LEGO Deals 2

My Kmart LEGO aisle has been overflowing with old sets. I went in today to see if anything had been moved to clearance. One Hero Factory Furno Bike. C'mon Kmart, move the old Atlantis and HP sets already!

Awesome. Now I get to shop at another Lego store when I head to San Diego for Christmas.

I got a card in the mail that indicated that double VIP points for October. I'll see if I can find the card again and see if it is all month or only a week.

I actually got a flyer/catalog that had it and it's all month.

Though paying shipping... it just doesn't make sense.... but of course if it's in store, with those that have them... congrats.

It is all month and thanks xycury I got the same mini catalog.

I also noted that in celebration of Legoland Florida all VIP members get free admission to LegoLand from Oct 24-30th. Limit of 2 per house hold.

Have you guys seen this? Seems cool, but I don't think I'll be getting it.

10230 Mini Modulars
Ages 12+. 1,356 pieces.
US $79.99

These are cool, but I would have prefered a re-release of the first 3 Modular sets instead for VIP members. I really hope TLG will consider this for the future.

I'm curious to see how these will be sold. S@H only? E-mail invite?

I got the Lego catalog recently, and it had a 10% off one item (in store only) coupon on it. So of course, I had to see if it was usable on the Super Star Destroyer (it was). I also had to look foolish trying to figure out of 10% off was better or worse than double VIP points in October (hint - they're the same). I also got the October calendar, which has free sets with $75 purchase (red apple, first half of Oct) and $99 (Christmas tree and minifig thing) for the second half of October. Looks like I'll be going back to pick up the Unimog at double VIP.

Oh yeah, I know the SSD will surely get a $100+ price drop at some point... I just wasn't ready to risk missing out on it.

As cool as it is, I don't see it being worth the $80.00. And since it's a VIP exclusive, it's unlikely it will ever be on sale or clearance for cheaper than that.

At say...$60, I would have probably bought it.

Not terribly exciting but does have a nice price / piece ratio.
Not terribly exciting but does have a nice price / piece ratio.
Technically, its a nice price/piece ratio but when you take into account there's a LOT of tiny pieces making this up, it kind of loses its impact. Its kind of like the Architecture line...

I used the 10% off coupon recently and still got the regular VIP points with the purchase. Wouldn't that be better combined than the double VIP points? (I still have no idea how much the points represent)

If the 10% coupon Multicron mentioned is from the September catalog, then it expires on 9/30. It won't be usable with the double VIP points in October.

100 VIP points = $5 credit for use on a future purchase. So, if you bought the SSD for its MSRP, you'd get 399 VIP points, which is a point shy of $20 in credit. Double VIP points would get you 798 VIP points, which is just shy of $40 in credit. If you used the 10% off coupon, you would get 359 VIP points ($15 credit) and save $40 out of pocket.

Just had something weird happen. I put an order in for some missing parts from the set 6210. Usually, I receive an email stating how much the parts would cost shipped to me. I got home from work and the lego parts that I ordered were in the mail. I don't remember paying for them. The letter that accompanied the legos states that the pieces cost "blank" amount and a standard shipping fee of $2.95 will also be added to the bill. In addition, there is a invoice with the pieces and cost of each.

Did lego hook me up?

Sometime LEGO "makes" you pay for missing pieces. They will send you the parts free, and then have the bill with them and it's up to you if you want to pay really.

However I never got a bill, never had to pay for shipping or any parts. However I haven't had to use the system sense 2008 I think.

I've never gotten a bill for missing parts. The prices are always zeroed out. They're superdooperlicious about making their customers happy after they've paid an outrageous price for their plastic.

I think he was saying, not that a new set he bought was missing some pieces from the box, but rather that he was purchasing from LEGO some replacement parts for a set he either owned or bought used/opened, and was therefore surprised that they came free.

Either way, LEGO is awesome and even if you informed them of the mistake they'd probably just say not to worry about it.

I wish I knew double VIP points was coming out. I bought big ticket items already like the SSD, the Unimog and the new VW bus

For the first week of Bricktober.

Free Ninja Princess minifigure magnet with Lego purchase of $20 or more.

All Lego sets and board games are on sale, I'm guessing 10% off as usual.

The following sets will be 30% off

Deep Sea Raider
Space Shuttle
Power Boat Transporter
City Of Atlantis
Space Center
Fishing Boat
Atlantis Treasure (Game)
Ninjago (Game)
Earth Defense HQ
Alien Mothership
Mill Villiage Raid
King's Carriage Ambush
Lego Champion (Game)
Fire Temple
Skull Truck
Anikin & Sebulba's Podracers
Millennium Falcon
Heroica Castle Fortaan (Game)

Also a coupon in the ad for free $10 Geoffrey Bucks with $75 purchase.

How is the Heroica Castle Fortaan game? Looking to get a few new board games and this seems to be up my friends' taste.

Right, your last method there is what I was suggesting. Not to mention you'd also save a few bucks on tax.

I knida like them as individual buildings (bottom pic). But when they are put together as a row I'm not to crazy about them.

Did you all see this on Amazon? http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Star-Wars-Advent-Calendar/dp/B004Z24R8K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317308446&sr=8-1
Any thoughts on if its a good deal or not? I recently saw someone offering the same but with 2011 ComicCon packaging for $90 on Craigslist.

I saw a huge (entire 4 ft. section, top to bottom, full) display of the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar at Walmart priced at $39.97 the other day. I'm thinking this won't be as difficult to find as we were initially led to believe. I also was able to add 999 to my cart on amazon with no problem.

While you guys discuss the methods of getting a good deal on the Super Star Destroyer, I'm over here scraping together enough money to finish Series 5.

Someone direct me to Poor Ass Gamer, haha.

Nearly every $20 set was marked $15 at my local Wal Mart. Pharoh's Quest Flying Mummy Attack, City/Space Satellite Truck, Alien Conquest Tripod Walker, City Prisoner Transport.

Not a super deal, but there you go.

Yup; I just wanted to explain the points. In other words, you were entirely correct in your assessment. :)

I wish my walmart would do this grr!

Amazon has been doing that for months and with free shipping without the $25 min.

Just scored massively at Target.

Just got Lego POTC The London Escape 4193 for $11 and some change. Very pleased. Wasn't even marked clearance, just had a hunch and scanned it.
Also, supposedly TRU's Bricktober magnets are glued...not that it's TOO surprising.
I don't know about this one. I put away a few sets for myself and some co-workers but didn't open any yet to check them out.

Has anyone used the free Lego Digital Designer to design a set, but created a parts list without buying it through Lego's site? I've been playing around with it a bit and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to make a parts list unless you just do it visually after you have it create instructions.

I did buy a instruction set off eBay from someone who designed a replica of the Sydney, Australia Apple Store. They made a parts list and I plan on acquiring the pieces as I see them.

They are glued, they are always glued.

Not to step on Prim's toes, but LEGO released some more info about Bricktober on Eurobricks.

Cars 2 Event Cruises Into “Bricktober” at Toys“R”Us Stores Nationwide
Merging Cars 2 and “Bricktober,” Toys“R”Us stores will help kids “Race Around the World” during special Cars 2 events on Saturday, October 15 from 2-4 pm. During the event, kids can build and decorate their own version of Rod “Torque” Redline – the greatest American spy in the world! And, attention race fans, Rod “Torque” Redline is not available in any Cars 2 LEGO sets and can only be found during this event.
Interesting about the $10 certificate...I would assume that you have to spend $150 in one transaction, but it isn't 100% clear.

The Cars 2 exclusive thing seems kinda interesting since it kinda screws over adult collectors. Still kinda cool, I suppose.

Thanks to who ever pointed out the $15 sets at WM, picked up a few and scanned Queen Anns Revenge and it was stuck at $120.

Definitely going to take my daughter to that event, need to get there early!!!!
Probably not much left but Kmart is having additional 50% off clearance toys.
yeah I was just about to post this....

looks like nothing was left. I searched too, but nothing.

But I did notice that Kmart has a full 3 sections, kicking out megabloks for aisle space.

means hopefully alot of discounts when no one buys them :D

I'm guessing everyone here has seen the pic of all 16 Series 6 minifigures. If that image is legit I need to start socking away some money. I'm gonna need doubles and triples of a few of those.

Hard to believe - but I found some series 3 this evening at Wal Mart ...along with a .Hack game. :whistle2:k

Just throwing this out there - I missed Series 1 completely - are you guys getting these older minifigs through Bricklink? It seems to be the only sorta-kinda reasonable place to get them.

Does anyone have a scan of the Geoffrey Dollars coupon or the code on it? I don't live close to the TRU I am considering going to to get some LEGO sets so I didn't get a print ad and the coupon isn't showing up for me online even though it's in the picture of the ad in my email. Thanks to anyone that can help.
