Medieval Market is a great set. We have fun with it many times a week, all the pieces work well together for play time with the kids.

It's been in and out of stock at the local Lego store. I can't say when they stop making it. Right now it seems lego makes a set for the year and then stops for new sets. I wish the toy market would slow down. Don't need everything new each and every year. How about a two year span. I still have some of last years sets I want and they are getting harder to find.

The Indiana Jones Jungle Cutter 7626 was marked down to 9.98 at my local target. When I brought it home I noticed that it has three bags, one marked 1 and two marked 2. Does anyone know if this is the norm for this set?

Peril in Peru is back up on LEGO S@H for $34--ready to ship, not backordered. I agree on how great the Medieval Marketplace is. That set is fantastic!

Medieval Marketplace isn't going anywhere, the set is only 6 months old, it will be around through at least Christmas shopping season.

Medieval Market Village is a pretty good set. As Bingo noted it does have great minifigs and price to piece ratio. I also think it has great elements and rare colors. When this is gone, I'm sure a good amount of people will be looking for this set, especially considering it's only available within LEGO.

I thought my area was doing good as far as clearance goes with Target and I was waiting for 75%. I checked yesterday at the Targets that had a good amount at 50%, but now they're all gone. It doesn't look like they stay long enough on the shelves here to hit 75%.

For those who have been to LEGOLAND, can you please tell me if you can buy elements in bulk there and if the pricing is a bit lower?

Check the manual. It will usually tell you what the bags are numbered. If you're missing a bag, you can contact lego and they will ship you the missing bag. You will also get to keep the extra #2.

I could be wrong, but I thought the Jungle Cutter was a 2 bag set, with a couple smaller bags. As I recall, the 2nd bag is the Jungle Cutter itself (1st is the little ... ruin thing?) So if you got 2 identical bag #2's I believe that would mean you got an extra Jungle Cutter ... of course, I built the set last week and don't recall a bag 3 but then I wasn't paying real close attention. According to the manual, there are only 2 numbered bags to open.

Yeah, speaking of Target Clearance sets ... I thought for sure I'd be able to pick up an Agents Boat set because they had like 12 the last time I was there ... nope, totally cleaned out ... mostly because the store had hit 75%. Luckily there was one unmarked Jungle Cutter that I picked up in order to get the adjustment on the Cutter I bought last week. With that said, I returned the Cutter to the Coleman and Taylor Target last night, so there's a chance another Cutter will pop up at that Target in San Jose.

I have had several sets that had 2 bags that were numbered the same, but with different content. I believe one was the Batman Tumbler, but that was a while ago. In my experience, the bags are numbered to make sorting through everything easier. Just finished 10144 Sandcrawler, and I wish that one had had numbered bags!

Thanks for the replies. I checked and the bags marked #2 are different. One of them has the jungle crawler and the other has some odd bits and pieces(rims for the treads). The only reason I'm questioning this set is because the tape looked loose, as if it had been opened before.

Good to know. It's on my list, but damn....with all the sales, and the Tru coupon (Home One), my wallet needs to breathe. I'm going to hold off. I really need a coupon for the Indy Riverchase though. I need it to complete our Indy sets, before it gets retired. If anyone sees any kind of deal on this, plmk. :)

Well it's just a guess Cutie, but LEGO keeps all the expensive sets around Christmas because that's when they know people buy them. I'm waiting until LEGO has that free cardboard PaB box during the holidays, that's such a great deal.

Also you can have ten bags with the same number. The numbers aren't for the bags, they are for "Easy Building". You open up the bags with the 1 first, build it and then move on to the 2 and build them. It's so the kids don't have to look for one piece out of 1,000, I really like it.

My Target rearranged the Legos today to a different aisle. Its weird, instead of them being grouped by category (SW, Indy, City, Etc) they are randomly placed throughout the aisle. Saw some price labels for set they don't normally have, including Police Headquarters.

Yep same here, but they kinda keep the bioncle sets together, but they have a section called "toys under $20" so I bet the economy is forcing this trend.

I think they arranged it by price, bigger pricier sets on top. I finally was able to see the Pirate ship in my hands... before I haven't seen it otherwise except online.

I did see the Halo megablocks diarama, it looks 'ok' but I know if Lego were to do it, it'd look a heck of lot more.... better/real, seems like I look at the figures and blocks and they just look cheap.

oh and if anyone wondered, NO CLEARANCE LEGOS

Thanks for the heads up on the sudden Target drops. Went and checked and managed to grab the last Crane for half off. They had moved it to shelving on the back wall that they set up as a clearance section, so I damn near missed it.

Does anyone know if Walmart will price match it's website?? We bought 2 sets, but after coming home, I found out that it was cheaper online, AND free ship to store.

Anyways, today, we also stopped by Target, and son found one of those Lego watches with the rare?? Luke skywalker jedi minifig, and fell in love. Bought it, and checked the lego website...they are sold out all those watches already. It's crazy....I think they just came out.

Most stores won't price match their own website (which is bs imo) so I would guess Walmart won't. But thats my guess.

Speaking of Walmart.com, they have Cafe Corner on there for $128 w/ FS to the store. Not great but $12 off retail price. I wish I had the money for the big sets right now.

Thanks for the info. I think this is the first one I've come across that's like this. Sounds pretty cool.
I may be going to a Lego Store for the first time later today. Anything I should keep my eye out for? Any recommendations? Any exclusives?
You probably already went, but since no one else answered the question I'll give it a shot -

LEGO stores are great for the following things -

1. Exclusives - Medieval Village, the Carousel set, the Death Star, etc - basically many of LEGO's larger and more expensive 'adult' sets. Highlights for me personally include Green Grocer and the Emerald Night ... I think they're 2 great sets among many others.

2. Inventory - LEGO stores have a tremendous amount of selection and can order anything w/ free shipping that is not currently in store but is available on the website.

3. LEGO paraphernalia - keychains, exclusive minifig magnet sets (best way to get rare minifigs), LEGO watches (with minifigs), exclusive minifig sets and boosters

4. LEGO PAB (Pick a Brick) & Custom Minifigs - a staple for any LEGO enthusiast, if you want to build your basic brick sets, you can grab a bucket for either $7.99 or $14.99 and fill it to your hearts content with a selection of pieces. Custom minifigures aren't quite as wide spread and selection is still somewhat lacking, but LEGO is testing out selling 3 custom minifigs for $9.99 in a similar fashion to PAB.

And finally, on a somewhat on again off again basis, you can find clearance priced LEGO sets. A good rule of thumb is to check the LEGO website and see what the clearance items are. Although this was a first for me, on my last trip to the local LEGO store I was chatting with the manager and mentioned a clearance set on the website and she offered to match the price in store. YMMV, but it's worth a shot.

So I would say that's a decent introduction on what to look out for at LEGO stores ... pick up an exclusive set or two, grab some magnet sets or PAB and make a day of it. Plus there's always a play area for your kids, models built for you to check out ... oh ..

And pick up a LEGO calendar, normally each month they have a free "build" day where kids get a free, small set. This month it's a lobster? Plus they have monthly coupons that net you some free LEGO schwag ... this month is a free Indy Magnet set with a $99 purchase (must be some LEGO indy stuff purchased). But always pick up the calendar on your first trip and bring it back the second, because they put the Calendar out a month in advance and often take it away on the 1st of the month. You can also get a free INDY keychain this month if you're a LEGO club member and buy $35 worth of legos on August 11th or 12th.

So there ya go ... enjoy the LEGO store

Not too long ago, it was policy at LEGO that if an item was on sale online that they would match it in-store automatically.

Recently, I talked to the store managers for both of the LEGO stores near me to see if that policy still stands and they said that the policy no longer applies where they have to match it automatically, but they would honor the online price IF you mention it to me.

If the store does not have the item in stock, they can order it online for at the sale price, BUT you have to pay the shipping cost. That's lame considering it's the same thing as if you were to order it at home.

Your Lego store must not like you because every Lego store I've been to will ship any set available online but out-of-stock in store for free.

Well, when I said if I found IJ Temple Escape for $15 I wouldn't be able to resist, I apparently meant $30 because I found one at Target for that price and now it is mine. Still, good price on a set I have wanted that is getting harder to find. I am happy.

I would say that this is totally YMMV. My closest Lego Store is the Downtown Disney location in Orlando. When I watched 10186 General Grievious drop down below $30 online, I drove over to pick it up. When I got there, there were tons sitting on the shelf at $45. I asked for the website price, and they said they would NOT match the price because they were a separate entity.

I will say, though, that the Disney location is always busy, like shoulder to shoulder busy. It might just be a local store policy that they don't feel like they need to match online prices because they can probably move the product eventually.

I agree that the Disney Lego is unique and treated very differently than probably any other.

They can move product, I've seen clearence stuff fly off... they had a pallet full of probably 100 sets, next day, it was gone!

I'm sure for a place like that they can move product. Probably the best move by Lego, to put a shop there.

Now if I can only get to either Mall of America or Chicago :(

The Disney Store is a special LEGO store and does it's own thing.

At most stores the people are nice enough that if they can't override the old price they will just buy it from the online store for you.

So after there being nothing but some half-off bionicles the last time I went to my local Target, I found something really interesting in the clearance aisle. Exoforce Deep Jungle sets for 30 percent off. I only bought 1, 8115 Dark Panther, but there were 3-4 other. They were so old they weren't even in the system. These weren't even out at full price before the most recent drop, so I wonder how these year old sets made it out to the shelves. They also had one of the older spongebob sets, the one where the car crashes through a sign or something. .

wow they had exo-force? wish I would have picked up more than I have when they were around.

Probably my most loved series  and now it's gone.

well anyways, there really is only 3 that I don't have... tend to be the highest priced ones too.

My guess is that someone returned them? and they didn't do an inventory check? They should have tossed it then, but didn't.

I have posted previously here on some of the legos I have for sale. I can provide pics for those who are interested in the star wars legos I have. What I have found so far is the sith infiltrator, the slave 1, the imperial shuttle, speeder bikes, and a at-st.
If you want them let me know, and you might have something I want?

You would be surprised at what they find in "the back" at Target. I remember a Call of Duty game going on clearance at Target and my store had no copies anywhere. Couple of months later, at least 200+ copies show up on the clearance shelf...actually, they took up the entire shelf.

The local Walmart put some sets on clearance today. The Crawler Crane for $40 (from $60), V-19 Torrent for $40 ($55), Magnaguard Fighter $30 ($45), Ahsoka's Jedi Fighter $35 ($40), and Agents Speedboat $35 ($40). Bionicles too but who cares...kids do actually as I saw some begging their mom for sets that were $13 and marked down to $11. My daughter wants the Ahsoka Fighter, but I won't pay more than $20 since it is practically the same as the Anakin one for double the price.

sadly it's SW crap... and the speedboat would be nice, but 5 off 40 isn't what I was looking for. Barely 12 % around off? That's like a Sale, not a clearence.

Stopped at another Walmart that put practically more than half their Legos on clearance. In addition to what I saw at my local store: IJ Flying Wing for $35 (50), 3 different Power Miner sets...$13(20), $21(30), and $50(70 or 80), Propeller Creator for $13(20), green car Creator $9?(13), SW Attack Shuttle $35?(50), Bulldozer $30(40), a bunch of Racer sets, and some other randoms I'm forgetting. I swear about two-thirds of all the Legos had red tags on the shelf.

You're right xycury that some of these markdowns aren't great, but that was the same way after xmas...only a few sets got sold during the first drop, which is why so many of us got the sets on the second round of price drops that were much better. I'll wait two months to get that giant Power Miners set for $30 just like the Republic Gunship, Troll Warship, or IJ Crystal Skull Temple.

Also took the kids to the Lego store for the monthly build and noticed that all the new sets were finally out including the new mid-sized Millenium Falcon. 350 pieces and only 9 inches long for $40. They also had the Wind Turbine Transport in stock at $60 so I guess this set won't be too rare.

I'll have to peak at my local ones, even if they aren't, it could be just a late one later.

I know I'd like to pick up some of the bigger PM sets.

And yeah, that late one after xmas, totally raped them 3 ships, Crystal skull, 2 mines, and one SW dropship I parted, than someone came by for sloppy seconds and bought the other 5 SW sets that were there on the same day.

I know I'll be getting the two creator sets, haven't because I can't justify the cost currently.

Looks pretty real ... sadly it also looks kinda crappy, but then it's small and I can't really tell. This series reminds me alot of that series that came out a few years ago with lobster and crab vehicles ... Aquaraiders? Dunno, those always seemed sort of lame to me ... what would be cool is a set that took the underwater theme and combined it with the whole "ancient ruins" type vibe the IJ sets have. Maybe there's still hope as we start to see more of what Atlantis has to offer ... but from that small picture it reminds me of an underwater-Jungle Cutter-red Aqua Raider-Lobster thing ...

PS Am I the only one who noticed that the price of the Home One set at TRU has actually increased to $109.99, matching the LEGO store price? Guess there was a benefit for being an early adopter ...

supposedly from an Itailian source... coming out in 2010. Website should be up in Dec.

I don't know....

box looks pretty legit, not like that Castle Elves boxes I've seen.

Strange that we haven't heard more of it by now, considering it's only 4 months away.

We've seen sets LONG before they are at retail...

They are also a bunch of lying losers... oh did I say that? :)

Aquaraiders was an awesome theme, a near future underwater City like theme. I have always wanted an Atlantis theme with the mermaid and shark pieces from the Harry Potter set, and instead we get Power Miner set in a different color. Oh well another theme I always wanted that LEGO fucked up (like the Farm sets).

Looks like the original posting was removed, it seems that the pics are being removed as well since they have those confidential seals on them ... which tends to indicate these may very well be the real deal.

And I dunno, Aqua Raiders was alright ... but I wish LEGO would deviate from the primary colors and mix it up, rather than focusing heavily on a yellow vehicle or red vehicle or blue vehicle.
But think how much cheaper for them their strategy is
No doubt, but I think that design plays a major factor in some sets and the 'brick economics' plays a more dominant role in others. I guess I'm somewhat overly bashing Aquaraiders' use of yellow ... but I look at a set like the Medieval Market and that seems like design came before the need to use one dominant color. I just hope that everything in this new Atlantis line doesn't turn out to be mostly solid reds ... and after looking at that vehicle a few times, I really don't like it.

I feel like some of the newer LEGO vehicle designs are adding weird crap without really following good design principles. Power Miners and Space Police spring to mind ... some of the sets in both lines are cool, but overall many of the vehicles seem sort of backwards or not very sleek or cool looking. The space police "speeders" have parts that make it look like it would never be aerodynamic and it just looks wrong to me for some reason. Perhaps I just miss some of the older sets that didn't rely on weird new gimicky pieces like giant saws and claws, etc.

Tangent - Does anyone know if LEGO s@h recently changed their returns policy? I was always under the impression that you could return an order at any LEGO store as an alternative to shipping it back to them. Was this ever the case or am I just crazy?

yeah I'm not totally big on red either, and the way it's structured, I'd have to see the sets.

What did the sets look like?

well space has no air, so it can be less aerodynamic. But I get your point, and same here that the sets are too.. unique. They did that with Power Miners with alot of large technic pieces, wheels and chasises. Overall I just didn't like the sets, simply because it became into just action figures, there was much to swap around or recreate with just the small sets, and even the combination sets are just lame too. I think I only liked the biggest one that combined into a hoverjet thingy.

I feel that space took that further, I got the police chase and the 'bike' is one huge peice... really un-buliding friendly. They look cool, but the amount you get really can't make much else.

It's as if Lego is going the Action Figure route, and leaving up the Creator series and the buckets as general purpose building fun. They release some teeny $10-$12 sets that were awesome and harked back to the earlier days, with Pirates, Castles, and Fire. I enjoy all of them and the piece count is worth it, with 1 figure in each and enough unique peices to complement all the other blocks you get. I think I enjoy Castle more tha pirate only because it gives me some green foliage.

I HATE the Bioncle series because that's all it is, action figures.

I am thinking Agents like the same, mostly enough pieces to get by with not enough ever to make something more of it. Probably why I haven't picked up any set of the series. I'll probably pick up the giant Robot one because of my love and throwback to the Exo-Force series, that and the Power Miners Crystal King set, which is at WM. Hard to truly justify the price though at $20, but you do get 2 figures with the set.
Tangent - Does anyone know if LEGO s@h recently changed their returns policy? I was always under the impression that you could return an order at any LEGO store as an alternative to shipping it back to them. Was this ever the case or am I just crazy?
I thought I heard at WDW Lego you can bring back online purchases, but that's been like two years ago.

No clue now.

actually I'm going to place an order at S@H, see if those construction workers are still there, I need more figure fodder plus I really enjoy the extra pieces one gets with them. Just like the other City figure, the recycle/trash guy... 10 extra trash bins plus alot of orange :D

The yellow subs looked great. When LEGO goes and tries something different we get lime green Power Miners. It's all LEGO's crazy ass focus groups saying kids want one color that stands out. I'm just happy the sets aren't orange, LEGO is really overusing orange in sets, more so City sets.

And let's be honest, that set could be any color and it would still look like trash. It's just the normal LEGO trash, stick some wheels on something, and some crazy arm pieces and call it a day.

BEST NEWS EVER!

WB is making a LEGO movie.

Does that mean LEGO will have a new theme based on the movie based on the LEGOs?
