LEGO Deals

At first I was kind of put off by the trading aspect of the new minifig sets, but I do admit that the "What'd I get" aspect has its allure. Plus, knowing there is an online community (here or one of the many Lego fan sites) where I could trade makes it a more reasonable proposition (because I don't know anyone else personally who's into Legos).

I'd say the ideal price point would be $2.49, but I'm betting they go $2.99 or even $3.49. Depends on how many parts are in each pack. I'm assuming:

- 1 pair of legs
- 1 torso
- 1 head
- 1 hair or helmet
- 1 or 2 random accessories or clothing pieces

Incidentally, the Mrs. and I assembled Green Grocer this weekend (still need to finish the roof). So much fun, and an amazing set. I'm spoiled now. We got a little battery-powered LED light string that I'm going to feed through the interior and maybe make some wreaths or garland to customize it for the holidays. Ideas?

My problem with trading is it cost so much to ship a damn minifigure that a $3 minifigure i don't want turns into a $5 minifigure I want.

I want that fucking robot.

This is true, for those that only want 1 or 2, it's going to either be expenisve or impossible to get it.

I'd say wait for one of us, that will buy 100, to assemble one and sell it to you. ;)

That will probably be me. I can see myself just buying a case of these suckers and being done with it.

Not to mention the fact that everyone is going to want certain figures (Zombie, Clown, Robot), and no one is going to be interested in others (Diver).

I'll probably buy a handful of these packages and just keep what I get. I'm not a hardcore collector that needs one of everything.

Plus the fact LEGO might make 5 Robot sets for every 1,000 divers or something. I don't like it at all.

What it should be is that you get the minifigure you want, with a few random pieces, that after you collect enough make another minifigure.

Me neither but the robot and cheerleader are must haves for me.

I could see myself getting at least 1 of everything with a few more of like the zombie...

I know the wife would want the clown. haha. Cheerleader too.

I actually want the diver, I think it'll go well with my megalodan shark reinactment.

Stopped by Walmart on my way home and they had 3 Coast Guard sets. It scanned at $30, so maybe $15 is in the near future?

Anyway, was anybody able to get the Jungle Cutter? I signed on at 7 EST and it was already sold out!

Wow! General Grievous 100% sold out in under 58 seconds. Never tempted when he was on S@H, wasn't tempted now.

I thought for sure this would be the Twilight. Of course, I wouldn't be tempted by that either. It was fun to see LEGO up on the Lightening Deal stage. Not something you see a lot.

I saw that online, next time my mom goes to Walmart (I only go to buy seeds in the spring) I'll see if they have any left.

brickset.com is now reporting....

Update 2: We're seeing information from a number of sources that suggest each bag will contain a selection of parts from across the range of the 16 figures, and not a specific figure as had previously been supposed. So a single bag you buy might contain the Clown's hair, the Zombie's head, the Robot's body, and the Cheerleader's legs.

Now that sounds better because even if you get doubles you won't have 100 divers minifigures.

I really don't mind either way, random minifig (zombie-bot-cheer-gician) or complete figure. I would be buying a ton of these either way, and pretty much all the parts are useful, so I'll be happy no matter what. And this way, you'll never know what you're getting, whereas with complete you'll know you're getting 1 of 16 different things.
I just wish the release date wasn't so far off.
I'd rather have one complete minifig for $3, rather than have to spend 10 times that to hopefully get one complete figure.
You might have to spend 10 times that to get the figure you want. You will be getting a complete figure, just not matching.

Some new pictures....

Best Impulse set ever... and interesting use of the gun...

Interesting new blue plane. It has the new piece from the fire helicopter, but everything else is old style, this is what LEGO planes should look like...

Same here. I love the original trilogy Indy sets. The planes look good too.

I'm looking to buy a really cool Lego set, I am 18 and a first time Lego user.

Please find me a good deal where I can pay 8 dollars or less.

Not much for less than $8...Police helicopter is $10 or $11 which I think is a set everyone here likes.

Yeah the helicopter is neat.

The 7990-1: Cement Mixer is $15.
7737-1: Coast Guard 4WD & Jet Scooter is $10 and I love it (Have two in fact.)

7639-1: Camper is $17 and is awesome.

Atlantis has a couple cheaper sets in the line ... the crab one is kinda meh but this one is kinda cool ...

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=35783

It's the Wreck Raider and it's $9.99 ... 2 minifigs ... both cool and unique plus a vehicle.

With that said, you may have trouble finding it before January in stores, but it's somewhere out there now.

For $20 I would recommend this set -

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=35814

the Magma Mech ... great set with brand new minifigs that have cool details and it's a fun little set, best of the Power Miners in my opinion.
Dude I gotta get that Atlantis set.

I also want some Bionicles.
If you really want to collect Bionicles you better do it quick because there discontinuing those soon along with Indiana Jones, Pirates and I believe Sponge Bob.

No, you probably don't. I bought one on clearance at Target for 75% off. I put it together and I'm just not impressed.

I don't think Bionicles are very popular, as it seems that many of us on this board find them often on clearance. If you really want some Bionicle sets, I'd wait until after Christmas when they are sure to be clearanced out. You'll be able to find good deals, no question.

:whistle2:s

Bionicles are hugely popular, HUGELY POPULAR! Bionicle and Star Wars are the only reasons why LEGO wasn't sold to Hasbro (or another company) several years back. I can't remember last year's report but in 2007 the best selling themes were Star Wars, Bionicle, City, and Racers.

Well, that might be true, but then I wonder why the line is being cancelled? Or why, whenever there are clearances on Legos, we can always find the Bionicle sets, but have a hard time finding the other, regular Lego sets.

I'm not saying you're wrong, maybe Bionicle is a big deal with kids. But it sure seems weird that Lego is getting rid of it, and that Bionicles are easier to find on clearance than any other Lego set.

They make too many of the bigger Bionicle sets, and all the sets are overpriced. IJ sets were on clearance a lot, doesn't mean they didn't sell well, just means they made too many, or that one store got too many.

I have never seen a smaller Bionicle set on clearance, never, they have always been the bigger sets. The smaller sets go on sale, but that's because they were too much to begin with.

It's why news of it's ending was so amazing, because it is a powerhouse, however it's clear they have run out of ideas because the limited 2010 sets there are are redoes of sets from 10 years back. LEGO probably saw it as time to see if they could do something new with the line. If not Bionicle can always return, and I have a feeling it will rather soon.

The only Bionicle set I have is one of the smaller sets, just an individual figure set I found at 75% off at Target after Christmas last year. But I have seen a lot more of the large sets on clearance.

Regarding Indiana Jones, I'm not sure that it has sold all that well. Those sets have been pretty plentiful in clearance or reduced prices. I own six-ish IJ sets, and they were all bought at discount/clearance prices of anywhere from 50-75% off. And now it appears that line is dead as well, so I'm not sure it really sold as well as Lego would have liked.

I have seen almost all the IJ4 ones on clearance but I haven't lucked out on the classic line yet. Which brings up another point, maybe IJ sells great in Western/Central MA and CT and not else where? Maybe they didn't make too many sets but have them shipped to places that don't want them as much as others.

IJ is dead because there isn't a lot left to do, and the new movie was a disaster. Plus look at all the license sets coming out next year, there really isn't room for more IJ.

Why things go on sale is probably some insane reason LEGO came up with and that the stores came up with. Either way Bionicle used to sell well, I don't know what the 2008 or this year's numbers are. I think it's ending more on the fact they ran out of useless pieces to stick together that would make something new.

I'm psyched for the little blind box lego figures.

I hope the price is right. The most I ever dropped on equivalent toys in Japan was around 200 yen so if they're $2 here I'll be happy. At $3 I'll probably buy just one and have some retarded clown-ninja-robot.

I bought the Indiana Jones jungle cutter that Amazon had on sale monday for the $19.99 price. Wondering if that was a good set. Don't have any Indy sets yet so I was happy with this deal.

I got lucky and found it last... January I think for $15 at Walmart. It's pretty cool. I like the new (to me) guns that the Russians have and Indy's RPG. The trees are super-fragile I guess because the cutter is supposed to be able to actually chop them down.

Yeah, it's a good build for $20 ... probably one of the better Crystal Skull sets because the vehicle is a decent build and it's not just a bunch of minifigures and small pieces. The fact it comes with a nice little trap type thing, a few minifigs and weapons is a nice bonus. Still not as cool as the Temple Escape but a good set for $20.

Indy Canal Chase dropped to $9.98 at Target. This was a fast drop...two weeks from 30% off to 75% off so your local store may have some. Of course, Target clearance prices are YMMV.

Can you guys help me pick a set for my son he really likes the star wars sets.
$25-50 set would be fine, I am looking for one with nice pieces, fun to play with, cool minifig, worth the $ . If you really think another series is fun and worth it let me know as well. Thanks, Mickey
