+2, although I do luck out at the Lego Store quite frequently.
Yeah you live near an LEGO Outlet Store, there are like three on the planet, no complaining for you.
At Fred Meyers (and I assume other Marketplace-type stores in the Kroger family), they have an ad coupon for 25% off "today's prices" on ALL toys, with no limit. I took advantage of the "today's prices" part of the coupon, as they already had a few sets on sale: Prince of Persia 7572 Quest Against Time was already $34.99 (reg. $49.99) plus the additional 25% off made it only $26.24, and the IJ Venice Canal Chase was on sale for $27.99 (reg. $39.99), making it only $20.99 . I love sweet deals like this! FYI, the only other sets that I remember were on sale were the SP Freeze Ray Frenzy for $5.99 (reg. $9.99) and a Duplo Fire Station for $39.99 (reg. $59.99)
Look out for the Minifigures there too. I heard FM has been getting them lately and that some stores have them sitting on the shelves for days.
Is the shipping charge removed once they actually charge your card? When I ordered it shipping was included into the total despite it clearly stating the shipping is free on orders of $25 or more.
Yeah it's a bit confusing because when I ordered something, non lego, it was showing me shipping charges all the way through.

Though on my email confirmation it was removed... so they shouldn't charge you.

:oops:Sorry guys, some people have told me they couldn't find the Fred Meyer coupon anywhere in their ads, so I looked closer at mine and noticed it was only good for that one store - they had recently completely remodeled and this extra ad flyer was for their "Grand Re-opening Specials". Big YMMV...my sincere apologies.:wall: And yes, it is true that Fred Meyer has been getting the Minifigures: they disappear within 24 hours, but they are getting them...

Went to Target today found Lego City Garage for $69 and change and they had some of their Star wars at %30 off.
Hmm, I'm crossing my fingers that TRU will run an August promotion with the white Boba. I know for sure that LEGO isn't going to be putting them in random sets and I believe the white boba was distributed in Europe during the release of Slave 1, so I'm crossing my fingers that you guys get in a separate shipment with the figures next month .. but who can say for sure I guess.
There will be a figure give away in August, from what I read, it is a Clone Trooper mini figure(free with any Lego Star Wars purchase).

Here's to hoping they don't know what they're talking about and it's actually the white Boba?

I'm willing to bet 90% that it will be and here's my reasoning - check this out -

If you weren't Star Wars aware (which I have to assume TRU corporate may not be) and saw that package, you might just assume it's another Clone Trooper due to the image on the top of the bag.

Plus, as far as I know, LEGO has no individually bagged clone trooper figures that have been out in public ... soooo ... fingers crossed!

Saw that Target put more Lego sets on clearance like some of you guys have seen here too. Picked up the Venator-class Republic Cruiser for $84. Also saw the Galactic Enforcer and Titanium Command Rig for $70 each. All Ben 10 and Bionicle stuff on 30% off clearance as well as the POP stuff.

DCPI for the Venator is 204-00-0220. Now I just need to find a Temple of Doom set.

Also saw that Wal-mart put out a few World Racers sets (the 3 smallest) and the new green tanker truck. Their Lego section always looks like it was just thrown together...the tanker was in the SW section?

I also saw a Venator on clearance at Target, though it was not tagged with a price.

Interesting anecdote: the box at Target had been opened, and inside were several ziploc bags of unrelated LEGO bricks! Furthermore, I noticed at TRU that their remaining Venator boxes had anti-tamper security ribbons around them. What is that about?

In my area, Lego theft is pretty huge right now for all retailers. I've actually seen guys try to take a couple baskets out of the store filled with $100+ sets.

Yeah, prime4444 is dead on...I was at two different TRU's today and they both had the new SW sets out today. Clone Tank for $120, Slave One $80, Emperor's Shuttle $60, General Grievious's ship $50, Wampa Cave $40, and Jedi Starfighter $25. Resisted the urge to buy most but I really wanted the snowspeeder and my son wants the Wampa so we got that set. Also saw the TRU truck for $40 I think and the new train sets for $130 and $180.

Hey prime, did your store get the series two minifigs in store yet? I thought they might go out with the second wave of summer sets.

I'm tempted to buy the $180 train set with the BOGO 50% off coupon, but I don't really feel like selling one of them.

Prim4444, if I were to go back and try to return the full price set, would they take it back and refund me the full price or only refund me the price for the 50% off one?

The Star Wars sets are the only new sets we have gotten in. Maybe this week, I might start seeing some of the new stuff.

The refund process will automatically default to the lowest price on the receipt. It can easily be changed to any purchase price that is on that particular receipt. It would all depend on who you get to do your return and if they would allow it.

I've done it plenty of times when we do our B2G1 video game sale for exchanges when someone buys 3 copies of the same game.
Also saw the TRU truck for $40
I think that is a price mistake, so if you want it I'd buy it now.

Any opinions on which of the new train sets is the better value? I like the look of the of the Cargo Train better, but it's $50 more than the Passenger Train, with only about 170 pieces more. It looks like it comes with more track however, but I still am not seeing why it would be $50 more. Is there something else that I'm not seeing?

$40 is the MSRP for the TRU truck.

However, I'll bet my store's in-store price will be more because things are marked up where I live. :(
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4057240

I think it's retail which isn't surprising considering the yellow Lego truck set is $32.99.

Sure it'll be 43.99 next week, but that's just TRU for ya.
I thought it was supposed to be $50. $5 more for a building and two more mini figures is a steal.

If they have a B2G1 free I'll get the TRU truck, the new airplane and something else.

Are those prices TRU taxed or is that going to be msrp at other retailers? I might budge for a few sets, I know I tell myself no don't buy wait. But lets get real, when your standing in front of new sets it's really hard to say no.

Probably MSRP as that is what TRU usually starts out with and then they adjust the prices in a week or two.

Yeah, it was hard not to buy the Slave One set but in a month or two they will all be at Target and Walmart. Not to mention prime4444 said there would be some kind of SW sale or giveaway in late July or August.

My son had no problem with me spending $120 on the Clone Tank so that he could get the Cad Bane minifig...I, however, did have a problem with that!

Just curious but is there like a Lego minifig trading thread somewhere on here that I'm missing? My son really wants the space man and the robot but haven't been able to find it. I wouldn't mind picking up some extras to complete my set either.

I saw a couple more sets on clearance at Target, though 180husher probably beat me to it :)

Power Miners Magma Mech (8189) 30% off, a couple of Ben 10 figures at 30% off and the another one of those racers sets at 50% off. I still haven't seen the Star Wars stuff on clearance though.

Aside from 7939-Cargo Train having more pieces and an additional minifig, the overall length of the train is a bit longer and it has more track (2 switch tracks and 8 straight tracks). 7938 - Passenger Train only has curved and flexible track.

The Cargo Train has more - It has the crane, a freight truck and 2 cars. If you don't care about that stuff and the other track pieces, then save $50 and go for the Passenger Train.

Personally, I've always been a fan of LEGO Train so I'm getting both and it would be even better If I can find these 2 at TRU to take advantage of the current promo.

Got my Medieval Market Village today and I'm fucking pissed. The box is completely caved in and torn in the corner. Not sure if there's anything I can do about it though without having to pay to ship it back to them for a refund. At that point i'm gonna be out $10 just to ship the fucker back to them. :bomb:.

Where did you order it from? Some companies will pay for return shipping if it's their fault.
Where did you order it from? Some companies will pay for return shipping if it's their fault.
Amazon

When I order larger sets from LEGO Shop@Home , they are almost always damaged or caved in because they put it in a box too large for the set, then pad it with overinflated airpacks which actually crush it down during shipment. For that reason, I always try to get a second large or medium size set in the same order, so that there won't be any room for those stupid airpacks. Even before I started doing this, I've never had one arrive as bad as RedVsBlue's though. Crushed, but never completely and never torn. I remember years ago trying to get a replacement for a badly damaged set and the customer service rep acted like I was crazy - in her mind it was just a kid's toy that should have the package tossed in the garbage anyway. It took some convincing, but she finally agreed to send me another one - I don't remember if I had to pay return shipping or not. Anyway, it is a big hassle to return stuff to them, so I never tried it again.
Amazon will ship a replacement and pay for return shipping since it was there fault. Have done this with a lot of items.
I see that now. The other time I did a return with Amazon I was required to pay for the return shipping so I assumed that applied in all situations. Thanks for the headsup, my replacement is already on the way, I just have to ship back the damaged item within 30 days.
My son had no problem with me spending $120 on the Clone Tank so that he could get the Cad Bane minifig...I, however, did have a problem with that!
Have him wait for Cad Bane's Speeder. It's a target exclusive, it comes with a good amount of minifigs for it's price, but it's lacking on pieces. I expect this to be a fairly hot item, considering it's from the Clone Wars show (not to mention the fact that it's a one-off and the collectors will have a freak-out after it's gone).

I'm not a Target employee, but since the street date for most of these new sets is August, I would expect to see it around that date, maybe sooner on S@H

Went to my Target on Outer Loop in Louisville and found Anakin's Y-Wing Starfighter reg $58.99 marked down to $41.28. I'm a Lego newbie and HAD to buy something. They had a few smaller Star Wars sets marked down as well, and some others that have already been mentioned here.

The minifigs are cool, but damn that's an ugly ship/speeder. It kinda reminds me of some of the plain Alternate Separatist Shuttle builds.

But isn't that the LEGO Star Wars theme in general? They've perfected the balance of crappy ship to cool minifigure like it's some sort of art.

Take for instance the new Grievous ship .... "WOW ... it comes with a new General Grievous ... and WOW it comes with a Mon Calamarian ... can it GET any BETTER!! Oh ... wait the ship looks like a giant, flying peni..."

If you have a penis that looks like that I suggest going to a doctor right away.

Is anything missing? One of the Green Grocers I got from TRU had a vertical cut/rip across the entire one side of the box. However, I decided to keep it since all the bags were still in there (compared them with the bags in one of the reviews on eurobricks.)

If you care about the box then you can just buy one on bricklink for $3 or so.

The way LEGO has been trending, you can buy most of the SW minifigs in magnets. The latest one LEGO released has Kit Fisto, Bariss Offee and Captain Jag. I won't be surprised if a future magnet has Cad Bane with a Senate Commando. Unless you really like the set or plan to do something with the pieces, I think magnets are the best way to go.

I can speak to getting several large sets from S&H extremely damaged. One time, the outer box was completely opened, and my large Space Police set was missing. I don't know whether the box was opened in transit and it fell out, or someone just plain stole it right off my front door. I managed to convince S&H to send me a replacement set, but that was the last straw. I now almost exclusively get all my Lego during the TRU B2G1 events.

Hmm, but isn't it true that the magnets are usually lower quality than the minifigures in the actual SW sets? I keep reading that on message boards, not sure if it's 100% accurate though.

Sounds like people talking bs to make people buy the star wars sets.

I went to Target today during lunch and they marked down the garage and the (8039) Venator Class Attack Cruiser at 30% off each. They only had one garage set, which I left, and four of the ships. I picked up two of them at $84 each.

I am pretty sure that is BS. For the last couple of years the magnet sets have been regular minifigs (previously they had magnets in the legs and were a lower quality figure). I have gotten several of the magnet sets and they are a great way of picking up some harder to find figs.

That's because LEGO now does the shipping from a third party fro mTN, and they are complete shit. I even talked to a store manager once on how they would cheap sending random shit to the store and not what was actually selling. The store once had almost nothing left and she was leaving to go drive up to another Boston area LEGO Store to get LEGOs!

I think it is true, things like games with minifigures (tic-tac-toe and chess) and prebuilt minifigures are now made in China which makes shit. I'm not sure if that is still the case.
