LEGO Deals

I wouldn't mind if TRU didn't mark up all their lego prices.... on average they are about $2 more than WM, Target, or Kmart.

I couldn't do a PM deal at Target, so I'm going to go skimp over at WM and see what I find...

Lately WM been crap for selection.

@ TRU I picked up some last year Exoforce that should be 7.99 but is 9.99 at TRU. I couldn't find anything else that really matched 3 of a kind for prices, since every set was too much or vary by a couple bucks... I wanted to hit the 14.99 but all were marked like 18.99 or 16.99.

Even the two creator series were both 14.99 but they were definately only 12.99 everywhere else.

I think I'd be more happy with a b1g1 50% off.... because me thinking I'm saving 33% is not, since all prices are up about 10-15%

Anyways, WM should PM and I hope to get some of the small creator series, alot of fun in small packages.

Are there any free shipping codes for TRU.com? I was gonna nab 3 $60 sets, but the shipping was $22 plus tax, which more or less makes it useless.

No codes for TRU.

but... there is Free shipping up to $15 for new Bill Me Later Customers (credit check approval & acts like a cardless credit card).

with shipping and tax... usually kills these deals, and getting me in store in our only local one makes me cry it's pathetic.

The good news is "Yay, B2G1!!" The bad news... there goes ~$400. Bought 8635 Agents MCC, 8297 Off Roader, 8294 Excavator, 8157 Ferrari F1 1:9, 8154 Brick Street Customs, 4997 Transport Ferry. Thanks for the heads up! I didn't notice the sale was this week, and the Lego at my TRU always goes ultra fast. The "No SW, No IJ" should keep most people away, though.

Walmart should price match the deal, I'm going to tonight and pick up some 5 dollar sets that were 7 at TRU.

If the price is right, this would be saving 33% which is not too shabby, and about the price of clearence things at lego.com.

I just wish there were better sets to grab, it's been slim around my area... and that local TRU.

I went and was pissed. They had less sets than a week or two ago, and the prices were through the roof. So I was only able to get three "$10 sets", which were $12.

Fellow Lego addict here:
I got 7993 Service Station (x2) and the Batman Tumbler set at TRU. I have had the Cafe Corner set in my cart three times now, just can't pull the trigger. I would also like the Car Chase Agents set - the display in store looked especially snazzy.
I also don't know if this has been posted yet, but Target does their big Lego clearance twice a year: early January and June/July. This has been what I have observed over the past two years.

The gas station is a good set - the building is nice (I was impressed by the car wash) and it comes with a car and motorcycle. It's one of the better values for the price, and is a TRU/Lego.com exclusive.

That TIE fighter has been up there for months teasing me with its $13 clearance price...and every freakin' time I click on it to see if maybe this will be the time its actually in stock I just get kicked in the Lego bricks. TRU online is a little wonky when it comes to Legos...the X-wing fighter that shows as originally $100??? and then some crazier mark ups like the Hoth battle set for $65 when it should be $50.

Actually the Hoth Battle set is like the Dwaves' Mine, both were $50 when they came out but then were released for $60. So it's the normal mark up. :)
How is that gas station? I was going to buy that, the helicopter and another $40 set but didn't know if I wanted another gas station/helicopter.

And there is a Tie on sale, I know someone wants a Tie... OOS through....

I like the gas station. Plenty of fun, and the Car wash is a nice touch. Plus you can pretend that gas is still $1.05/Gallon. The motocycle is a good piece, not bad for $40.

That Coast Guard Heli is great. very nice set. My only complaint is the holding power of the rotors. the kids play with the copter and break the rotors off to easy. IIRC. you also get a lego shark.

B2G1 at TRU. To bad mine mark up sets and never carry anything. I still have to head that way tomorrow, so I might stop by. Still not much I want other then a Transport Ferry. I got 2 of each Indy set at the last FM B1G1 sale.

I got the Coast Guard Heli for my birthday, haven't built it yet. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw the initial pics of it. It's huge too.

Well oddly enough the Gas Station isn't marked up and the helicopter was only marked up $1. However I have an older gas station and I hate the huge back of the helicopter. It's no big deal, TRU has this sale at least one more time before Christmas.

For some reason when I click "Edit" it sends me to "Quote", then I click "Quote" and it's still "Quote".

Anyways I was going to say that TRU has this deal now, for the Birthday thing, then at least once more, if not twice before Christmas, and then around Easter.

does anybody know how they process returning these with a normal receipt or gift receipt?
im basically asking because i purchased 3 sets one of which i dont think my son will like if he exchanges it will he have to just pick one the same price or will they just give him store credit for the price of the item or do they adjust each item at 66% of their normal price?

kinda silly, im gonna be gone for his birthday and want it to be an easy process if he indeed does not like the 3rd set..

The only difference between a normal receipt and gift receipt is normal gets you cash back and gift gets you a gift card. I guess it depends on what set you are returning. Is it one of the B2 or the G1 free?

Personally, I'd say its best to return the item w/o a receipt. Then they'll give you the minimum price it was worth over the past 30 days. I doubt that will include the B2G1 free combos. Hope that makes sense.

We just picked up the coast guard helicopter, the fireboat , and beach house creator set today. The receipt doesn't discount each set by 33%...it lists full price the two most expensive ones and then $0.00 for the free set. I suppose you could return one (maybe even both) of the non-free sets and still keep the freebie, but I haven't tried. None of my stores will let you return without a receipt no exceptions...I'm stuck with a duplicate set that we received as a gift and the receipt was lost during the birthday party chaos. They won't even let us exchange it for another set.

im not ok with returning the 2 paid sets to keep the one for free.

i just wanted my son to be able to excange the set and get the $ value worth. i dont want him to have to search for another
$100 set and only be able to find a $40 he likes.
i had my wife look at the set in question and she said hell like it so who knows.

i want to give them all to him now so we can build them =) theyre fucking sweet sets.

You could probably ebay most sets and get at least market value for them. Or hold to them a few years and they go way up and value, especially sealed.

Toy R Us just sent me a coupon in the mail for $10 off purchase of $75 or more...which is about what I spent YESTERDAY. I think their marketing department is the same as Best Buy's who send me coupons after I make a big purchase or better yet coupons that expire before I even get them!

I wasn't suggesting returning two and keeping the freebie, I was suggesting buying sets you don't really want to get the deal and then exchanging for the sets you want ( like Star Wars or Indiana or sets that your store sold out of quickly) a week or two later.

TRU has 20% off City sets.

Police Helicopter TRU: $13 - 20% =$10.40

That's still 40 cents more than normal price!

$99 coming in Januaryish.

Anyone know a way to get a cheap Batmobile Collectors Edition? I know they don't make it any more but still don't want to spend to much on it.

The usual Target Lego clearance is over, but they are clearancing Batman stuff including Lego set # 7885 Robin's Scuba Jet: Attack of the Penguin. Originally $20, I got it at 30% off = $14. It should eventually drop to $5. I don't remember if Target ever carried any other Batman Legos this summer...it would be nice to find a Tumbler or Harley Quinn for 75% off eventually.

The Batman sets are already on sale?! Sheesh!

I'm hoping to got to Target later this week, I'll see what they have.

I might check out my Target, but not until sat. The clearance stuff is the only thing in my Target that ever gets wiped, no idea why.

Target put out those sets that were talked about earlier...

7679 Republic Fighter Tank
8636 Deep Sea Quest
the Oil rig looking set??
and maybe another I'm forgetting, all for $50.
Anyone know a way to get a cheap Batmobile Collectors Edition? I know they don't make it any more but still don't want to spend to much on it.
i have one thats practically new. i opened the box but i didn't put it together. i'll trade it for some other lego stuff if your interested.

I'll probably ask for the Oil Rig for Xmas. I have most of the Coast Guard sets now. My fiance stopped by the new LEGO store in Braintree, MA and she thought it was awesome and picked up a few of the smaller sets I was missing (the kayak, the quad bike, and the 4WD/Jetski). They were also building the Yoda there (she has some pictures but hasn't uploaded them). Her one complaint was that the store was absolutely packed, and was difficult to move around.

The store's grand opening was this weekend, if you were one of the first 50 people on each day to spend $35 you got free stuff. Then they had other things, that's why it was so packed.

I have nothing "big" to ask for this Christmas, so most likely will be LEGOs.

Nice pictures. I might be going to the new Boston store soon. I'm following the fall foliage south. :)

TRU has 40% off three Aqua Raider sets, the $20, $30, and $50 sets. However the big yellow sub has been listed for $40 for months at TRU, so it's 40% off $40 so it's really like 52%. It's $24 for close to 600 pieces. Maybe I should have bought another one.

And it seems like a clearance thing, no rain checks, so get them while they last.
One of my favorite recent sets there xycury, and it looks very realistic.
We should start up a backlog of sets that haven't been put together... I have way too many.

The wife cleared a section of bookshelf to line them up in... just haven't had time to invest putting them together.

Don't know when I'll be able to open this one, but the set looks great.

I tend to stay away from the city sets, because of the unique pieces but this one has alot of great ones that I'm sure I can use.

Side question... when do 09 sets start pouring out, I was hoping for xmas.. but nothing yet.

Ummm... is it Christmas yet?

The 2009 sets come out first at the Lego Stores, that is normally about a week before Thanksgiving, but that was before LEGO changed shipping companies. That is also mainly City, a few Racer, but never Star Wars besides one random set maybe. Then the day after Christmas they start officially coming in at TRU, all of them. They will continue to slowly be released until February 2009 when all the "January" sets should be out at most stores. It's normally mid to late January for Target and Walmart.

Someone posted this elsewhere...

Got Back yesterday from the Grand re-opening of the Lego Store in Sactrmento Califorina, and if you guys don't know the target release date for these sets in November 17th. They had a flyer that had release dates, and on the 17th it says look for new models, and shows a picture of the new city dump truck!

The 17th is the week before Thanksgiving. :)
Ummm... is it Christmas yet?
Actually I thought they (the retail businesses) had replaced Halloween with Christmas!

Seriously if you look at WM, Target, Menards, and Kmart, their Halloween stuff is near non-existant now... and they are in full bloom for Xmas for like 2 weeks now. (Doom and gloom about this holiday season)

It's sad to see it like that, usually I thought they would wait, from last year...

Thanks for the tidbits of info though, the 17th... unfortunately I will be no where near a lego store, or close to TRU... won't pay their prices unless a good sale is on.

Well by your estimate, I should see the new sets in Feb, enough time to save some money till then

I can't wait to see how the rock raiders turn out.
Bigdaddy knows his stuff...now if I could only convince him to support Obama somehow.
haha

What?

I don't mind Obama, but I HATE new McCain, McCain 2000 I loved. Plus If Obama dies I like Biden, if McCain died I'm fleeing the country as soon as I can.

I'm from Mass, it doesn't matter who I vote for anyways.

And Christmas came a little later this year. Last year I went to Lowes on September 16th looking for plants and they had Christmas Crap out, this year it was more towards the end of September. And I have been to several Targets, they all still have Halloween stuff, and LOADS of candy! I'm saving up to buy the candy on sale the day after Halloween. :)

Small Rock Raider pictures, or Power Miners or whatever they call them!

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=21117

The sets look rather ehh... the helmets in blue suck. However the little rock guys fit in the rocks, match the color of the crystals in the set, and can eat the crystals. So at least the monsters are a hell of a lot better than the Mars Mission aliens.

And the other January 2009 sets, with prices...

http://www.1000steine.de/forum2/forum_entry.php?id=164447

Just change the Euro sign to that of a $ and it's correct 90% of the time except on Star Wars. Europe gets mega screwed on SW LEGO, and just normal screwed on everything else. :)

Nice find on the prices.

Seems like I'll stick to the >20 sets...

I don't care for city, but glad to see Pirates coming back.

I'm not even a SW fan but that one set for 14 looks nice, the assassin droids...

After looking at the RR, I don't know, alot of technic and big pieces, I think I'll just grab >10 shame that they all have different color crystals.

I'll be able to get in a store early next month but not late enough for these

Ooh, I missed out on Vader's Tie Fighter back when it was in that Lego set vs. the Y-Wing. I'll have to pray for clearance deals at Target come late 2009.
