L4D - The Sacrifice by Oct 5 1&2 - Gen. Discussion & Info -
Yeah, I've had that happen a couple of times. Once on the Parish I was in low gravity and another time I was on top of the mall atrium with several tanks. Another time I was in hard rain and there were like 20 witches that had spawned.
I've had the thing with witches happen like twice now. I just stopped playing online because it began to piss me off.

Personally, I find it hilarious. Also, on the rare occasion where you get one of the modders who will actually talk to people, they'll help you win if you're on expert. If the connection hadn't been lost when I was playing through on The Parish, I'd have that one on expert under my belt.

There were a lot of witches when I played Hard Rain with anteis24. The guy who was playing as Coach kept intentionally scaring them. I don't think it was modded though.

Sounds very familiar...
But in my case, it didn't seem to be too crazy. Most I've seen are like 4-5 witches.

Although having the the 1 person that runs up ahead isn't too fun either... I think next time that happens I'll let them die.
Tired of wasting meds on someone that wans to do things solo.

Anyways I'll be on after 9:30ish if anyone wants to play Dark Carnival. I still need the achievement for that and Gnome Chompski... although I have no clue where he even is...
I should be on around 10ish. There's a SMALL chance I won't be on, but if I am, I will definitely help you get the achievement.
PST or EST?

I'd like to get another L4D2 game goin'...

I can be a four- DOH!

Oh well, I'll be around if someone ends up not showing up. Is this 10PM EST? If so, I'll try to be online so you guys can send me a friend request if desired.

Do you need (or care about) any of the dark carnival achievements (aside from clear on expert)? I already have them all so I'll gladly step aside to let someone on the team that actually needs them.
Damn right.

I hope to be on 9 PM PST.
Haha, it's actually because, and this is gonna make me sound like a complete nerd, but my friends and I play this card game called Ninja Burger, and one of them just got the expansion pack, and we're playing at the coffee shop they work at after they close, and they close at 11 (EST). So I'm assuming we'll probably play at least an hour and a half, which would land me online at around 1 a.m. EST

Nah, not really. I don't usually play for achievements, but I don't mind helping others out so long as it doesn't end up being a ridiculously long/boring ordeal (the gnome achievement should be fine since all it requires is someone to carry it while playing normally).

Army, I accepted your friend request. Other people here, I'd love to join you in the near future if possible. I can't tonight, but I would like to soon.

The games have been pretty ad-hoc, which is fine. Anyone interested in a regular schedule? Wednesday 10pm EST?

I'm going through withdrawals. Long days at work this past week, I'd come home, eat and pretty much pass out. I need to shoot some zombies in their stupid zombie faces.

I'd like a regular schedule. Tried to play last night with IceBlueShoes but got nowhere due to connection problems (he couldn't join my games, i couldn't join his games). Just ended up playing with randoms for half an hour then called it a night.

Didn't manage to get on last night :(

But Ninja Burger? Let's keep certain things to our ourselves :)

Any word on when the new DLC is coming, I just bought both titles and want to play through them in one shot, would wait for the extra content if it was reasonably soon.

Valve says "next week"

Worlds Collide!

April 16, 2010 - L4D Team

Celebrating the pending release of "The Passing" and the Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 2 teams colliding, we have a few other world colliding events to announce.

First up, the Midnight Riders collide with Rock Band. The gang over at Harmonix have released two Midnight Riders's songs for Rock Band! You can check them out here and download them in game to play in the comfort of your own home. "The Passing" will feature a brand new slow power ballad; "Save Me Some Sugar".

What happens when a 1939 film classic collides with Left 4 Dead? Check out Agnostes' awesome Left 4 Dead campaign poster he made for a Wizard of Oz concept art contest to find out.

What happens when Half-Life 2: Episode one collides with Left 4 Dead 2? Mixmedia's City 17. Alyx would be proud.

What about TF2 and L4D2 colliding? That would be Jsparakov's Badwater Basin map. And for worlds colliding into worlds colliding, check-out TF2's and Sam & Max's collision currently going on.

So enough worlds colliding, when is "The Passing" coming out? Well... if it was coming out next week we would say right here - Left 4 Dead 2's The Passing is coming out next week and we will be updating the blog next week with more news on the release. There you go.

Even though I haven't been able to join in yet- I hope to do so this coming Wednesday- that is the exact date and time of the CAG Perfect Dark (XBLA) night. Seeing as how I rarely get to play that with friends, I'll be on PD. But essentially any other night is fine. Not trying to dissuade anyone from playing that night; I just won't be able to join at that specific time.

That being said, what the hell is up with the AI in this game? I know the game is meant to be played with human teammates, but the AI worked very well for me in the first L4D. In this game, it's like I'm playing with three clones of Helen Keller.

They do things like stand in the middle of an oncoming hoard rather than running to the safe room when I'm already in it and they're 20 feet away, and God help me if I ever get caught by a smoker or, even worse, a jockey. They can be right fucking next to me and net lend the slightest bit of help. I don't often get angry at games, but I was literally yelling- well not screaming or anything, but raising my voice- at the TV going, "Do something, you God damn retards!"
sweet can't wait for the dlc. So who else is getting it?
I'll be up early Wednesday (or whatever day it's released) and playing it probably as soon as it's done downloading.

Hey guys, just so we don't keep going around in circles how about we all post what days and times would be ideal to play L4D2? This shouldn't shoehorn into other activities and I think it wouldn't be good to have people put down times that might simply be okay (if there's really no overlap then we can start making concessions I guess). Just post whatever hours you'd be free to play for...it's not going to necessarily reflect how long we'll play in one particular session. There aren't a lot of us here talking about playing online, but those of us that do seem to post pretty actively. We really should be able to get some regular night going. For me:

M-F: 8:30pm - 12:30am EST
Saturday: 8:00pm - whenever EST
Sunday: 8:00pm - 12:00 EST

I'm on Pacific time, for the record. There will be exceptions, namely the times when Kings hockey, Dodgers baseball, or Bulls/Lakers playoff games are on. I DVR most stuff, but I have to watch sports live.

That being said, I can't do Wednesday nights if I'll be joining the CAGs for Perfect Dark, and Fridays are CAG hockey team play nights.

So basically:

Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 6 or 7 P.M. Eastern till whenever I get tired
Wednesday: 6 till 7 Eastern, and then whenever we end up finishing Perfect Dark.
Friday: 6 or 7 Eastern till 8 Eastern.

Of course, I won't be online all the time during my available hours. But when I'm home, I generally check CAG and my Xbox.com friend list/messages regularly.

^^ You said you're on Pacific time, but you specified those times are Eastern. I just wanted to make sure this is the case? If true, you'd mainly be free in the mid-afternoon for you then, correct?

I specified Eastern time since that seems to be the time zone that most people here are in. Yes, I am on Pacific time. I can play starting in the afternoon going by Pacific time, but like I said, every day except for Wednesday and Friday, I can play through the rest of the night if I am home.

I'm fine with either of those, but prefer weekends...
Just let me know...

I prefer to play on weekends as well maybe 5-8PM PST. I'm already involved in another game night so Wed and Fri are pretty much booked for me.

I'm on randomly as well, so anyone who wants to play can join me.

I just got this in from Game Stop today and waiting for the sun to go down to start playing :)

Expert right off the bat...hopefully I can find some more intelligible and talented random teammates than when I previously owned L4D2.

Damnit the game isn't running properly. At first I thought it was the disc but I switched out for a near mint one and its still all laggy (single player included). Must be my Xbox or the update data.

I think these are the times still available for a regular scheduled game (based on everyone's posted comments):
Saturday: 8pm+ (2 have stated as a preference)
Sunday: 8pm+ (2 have stated as a preference)
Monday: 8:30pm+
Tuesday: 8:30pm+
Thursday: 8:30pm+
(all time EST)

I propose Sunday at 8pm. Any conflicts, objections, suggestions, questions, comments, lamentations?

Sunday at 8 works for me.

I could also be on at 8pm for some L4D2 action, if a fourth is needed. I still need to beat all of the campaigns on expert. If we end up with more than 4, I also highly recommend some scavenge rounds!

feel free to add me to the list as well.

the new "Mutations" idea seems like a ton of fun.

Versus is now given support for bot-controlled Infected, a new type of zombie (the fallen survivor), the M60, the golf club melee weapon, and a new co-op challenge mode. There will be a lot to see and do.

The content pack will also add support for a new feature called "Mutations," a weekly bit of content that changes how the game is played. "These week-long runs of new gameplay modes range from 'Realism Versus' mode to 'Chainsaw Massacre,' which gives all players chainsaws with an unlimited supply of gasoline," Valve explains. "There are over 20 Mutations planned, each playable on all L4D2 Campaigns." You'll need the content pack to access the Mutations.

Realism versus is going to be a bunch of ass-rapings.
tomorrow we find out which L4D character dies
Rochelle and Bill can both die cause nobody wants to play as either of them.
