 games from there.

KMART had BY FAR the best deals at the start of the year. Great launch deals on Dragon Age II, Crysis 2, Yakuza 4, and especially L.A Noire. KMART was basically my go to store the start of the year.

Best Buy just went crazy during Christmastime though. The reality is with my backlog and limited time, and the fact that games are hitting rock bottom prices so quickly nowadays, the only thing I was really looking for were some amazing deals on semi-recent releases that I missed on months ago. Best Buy has been delivering HUGE on the bargains for existing releases.
I have a single Kmart location in town if that one closes I think I will literally shed man tears. Arrg...

I mean I feel like people go into ours and it's definitely no longer dark and dismal people (at least in electronics) over the last year seem to have really improved. Who knows though....

This statements makes me wonder if Josh knew this was coming or it was just something of random chance.
I know what you mean man. I love these KMART deals (at least if they get back to what they had at the beginning of this year). I hope they aren't gone for good. I was hoping they'd be my go-to store for amazing deals that other retailers wouldn't do. But I guess some of them were just TOO good to be repeated and that became clear for the rest of the year.

I feel for Josh as well, having worked corporate office for a major real estate developer pretty much throughout the worst of the housing collapse, I know what it's like to work for a company that's in trouble. Sears is only closing 120 of 4000+ stores though. That is NOTHING like the epic collapse that I faced LOL where we were basically laying people off every week, merging workgroups and even divisions on almost a bi-monthly basis in a desparate attempt to stay solvent. Sears is not in a desperate situation like that at all, they just need to take a hard look at alot of their stores. Dramatically reinvent all the good locations, and close down a large number of stores in "shady" demographic areas (other retailers are MUCH quicker to do this than Sears/Kmart IMO, KMART seems to just let many of it's stores rot without any investment in them which is the root of the problem).

Anyway during all my visits to KMART rarely does it go smoothly, but almost every time the employee is able to work it out in the end so I leave happy. Only on one occasion did a "manager" piss me off with his laziness/attitide when the clerk needed his help to check stock on a game, and Josh took care of me on that one. So I really don't have a problem at all with the "people" of KMART. It's the board and the CEO that are just doing a miserable job. You know, the guys that actually rake in the money for their supposed "expertise". In my area there are about 4 KMART's, and amont those in my eye's there is 1 that really needs to be one of the ones to go, 2 really nice stores, and 1 somewhere in the middle. With my luck (and what I expect of Sears upper management) they will probably keep the ghetto store open and close down the good ones.
:shame:

I think I missed something...

Is their any reason why the ICO Collection would be advertised as $19.99 in store but ring up for $29.99?

I have coupons expiring on 12/31 so I bought a $50 PSN card and ICO for what I assumed was $19.99

I used a $35 and $20 GC and wasn't paying attention but the game rang up for $29.99 so that meant I spent $25 out of pocket instead of the $15 I would have spent if ICO rang up as it was advertised at Kmart (They had a red sticker stating it was on sale for $19.99 down from $39.99.

I didn't notice this until after I finalized my payment. I know it is a hassle to return but I don't want to pay $30 for this game.

Is their any solution that won't involve me blowing my brains out? I'm assuming they'll prorate the coupons and in the end I'll only get refunded my OOP which is $25 which is less then the value of the game.

It really sucks hearing all this bad news about Kmart/Sears. And for me, it's not just for gaming reasons either, I get a lot of stuff at the local Kmart. I don't know what I'll do if my store closes down, it's the only one within an hour drive, Target in my town blows product selection-wise, and Walmart is Walmart, I'll avoid it unless there is no other choice. I've been shopping at Kmart for years and I'd hate to see it close. Luckily, an article in the local newspaper quoted the store's manager as saying they exceeded expectations for the fourth quarter, and did better than last year.

I really hope the coupons aren't done either, I have $90 in Kmart gift cards to spend after Christmas and I was really hoping the gaming deals would keep on coming. I'm not at all exaggerating when I say that if Kmart game deals are gone I may be done with gaming. I'm so not interested in fighting crowds and clueless employees to pay full price at a store that gives no craps about its customers. Throw that in with the fact that I'm not too impressed with current trends in the gaming industry overall, and I'm not seeing the benefits as clearly as I used to. Maybe this feeling will pass, but damn what a depressing day this is.

Really sucks to hear about the bad news :(. I have like 3 stores in 20 mile radius so hopefully none of them close. I really love going to kmart to look for old games and games that are on sale. Never had a problem at any of the kmarts I go to.

I think it is hilarious that someone stated it was because the flippers/resellers. Not only do they boost sales for the electronics department, they also show inflated sales numbers in some instances for certain sales that will then meet the numbers the higher-ups are looking for. I believe you have to look at the rest of the store's productions in other departments. I would assume electronics isn't taking nearly the hit compared to others, or the entire store(s) as a whole.

Something tells me no one is flipping the Essential brand of goods that Kmart carries which is the cheapest thing known to mankind. Hard to make any money when Walmart's cheap brand is better and cost less.
Something tells me no one is flipping the Essential brand of goods that Kmart carries which is the cheapest thing known to mankind. Hard to make any money when Walmart's cheap brand is better and cost less.
^ That's my thinking. I know everyone hates on Walmart but the cheap crap that Walmart puts out is far better then the cheap crap that Kmart puts out and in addition the stores are usually much cleaner and better organized.

This is too bad though... it just feels like KMart settled for being the welfare mom special (no offense to anyone) many years ago and has been happy with that status quo

That is very true. While Walmart has the same trash walking through their stores, many more normal people go there. I can say with 100% honesty that I have never seen a normal family or middle-class looking people in Kmart. This definitely sucks. I just hope the electronics section/coupon offers aren't greatly affected by the financial woes.

Do we have a dedicated thread for KMart clearance games? I tried to search but came up empty handed. Know Josh has some listed on the first page, but I'm thinking it may be outdated at this point.

I have a coupon I need to use in the next day. Question anyone know if the new ps3 remotes are on sale and do coupons work on accessories or ms points?. TIA

Hey I thought yall forgot about me. That said, store closings have begun.

In the Richmond.VA area stores 3002 and 3634 are now closing. As of today, layaway, money orders, lotto fishing licences are now removed from the store.

Liquidators will be here before Feb 1 (I say, in 2 weeks). I was almost at years in Feb.

Human Resource called out sick so we didn't get any more information regarding severance pay etc. And the Pharmacy will close down before the store actual closes for good.

The location I had the most trouble with is closing down. It's unfortunate that the employees are losing their jobs at that location but with so much retail growth in that area they shouldn't have to hard of a time finding a new job.

I'm shocked there are no further closures in the greater Phoenix area. There are three stores for sure I can think of that I wouldn't be shocked to see on the chopping block, possibly even a fourth store.

If it wasn't for video games, I wouldn't step inside a Kmart or Sears. Since I've been coming in for the gaming deals I do shop at those stores slightly more frequently as an alternative (i.e. looking for a specific item that has a different selection in each store). They have not been my go to store ever, and my experiences have only encouraged me not to frequent these stores.

Like a real cheapass, I go where the deals are, and sometimes it's Kmart or Sears. I will continue to go until the deals dry up.
Memphis is safe for now. Wonder when the other 50 will drop.
it's safe (and Jackson, TN) because they are #1 in layaway sales.

Great, no NYC stores got involved... yet!

Seriously, I hope they can now have some sources (after cuttings) to focus on staff training if they really want to bounce back, even some of their store managers still don't know there is a Kmart Gamer existed...
