That was awful. But there's only about 2 guys in all of ECW with any mic skills, and Elijah Burke is one of them.

Said sadly, most of ECW's roster either:

A. Has no mic skills
B. Has no in-ring skills
C. Has no charisma
D. A & B
E. A & C
F. B & C
G. All of the above

I used to have a professor that gave tests like that, so much for process of elimination...
 
Seriously though...if his name is spelled "Marquis", NOBODY interpreted it as "Mar-cus", especially with the last name "Cor Von".

I just figured he was French.

Then again, he basically botched his own new finisher. It seemed like an Indian Rug Burn at first, and wound up being a basic armbar. Sorry, Vince, but if he looks like Lashley and wrestles like Rodney Mack, this is a problem.

Is it just me, or are Monty Brown's arms abnormally short?

Also, they should have called him the Alpha Male and left off the Marquis Don Juan or whatever the hell his name is.

They'll change his music. Almost all newcomers get the music runaround for the first month or so.

His promo was average. By ECW standards it was great, but that's not saying much. The mocking "what" face he made was probably the highlight, and also probably the thing the people backstage told him was bad ("ignore it, otherwise it just encourages it" or some nonsense).

TERRIBLE, awkward finisher. Just let him be a Goldberg clone with the Pounce as the setup, then give him some weird slam/throw as his finisher. As long as he does decent interviews once in a while he'll be ok. I couldn't care less what his name is, but the fact that he didn't rub his forehead on the top rope was a fucking shame. And yeah, he looked a lot less "cut" than he did in TNA. Because of the wellness policy? Because of the knee injury? Maybe both.


The Kevin Thorn promo was awesome and brought back the old days of the Royal Rumble...Thorn has 29 black roses for 'em, just like Tugboat had 29 life preservers, Undertaker had 29 caskets, etc.

and please god wwe fix the wrong you have done to monty.... the alpha male would have been better..... and he didnt say PERIOD!!
 
Marquis is going to be huge - if they fix his name and simply call him The Alpha Male or return the flavor of Monty Brown. Either way, a fued between him and Punk has the potential to be huge and I actually wouldn't be surprised if they moved him to RAW post-Wrestlemania, especially since Triple H is now gone. If The Alpha Male goes over as well as I think he does, I wouldn't be surprised if WWE raided more of TNA's talent.

And Bobby Lashley needs to never speak again. He sounds like a stripped down version of the kid in the wheelchair in Malcolm in the Middle.

Because Vis is big and funny. He's a tough out in theory, so someone they're looking to build up can toss him out.

I miss surprise entries too; however, of the recent Rumble matches, I thougth 03 kinda sucked. Way too predictable that Lesnar was winning. Now 04 on the other hand, that was great.

I'm guessing Kelly flashed away from the camera, but I missed it.

Finally, the reason Stryker is winning is because he's up against Elijah Burke, Tazz, Balls Mahoney and Mike Knox. With over 50K votes in this Knox's failure to even hold 1% of the vote is disturbing. WWE should look to releasing him or teaming him with Snitsky if they're forming an ECW tag division ever. Tazz's 10% is kinda low too, shows you that he really isn't worth shit at this point. Good luck getting more money Tazz! I like that Burke is in 2nd though, he really just needs to work on his in-ring set and he'll be good.

I never had a problem with Arquette, just the WCW writers/management. Actually it could have been a lot worse...Arquette gave the money he made in WCW to the famlies of Pillman and Owen Hart, if I remember correctly.

The fact that he had a "former WCW champion" sign is awesome. I want pics.

I was looking for a vid for my "Jumping Failure Thread" and I revisited the vid of Vic falling on New Jacks head. That was fucking brutal. That part of ECW I can do without. I mean, "holy shit" moments are nice an all, but those guys in ECW cheated death more times than I can count.
 
Some of them are on the first Best of the Bloodiest Brawls DVD. I doubt they'll ever be released nationally, as some guys wore ECW shirts, which WWE would never let them get away with now.

Hardcore Holly is injured again, this time nerve damage in his arm.

It's time to fucking hang it up...he's got nothing left to prove, he's never going to be "world champion" or whatever and it's obvious that arm is really fucked up. This is like the third or fourth time he's been out because of it.
