I would say everything except the pic. I know my phone takes crap pictures and if we get an employee's name telling us this BS then that should validate the story.

The stores need to be the ones providing something if this happens. I would like to think that if a store is made aware of a program where they get penalized somehow for their incompetence then things could change pretty quick. Of course I'm sure blame would be passed around like crazy as to whose fault it is but these places should have a basic structure to this process to begin with.
Fair feedback. I tend to agree with you. Put the onus on the location. I just don't want to get into a whole he said/she said thing.

I've gotten a number of requests for Fallout 3 CE and the only thing I can find is the PS3 CE and it is only in 1 store in the entire chain.

It's store 3522 in Elmwood NJ, I don't know if it's on clearance now or not but that is the only location that is reporting to have it. Good luck to anyone in New Jersey trying to get it but I don't know how accurate our inventory counts can be for something that old.

Awesome idea!!!!!

I'm sure it would light a fire under the lazy employee to do their job.

I can just see it now......

Lazy employee: Hey why are you taking pictures and writing my name down?
CAGer: Reporting this to SHC head office
Lazy employee: :whistle2:#:hot::whistle2:#:hot::whistle2:#

ITT, Joystiq is a respected review outlet. I'm sure this game is average at best, but can we stop bringing up Joystiq? They are a fucking joke.
It's sad that a "good experience" is now down to:

- The product not being on the shelf to begin with
- No coupon printing out

Granted you had an employee willing to do part of their job and I know what you meant but it's still funny if you think about it.
It wasn't really a "good" experience until I read the thread, I was kind of ticked about the coupon, but there was really nothing I could say since I didn't know of the problem before hand and the employee apparently didn't know anything either.

As far as the shelf, meh, doesn't really bother me if someone is willing to stop what they are doing out of the blue and go back and check for me. Especially since that store's shelves are packed, they don't really have a lot of room to move games around behind the glass.

Good customer service can make up for a lot, so props to Jay at the store.

With no offense to Josh or the other Sears employees here, K-Mart has to be the worst retailer out there. Not having games out that you are carrying is a JOKE. The fact that it keeps happening is even worse. Im sure Josh has mentioned it to his superiors but obviously thats as far as it goes. Not putting stock out is basically a form of employee theft. Instead of Kmart getting a $60 sale, they get nothing and the customer just moves on to the next retailer and perhaps never returns as consumers are creatures of habit.

How this can continue to happen in a down economy is even worse. I know if I was an executive at Kmart and told my managers about this and it continues to happen time after time, they would be looking for work. Obviously these store managers arent doing their job.

I think that between PSN still being down, the relatively negative reviews, lack of stock on the floor, and the coupon delay problem, this week will hurt Brink's numbers quite a bit.

This is literally a game that almost needs people to blindly buy it on hype alone, because anything that delays that purchase decision gives them time to think about it and be influenced by the current online opinions of it.

Wouldnt be surprised if we saw some sort of Legal Issues popping up between Sony and some of these companies soon.

Thanks to the efforts of all the SHC employees here on CAG I have made my last nine release day purchases at K-Mart. Once right at opening (Pokemon B/W) and all the other after I get off of work around 5pm. In every case the product was not on the shelf.

That being said, the employees working electronics were very helpful in locating the box in the back and bringing it out. The associate even mentioned how he tried to get "permission" to get product on the shelf for release but was otherwise discouraged by his management.

I say all this because sometimes it is not the associate at the counter who is at fault for not having the shelves properly stocked.

One side note, anytime I mention the blog in store or that the promotion I am asking for is posted on the forum or blog I get funny looks. When I asked about the MK t-shirt after purchasing the game I explained it was posted on the K-Mart Gamer blog and the lady made a comment like I need to "talk to my friend" about it. She was not being rude or inconsiderate, I think she genuinely was confused or thought my friend in the company gave me secret insider info.

My biggest challenge with purchasing anything in retail these days is that the employees are not knowledgeable about their own products and services. This is not exclusive to K-Mart. Every retailer has these issues, but thanks to the SHC crew I have hope for K-Mart and right now I will continue to give them my business.

My store is good with getting the new releases out on time, but you're right. If they don't want to dedicate an employee to electronics, at least have someone who completes all electronics tasks first, followed by whatever else they need the employee to do.

I mean, it's opening a box. And moving stuff. :) Poor Josh.

I was wondering if this would happen as well, However, my guess is that Sony has certain safeguards in effect via the contract between sony and the publishers to prevent this from happening.

On a side note, If you are unsure of whether to get Brink or not, after playing it for a few hours (and not being able to play on psn) it has been a pretty good game. Reminds me a lot of Killzone both graphically and gameplay wise, also you have the different classes etc. I'm excited to play this game online, seems like a good team oriented game.

It'd be interesting to see Brinks PS3 vs Xbox sales figures and compare it to other multi platform releases like Bulletstorm or Homefront to get an idea of how the PSN being down is effecting sales.

Aside from shooters being much more popular on xbox to start with, those 2 titles had a substantial reason to buy it on xbox. They may not be the best comparison.

Ugh. Not only did my coupon not print, but my $25 in SYWR bonus points from buying MvC3 disappeared (leaving the actual accumulated bonus credit of $13.30, but not the $25 that the game had given me that showed on the receipt). Did those points expire or something? Guess I need to email Josh.

Yeah that's true at least for Bulletstorm. Forgot about the Gears beta...did Homefront also come with something? Or maybe it was better on Xbox?

Well if there was any way to be at all accurate in figuring the sales drop from the PS3 being down it would be interesting to see.

Instead of rewarding the customer for poor customer service you should punish the store. It's kind of sad to say it but it is to the point now to where several customers think its normal for new releases to not be out. From reading the thread it seems like a lot of people consider great customer service to be walking into electronics, waiting a short time for an employee to open the case and get them game out and be on their way. That to me is just providing customer service.

Plus this program could be very easily exploited. People could take pictures of the case on Monday before the game would even be out. They could call the store and just write down the name of the employee who answered the phone and say they confirmed it wasn't in stock. Heck you could easily even trap an employee into saying the game wasn't in.
Customer : "Brink isn't in the case does that mean it's not available?"
Employee : "Your correct now excuse me while I hide again."

Could you pull the stats on stores and see which ones have continued no sales of new releases game on release day or the day after? Then you could send someone from SHC or even a CAG that is close to the store to find out if they are putting out the games or not. If you sent a CAG that way then you could reward them if you wanted to.

Stores that are consistently putting out new release titles should be recognized somehow. Maybe recognize them by giving them a call and telling them you appreciate the hard work they are doing in improving the game sales.

A program I think would be beneficial is a "CAG Secret Shopper Program". From people submitting information to Stockboy wanting to reserve CE I'm sure you could get a good idea on which CAGs are near certain stores then you could select some of them to be secret shoppers.

I'd agree with this but there's probably only so much Josh can do on that end. I'm sure he'd like to go choke someone out every time he hears these horror stories but in reality he can only do so much. It really sucks though because it's obviously a huge waste of Joshs time having to take care of everyone else's issues that shouldn't be issues to begin with.

I do agree with finding out which stores are and aren't a problem. I can safely say store 4423 in IL is not an issue at all really so it can be crossed off the list.

The worst I can say is that they don't have the games out at store opening (which really would be bettter), instead they get them out the morning of release at least from the couple times I've been there very early. I've had no problem going in at open though and asking someone about them and then getting them from the back.

Re: Out of Stock Program Thingy
Couldn't you institute online ordering / in store pickup for video games? You won't get a 100% accurate picture of the out of stock situation, but if we online order a game and they really really don't have it, they'll be forced to give a negative response to the computer system / order request before the customer comes in. Then the item and associate number are recorded. If the game is in stock, it gives the associate some incentive to bring the rest of the copies out to the floor. At least I "hear" that's how it works at "some" stores. I wouldn't have any idea about that. :whistle2:\"

Its supposed to have a bonus mp map. That's all I think

Just a thought... Everyone that has issues with finding games on release day should call the store's DM and complain. Or maybe post the stores info and everyone here can call all the DMs and complain.
I know people in my store bend over backwards when our DM is coming to down.

I went to the brookfield store on my way to school to get resident evil darkside chronicles. They may have sold out of the xbox one but i only saw the PS3 version of brink on the shelf. Another guy came through looking for lego pirates on PC which I didn't think they carried but there was no one there to help him anyway so he just left.

I finally had the guy paged and he was working in home and garden, and immediately after ringing up was called up front to help someone else - it felt like he was one of about 5 employees in the store and was being paged to do everything going on in the store. Its not always the fault of the individual employees.

Didn't help that every other employee I saw seemed to be a 50 year old lady who didn't want to be there, lol. Guess that's why he's being called around everywhere whenever there's work to be done.

This, I have limited ability to actually correct a location. Documenting and forwarding to operations is my real lever.

Josh, did the SYWR points from the MvC3 promotion expire? As I posted on the last page, I lost that $25 credit (and I was counting on using it today).

If it's any consolation to Josh or anyone, the two stores I frequent have never had any problems with putting out games on time, or had weird issues with coupons save for possibly today.

for those of you looking for a positive spin on brink, check out the Sixth Axis:
http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2011/05/10/review-brink/

they're my favorite source for reviews, and generally pride themselves on spending a lot of time with a game before reviewing it. it certainly seems to address many of the issues that joystiq had -- but with a very different take on it.

i actually find myself agreeing with their reviews in general, which i can't say for most review sites. that said, i'm probably not picking up brink simply because it's not my type of game... but this review actually makes me kind of want it.

Like after a year or something or if something was returned that was the cause of the points.

Hmmm - see lots of people looking for (and some finding ;)) Brink. Anyone find Lego Pirates? Coupon ring up OK on that one? I was thinking of going out this evening to get it.

That is good news.

To be honest there are a tremendous amount of good stores out there. But there is enough as well that I could never call us a good retailer at the moment.

We may put out great deals but if the experience itself sucks, then we suck. And I do not like sucking......

Josh, I read an article in the Chicago Tribune today that SHC is threatening to pull their HQ out off Hoffman Estates. You worried about possibly leaving the land of Lincoln?

I saw the wii version at least - wasn't looking for it though. It may have been in the case for all systems.

I went to Brookfield, WI KMart, no coupon printed out for POTC. Didn't bother arguing, just returned it. Used SYWR. People up front babbled something about "It might be an online only deal"

lol wow. I was at this store like 2 hours ago, and this is the same one that told me last week "we aren't printing coupons at this store anymore".

Guess my concern was valid. Hope i don't have to start driving 20 min out to waukesha (the best store in the area) just because brookfield now is as crappy as west allis..
Josh, the coupons didn't print out for me either... ugh... I just started shopping at Kmart too. :/
I'll be adding a buff like I did with Motorstorm on this one just as a heads. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience. I'll make sure everyone is taken care of.

The front end mgr Donna and the store manager Darlene are working with me to resolve it. I'm planning on goin to the store Thursday to do a return and rebuy. (I just hope they remember to save the 45 and 15 coupons i used on the transaction)

I just got home from Kmart, My 20$ from Brink didn't print either, if only i check this thread earlier I would have know to wait till tomorrow :(, I have nothing but bad luck buying from Kmart and the coupons

D'oh - didn't see all that.

Well, I'm going out today, not tomorrow. Kmart is a 40 mile round trip and I'm heading that way anyway this evening. I'll just have to count on Josh to make good on it I guess - first time for me.

so, has SHC said if there is going to be any games on sale for $19.99 next week to use with the free $20 game with L.A. Noire? i'll probably just pick up Metro, but i was just curious...

Just giving my .02 today. Went into KMart today to get Lego PotC for PS3. I would have grabbed Brink as well had the whole PS3 fiasco not happened. I picked it up on Steam instead (decent game, shouldn't have bought it though). As always, new releases were in the glass case with the appropriate price tags on things. I didn't check clearance section cause I'll worry about that next week when I buy LA Noire. Coupon from PotC printed off fine. Everything without a hitch.

I've not bought any new games for a good while now......I went to get the LEGO Pirates for my kids with the intent to use the coupon next week on L.A. Noire........

What do we need to do if the coupon didn't print when I bought the LEGO Pirates game today?
Can anyone confirm today if the price drops we mentioned are working today?
I stopped at two stores this evening (both in Metro Detroit). I scanned the UPCs for both versions of the 360 Beatles Rock Band bundles. At one store, both came up $79.99, at the other, both were still $99.99. Neither bundle scanned at the reduced $49.97 price at either location. Same as yesterday, in other words.

Side note, I've seen several copies of the "Value" Beatles bundle, but none of the "Limited" bundle at all. Did Kmart even really carry the "Limited" bundle? Any chance you could check if there are any in stock at any Detroit-area stores? If it's not too much to ask, of course!

Thanks, and thanks for trying to get these price drops activated!

think that josh said they have to be rung up, not just price checked because it's listed as a promotional event and not a price drop in general, not sure tho - someone earlier got some of the price dropped games for the right price
